This paper proposes a programmable low pass filter(LPF) to estimate stator flux for speed sensorless stator flux orientation control of induction motors. The programmable LPF is developed to solve the dc drift problem associated with a pure integrator and an analog LPF with fixed pole. of the programmable LPF is located far from the origin in order to decrease the time constant as speed increases. The programmable LPF has the phase and the magnitude compensator to exactly estimate stator flux in a wide speed range. So, the drift problem is much improved and the stator flux is exactly estimated in the wide speed range. The validity of the proposed programmable LPF is verified by speed sensorless vector control of a 2.2[kW] three-phase induction motor.

The present article researches large-amplitude thermal free vibration characteristics of nonlocal two-phase piezo-magnetic nano-size beams having geometric imperfections by considering piezoelectric reinforcement scheme. The piezoelectric reinforcement can cause an enhanced vibration behavior of smart nanobeams under magnetic field. All previous studies on vibrations of piezoelectric-magnetic nano-size beams ignore the influences of geometric imperfections which are crucial since a nanobeam is not always ideal or perfect. Nonlinear governing equations of a smart nanobeam are derived based on classical beam theory and an analytical trend is provided to obtain nonlinear vibration frequency. This research shows that changing the volume fraction of piezoelectric phase in the material has a great influence on vibration behavior of smart nanobeam under electric and magnetic fields. Also, it can be seen that nonlinear vibration behaviors of smart nanobeam is dependent on the magnitude of exerted electric voltage, magnetic imperfection amplitude and substrate constants.
This paper described partial discharge(PD) patterns depending on types of insulation defects in CNCO-W cable(Concentric Neutral Closs-linked Polyethylene Insulated Polyolefin-Water Proof Sheathed Power Cable). The PD measurement system consists of a coupling network, a detection impedance, and a low noise amplifier. A 16 bit, 250 MS/s data acquisition system was used to analyze PD patterns. To simulate insulation defects in a power cable, a needle with the curvature radius of $10{\mu}m$ was inserted into the insulation part. We measured phase ($\Phi$), magnitude (q), and counts (n) of PD pulse for the defects, and classified PD patterns using the PRPD (phase Resolved Partial Discharge) method. From the analysis of acquired PD signals, we could find that a unique PD pattern is formed according to the types of defect.
Partially stabilized zironia with magnesia (Mg-PSZ) is known as one of the toughest monolithic ceramics. However, the very large grain sizes obtained after sintering at a high solution-heat treatment temperature in the cubic region of the phase diagram limit the strength of this material rather modest. In this study fine-grained Mg-PSZ materials were fabricated by adding TiC particles as a dispersed phase. Samples were hot-pressed at $1750^{\circ}C$ and then annealed at $1420^{\circ}C$ for various times. Grain growth was retarded severely by the TiC particles resulting in grain sizes smaller by more than one order of magnitude than those of PSZ without TiC. The fine-grained microstructure lead to doubly-increased fracture strength while maintaining the same level of high fracture toughness as that of conventional Mg-PSZ without TiC particles.
The substituent effects in the gas-phase rearrangement of carbenes to ketenes involved in the Wolff reaction have been investigated theoretically using the AM1 method. In the initial state, carbene, there is a relatively strong vicinal n-σ* interaction between the lone pair (n) and carbonyl group (σ*). In the bridged transition state (TS), electronic charge is transferred from the migrating ring (Z-ring) toward the nonmigrating ring (Y-ring). The carbenes are stabilized by an electron donor Y (δσY < 0) whereas the TS is stabilized by an electron acceptor Y (δσY > 0). Multiple regression analysis of log (kYZ/kHH)(=-δΔG≠/2.3RT) leads to a relatively large negative cross-interaction constant, ρYZ=-0.53, log (kYZ/kHH)=2.96 σY--1.40 σZ-0.53 σY-σZ reflecting an extensive structural change in the transition state due to the stabilization of the initial state by the vicinal n-σ* overlap. When the solvent (water) effects are accounted for by the SM2.1 model of the Cramer and Truhlar method, the magnitude of all the selectivity parameters, ρY-, ρZ and ρYZ (=-0.66) are increased.

