무용접 장대강관말뚝 공법의 항타 및 지지력 특성 (Characteristics of Driving Efficiency and Bearing Capacity for Long Steel Pipe Pile Method without Welding)

  • 기존의 장대강관말뚝 공법들은 말뚝의 용접이음이나 관내토의 제거 작업으로 인하여 공비와 공기가 증가하고 이들 작업이 진행되는 동안 시간효과에 의하여 말뚝의 관입 저항이 증가하여 타입이 어려워지는 등 각종 비경제적인 문제점들을 갖고 있다. 이러한 문제들을 해결하기 위하여 본 연구에서는 새로운 장대강관말뚝 공법을 제안하였으며, 제안된 공법의 시공성과 경제성을 분석하기 위하여 모형말뚝시험을 행하였다. 시험결과 새로 제안된 장대말뚝공법은 기존 공법에 비해 공기와 공비는 절감되고 지지력은 증가시키는 것으로 나타났다.

Dynamic analyses and field observations on piles in Kolkata city

  • In the present case study, High Strain Dynamic Testing of piles is conducted at 3 different locations of Kolkata city of India. The raw field data acquired is analyzed using Pile Driving Analyzer (PDA) and CAPWAP (Case Pile Wave Analysis Programme) computer software and load settlement curves along with variation of force and velocity with time is obtained. A finite difference based numerical software FLAC3D has been used for simulating the field conditions by simulating similar soil-pile models for each case. The net pile displacement and ultimate pile capacity determined from the field tests and estimated by using numerical analyses are compared. It is seen that the ultimate capacity of the pile computed using FLAC3D differs from the field test results by around 9%, thereby indicating the efficiency of FLAC3D as reliable numerical software for analyzing pile foundations subjected to impact loading. Moreover, various parameters like top layers of cohesive soil varying from soft to stiff consistency, pile length, pile diameter, pile impedance and critical height of fall of the hammer have been found to influence both pile displacement and net pile capacity substantially. It may, therefore, be suggested to include the test in relevant IS code of practice.

  • In this study, a test bed was constructed in order to evaluate thermal efficiency of the energy pile which carries out combined roles of a structural foundation and of a heat exchanger. The energy pile in this study is designed as a large-diameter drilled shaft equipped with the heat exchange pipes which configures a W-shape and an S-shape. The drilled shaft reached to the depth of 60 m whilst the heat exchange pipes were installed to about 30 m deep from the ground surface. The W-shaped and S-shaped heat exchange pipes were installed in the opposite sections of the same drilled shaft. In-situ thermal response tests were performed for both the shapes of heat exchange pipes. To avoid underestimating the thermal performance due to hydration heat of concrete inside the drilled shaft, the in-situ thermal response tests for the energy pile were performed after four weeks since the installation of the energy pile.

이어도 해양과학기지 말뚝기초의 항타 관입성 연구 (Drivability of Offshore Pile Foundation at Ieodo Ocean Research Station)

  • When pile foundation is constructed by dynamic method, it is desirable to perform monitoring of drivability with pile penetration. Dynamic pile monitoring yields information regarding driving hammer, cushion, pile and soil behaviour that can be used to confirm the assumptions of wave equation analysis. In this study, dynamic monitoring of the steel pipe pile was performed with Pile Driving Analyser (PDA). The PDA utilizes the wave propagation theory to compute numerous variables which describe the conditions of the hammer-pile-soil system in real-time and following each hammer impact. This approach allows immediate field verification of hammer performance, driving efficiency, and estimation of pile bearing capacity. A series of PDA test were performed at the Ieodo Ocean Research Station (IORS) located in southeast of Marado, a southernmost small island south of Jeju Island. The drilling core sediments of Ieodo subsoil are composed of mud and sand, showing lamination and wavy or lenticular bedding, which were often bioturbated. This paper summarizes the results of PDA tests which were applied in measurement and estimation of large diameter open ended steel pipe pile driven by steam hammer, Vulcan-560 and MRBS-4600, at the marine sediments.

  • This paper presents the utilization of waste concrete as vertical drain material. The materials used as vertical drain material were the waste concrete, obtained from the demolished apartments or concrete structure and sand. In this study, laboratory model test was performed to investigate settlement and bearing capacity between sand compaction pile and waste concrete compaction pile. The results of laboratory model test showed that the improvement efficiency of soft ground by waste concrete compaction pile was better than sand compaction pile.

  • In this study, a series of thermal numerical analysis was conducted through the ground condition and the length and shape of the energy pile. In order to investigate the effect of the thermal properties of ground condition, grout and pile type on heat transfer efficiency in the U-type heat exchanger in energy pile, thermal numerical analysis was done by using ABAQUS. ABAQUS, a finite element analyzing program, was employed to evaluate the temperature distribution on the cross section of energy pile system incorporating HDPE - grout - pile - Ground condition which consists of clay, sand, rock type soil and ground water.

