Research and development of haptic simulator for Dental education using Virtual reality and User motion

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop simulations that can be used for virtual education in dentistry. This development goal is to allow dental students to learn the necessary surgical techniques at the point of their choice, not going into the operating room, away from time, space, and physical limits. In this paper configuration, the optimization method is applied convergent, and when the operation of the VR contents is performed, the content data is extracted from the interaction analysis formed in the VR engine, and the data is processed by the content algorithm. It also computes events and dental operations generated within the 3D engine programming and generates corresponding events through data processing according to the input signal. The visualization information is output to the HMD using the rendering information. In addition, the operating room environment was constructed by studying lighting and material for actual operating room environment. We applied the ratio of actual space to virtual space and the ratio between character and actual person to create a spatial composition at a similar rate to actual space.

유니티 게임엔진을 활용한 메타버스 가상세계 구현 (Implementation of Metaverse Virtual World using Unity Game Engine )

  • Recently, metaverse has attracted great attention worldwide with the development of related technologies and the demand for on-tact systems. The ideal metaverse should constitute a virtual world more similar to the realistic society with physical interactions. However, there are many constraints when we construct a virtual world using the existing commercialized metaverse platform. In this paper, we design and implement a university campus-based metaverse which minimizes the constraints, and create a virtual environment maps very similar to the real-world using Unity engine, Photon cloud and Playfab SDK for multi-user accessible to virtual world as a personal avatar. Also, this work includes attractive interaction based on exchange between users. Lastly, we illustrate our implemented metaverse works on Android phone, and it works without difficulty in terms of performance.

선박디젤기관에 있어서 바이오연료가 배기배출물특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of the Characteristics of Exhaust Emissions by Using Bio Fuel in Marine Diesel Engine)

  • 최근 지구 온난화는 세계 경제발전으로 화석연료 사용이 주범으로 인식하고 있다. 이러한 화석연료를 감소하기 위한 연구는 여러 대체에너지 산업으로 발전하고 있으며, 그 중 우리나라에서 생산할 수 있는 연료는 바이오연료이다. 바이오연료는 화석연료에 의해서 발생하는 환경오염 문제를 줄이면서 경제적인 이익을 주는 지속 가능한 연료이다. 그래서 바이오연료를 친환경에너지로 전환시키는 재생에너지 등에 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 따라서 본 실험은 어선에서 사용했던 기관을 다시 리모델링하여 실험장치를 직접 제작 설치하였고, 여러 바이오연료를 사용하여 선박의 경제적이고 친환경적인 운항에 도움을 주고자 연구하였다. 유채유, 대두유, 폐유채유의 배기배출 물특성에 미치는 영향을 종합적으로 분석한 결과는 연료의 물리적, 화학적 성분이 비슷하여 선박용 엔진에 사용이 가능하고, 연료소비율과 NOx는 약간 증가하였으나, 매연은 많이 감소하는 경향이 확인되었다.

WISE 복합기상센서 관측 자료 품질관리시스템 (The WISE Quality Control System for Integrated Meteorological Sensor Data)

  • A real-time quality control system for meteorological data (air temperature, air pressure, relative humidity, wind speed, wind direction, and precipitation) measured by an integrated meteorological sensor has been developed based on comparison of quality control procedures for meteorological data that were developed by the World Meteorological Organization and the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), using time series and statistical analysis of a 12-year meteorological data set observed from 2000 to 2011 at the Incheon site in Korea. The quality control system includes missing value, physical limit, step, internal consistency, persistence, and climate range tests. Flags indicating good, doubtful, erroneous, not checked, or missing values were added to the raw data after the quality control procedure. The climate range test was applied to the monthly data for air temperature and pressure, and its threshold values were modified from ${\pm}2{\sigma}$ and ${\pm}3{\sigma}$ to ${\pm}3{\sigma}$ and ${\pm}6{\sigma}$, respectively, in order to consider extreme phenomena such as heat waves and typhoons. In addition, the threshold values of the step test for air temperature, air pressure, relative humidity, and wind speed were modified to $0.7^{\circ}C$, 0.4 hPa, 5.9%, and $4.6m\;s^{-1}$, respectively, through standard deviation analysis of step difference according to their averaging period. The modified quality control system was applied to the meteorological data observed by the Weather Information Service Engine in March 2014 and exhibited improved performance compared to the KMA procedures.

