  • This paper examines Haniwa costume in the Goboon period of Japan. The results are as follows. 1. Haniwa costume consisted of two pieces, the upper one and the lower one. Man wore Jacket and Pants, woman wore Jacket and Skirt ; besides, they wore several ornaments such as hats, necklaces, earings, bracelets. 2. When it was introduced, two-piece costume signified, symbolically, the authority of the chieftain and his near men wore it. 3. Before it was introduced, their proper costume had been the same kind of costume as Whoengpok-costume and Gwandu-costume, which was the primitive costume in the South countries. That costume was fit both for the hot and wet nature of Japan and for the working lower-class, so it was continuously worn by the lower-class after two-piece costume had been introduced. 4. In the Goboon period of Japan, a unified government with the class ruling was established for the first time. Thus, this social order was reflected in costume as a whole, and costume had such class-oriented features.

  • A material model has been presented, at the continuum level, for the representation of superplastic deformation coupled with microstructural evolution. The model presented enables the effects of the spatial variation of distributions of grain size to be predicted at the process level. The model has been tested under conditions of both homogeneous and inhomogeneous stress and strain by carrying out detailed comparison of predicted distributions of grain size and their evolutions with experimentally obtained data. Experimental measurements have shown the extent of the spatial variation of the distribution of grain size that exists in the titanium alloy, Ti-6Al-4V. It is shown that whilst not large, the variations in grain size distributions are sufficient to lead to the development of inhomogeneous deformation in test pieces, which ultimately result in localisation of strain and failure.

  • With emphasis on the importance of systems thinking for the establishment of learning organization, Senge in his famous book "The Fifth Discipline", explains in depth four disciplines such as personal mastery, mental models, shared vision, team learning, which are all geared up to the implementation of learning organization. However, two critical pitfalls are found: First, a holistic picture is absent in his presentation of learning organization, which just seems like a puzzle with linking pieces missing between disciplines. Secondly, as is often the case too much details are discussed in expense of insights on each discipline. This paper thus attempts to draw core metaphysical insights underlying Senge's learning organization disciplines by reinterpreting them from oriental perspectives; and to identify mechanisms depicting how they are working together as a whole, which is enabled by exploiting causal loop diagrams as a tool of systems thinking. In addition some thoughts on the implications of systems thinking on each of the learning organization disciplines.

  • 1. The isolated strips of guinea-pig, fowl and reptiles (snake and tortoise) showed consistenly excitatory responses to $PGE_1\;and\;E_2$, which were dose-dependent. 2. Frog intestine revealed inhibitory responses to both $PGE_1\;and\;PGE_2$ except a small of $PGE_2$ (1-10 ng/ml) caused slight contraction. 3. The intestines of pieces showed inconsistent responses to $PGE_1\;and\;E_2$. In fresh-water fish(carp), $PGE_1$ produced relaxation under the dose of 50 ng/ml, and contraction by the large doses, but $PGE_2$ consistently caused contraction in dose-dependent manner. However, the strips of sea-water fish revealed the different responses to PGE compound: $PGE_1$ caused relaxation and $PGE_2$ conversly contraction even though in small degree. 4. These results that there are genera differences in the responses of the longitudinal strips of intestine to $PGE_1\;and\;PGE_2$ was assumed to be possibly correlated with evolutionally primitive function of gut.

  • A new PIM in-process joining technique has been developed for more complicated and functional PIM components by application of the exuded wax from the green compacts during solvent debinding step. At first, various stainless steels and iron compacts with rectangular shape were combined, and the joining behaviors and properties were investigated by shear and tensile test, and microscopic observation. Subsequently, perfect joined three pieces of thin and hollow compacts were obtained for the combination of same and different stainless steels, and it was difficult to join the iron and stainless steel compacts in hydrogen atmosphere because of the different starting temperature of shrinkage. However, pretty good joined iron and stainless steel compacts were obtained by consideration of particle size and vacuum atmosphere. Finally, for the combination of ferro-silicon and austenitic stainless steel compacts, high functionality (magnetic (1.60Tes1a) & non-magnetic) and perfect joint were obtained.

  • The effects of inlet air temperature and atomizing pressure on the coating efficiency were evaluated using peanuts. Broken peanut pieces were coated with dextrin and sodium caseinate solution by a fluidized bed coater. The coating efficiency was significantly influenced by inlet air temperature and atomizing pressure, with the optimal efficiency achieved at $70^{\circ}C$ and 3 bar, respectively. The coating material consisting of dextrin and sodium caseinate could be used for preventing rancidity of broken peanut.

  • On designing the rectifying inspection plans of double sampling, the relations of the sample sizes $n_1$, $n_2$ and the acceptance numbers $c_1$, $c_2$ are obtained by using the Chi-square distribution. As the average number of pieces inspected per lot is a function of $c_1$ and $c_2$, the optimal solution is the values of $c_1^*$ and $c_2^*$ for which the average amount of inspection is a minimum. Then the values of $n_1^*$ and $n_2^*$ are easily obtained from the equations given by ($n_1$, $n_2$) and ($c_1$, $c_2$).

  • In this paper, we investigated methods to reduce SAR(Specific Absorption Rate) value with EMI(Electromagnetic Interference) paint distribution on front case of mobile handset. Simulations for several different EMI patterns were carried out. For the purpose of modeling, we used 3 dimensional CAD(Computer Aided Design) program, `Pro-engineering'. SAR simulation was done with SEMCAD, simulation platform for electromagnetic compatibility antenna design and dosimetry. In order to distinguish the individual pieces and to enable an assignment of the different material properties, each subfile was imported separately. In simulation, folding angle was set to $142^{\circ}.$ If we vary folding angle, different SAR value will be obtained. Among the tested EMI paint patterns, the hairpin pattern showed the best performance, i.e. the decrease efficiency of $16.5\%$ and horizontal-direction zigzag pattern showed the decrease efficiency of $12.2\%$ when we set the completely removed pattern as reference.

  • A small size broadband microstrip patch antenna with small ground plane has been fabricated using MEMS. Multiple layer substrates are used to realize small size and broadband characteristics. The microstrip patch is divided into 3 pieces and each patch is connected to each other using a metal microstrip line. The fabrication process is simple and only one mask is needed. Two types of microtrip antennas are fabricated. Type A is the micros trip antenna with metal lines and type B is the microstrip antenna without metal lines. The size of proposed microstip antenna is $8^{*}12^{*}2mm^{3}$ and the experimental results show that the antenna type A and type B have the bandwidth of 420 MHz at 5.3 GHz and 480 MHz at 5.66 GHz, respectively.
