  • To have more insight into the nature of plant, plant scientists carry out phytosociological studies on such plant species. The phytosociological studies on Tridax procumbens. Linn was carried out at Imo State University, Owerri, Imo State between the months of July and September, 2018. Tridax procumbens Linn grows abundantly in the areas under tropical climate and supported by a sandy-loam soil. Morphological features showed a range of variations. Phytosociological investigation showed a Tridax- Mitracarpus-Digitaria plant community. Tridax procumbens was positively associated with Digitaria horizontalis, Mitracarpus scarber and Vernonia cinera. The Inter-relationship of T. Procumbens was thus determined. This study therefore is a contribution to the general ecology of the plant. Phytosociological studies helps plant scientist to have more knowledge into the nature of plant species. This study is a contribution to the general ecology of the plant Tridax procumbens. The study also shows that it has close association with mitracarpus Scarber and Digitaria horizontalis. More work should be carried out to find out if these plant species flower and produce seeds at the same time or not.

  • Employing the relev$\acute{e}$ method of Muller-Dombois & Ellenberg and Braun-Blanquet, 100 plots were sampled in the Quercus mongolica community of Mt. Odae, Mt. Chumbong and Mt. Jungwang in Kangwon-do. To analyze the data, phytosociological method and TWINSPAN were used. 1. Quercus mongolica forests were recognized as Quercus mongolica-Acer pseudosieboldianum community group, and were classified into Quercus mongolica-Carpinus cordata community, Quercus mongolica-Acer pseudosieboldianum typical community, Quercus mongolica-Lespedeza maximocoiczii community and Quercus mongolica-Abies nephrolepis community by phytosociological method. Quercus mongolica-Carpinus cordata community was subdivided into Acer mandshuricum subcommunity and typical subcommunity. 2. According to the classification of TWINSPAN, it was categorized into five groups, such as Quercus mongolica-Acer mandshuricum community, Quercus mongolica-Carpinus cordata community, Quercus mongolica-Acer pseudosieboldianum community, Quercus mongolica-Lindera obtusiloba community, and Quercus mongolica-Abies nephrolepis community. 3. Since the results of phytosociological community classification, which identify five groups of the community, were consistent with that of TWINSPAN, it proved that these two methods could be complement when one do a community classification.

  • A phytosociological study of forest vegetation of Mt. Kaya was carried out from August 1988 to September 1992. The forest vegetation of the area was classified into 3 communities (Quercus monogolica community, Lindera erythrocarpa community, Pinus densiflora community) and 3 subunits (Rhododendron mucronulatum subunit, Platycarya strobilacea subunit, typical subunit of Pinusdensiflora community). The Pinus densiflora community was located at the lower altitudes (100~300m) than those of other communities. The Lindera erythrocarpa community was located at the upper altitude (500m). Most of the inverstigated area were occupied by the secondary forest of Pinus densiflora community in the actual vegetation map and the profile diagram, suggesting that it was frequently destroyed by human interference

  • This study was carried out to investigate the phytosociological method for analyzing vegetation composition, which would be one of the major keys of land use in Sinchun stream side-bed. The obtained results were as follows As the result of survey, following flora were observed. Most of plants composed of Graminea,Compositae, Leguminosae and Poligonaceae, 23, 17, 13 arid 9 species, respectively. In upper stream side-bed, E crus-galli var. caudata and Phragmites communis were well growed, which were effective for cleansing water. Otherwise both Polygonum species and Rumex were profused in Mid-stream side-bed and Down-stream side-bed, these plants were well growed in polluted stream. Key words: Phytosociological, Polluted stream, Sinchun stream side-bed, Taegu city.

  • This study was carried out to analyze Pinus densiflora forest in islets of southwestern coast of the Korean peninsula by the phytosociological methods. As a result of the investigation of 26 quadrats, the pine forest was classified two communities and six subcommunities : Ardisia japonica - Pinus densiflora community and lsodon japonicus - Pinus densiflora community, and Farfugium japonicum subcommunity, Quercus serrata subcommunity, Typical subcommunity of Ardisia japonica - P. densiflora community, Juniperus rigida subcommunity, Pourthiaea villosa subcommunity and Typical subcommunity of lsodon japonicus - P. densiflora community. The subsidiary knowledges from this study provide practical information to clarify the syntaxonomy of natural pine forest of the Korean peninsula by the phytosociological methods.

  • Phytosociological investigation of the forest vegeation was carried out in Kumo archipelago at the period of May 21th 1990 to May 29th 1990 by Braun-Blanquet's method. The forest vegetation was classified into 7 communities, Camellia japonica, Castanopsis cuspidata var. sieboldii, Machilus thunbergii, Camellia japonica-Pinus thunbergii, Camellia japonica-Torreya nucifera, Carpinus coreana and Quercus acutissima community. Based on the classification of communities, the actual vegetation maps were drawn in 1 : 50,000 scale.

  • A phytosociological study was carried out at the Castanopsis-Machilus type forests in Cheju Island. As the result, it has become clear that the alliance Castanopsion sieboldii and Cleyero-Quercion salicinae classified into the order Ardisio-Castanopsietallia sieboldii and the class Camellietae japonicae are distributed in Cheju Island. The Castanopsion sieboldii include Quercus glauca communiy, Arisaemato ringentis-Persetum thunbergii, Castanopsis sieboldii-Machilus thunbergii community and Castanopsis sieboldii-Quercus glauca community. The Cleyero-Quercion salicinae contains Distylio-Quercetum salicinae.
