Commencing with incandescent light bulbs, every load today creates harmonics. Unfortunately, these loads vary with respect to their amount of harmonic content and their response to problems caused by harmonics. The prevalent difficulties with harmonics are voltage and current waveform distortions. In addition, Electronic equipment like computers, battery chargers, electronic ballasts, variable frequency drives, and switching mode power supplies generate perilous amounts of harmonics. Issues related to harmonics are of a greater concern to engineers and building designers because they do more than just distort voltage waveforms, they can overheat the building wiring, cause nuisance tripping, overheat transformer units, and cause random end-user equipment failures. Thus power quality is becoming more and more serious with each passing day. As a result, active power filters (APFs) have gained a lot of attention due to their excellent harmonic compensation. However, the performance of the active filters seems to have contradictions with different control techniques. The main objective of this paper is to analyze shunt active filters with fuzzy and pi controllers. To carry out this analysis, active and reactive current methods ($i_d-i_q$) are considered. Extensive simulations were carried out. The simulations were performed under balance, unbalanced and non sinusoidal conditions. The results validate the dynamic behavior of fuzzy logic controllers over PI controllers.
This study focused on the psychrotrophic post-pasteurization contamination of fluid milk pro-ducts which were processed by HTST system. Pasteurized line samples and container samples of each fluid milk product (whole milk and skim milk) were taken in a large fluid milk plant. tine samples were collected through nine and five different sampling locations for whole milk and skim milk products, respectively. Each sample was subjected to preliminary incubation (PI) at 21$^{\circ}C$ for 16h followed by standard plate count (SPC) and crystal violet tetrazolium agar count (CVT). Flavor, SPC, and psychrotrophic bacteria count (PBC) were determined after 7 d at 7.2$^{\circ}C$. In addition, ten sequential container samples (packaged in 1000ml paperboard containers) were taken from a filler at the beginning of each product run. These samples were used for PI followed by SPC and CVT. In addition, flavor evaluations, SPC and PBC tests were conducted after 7,10, and 14 d at 7.2$^{\circ}C$. The mean PI-CVT values for the line samples showed differences depending on the location. There was major contamination between pasteurized storage tank and the filler. The PI-CVT counts for each container sample were negatively correlated with flayer scores at 10 and 140. There were good correlations among PI-CVT values of line samples and the percentage of total container samples with acceptable flavor after 10d.

The $pK_a$ values of benzoic acid and meta, para-halogen substituted benzoic acids in MeOH-$H_2O$ mixtures (0∼80% of MeOH) have been determined at 25$^{\circ}$C using a conductometric method on the basis of the Fuoss-Kraus equation, and further verified using modified conductometric method of Gelb. The dependence of $pK_a$ on halogen substituents has been discussed in terms of substituent-constant (${\sigma}$), which is devided into electron-withdrawing inductive contribution (${\sigma}_1$) and electron-donating ${\pi}$-resonance one (${\sigma}_R$). The linear-dependence of ${\sigma}_1$'s on $D^{-1}$ with positive slope and that of ${\sigma}_R$'s on $D^{-1}$ with negative slope have been interpreted on the basis of field effect and through-space interaction of ${\pi}$-lone pair of halogen substituent and ionization center via ${\pi}$-system of benzene ring.
Recently the stereo vision based on conics has received much attention by many authors. Conics have many features such as their matrix expression, efficient correspondence checking, abundance of conical shapes in real world. Extensions to higher algebraic curves met with limited success. Although irreducible algebraic curves are rather rare in the real world, lines and conics are abundant whose products provide good examples of higher algebraic curves. We consider plane algebraic curves of an arbitrary degree $n{\geq}2$ with a fully calibrated stereo system. We present closed form solutions to both correspondence and reconstruction problems. Let $f_1,\;f_2,\;{\pi}$ be image curves and plane and $VC_P(g)$ the cone with generator (plane) curve g and vertex P. Then the relation $VC_{O1}(f_1)\;=\;VC_{O1}(VC_{O2}(f_2)\;∩\;{\pi})$ gives polynomial equations in the coefficient $d_1,\;d_2,\;d_3$ of the plane ${\pi}$. After some manipulations, we get an extremely simple polynomial equation in a single variable whose unique real positive root plays the key role. It is then followed by evaluating $O(n^2)$ polynomials of a single variable at the root. It is in contrast to the past works which usually involve a simultaneous system of multivariate polynomial equations. We checked our algorithm using synthetic as well as real world images.

