A study on performance improvement of position control system in hydraulic cylinder for heavy construction machinery (건설기계용 유압실린더 위치 제어시스템의 성능개선에 관한 연구)

  • Even though digital control type high speed solenoid valve is a little inferior to analog control type servo valve and proportional control valve in performance, it is cheap and has secure performance against pollutant and simple control circuit. But high speed solenoid valve is hardly used for heavy machinery instead of servo valve or proportional control valve that is used in severe condition because the valve itself is small capacity and it shows wide dead zone during on-off control and chattering of hydraulic cylinder by chattering of pressure. It is desirable to use low-priced and strong pollutant resistant high speed solenoid valve for obtaining reliability of operation from severe working condition because it isn't necessary to acquire response characteristic of high frequency when we consider the characteristic of heavy machinery operation. In this study, PWM control algorithm for pilot pressure control of large capacity pilot operating valve will be used for precision position control of heavy machinery hydraulic cylinder. Not only cost reduction of main control valve but also high reliability of heavy machinery in severe condition can be obtained by using this pilot operating spool valve with high speed solenoid valve.

OFDM Channel Estimation with Jammed Pilot Excision Method under Narrow-Band Jamming (협대역 재밍환경에서 재밍된 파일럿 제거 방법을 이용한 OFDM시스템의 채널추정에 관한 연구)

  • In Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems, Narrow-Band Jamming (NBJ) over pilot tones used for channel estimation degrades the system performance. In this paper, we propose a new jammed pilot detection and elimination algorithm to overcome this problem. Moreover, the average Mean-Squared Error (MSE) on one OFDM symbol both under jammed and removed pilot subcarrier is analyzed. And then, the Symbol Error Rate (SER) performance of the channel estimation scheme using the proposed algorithm is evaluated by simulation. We can confirm that the channel estimator with the proposed algorithm improves the channel estimation performance at a high jamming power.

A Channel Estimation and Detection Method for Multi-Cell Signals Using the PN Sequence Pilot in Time-Varying Channel Environments (시변 채널 환경에서 PN 수열 파일럿을 활용한 다중 셀 신호의 채널 추정 및 검출 방법)

  • In cellular mobile radio systems with frequency reuse, the interference signals degrade the channel estimation and signal detection performance due to the low signal-to-interference ratio near coverage boundaries. When the preamble pilot sequences from different cells are orthogonal or located in disjointed positions, they can be used for multi-cell channel estimation and interference cancellation. In time-varying channels caused by Doppler spread, data pilot symbols are needed for channel estimations. However, data pilot symbols are usually located in identical positions for the overhead reduction, which degrades the channel estimation performance. In this paper, we demonstrate a significant amount of performance improvement is achieved by multiplying different pseudonoise(PN) sequences to the data pilot symbols from adjacent interference cells. In particular, for detection scheme using maximal ratio combining(MRC) and inter-cell spatial demultiplexing(ISD), quantitative performance gain of spectral efficiency for different values of Doppler frequency and interference power is presented.

  • In land mobile communication, very extensive studies on pilot symbol assisted modulation (PSAM) have been made on fading compensation. This paper analyzes the effect of power amplifier nonlinearity on PSA-QAM with maximal ratio combining space diversity. In practical PSAM, information on fading is obtained through interpolation of the pilot symbols. We employed the interpolation filter which could minimize the average power of error and analyzed effects on the system performance of the number of filter taps, period of the pilot symbol frame, and the Doppler frequency. Nonlinear power amplifiers of class AB, B, and C were incorporated in the system models and their AM/AM and AM/PM characteristics were taken into account in the performance analysis. We showed the performance variations according to the types of the nonlinear power amplifiers in the AWGN and Rayleigh fading channels using nonlinear compensation technique, Cartesian Feedback Loop (CFB).

Adaptive MPSAM technology for Compensation of Rayleigh Fading Channels (레일레이 페이딩 채널 보상을 위한 적응형 MPSAM 기술)

  • In this paper, the adaptive MPSAM is suggested in order to analyze and improve problems caused by the case of the impact of delay waves on Pilot Symbol Assisted Modulation (PSAM), a singular Pilot method. PSAM predicts and compensates amplitude and phases caused on fading channels, using the Pilot Symbol. In addition, the Basic method is not only analyzed but also grafted onto the suggested method properly; therefore, the performance could be improved. Comparing to the Basic method, the BER performance can be distinguished in case that the level of delay on delay waves with the suggested method goes below 0.7. On the other hand, the BER performance can be inferior due to a considerable effect of the adjacent symbol in the event that the level of delay on delay waves is worse. However, the BER performance is rather improved on the point where the level of delay on delay waves is serious because the Basic method uses reciprocal compensation. Hence, stable improvement can be expected in all areas which receive the influence of delay waves within one symbol once grafted onto the suggested method.

