The Lipids content of sea mussels was studied and the composition of neutral lipids, glycolipids, and phospholipids were analyzed for the sea mussels obtained from Pusan area in Korea. Fatty acids were found in roder of neutral lipid, phospholipid and glycolipid. total lipids and fatty acids were appeared higher in Mytilus edulis then Mytilus cosuscus. The neutral lipids showed to be approximately 50% of 새심 lipids in Mytilus coruscus and mytilus edulis. The phospholipids showed no significant differences between male and female of Mytilus edulis. The major fatty acids were consisted of C 16 : 0, C16 : 1, C18 ; 1 and C22: 6 in order. The level of C16 :0 with saturated acid was highest in lipids. The level of C18 :1 . C18 :2, C22 : 6 were higher in Mutilus edulis than Mytilus coruscus. $\omega$$_3$ High unsaturated fatty acid essential fatty acids C20 : 5, C22 ; 6 were higher in Mytilus edulis than Mytilus coruscus.
The lipid composition of total serum lipids were investigated by latroscan TH-10 TLC analyzer in 69 healthy subjects and 62 patients with hypercholesterolemia. Total serum lipids level in healthy subjects was higher in females than males. There was a increase in total serum lipids level with increasing total serum cholesterol level in patients with hypercholesterolemia, regardless sex. Total serum lipids obtained from healthy subjects and patients with hypercholesterolemia were separated into phospholipids, free cholesterol, free fatty acids, triglycerides and cholesterol esters. Increasing the level of total serum cholesterol in the patients resulted in a decrease in the level of phospholipids, which was a major lipid fraction, indicating that HDL level in the patients was also decreased. However, cholesterol esters, triglycerides and free cholesterol levels in the patients were higher than those found in healthy subjects. The FC/CE ratio for male patients was lower than for healthy males, while in female patients, this ratio was similar to that observed in healthy females.
To examine the effects of pomegranate on cerebral blood flow and obesity, we observed regional cerebral blood flow in normal rats, as well as body weight, serum total cholesterol, serum HDL-cholesterol, serum LDL-cholesterol, serum triglycerides, serum total lipids, serum phospholipids and serum free fatty acid levels in rats fed a high fat diet. The results were as follows. Pomegranate seed extract significantly increased regional cerebral blood flow and the peel extract increased regional the cerebral blood flow in a dose dependent manner. In addition, the pomegranate extracts(seed, peel, juice) decreased body weight, serum total cholesterol, serum LDL-cholesterol, serum triglycerides, serum total lipids, serum phospholipids and serum free fatty acid levels, and increased serum HDL-cholesterol in the rats fed a high fat diet. More specially the seed extract significantly decreased serum total cholesterol, serum triglycerides and serum phospholipid levels.

A surface acoustic wave(SAW) sensor for the detection of odorants has been constructed by depositing various phospholipids and fatty acids onto the surface of the SAW device. Applying the Langmuir-Blodgett technique, it was possible to deposit the optimal number of layers which was found to be between 10 and 20. Menthone, amylacetate, acetoin, and other organic gases showed different affinities to the coated lipids. An explanation is given for different odorant affinities based on the monolayer properties of phospholipids.
Permeabilization is known to overcome cell membrane barriers of whole cell biocatalysts. The use of organic solvents is advantageous in terms of cost, simplicity, and efficiency. In this study, Ochrobactrum anthropi SY509 was permeabilized with various organic solvents. Treatment with organic solvents resulted in lower permeability barriers due to falling out lipids of the cell membrane. Therefore, permeabilized cells showed higher enzyme activity with no cell viability. Among various organic solvents, 0.5% (v/v) chloroform was selected as the most efficient permeabilizing reagent. Changes in the cell membrane structure were observe d and the residual amounts of phospholipids of the cell membrane were measured to investigate the mechanism of the improved permeability.
