To identify the locations and strengths of acoustic sources, one may use a microphone line array. Apparent advantage of the source identification method utilizing a line array is that it requires less measurement points than intensity method and holography. This method is based on the information of magnitude and phase difference between pressure signals at each microphone. Since those differences are dependent on the source model, we have to assume them such as plane, monopole, etc. In this paper the conventional source identification methods such as beamforming method and MUSIC method are briefly reviewed by modeling a source as plane and spherical wave, then a modified method is introduced. This can be applied to sound field which may by either coherent or incoherent. Typical simulations and experiment are performed to confirm this identification method.
This paper presents a comparison of the black-box and the physics based derived gray-box models for subspace identification for structures subjected to support-excitation. The study compares the damage detection capabilities of both these methods for linear time invariant (LTI) systems as well as linear time-varying (LTV) systems by extending the gray-box model for time-varying systems using short-time windows. The numerically simulated IASC-ASCE Phase-I benchmark building has been used to compare the two methods for different damage scenarios. The efficacy of the two methods for the identification of stiffness parameters has been studied in the presence of different levels of sensor noise to simulate on-field conditions. The proposed extension of the gray-box model for LTV systems has been shown to outperform the black-box model in capturing the variation in stiffness parameters for the benchmark building.
A ghost cancelling method using the multiplicationless adaptive multipath channel identification is proposed. The IIR filter and the LMS algorithm are used for ghost cancelling. The coefficients of IIR filter are obtained by multipath channel identification. The LMS algorithm which is simple relatively is used as the adaptive algorithm. An MPS is selected as the reference signal and it is used as the input of the adaptive algorithm for the multipath channel identification. If an MPS is not exist, the horizontal syne, and color burst signal can be used as the reference signal. Improving of accuracy of the ghost cancelling in the presence of the phase variation in the multipath channel, a complex processing are also performed.

This paper proposed a new real-time parameter tracking algorithm. Unlike the convenience algorithms, the proposed real-time parameter tracking algorithm can estimate parameters through three-phase voltage and electric current without coordination transformation, and does not need information on magnetic flux. Therefore, it can estimate parameters regardless of the change according to operation point and cross-saturation effect. In addition, as the quasi-real-time parameter tracking technique can estimate parameters through the four fundamental arithmetic operations instead of complicated algorithms such as numerical value analysis technique and observer design, it can be applied to low-performance DSP. In this paper, a new real-time parameter tracking algorithm is derived from three phase equation. The validity and usefulness of the proposed inductance estimation technique is verified by simulation and experimental results.
In this paper, we suggest a new space vector PWM modulation method with very short processing time which does not need identification of nearest three vectors(NTV) and duty ratio for each vector. The suggested PWM method makes mean value of phase voltage to be same as reference during every modulation period by use of a triangle in small hexagon on multi-level vector space. This paper described the suggested modulation method can be successfully applied to the space vector modulation use of multi-level inverter by computer simulations and experiments.

Neural Networks (henceforth NNs, with adjective "artificial" implied) has been used in the field of control however, has a long way to fit to its abilities. One of the best ways to aid it is "supporting it with the knowledge about the linear classical control theory". In this regard we hive developed two kinds of parametric activation function and then used them in both identification and control strategy. Then using a nonlinear tank system we are to test its capabilities. The simulation results for the identification phase is promising. phase is promising.
In this study, the severity of damage in tendon anchorage caused by the loss of tendon forces is quantitatively identified by using the PZT interface-based impedance monitoring technique. Firstly, a 2-DOF impedance model is newly designed to represent coupled dynamic responses of PZT interface-host structure. Secondly, the 2-DOF impedance model is adopted for the tendon anchorage system. A prototype of PZT interface is designed for the impedance monitoring. Then impedance signatures are experimentally measured from a laboratory-scale tendon anchorage structure with various tendon forces. Finally, damage severities of the tendon anchorage induced by the variation of tendon forces are quantitatively identified from the phase-by-phase model updating process, from which the change in impedance signatures is correlated to the change in structural properties.
Concrete undergoes significant phase changes from liquid to solid states as hydration progresses. These phase changes are known as the setting process. A liquid state concrete is electrically conductive because of the presence of water and ions. However, since the conductive elements in the liquid state of concrete are consumed to produce non-conductive hydration products, the electrical conductivity of hydrating concrete decreases during the setting process. Therefore, the electrical properties of hydrating concrete can be used to monitor the setting process of concrete. In this study, a parameter identification method to estimate electrical parameters such as ohmic resistance of concrete is proposed. The effectiveness of the proposed method for monitoring the setting process of concrete is experimentally validated.
The vibration of a flexible cantilever tube with nonlinear constraints when it is subjected to flow internally with fluids is examined by experiment and theoretical analysis. These kind of studies have often been performed that finds the existence of chaotic motion. In this paper, the important parameters of the system leading to such a chaotic motion such as Young's modulus and coefficient of viscoelasticity in tube material are discussed. The parameters are investigated by means of a system identification so that comparisons are made between numerical analysis using the parameters of a handbook and the experimental results. The chaotic region led by several period-doubling bifurcations beyond the Hopf bifurcation is also re-established with phase portraits and bifurcation diagram so that one can define optimal parameters for system design.
It is important to identify the exact target optical cable that a worker look for when he executes a cable construction work. Until now, An Optical cable identification work has been done by a manual pulling of an optical cable or by the method of using RF signals. But these methods not only consume much time and labor costs but also have a distance limit of the optical cable to identify. In this paper, we propose a method that uses the phase change signal of the optical interferometer to identify an optical cable. With the proposed method the field worker can have an efficient tool to prevent miscutting the optical cable and can also save operating costs.
