  • For photovoltaic power generation need certainly decreasing module's price and increasing promote efficiency technology. Almost of solar panel is on the decrease energy efficiency since 2,000. like silicone(Si) solar panel, thin film solar panel and etc. Silicone(Si) solar panel was best efficiency in 1999. It's 24%. But after that time, It didn't pass limit of energy efficiency. That's why, nowadays being issued that using III-V compound semiconductor to high efficiency of concentrating photovoltaic system for making an alternative proposal. In Korea, making researches in allied technology with III-V compound semiconductor solar panel, condenser technology, and solar tracker. but feasibility study for concentrating photovoltaic power generation hasn't progressed yet. This thesis made a plan about CPV(Concentrating Photovoltaic)system and CPV has a higher energy efficiency than PV(Photovoltaic)system in fine climate conditions from comparing CPV with using silicone(Si) solar panel to PV's efficiency test result.

  • In this paper, the shading ratio about to output the minimum critical power of a photovoltaic panel was determined by experiment and simulation. A 2.475[kW] poly-crystalline photovoltaic panel consisting of 11 modules was used in the experiment and its surface was covered with shading curtains, thus the amount of light incident to the modules were controlled. In order to compare with the experimental results, the experimental circuits were modelled with the CASPOC (power electronics electrical drives simulator) and module parameters were applied to it, by which the minimum critical power was calculated. As a result, the photovoltaic panel was about to generate the power when the 5th shading curtains were removed from the module surface, after then the output power linearly increased by removing the shading curtains. In addition, the CASPOC simulation results were similar to the experimental results in the abrupt decreasing pattern of power.

  • Photovoltaic panels are hazardous electronic waste that has heavy metal as one of the hazardous components. Each year, hazardous electronic waste is increasing worldwide and every heavy rainfall exposes the photovoltaic panel to become the source of heavy metal soil contamination. the development needs a monitoring technology for this hazardous exposure. this research use relationships between SAR temporal baseline and coherence of Sentinel-1 satellite to detected photovoltaic panel. Also, the photovoltaic plant detection tested using the difference between that photovoltaic panel and the other difference surface of coherence. The author tested the photovoltaic panel and its environment to calculate differences in coherence relationships. As a result of the experiment, the coherence of the photovoltaic panel, which is assumed to be a permanent scatterer, shows a bias that is biased toward a median value of 0.53 with a distribution of 0.50 to 0.65. Therefore, further research is needed to improve errors that may occur during processing. Additionally, the author found that the change detection using a temporal baseline is possible as the rate of reduction of coherence of photovoltaic panels differs from those of artificial objects such as buildings. This result could be an efficient way to continuously monitor regardless of weather conditions, which was a limitation of the existing optical satellite image-based photovoltaic panel detection research and to understand the spatial distribution in situations such as photovoltaic panel loss.

  • In this paper, we have designed a solar photovoltaic system to attach solar photovoltaic modules to each module and develop the best efficiency in each module. The efficiency of the designed solar panel optimizer was more than 99.27% and MPPT efficiency of 99.66%. In addition, the monitoring of power generation and abnormal operation phenomenon in each optimum period and tracking for failure location of specific photovoltaic module have improved the utilization rate of photovoltaic power generation. Wired and wireless communication methods has been proposed to monitor the power generation and operation status of the solar panel optimizer. For this purpose, the RS485 communication was used for wire communication and Zigbee communication was used for wireless communication to monitor the status of each module in real time. It is shown that communication redundancy can be achieved through the proposed method, and the possibility of commercialization is suggested.

  • For the economic management of photovoltaic power plants, it is necessary to regularly monitor the panels within the plants to detect malfunctions. Thermal infrared image cameras are generally used for monitoring, since malfunctioning panels emit higher temperatures compared to those that are functioning. Recently, technologies that observe photovoltaic arrays by mounting thermal infrared cameras on UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) are being developed for the efficient monitoring of large-scale photovoltaic power plants. However, the technologies developed until now have had the shortcomings of having to analyze the images manually to detect malfunctioning panels, which is time-consuming. In this paper, we propose an automatic photovoltaic panel area extraction algorithm for thermal infrared images acquired via a UAV. In the thermal infrared images, panel boundaries are presented as obvious linear features, and the panels are regularly arranged. Therefore, we exaggerate the linear features with a vertical and horizontal filtering algorithm, and apply a modified hierarchical histogram clustering method to extract candidates of panel boundaries. Among the candidates, initial panel areas are extracted by exclusion editing with the results of the photovoltaic array area detection. In this step, thresholding and image morphological algorithms are applied. Finally, panel areas are refined with the geometry of the surrounding panels. The accuracy of the results is evaluated quantitatively by manually digitized data, and a mean completeness of 95.0%, a mean correctness of 96.9%, and mean quality of 92.1 percent are obtained with the proposed algorithm.

  • One of the most effective methods for utilizing solar energy is to combine thermal solar and optical energy simultaneously using a hybrid panel. Many systems using various kinds of photovoltaic panels have already been constructed. But utilizing solar energy by means of a hybrid panel with concentrator has not been to be attempted yet. Normally if sunlight is directed on the solar cell, and there is no increase in temperature, the absorption energy of each cell will increase per unit area. In a silicon solar cell. however, cell conversion efficiency decreases according to the increasing temperature. Therefore, to maintain cell conversion efficiency under normal condition, it is necessary to keep the cell at operating temperature. we design and make new hybrid panel with cooling system to prevent increasing of temperature on cell, collect effectively thermal energy. We compared performance of new hybrid panel with PV module and thermal panel. We also evaluated conversion efficiency, electric power and thermal capacity and confirmed cooling effect from thermal absorption efficiency.

  • The use of drones is gradually increasing for the efficient maintenance of large-scale renewable energy power generation complexes. For a long time, photovoltaic panels have been photographed with drones to manage panel loss and contamination. Various approaches using artificial intelligence are being tried for efficient maintenance of large-scale photovoltaic complexes. Recently, semantic segmentation-based application techniques have been developed to solve the image classification problem. In this paper, we propose a classification model using semantic segmentation to determine the presence or absence of failures such as arcs, disconnections, and cracks in solar panel images obtained using a drone equipped with a thermal imaging camera. In addition, an efficient classification model was implemented by tuning several factors such as data size and type and loss function customization in U-Net, which shows robust classification performance even with a small dataset.

  • Photovoltaic (PV) panels are used in high-rise buildings to convert solar energy to electricity. Due to the considerable energy consumption of high-rise buildings, applying PV technology is of great significance to energy saving. In the application of PV panels, one of the most important construction issues is the connection of the PV panel with the main structures. One major difficulty of the connection design is that the PV panel connection consists of two separate components with coupling and indeterminate dimension. In this paper, the gap element is employed in these two separated but coupled components, i.e., hook and catch. Topology optimization is applied to optimize and design the cross-section of the PV panel connection. Pareto optimization is conducted to operate the optimization subject to multiple load scenarios. The initial design for the topology optimization is determined by the common design specified by the Technical Code for Glass Curtain Wall Engineering (JGJ 102-2003). Gravity and wind load scenarios are considered for the optimization and numerical analysis. Post analysis is conducted for the optimal design obtained by the topology optimization due to the manufactory requirements. Generally, compared with the conventional design, the optimized connector reduces material use with improved structural characteristics.