It is the approach of embedded system design that finds 3D scanning technology to analyze a real object or environment to collect data on its shape and appearance. 3D laser scanning developed during the last half of 20th century in an attempt to accurately recreate the surfaces of various objects. 1960s, early scanners used lights, cameras, and projectors to carry out the scanning in the lacks of performance which encountered many difficulties with shiny, mirroring, or transparent objects. The 3D scanning technology has leveled-up with helpful of embedded software platform research and design. In this paper, First we designed the hardware of laser/camera setup and turntable moving part which is the base of object. Second, we introduced the process of scanning 3D data with software and analyzed the resulting scanned image on the web server. Last, we made the 3D scanning embedded device with 3D printing model and experimented the 3D scanning performance with Raspberry Pi.
Solvatochromic effects and hydrogen bonding interactions of 4-hydroxy-4'-nitrostilbene(NSOH) were investigated. Electronic transition energies of NSOH have good correlation with Taft's $\pi$$^*$. The hydrogen bonding interactions can be accounted by analysis with equation of $\Delta$E= $\Delta$E$_0$ + s($\pi$$^*$ + d$\delta$) + a$\alpha$ + b$\beta$. From UV-visible absorption maximum energies, $\Delta$E = 81.2 kcal/mole - 6.66($\pi$$^*$ - 0.20$\delta$) - 0.66$\alpha$ - 1.93$\beta$ (corr.=0.970) was obtained, and from fluorescence intensity maximum energies, $\Delta$E= 70.07 kcal/mole - 21.6($\pi$$^*$ - 0.11d) - 1.74$\alpha$ - 2.73$\beta$ (corr.=0.947) was obtained. The micropolarity estimated at the solubilization sites is close to the polarity of water. The apparent Taft's $\pi$$^*$ values of solubilization sites are close to 1. Howcver, the solubilization sites for the fluorescent NSOH is rather nonpolar. Both NSOH and NSO$^-$ can be solubilized in CTAB and CTAC micelles and NSOH is the only species that can be solubilized in SDS and Brij-35 micelles.

In this paper we consider the problem of finding the triplet (S,${\pi}$,f), where $S{\subseteq}V$, ${\pi}$ is a sequence of nodes in S and $f:V{\backslash}S{\rightarrow}S$ for a given complete graph G=(V,E). In particular, there exist two costs, $c^V_{uv}$ and $c^D_{uv}$ for $(u,v){\in}E$, and the cost of triplet (S,${\pi}$,f) is defined as $\sum_{i=1}^{{\mid}S{\mid}}c^V_{{\pi}(i){\pi}(i+1)}+2$${\sum_{u{\in}V{\backslash}S}c^D_{uf(u)}$. This problem is motivated by the integrated routing of the vehicle and drone for urban delivery services. Since a well-known NP-complete TSP (Traveling Salesman Problem) is a special case of our problem, we cannot expect to have any polynomial-time algorithm unless P=NP. Furthermore, for practical purposes, we may not rely on time-exhaustive enumeration method such as branch-and-bound and branch-and-cut. This paper suggests the simple heuristic which is motivated by the MST (minimum spanning tree)-based approximation algorithm and neighborhood search heuristic for TSP.

In this paper, we introduce a charge pump phase-locked loop (PLL) architecture which employs a precharge phase frequency detector (PFD) and a sequential PFD to achieve a high frequency operation and a fast acquisition. Operation frequency is increased by using the precharge PFD when the phase difference is within $-{\pi}{\sim}{\pi}$ and acquisition time is shortened by using the sequential PFD and the increased charge pump current when the phase difference is larger than ${\pm}{\pi}$. So error detection range of the proposed PLL structure is not limited to $-{\pi}{\sim}{\pi}$ and a high frequency operation and a higher speed lock-up time can be achieved. The proposed PLL was designed using 1.5 ${\mu}m$ CMOS technology with 5V supply voltage to verify the lock in process. The proposed PLL shows successful acquisition for 200 MHz input frequency. On the other hand, the conventional PLL with the sequential PFD cannot operate at up to 160MHz. Moreover, the lock-up time is drastically reduced from 7.0 ${\mu}s\;to\;2.0\;{\mu}s$ only if the loop bandwidth to input frequency ratio is regulated by the divide-by-4 counter during the acquisition process. By virtue of this dual PFDs, the proposed PLL structure can improve the trade-off between acquisition behavior and locked behavior.
In this paper, a magnetic analysis of SRM(Switched Reluctance Motor) using 3d finite element method considering end-coil effect is presented. SRM models with different stator pole shapes are taken into consideration for the analysis of magnetic characteristics. It is observed that a stator pole shape model having a pole shoe depth is the most suitable one for railway traction application because it gives an improved inductance and torque characteristic. For a speed control of SRM, the PI and sliding mode controllers are applied to designed SRM with magnetic characteristic data obtained from the magnetic analysis. The simulations are carried out using Matlab-Simulink and the control performance is analyzed. By employing the sliding mode controller, the transient response as well as the steady-state error are much improved under a load variation of railway resistance under operation.

In this study, cell performance and thermal stability of lithium-ion cells with a polyimide (PI) separator are investigated. In comparison to conventional polyethylene (PE) separator, the PI separator exhibits distinct advantage in microporous structure, leading to superior reliability of the cell. The cells with PI separator exhibit good cell performances as same as the cells with PE separator, but their reliability was superior to the cell with PE separator. Especially in the hot-box test at 150 and 180℃, PI separator showed a contraction percentage close to 0% at 150℃, while the PE separator showed a contraction percentage greater than 10% in both width and length. Therefore, the PI separator can be the promising candidate for separators of the next generation of lithium-ion battery.