To study the response to plant growth by the environmental factors, the effects of application of nitrogen on changes in the yield, crude protein, amino acids, chlorophyll, carotene, total phosphorus, acid-soluble phosphorus, phospholipids, RNA, and DNA were investigated with westerworlds 9Lolium sublatum) and perennial rye-grasses (Lolium perenne). The amounts of dry weight, crude protein, amino acids, chlorophyll, carotene, total phosphorus, acid-soluble phosphorus, phospholipids, RNA and DNA of both rye-grasses increased with adequately increasing nitrogen, and reached a maximum with an adequate application of nitrogen. The relationships between yields and crude protein contents, crude protein and RNA contents, and yields and RNA contents of westerworlds and perennial rye-grasses were found to be positively correlated, respectively. Therefore, in general, the response to plant growth by the environmental factors such as nitrogen nutrient may be summarized as follows: Environmental factors\longrightarrowDNA\longrightarrowRNA\longrightarrowProtein\longrightarrowPlant growth

A surface acoustic wave(SAW) sensor for the detection of odorants has been constructed by depositing various phospholipids and fatty acids onto the surface of the SAW device. Applying the Langmuir-Blodgett technique. it was possible to deposit the optimal number of layer which was found to be between 10 and 20. The characteristics of a SAW device operating at 310 MHz deposited with phosphatidyl choline were analysed. Menthone, amylacetate, acetion, and other organic gases sho7\\\\`ed different affinities to the coated lipids. An explanation is given for differant odorant affinities based on the monolayer properties of phospholipids. The identification of odorants depending on the type of lipid used for coating is discussed in terms of a comparison of their normalized resonant frequency chi It pat terns. Using a number of different lipid-coated SAW devices. odorants can be identified by a computerized pattern recognition algorithm.
Decay of the spin label attached to cytochrome c or to stearic acid has been measured by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy to monitor membrane oxidation induced by cytochrome c-membrane interaction. Binding of cytochrome c sequestered the acidic phospholipids and membrane oxidation was efficient in the order linoleic oleic>stearic acid for a fatty acid chain in the acidic phospholipids. The spin label on cyt c was destroyed at pH 7 whereas that on stearic acid embedded in the membrane was destroyed at pH 4, presumably due to different modes of cyt c-membrane interaction depending on pH. Interestingly, cyt c also interacts with phosphatidylethanolamine, an electrically neutral phospholipid, to cause rapid membrane oxidation. Both EPR and fluorescence measurements indicated that electrostatic interaction is at least partially responsible for the process.
To obtain an edible grade oil from crude oil extracted from oil-bearing materials, it is generally necessary to carry out a refining process composed with degumming, deacidification, bleaching, and deodorization, to remove undesirable matters which affect the quality and shelf life of oils. The main purpose of degumming is to remove gum material mainly consisted with phospholipids. Phospholipases convert nonhydratable phospholipids into their hydratable forms which can be removed by centrifugation. In comparison with conventional water and acid degumming processes, enzymatic degumming can result the lower phosphatide content in oil than conventional processes. The enzymatic degumming can be conducted with the reduced amount of acid, and contributes to generate less amount of wastewater, decrease of operating cost, and increase oil recovery yield. The phospholipases used in enzymatic degumming process are phospholipase A1, A2, B, and C.
In the case of occlusive dressings currently used in dressings for burn treatment, it is impossible to confirm the replacement time, so replacement is delayed, resulting in additional infection. To solve this problem, liposomes capable of bacterial sensing were prepared using 5(6)-Carboxyfluorescein, Phosphatidylcholine, 1,2-Dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine, Cholesterol, and 10,12-Tricosadiynoic acid. In this study, evaluation of changes in drug encapsulation rate in liposomes according to changes in three types of phosphatidylcholine phospholipids during liposome production, high-performance phosphatidylcholine phospholipids selected through vesicle size analysis, low and high temperature stability evaluation, bacterial sensitization ability evaluation, animals cell responses were assessed.
