A Study on the Body Shape classified by Sasang Constitutions and Gender using Physical Measurements (신체계측법을 이용한 사상체질별.성별 체형연구)

  • 1. Objectives The body shape is an important standard for the classification of Sasang Constitutions. Using physical measure­ments and statistical analysis we can understand it's characteristic objectively. 2. Methods In this study, we have measured body circumferences and widths of 562 patients who were treated with Sasang Constitutional medicine. Their anthropometric data were transformed into the ratio based on Sasang Constitutional medicine. 3. Results (1) Taeyangin female's ratio of iliac width to chest width was most large, but Taeyangin male's was most small. (2) Soyangin's ratios of axillary width to waist width and chest width to iliac width were large. that is, their uppor body was large and lower body was small. (3) Taeumin's ratios of head and neck circumference to body circumference were small. the ratio of waist width to axillary width was most large. (4) Soeumin's ratio of head circumference to waist circumference was most large. and their uppor and lower body was larger than middle body. (5) Irrespective of Sasang Constitutions, male's ratios of axillary width to waist width and chest width to iliac width were larger than female's. 4. Conclusions From the above results, when we classify Sasang Constitutions using physical measurements we must consider gender differences and characteristics of Sasang Constitutional body shape.

Comparison of Muscle Activities in Upper Extremity Muscles During the Knee-flexed and Standard Push-ups With Different Hand Shape (무릎 팔굽혀펴기와 표준 팔굽혀펴기 시 손 모양에 따른 어깨 근육의 근활성도 비교)

  • Background: Push-up are effective exercises for shoulder stability. Previous studies have documented the effects of support plane and hand position and width on muscle activities during a push-up. Objects: This study aimed to investigate the changes in muscle activities in the upper extremity when performing the standard and the knee-flexed push-up with different hand shapes. Methods: A total of twenty-six healthy males participated in this study. Three different hand shapes (finger abduction, finger adduction, and fists) and two types of push-up posture (standard and knee-flexed push-up) were set as the independent variables. Electrograms were used to measure the muscle activity of the upper trapezius (UT), triceps brachii (TB), pectoralis major (PM), and serratus anterior (SA). Each participant performed the randomly assigned push-up to the sound of the metronome. The mixed-effect linear regression model was used to detect the changes in muscle activities after changing the hand shape and push-up posture. Statistical significance was set at α = 0.05. Results: The UT muscle activity was statistically significantly higher when performing push-up with fists than finger abduction (p = 0.035) or finger adduction (p = 0.044). During the standard push-up, the muscle activity in all muscles was that the push-up with fists showed the highest muscle activity compared to the finger abduction (p < 0.01) and finger adduction (p < 0.01). Regardless of the shape of the hand, UT had the lowest muscle activity compared to other muscles (p < 0.001). In contrast, the SA muscle had the highest muscle activity among four muscles during the standard push-up. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, we suggest hand shape is related to the difficulty level of push-up either in the standard or the knee-flexed push-up, especially in the push-up with fists. In addition, knee push-up can be recommended as shoulder muscle-strengthening exercises for individuals with low shoulder muscle strength.

  • Anthropometric characteristics and considerations of sex differences anr essential for te correct design of ergonomic work spaces. This paper is concerned with longitudinal study on the physical growth in the Korean youth. Seven hundred thirty-seven subjects were selected from third year students of high schools, and their records on physical examination during the last twelve years were surveyed by longitudinal method. This study investigated the anthropometric characteristics of physical structure and the shape of physical growth for boys and girls. The result showed that there were significant sex differences in the pattern of physical growth.

  • Moving techniques is made up the physical moving status of the flow distinction modulus (FDM) and stream distinction modulus (SDM) on the shudder moving shape. Condition of the distinction modulus by the shudder moving shape is organized the dangle moving system. As to define the physical moving of special signal on the matter, we compared a shudder value of the flow distinction modulus on the flow state. The concept of stream distinction modulus is analyzed the reference of stream distinction signal and stream distinction signal by the stream state. For detecting a variation of the FDM-SDM of the maximum-minimum and average in terms of the moving shape, and shudder moving value that is a shudder value of the top variation of the $Top-{\varepsilon}$ MAX-MIN-AVG with $(-0.817){\pm}0.15$ units, that is a shudder value of the peripheral variation of the $Per-{\varepsilon}$ MAX-MIN-AVG with $(-2.53){\pm}(-0.11)$ units, that is a shudder value of the limbus variation of the $Lim-{\varepsilon}$ MAX-MIN-AVG with $(-0.29){\pm}0.03$ units, that is a shudder value of the center variation of the $Cen-{\varepsilon}$ MAX-MIN-AVG with $(-0.09){\pm}(-0.01)$ units. The dangle moving will be to assess at the capacity of the physical moving shape for the control degree of distinction modulus on the FDM-SDM that is showed the flow and stream shape by the distinction modulus system. Dangle distinction system is adjusted of a shape by the special moving and is included a shudder data of dangle moving modulus.

