Three-Dimensional Phase-Only Holographic Correlation

  • This paper presents a phase-only modulation scheme for a three-dimensional (3-D) image matching system to improve optical efficiency of the system. The 3-D image matching system is based on the two mask heterodyne scanning. A hologram of the 3-D reference object is first created and then the phase of the hologram is extracted. The phase of the hologram is represented as one mask with the other mask being a plane wave. The superposition of each beam modulated by the two masks generated a scanning beam pattern. This beam pattern scans the 3-D target object to be recognized. The output of the scanning system gives out the correlation of the phase-only hologram of the reference object and the complex hologram of the target object. Since a hologram contains 3-D information of an object as a form of fringe pattern, the correlation of holograms matches whole 3-D aspect of the objects. Computer simulations are performed with additive gaussian noise and without noise for the complex hologram modulation scheme and the phase-only hologram modulation scheme. The computer simulation results show that the phase-only hologram modulation scheme improves the optical efficiency. Thus the system with the phase-only hologram modulation scheme is more robust than the system with the complex hologram modulation scheme.

  • 물체의 진폭과 위상 정보가 free space에서 전달되는 과정을 디지털로 계산하여 기록한 것을 컴퓨터 생성 홀로그램(CGH)라고 한다. 이 CGH는 복소 홀로그램의 형태이지만, 이를 Phase-only 공간광 변조기(SLM)를 통해 디스플레이 하기 위해 위상 홀로그램의 형태로변환하게 된다. 본 논문에서는, 물체의 진폭 정보를 위상 정보에 포함시키는 과정에서 DPAC 등 subsampling이 포함된 기법을 사용한다면 위상 홀로그램의 대역폭이 커지며, 그 결과로 복소 홀로그램 복원 시에는 없던 aliasing이 발생할 수 있음을 실험적으로 밝혔다. 또한, 이렇게 aliasing에 의해 복원성능이 저하되는 거리에서도 공간 주파수 범위를 제약하는 방법을 통해 좋은 화질의 위상 홀로그램 생성이 가능함을 보였다.

  • In this paper, A simple image hologram encryption and decryption technique based on the principle of interference are proposed. The technique using the photorefractive material for getting a stable interference pattern is also proposed. And combine these two techniques, I would like to implement a stable optical information security system. In the encrypting process, I would generate binary phase hologram which can reconstruct original image perfectly, and regard this hologram as original image to be encrypted image. And then the hologram is encrypted as randomly generated binary phase image. Reference image is also generated from the encrypted image by applying interference rule. In the decrypting process, I can get a interference intensity by interfering the reference image and the encrypted image in the interferometer. and transform inferference intensity information into phase information. I recover original image by inverse Fourier transforming the phase information. In this process, the intensity information generated by interference of two images is very sensitive to external vibrations. So, I would like to get a stable interference using the characteristic of SPPCM(self pumped phase conjugate mirror) in photorefractive materials, especially BaTiO₃.

Diagnosis of Unstained Biological Blood Cells Using a Phase Hologram Displayed by a Phase-only Spatial Light Modulator and Reconstructed by a Fourier Lens

  • In this paper, a simple nondestructive technology is used to investigate unstained biological blood cells in three dimensions (3D). The technology employs a reflective phase-only spatial light modulator (SLM) for displaying the phase hologram of the object being tested, and a Fourier lens for its reconstruction. The phase hologram is generated via superposing a digital random phase on the 2D image of the object. The phase hologram is then displayed by the SLM with 256 grayscale levels, and reconstructed by a Fourier lens to present the object in 3D. Since noise is the main problem in this method, the windowed Fourier filtering (WFF) method is applied to suppress the noise of the reconstructed object. The quality of the reconstructed object is refined and the noise level suppressed by approximately 40%. The technique is applied to objects: the National Institute of Standards (NIS) logo, and a film of unstained peripheral blood. Experimental results show that the proposed technique can be used for rapid investigation of unstained biological blood cells in 3D for disease diagnosis. Moreover, it can be used for viewing unstained white blood cells, which is still challenging with an optical microscope, even at large magnification.