  • Noise radiated from pile driving operation is one of major sources of community noise pollution and thus its operation method is strictly restricted by regulations. Although the drilling method is now used been commonly used in urban areas because of its activity, the benefit of low noise decreases due to high working cost. In the present work, noise characteristics of pile driving operation are carried out. Based on the study result, a low-noise pile cap for driven piles is developed in order to satisfy both the noise level restriction and the economical efficiency. Effects of pile cap are investigated by a scale model experiment, which is focused on the variation of impact force and sound pressure level. The results show a good possibility of noise reduction by an appropriately designed pile cap.

  • The interest in suction piles by the oil industry was risen in the middle of 1980's. Recently, suction piles have been applied increasingly in offshore engineering due to its low cost, simplicity, efficiency, and reliability. Suction piles have normally been used as anchors of floating structures and foundations of marine structures in deep-water locations. Suction piles have several technical advantages over conventional piles and anchors; fast and easy installation at any depth of water, extremely large resistance due to its huge size, and easy retrieval by applying a positive suction pressure inside the pile, etc. Daewoo E&C Co., Ltd. has conducted a series of field suction pile installation and loading tests inside the Okpo harbor located in Geojedo and the Onsan harbor in Ulsan, Korea, during the summer of 2001, which may provide additional validation of the analytical solutions previously developed by the US Naval Facilities Engineering Service Center. This is a brief description of the general mechanisms of suction pile installation and loading capacity based on the study conducted by the US Navy and Daewoo E&C Co., Ltd.

토목섬유보강 성토지지말뚝시스템의 지반아칭에 관한 이론해석 (Theoretical Analysis of Soil Arching in Geosynthetic-Reinforced and Pile-Supported Embankment Systems)

  • 토목섬유보강 성토지지말뚝시스템에서 지반아칭에 의한 하중전이 특성을 규명할 수 있는 이론해석법을 개발하였다. 이론해석 결과, 성토지지말뚝에 토목섬유가 복합시공되면, 말뚝의 효율이 증가하였으며, 효율의 증대효과는 지반아치가 완전히 발달하기 이전인 저성토 구간에서 특히 두드러지게 나타났다. 또한, 이론해석법에 의한 하중전이는 말뚝의 간격, 성토고, 지반정수 및 토목섬유에 크게 영향을 받고 있다. 즉, 말뚝의 간격이 증가하면 말뚝의 효율은 감소하며, 성토고, 성토지반의 내부마찰각 및 토목섬유의 강도가 증가하면 효율이 커지게 된다. 이와같은 해석결과는 본 제안식이 토목섬유보강 성토지지말뚝시스템에서의 지반아칭효과를 잘 설명해주는 합리적인 해석법임을 나타내고 있다.

광양지역 고강도 강관 항타말뚝의 설계효율 향상 방안 연구 (Design Efficiency Improvement Method Research for High Strength Steel Pipe Pile at Gwangyang Area)

  • 소재의 고강도화와 항타에너지 상향 반영에 따른 강관말뚝의 거동특성을 분석하기 위하여 광양지역에 다양한 지름과 소재별로 총 10본의 말뚝을 시공하여 동재하시험, 정재하시험, 하중전이시험 등의 다양한 현장재하시험을 수행하였다. 항타관입성을 분석한 결과, PHC말뚝이 가장 많은 항타횟수와 가장 적은 관입깊이를 나타냈으며 고강도 강관말뚝에서 가장 적은 항타횟수와 깊은 관입깊이를 확인할 수 있어 고항타에너지에 의한 효과를 파악할 수 있었다. 동재하시험결과를 말뚝별로 비교한 결과, PHC말뚝과 일반 강관말뚝의 경우에는 재료의 허용축하중이 말뚝의 설계허용지지력을 결정하는 주요 변수인 것을 확인한 반면에 고강도 강관말뚝에서는 지반의 지지력에 의해 말뚝의 설계허용지지력이 결정되는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 정재하시험과 하중전이시험을 고강도 강관말뚝 2본에 대해서 수행한 결과, 말뚝의 설계효율을 80% 이상의 수준으로 향상할 수 있는 방안을 도출할 수 있었으며 이를 통해 소요 말뚝 본수 절감을 통한 공사비 절감이 가능함을 확인하였다. 대상 지역에서의 주면마찰력 set-up효과를 분석하여 적정 회귀식을 제시하였고 선단지지력에 대해서는 기존 설계식의 한계를 분석하여 향후 기술개발 방향을 제시할 수 있었다.