  • This paper describes one method of reverse engineering that machines a free form shape without descriptive model. A portable five-axes 3D CMM was used to digitize point data from physical model. After approximation by rational B-spline curve from digitized point data of a geometric shape, a surface was constructed by the skinning method of the cross-sectional design technique. Since a surface patch was segmented by fifteen part, surface merging was also implemented to assure the surface boundary continuity. Finally, composite surface was transferred to commercial CAD/CAM system through IFES translation in order to machine the modeled geometric shape.

  • After The Industrial Revolution in 18th century, constructions were done with universal material (concrete) in everywhere instead of using materials that are produced in each country because of development of industry material and transportation. This change caused the buildings to become trite with no local characteristics. Hereupon, the study intends to understand the essence of matter and restore various construction methods of each matter with the topic of 'Immateriality'. Immateriality is the revealed concept based on Materiality. Consequently the process and characteristics of immateriality shown on the works of Kuma Kengo and Herzog & de Meuron, three kinds of features can be found of immateriality expression mode. They are as in the following. First, there is a mode of transforming the shape and properties in physical or psychological way by observer. Second, there is a mode of conflating the shape and properties in physical or psychological way by observer. Third, there is a mode of mixing the shape and properties in physical or psychological way by observer.

  • The main-belt asteroid (5247) Krylov is known as a Non-Principal Axis (NPA) rotator. However, the shape model and spin state of this asteroid were not revealed. The physical model of an asteroid including spin state and shape is regarded to be important to understand its physical properties and dynamical evolution. Thus, in order to reconstruct the physical model of Kryolv, we applied the light curve inversion method using not only the optical light curves observed with ground-based telescopes in three apparitions during 2006, 2016, and 2017, but also the infrared light curves obtained with the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) in 2010. We found that it is rotating in Short Axis Mode (SAM) with the rotation and precession periods of 368.71 hr and 67.277 hr, respectively. The orientation of the angular momentum vector is (298°, -58°) in the ecliptic coordinate system. The ratio of moments of inertia of the longest axis to the shortest axis is Ia/Ic = 0.36; the ratio of moments of inertia of the intermediate axis to the shortest axis is Ib/Ic = 0.96. Finally, the excitation level of this asteroid is found to be rather low with a ratio of the rotational kinetic energy to the basic spin state energy as E/E0 ≃ 1.024. We will briefly discuss the possible evolutionary process of Krylov in this presentation.

Shape design for viscoelastic vibration isolators to minimize rotational stiffness (회전강성 최소화를 위한 절연요소의 형상 설계)

  • Design of shape for visco-elastic vibration isolation elements, which are very cost-effective and so popular in many applications is frequently based on experiences, intuitions, or trial and errors. Such traditions in shape design make it difficult for drastic changes or new concepts to come out. In this paper, both topological method and shape optimization method are combined together to find out a most desirable isolator shape efficiently by using two commercial engineering programs. ABAQUS and MATLAB. The procedure is divided into two steps. At the first step, a topology optimization method is employed to find an initial shape. where density of either 0 or 1 for finite elements is used for physical realizability. At the second step, based on the initial shape, finer tuning of the shape is done by boundary movement method. An illustration of the procedure will be presented for a mount of an air-conditioner compressor system and the effectiveness will be discussed.

Apparel Sizing System for Obese Men in There 20s (20대 비만 남성을 위한 의복 사이즈 체계에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is investigate the feature of the body shape of obese males and to propose a new apparel sizing system considering the body size of obese men through an the analysis of the body measurement of obese men in their twenties as reported in the 'Fifth Korean National Physical Standard Reports'. For this study, a new apparel sizing system for casual wear was proposed for obese men in their twenties after a body measurement of 159 obese men in their 20s with a BMI of 25 and over as reported in the 'Fifth Korean National Physical Standard Reports' conducted by SIZEKOREA. This study sought to investigate the features of obese men's bodies by comparing the body shape between obese men and ordinary men. The result of shows that width, depth and circumference items influencing the width size when producing clothes are larger in the case of an obese body shape than an ordinary body shape, and that the stature, total length, arm length and outside leg length influencing the length size are similar between an obese body shape and an ordinary body shape. Therefore, it was confirmed that an apparel sizing system specializing in clothes for obese customers is required. As a result of this study of the features of body shape, the control dimensions for such an apparel sizing system were determined to be the stature and chest circumference of upper garments and the stature and waist circumference(omphalion) for lower garments. The interval between the sizes was 5cm for the stature and was irregular for the chest and waste circumference. Consequently, 8 sizes were proposed for upper garments and 9 sizes were proposed for lower garments.