디젤기관에서 경유/부탄올 혼합연료의 기관성능 및 연소특성 해석 (Analysis of performance and combustion characteristics of D.O./butanol blended fuels in a diesel engine)

  • In this study, to investigate the effect of physical and chemical properties of butanol on the engine performance and combustion characteristics, the coefficient of variations of IMEP (indicated mean effective pressure) and fuel conversion efficiency were obtained by measuring the combustion pressure and the fuel consumption quantity according to the engine load and the mixing ratio of diesel oil and butanol. In addition, the combustion pressure was analyzed to obtain the pressure increasing rate and heat release rate, and then the combustion temperature was calculated using a single zone combustion model. The experimental and analysis results of butanol blending oil were compared with the those of diesel oil under the similar operation conditions to determine the performance of the engine and combustion characteristics. As a result, the combustion stabilities of D.O. and butanol blending oil were good in this experimental range, and the indicated fuel conversion efficiency of butanol blending oil was slightly higher at low load but that of D.O. was higher above medium load. The premixed combustion period of D.O. was almost constant regardless of the load. As the load was lower and the butanol blending ratio was higher, the premixed combustion period of butanol blending oil was longer and the premixed combustion period was almost constant at high load regardless of butanol blending ratio. The average heat release rate was higher with increasing loads; especially as butanol blending ratio was increased at high load, the average heat release rate of butanol blending oil was higher than that of D.O. In addition, the calculated maximum. combustion temperature of butanol blending oil was higher than that of D.O. at all loads.

평균 방법이 도시 난류 플럭스에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Different Averaging Operators on the Urban Turbulent Fluxes)

  • The effects of different averaging operators and atmospheric stability on the turbulent fluxes are investigated using the vertical velocity, air temperature, carbon dioxide concentration, and absolute humidity data measured at 10 Hz by a 3-dimensional sonic anemometer and an open-path $CO_2/H_2O$ infrared gas analyzer installed at a height of 18.5 m on the rooftop of the Jungnang KT building located at a typical residential area in Seoul, Korea. For this purpose, 7 different averaging operators including block average, linear regression, and moving averages during 100 s, 300 s, 600 s, 900 s, and 1800 s are considered and the data quality control procedure such as physical limit check and spike removal is also applied. It is found that as the averaging interval becomes shorter, turbulent fluxes computed by the moving average become smaller and the ratios of turbulent fluxes computed by the 100 s moving average to the fluxes by the 1800 s moving average under unstable stability are smaller than those under neutral stability. The turbulent fluxes computed by the linear regression are 85~92% of those computed by the 1800 s moving average and nearly the same as those computed by 900 s moving average, implying that the adequate selection of an averaging operator and its interval will be very important to estimate more accurate turbulent fluxes at urban area.

  • 우주 발사체의 운반능력을 향상시키기 위하여 고성능 다단연소사이클 엔진의 개발은 필수적이다. 그 중 연소기 헤드는 기체산화제의 유입을 위해 콘 형상으로 되어 있으며, 매니폴드는 매우 복잡한 구조를 가지고 있다. 이러한 헤드는 주조 방식이나 기계가공으로 제작되어 왔다. 기계가공의 한계나 주조재질의 특성과 재료의 한계성을 탈피하여 복잡하고 가공이 어려운 연소기 헤드의 제작 공정을 3D 금속 프린팅 공정을 이용하여 개선하는 기술을 확보하고자 한다. 현재 3D 금속 프린팅을 이용하여 주연소기에 사용할 수 있는 소재의 물성을 파악하고 프린팅 제작조건의 변화를 주는 공정개발을 통하여 더욱 낳은 물성을 확보하고, 이를 바탕으로 연소기 헤드를 제작하고, 접합공정을 개발하여 연소시험을 통해 그 성능을 입증하고 제작공정을 확립하고자 한다.