이진위상 컴퓨터형성홀로그램과 다중 XOR 연산을 이용한 영상 암호화의 개선 (An Improvement of Image Encryption using Binary Phase Computer Generated Hologram and Multi XOR Operations)

  • 본 논문에서는 이진위상 컴퓨터형성홀로그램(binary phase computer generated hologram;BPCGH)과 다중 XOR 연산을 이용하여 영상의 암호화를 개선시키는 방법을 제안하고자 한다. 먼저 암호화를 위해 원영상을 재생할 수 있는 BPCGH를 반복 알고리듬을 이용하여 설계하며, 이를 암호화할 영상으로 간주하여 랜덤하게 발생시킨 위상 키 영상과의 XOR 연산을 통해 암호화한다. 암호화된 영상을 다시 XOR 연산을 통해 여러 개의 슬라이드 영상으로 나눔으로써 암호화를 개선시킨다. 홀로그램의 복호화 과정은 암호화된 슬라이드 영상과 암호화시에 사용된 무작위 위상 키 영상을 직렬 정합시킨 후, 기준파와의 간섭에 의해 수행된다. 그리고 복호화 된 홀로그램 영상은 위상 변조한 후, 역푸리에 변환하여 최종적으로 구한다. 그리고 슬라이드 영상의 패턴을 적절히 바꾸어 주면 다양한 형태의 복호화된 BPCGH 영상을 생성할 수 있다. 제안된 암호화 방법은 암호화시에 사용된 무작위 키 영상 정보가 없으면 원영상이 전혀 복원되지 않고, 암호화된 슬라이드 영상을 달리함에 따라 복원되는 홀로그램의 패턴을 다양하게 얻을 수 있으므로 차별화 된 인증 시스템에 활용할 수 있다.

  • 본 논문에서는 이진 위상 홀로그램과 간섭계를 이용하여 디지털 데이터의 저작권을 보호할 수 있는 새로운 워터마킹 방법을 제안하였다. 먼저, SA알고리듬을 이용하여 숨겨질 마크영상의 이진 위상 홀로그램을 설계하였다. 이를 원 영상에 선형중첩 시킴으로써 워터마킹된 영상을 얻었다. 워터마킹된 영상에서 마크영상을 추출하기 위한 복호화 과정은 경로차가 같도록 구성된 마흐-젠더 간섭계를 이용하여 워터마킹된 영상의 위상변조 성분과 위상변조된 원 영상과의 간섭세기론 역푸리에 변환 함으로써 얻었다. 제안된 방법은 임의의 절단된 영상에 대해서 강인함을 컴퓨터 모의실험을 통해 확인하였으며, 위상 변조 특성이 있는 LCD를 사용하여 광학적으로 구현하였다.

  • We derive the point-spread function of the reconstructed image from a point-source complex hologram, which includes phase error caused by polarization components, in the longitudinal direction of the point-spread function and analyze the effect of the error sources of polarization components having influence on image reconstruction of a point-source complex hologram in incoherent triangular holography.

  • This study is introducing a new approach of ATInSAR hologram for modeling wave refraction spectra pattern. TOPSAR data with L$_{-HH}$ and C-vv bands utilized spatial variation of wave refraction. Based on the phase information in along track interferometry, and ATInSAR hologram the quantitative information such swell wave height and spectra energy have been modeled. The phase information in ATInSAR hologram images can be transferred to wave refraction The ATInSAR hologram can be used to investigate the wave refraction pattern along the coastal waters. The fringe information pattern was shown to be useful in modeling wave refaction spectra varaition. The hologram interferometry wave refraction model consists of two sub-models. The purpose of first sub-model is to determine the swell wave height by using ATInSAR. Second sub-model aims to generate the holographic interferometry from the information of two wave spectra which detected by ATInSAR technique. The azimuth cut-off variations along the fringe patterns will be estimated. As azimuth cut-off contains the wave height information which could be used the significant wave height variation in convergence and divergence zone.