Pilot Symbol Assisted Weighted Data Fusion Scheme for Uplink Base-Station Cooperation System

  • Base Station Cooperation (BSC) has been a promising technique for combating the Inter-Cell Interference (ICI) by exchanging information through a high-speed optical fiber back-haul to increase the diversity gain. In this paper, we propose a novel pilot symbol assisted data fusion scheme for distributed Uplink BSC (UBSC) based on Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm. Furthermore, the proposed scheme exploits the pre-defined pilot symbols as the sample of transmitted symbols to constitute a sub-optimal Weight Calculation (WC) model. To circumvent the non-linear programming problem of the proposed sub-optimal model, DE algorithm is employed for searching the proper fusion weights. Compared with the existing equal weights based soft combining scheme, the proposed scheme can adaptively adjust the fusion weights according to the accuracy of cooperative information, which remains the relatively low computational complexity and back-haul traffic. Performance analysis and simulation results show that, the proposed scheme can significantly improve the system performance with the pilot settings of the existing standards.

Gaussian Interpolation GPSAM Method to Overcome Fast Fading in High Speed Mobile Environments (고속 모바일 환경에서 fast 페이딩 극복을 위한 가우시안 보간 GPSAM 기법)

  • In the case of the Pilot Symbol Assisted Modulation (PSAM) method predicting and compensating amplitude and phases caused on fading channels, there can be severe performance deterioration by Doppler spread on fast fading channels. In this paper, the fading compensation method suggested so as to improve occurring problems as well as analyze them. Doppler spread is the major cause of the bit error rate(BER) performance deterioration. Compared to the existing PSAM method, the more performance deterioration occurs, the larger Doppler spread appears but performance shows well its less $10^{-2}BER$ performance than the existing PSAM method in the suggested method whereas the existing PSAM method has about $10^{-1}BER$ its considerable performance deterioration that caused by Doppler spread within a symbol cycle with the level of delay wave interference.

Customized Pilot Training Platform with Collaborative Deep Learning in VR/AR Environment (VR/AR 환경의 협업 딥러닝을 적용한 맞춤형 조종사 훈련 플랫폼)

  • Aviation ICT technology is a convergence technology between aviation and electronics, and has a wide variety of applications, including navigation and education. Among them, in the field of aerial pilot training, there are many problems such as the possibility of accidents during training and the lack of coping skills for various situations. This raises the need for a simulated pilot training system similar to actual training. In this paper, pilot training data were collected in pilot training system using VR/AR to increase immersion in flight training, and Customized Pilot Training Platform with Collaborative Deep Learning in VR/AR Environment that can recommend effective training courses to pilots is proposed. To verify the accuracy of the recommendation, the performance of the proposed collaborative deep learning algorithm with the existing recommendation algorithm was evaluated, and the flight test score was measured based on the pilot's training data base, and the deviations of each result were compared. The proposed service platform can expect more reliable recommendation results than previous studies, and the user survey for verification showed high satisfaction.

Validity Study of Questionnaire Items of the Pilot Aptitude Personality Test (조종적성인성검사 문항개발 타당도 연구)

  • The pilot aptitude test so far has been conducted with a dichotomous concept of cognitive factor and non-cognitive factor, so it was not easy to explain concrete factors about pilot aptitude. Therefore, an integrated approach is needed to construct pilot aptitude test including all factors that can predict pilot aptitude. In previous study, we developed questionnaire items for the Pilot Aptitude Personality Test(PAPT) which can predict the flight training achievement through personality and personal characteristics. And those items were categorized as personality, cognition, and motivation factors. The flight training grades were correlated with all the test factors of the items, and the cognitive factors were high. As a result of the regression analysis, the total score of the three factors together accounted for 16% of the flight training grades. The results of the ANOVA showed that the cognition factors and motivation factors had significant effects on the completion of the flight training. The factors of PAPT predicted not only the completion of the flight training but also the flight performance. This is because the existing paper-pencil pilot aptitude test can only discriminate the flight training completion status. This is also a result of the fact that the introductory flight training consists of various factors including not only basic cognition but also personality and motivation.

Power Consumption Analysis of the Wibro System Using Pilot Control of Uplink Symbol (상향링크 Symbol의 Pilot 제어를 적용한 Wibro 시스템의 전력소비량 분석)

  • In this paper, proposed the method to increase the battery life of the Wibro terminal by reducing its power consumption. The amount of power consumption was analysed. And as the results, it is shown that the suggested method can be reduced the power consumption. The performance of the proposed system, which control the number of pilot of symbol, analysed by the simulation. It is shown that the power consumption of the terminal can be reduced by the reduction of the CINR for the percentage of pilot per symbol, as 0.48dBm for 10% and 0.95dBm for 20%, which can be accomplished by changing the current system of having the fixed number of pilot.