지상레이다의 PT-파형 수신신호와 항공기 추적정보를 이용한 항공기 도플러 프로파일 추출 (Doppler Profile Extraction to Air-Breathing Targets with PT-Waveform Received Signal and Target Tracking Information on a Ground Radar)

  • 본 논문에서는 지상레이다가 추적 중인 항공기로부터 획득한 수신신호를 이용하여 도플러 형상(signature)을 추출하였다. 이를 위해 펄스열(pulse train) 파형의 수학적 모델로부터 레이다의 도플러 해상도를 검증하고, 비행 중인 항공기 도플러 형상이 엔진에 대한 레이다 측각(aspect angle)과 엔진의 제원에 따라 결정됨을 보였다. 이를 확인하기 위해 비행 중인 항공기에서 반사된 레이다 수신신호를 레이다 수신신호 저장장치를 이용하여 획득하고, 수신신호로부터 도플러 형상을 추출한 후, 항공기 추적 정보로부터 엔진에 대한 레이다 측각을 추정하였다. 이들 결과를 조합하여 측각에 대한 상대 도플러 형상 차이를 확인하고, 레이다에 사용가능한 표적인식용 도플러 프로파일을 제안하였다.

자율주행 인공지능 알고리즘 연구를 위한 상용 게임 엔진 기반 초저가 드라이빙 시뮬레이터 개발 (Development of Commercial Game Engine-based Low Cost Driving Simulator for Researches on Autonomous Driving Artificial Intelligent Algorithms)

  • 본 논문은 자율주행 알고리즘 개발을 위한 저비용 드라이빙 시뮬레이터 구축 방법을 소개한다. 이는 물리엔진을 적용한 상용게임 소프트웨어인 GTA V를 활용하여 구현되며 자율주행 시스템에 필요한 다양한 센서 출력값 및 데이터를 에뮬레이션하는 기능을 내장한다. 이를 위해 GTA V 내부 데이터를 취득할 수 있는 Script Hook V의 NF를 활용하여 GT 데이터를 취득하고, 이를 활용하여 다양한 자율주행용 센서 데이터를 생성한다. 본문에서는 설계된 드라이빙 시뮬레이터의 전반적인 기능들을 소개하며, 개별 기능에 대한 검증을 수행한다. 자율주행 알고리즘 개발 환경 구축을 위해 게임 엔진 내부 메모리 접근을 통한 GT 데이터를 취득하는 과정을 설명하고, 에뮬레이션된 센서값을 처리 및 활용하여 인공 신경망 학습 및 성능평가에 적용 가능한 예시를 제시한다.

Correlation Between Knee Muscle Strength and Maximal Cycling Speed Measured Using 3D Depth Camera in Virtual Reality Environment

  • Background: Virtual reality (VR) programs based on motion capture camera are the most convenient and cost-effective approaches for remote rehabilitation. Assessment of physical function is critical for providing optimal VR rehabilitation training; however, direct muscle strength measurement using camera-based kinematic data is impracticable. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a method to indirectly estimate the muscle strength of users from the value obtained using a motion capture camera. Objects: The purpose of this study was to determine whether the pedaling speed converted using the VR engine from the captured foot position data in the VR environment can be used as an indirect way to evaluate knee muscle strength, and to investigate the validity and reliability of a camera-based VR program. Methods: Thirty healthy adults were included in this study. Each subject performed a 15-second maximum pedaling test in the VR and built-in speedometer modes. In the VR speedometer mode, a motion capture camera was used to detect the position of the ankle joints and automatically calculate the pedaling speed. An isokinetic dynamometer was used to assess the isometric and isokinetic peak torques of knee flexion and extension. Results: The pedaling speeds in VR and built-in speedometer modes revealed a significantly high positive correlation (r = 0.922). In addition, the intra-rater reliability of the pedaling speed in the VR speedometer mode was good (ICC [intraclass correlation coefficient] = 0.685). The results of the Pearson correlation analysis revealed a significant moderate positive correlation between the pedaling speed of the VR speedometer and the peak torque of knee isokinetic flexion (r = 0.639) and extension (r = 0.598). Conclusion: This study suggests the potential benefits of measuring the maximum pedaling speed using 3D depth camera in a VR environment as an indirect assessment of muscle strength. However, technological improvements must be followed to obtain more accurate estimation of muscle strength from the VR cycling test.
