All participants were assessed on berg balance scale(BBS), functional reach test(FRT), timed up&go test(TUG). Results : The data were analyzed using paired t-test. After 4 weeks exercise training, the result of this study were as follows: The BBS of the elderly was significant difference between test-retest(p<0.05). The TUG of the elderly were significant difference between test-retest(p<0.05). The Motion-Based game from FRT of the was more significant difference than stretching exercise program(p<0.05). we also found significant differences for both groups FRT scores, and changes in mean BBS, TUG scores, but BBS, TUG were not significant. Conclusion : We findings suggest that elderly women person could improve their standing balance through Motion-Based game exercise program, and stretching exercise program.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of a 12-month ki-gong exercise program on obesity, physical flexibility, blood pressure and blood sugar in rural populations. Method: A 12-month ki-gong exercise session was conducted from September 2008 until August 2009 with 61 village attendees at a Healthcare Clinic, as part of an Oriental herb program at the health center. Data was collected three times; before the program initiation, at six months and at the end of the program. A one-group repeated measures ANOVA test was conducted for statistical validation using SPSS 12.0. Results: Participants showed a decrease in obesity (F=10.166, p=0.02), body weight (F=10.861, p=0.002) and body fat (F=36.311, p=0.000). They also showed an increase in physical flexibility(F=24.627, p=0.000), while systolic blood pressure and (F=8.550, p=0.005) blood sugar (F=5.464, p=0.023) decreased. Conclusion: The results of this study indicates that ki-gong exercise exhibits beneficial effects in decreasing obesity, blood pressure and blood sugar and enhancing physical flexibility.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of task conditions (physical similarity between the spatial product and the reference space, presentation place of the spatial product) on children's spatial representation. The participants consisted of 40 3-year-olds and 40 4-year-olds. The results of this study are as follows. Both 3-year-olds and 4-year-olds were capable of a greater degree of spatial representation when there was a high level of physical similarity between the spatial product and the reference space, and when the presentation place of the spatial product was in the reference space. 4-year-olds were capable of more accurate spatial representation than 3-year-olds. There was no significant difference in the children's spatial representation depending on the type of spatial product (scale model, map). The results revealed that the physical similarity between the spatial product and the reference space and the presentation place of the spatial product are essential in young children's spatial representation. Additionally, the results indicated that spatial representation of children develops gradually from when they are three to when they turn four.
The aim of this study was to demonstrate the effects of silver spike point (SSP) low frequency electrical stimulation on plasma vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP) activities measured by radioimmunoassay from volunteer and the effects of VIP on pain substance-induced contraction investigated by isometric tension methode in animal. The current of 3 Hz continue type, but not 100 Hz continue type, of SSP low frequency electrical stimulation significantly increased in plasma VIP from normal volunteer. The pain substance, such as norepinephrine, serotonin, and prostaglandin $F2{\alpha}$, increased vascular smooth muscle contraction, respectively. These responses were inhibited by VIP applied cumulatively (1 nM - $1\;{\mu}M$), but not serotonin-induced contraction. In addition, serotonin, and prostaglandin $F2{\alpha}$ induced uterine smooth muscle contraction from rat. However, these responses were inhibited by VIP ($1\;{\mu}M$), only serotonin-induced contraction. These results suggest that the VIP regulates pain substance in part and that the SSP low frequency electrical stimulation, specifically current of 3 Hz continue type, significantly increases plasma VIP from volunteer.
Purpose: This study was to test the effectiveness of Web-based multimedia contents for Physical Examination and Health Assessment on learning achievement. Method: Multimedia contents based on Jung's teaching and learning structure model were used to enhance learning achievement. Learning achievement was measured by the knowledge of Physical Examination and Health Assessment. The participants of this study were students in a BSN and RN-BSN program in a university located in Seoul. 59 students in the experimental group received lectures using web-based multimedia contents and 75 students in the control group received regular lectures. Results: The mean score of the degree of educational achievement in the experimental group(mean=31.09) was significantly higher than in the control group(mean=25.55)(t=-3.883, p=.000). Conclusion: These web-based multimedia contents were found to maximizethe effectiveness of the teaching process when used as a teaching aid, and yet kept the strength of a face to face teaching learning method. This program is recommended as part of a main text, vital teaching aid or cyber lecture materials in nursing schools and in health care educational institutions.
Background: The purpose of this study is to compare axis change during cervical flexion and extension according to lordosis angle to patients with scoliosis. Methods: Movement axis change was estimated during cervical flexion and extension in twenty-four scoliosis patients with hypolordosis using radiography. Subjects were divided into mild lordotic curve group (MLCG, n=12, $34{\sim}25^{\circ}$) and severe lordotic curve group (SLCG, n=12, less $25^{\circ}$) according to cervical lordosis angle. Results: During cervical flexion, both group showed movement axis change to upper part of cervical vertebra and SLCG showed greater than MLCG but there is no significant difference. During cervical extension, SLCG showed greater than MLCG and there is significant difference. Conclusion: It is considered that cervical hypolordosis acts as important factor to scoliosis and degenerative joint disease because it leads to change of movement axis and central route of joint.
The Purpose of this study was ta investigate the change of bone density by Partial weight bearing and non-weight bearing exercise. Twelve female volunteers in good health (between 20 and 30 years of age) were studied as subjects. Subjects were divided into three groups; an experimental group 1(n =4 swimming group), group 2(n = 4 bicycle group) and control group=4. Before and after 11weeks(five times a week), the subjects were examined for change of bond density using a dual energy X-ray absorptiometry. The results were summarized as fellows T . There was increase in bone density of femoral neck in the group that swam but there was no difference in lumbar, femoral neck and femoral ward's triangle region (P<0.05) 2. There was increase in hone density of femoral ward's triangle in the group that swam but there was no difference in lumbar, femoral neck and femoral ward's triangle region(P<0.05) 3. After a aerobic exercise by partial weight bearing and non-weight bearing , there was no difference in the part of excessive muscle's exercise but there is the increase of the bone density in figures.

Purpose: This study examined the effects of action-observation training using the Y-Balance on the balance ability of young adults. Methods: Thirty-four healthy adults were randomized into an action-observation group (n=17) or a control group (n=17). All subjects performed the Y-Balance test before and after watching the video. The action observation group watched a video of someone performing a Y-Balance test, and the control group watched a video of scenery unrelated to the training. The subjects were measured through a Y-Balance test for both the length of the legs extended in three directions and the Y-balance composite score. Results: A significant difference in the Y-balance composite score was observed between the two groups. A part of the direction of the extended leg in the action observation group was increased significantly (posteromedial direction of the right leg, posterolateral direction of the right leg, posteromedial direction of left leg) compared to the control group. Conclusion: These results suggest that action observation training only could help improve balance.