In this paper, a 100~110 GHz LNA and A coupler using standard 65 n CMOS process is presented. The LNA consists of three common source FET stages. A few layout types are considered to get high gain characteristic of unit common source cell. Also, optimized performance to achieve low noise characteristic and enough gain. Coupler is composed of broadside coupler using multimetal in CMOS fabrication. In the coupler, the metal strip to meet density rule is used, and the coupler is designed with consideration of the metal strip to function properly. Gain of fabricated LNA is 5.64 dB at 100 GHz and 6.39 dB at 110 GHz. Bandwidth is over 10 % and noise figure is 11.66 dB at 100 GHz. Fabricated coupler has shown insertion loss of 2~3 dB at 100~110 GHz band. Magnitude mismatch of coupler is below 1 dB and phase mismatch of coupler is below $5^{\circ}$.

Thin films of ZrO$_2$ and TiO$_2$ were deposited on Si(100) substrates using RF magnetron sputtering technique. To study an influence of the sputtering parameters, systematic experiments were carried out in this work. XRD data show that the $ZrO_2$ films were mainly grown in the [111] orientation at the annealing temperature between 800 and $1000^{\circ}C$ while the crystal growth direction was changed to be [012] at above $1000^{\circ}C$. FT-IR spectra show that the oxygen stretching peaks become strong due to $SiO_2$ layer formation between film layers and silicon surface after annealing, and proved that a diffusion caused by either oxygen atoms of $ZrO_2$ layers or air into the interface during annealing. Different crystal growth directions were observed with the various deposition parameters such as annealing temperature, RF power magnitude, and added $O_2$ amounts. The growth rate of $TiO_2$ thin films was increased with RF power magnitude up to 150 watt, and was then decreased due to a sputtering effect. The maximum growth rate observed at 150 watt was 1500 nm/hr. Highly oriented, crack-free, stoichiometric polycrystalline $TiO_2$<110> thin film with Rutile phase was obtained after annealing at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour.

This paper discusses about the beam pattern distortion caused by the failures of some antenna modules in the active array antenna and analyses the possibility of improvement through applying the beam pattern compensation method previously studied. The beam pattern distortion which is mostly represented as an increase of the sidelobe level, can be suppressed through re-synthesizing each module's magnitude and phase. This method was applied to the prototype of active array antenna system, and the results of antenna pattern distortion and compensation were analyzed and measured in the Near Field Chamber. Array failures are generally divided into random TR module failures and TRU(TR Unit: combination of TR modules, Beam Computation module, Power supply module) failures. The results of beam pattern compensation were analyzed in each failure and compared to the results of the simulation. The beam pattern compensation results applied to the real active antenna array system showed the similar to the simulation results. Consequently, it was verified the beam pattern could be compensated with the magnitude and phase adjustment of other normal antenna modules.
Because of the small number of spacecraft available in the Earth's magnetosphere at any given time, it is not possible to obtain direct measurements of the fundamental quantities, such as the magnetic field and plasma density, with a spatial coverage necessary for studying, global magnetospheric phenomena. In such cases, empirical as well as physics-based models are proven to be extremely valuable. This requires not only having high fidelity and high accuracy models, but also knowing the weakness and strength of such models. In this study, we assess the accuracy of the widely used Tsyganenko magnetic field models, T96, T01, and T04, by comparing the calculated magnetic field with the ones measured in-situ by the GOES satellites during geomagnetically disturbed times. We first set the baseline accuracy of the models from a data-model comparison during the intervals of geomagnetically quiet times. During quiet times, we find that all three models exhibit a systematic error of about 10% in the magnetic field magnitude, while the error in the field vector direction is on average less than 1%. We then assess the model accuracy by a data-model comparison during twelve geomagnetic storm events. We find that the errors in both the magnitude and the direction are well maintained at the quiet-time level throughout the storm phase, except during the main phase of the storms in which the largest error can reach 15% on average, and exceed well over 70% in the worst case. Interestingly, the largest error occurs not at the Dst minimum but 2-3 hours before the minimum. Finally, the T96 model has consistently underperformed compared to the other models, likely due to the lack of computation for the effects of ring current. However, the T96 and T01 models are accurate enough for most of the time except for highly disturbed periods.
When a PWM rectifier has a low DC-link voltage during startup, the output voltage vector cannot be high enough to regulate the input current. This lack of a PWM rectifier output voltage vector can cause an unregulated inrush current when the rectifier operation starts. This paper presents a PWM rectifier start-up current control algorithm for when it starts operation with a lower DC-link voltage than unloaded condition case. To avoid the unregulated inrush current caused by a lack of DC-link voltage, the proposed control scheme regulates the one phase current with one switch chopping and it generates the current command considering the uncontrolled current magnitude information, which is calculated in advance. Simulation and experiment results support the validity of the proposed method.
