  • Marked Petri Net(MPN) is used to analyze communication complexity with respect to the maximum number of concurrently active rendezvous. But, because it cannot represent timed & probability characteristics explicitly, it is not used to analyze the new execution time of complexity with respect to the communication. Thus to effectively analyze that execution time complexity, we propose Ada Tasking Structure Nets (ATSN) introduced restrictive conditions : net reduction rules, execution time, and probability. Finally, we show the powers of analyze of communication complexity with ATSN.

  • Siphons and traps are special structures of Petri nets with closely related to liveness for the deadlock analysis of Discrete Event Dynamic Systems. It can analysis the liveness of Petri nets using the siphon and trap without to check reachability.[1] Deadlock analysis approach we proposed is based on the notion of potential deadlock which are siphons that eventually become empty. And in this paper, we proposed a initial marking method by siphon to avoid and to prevent deadlock. It is shown that our approach is more efficient than classical state enumeration approach.

  • In this paper, a method to detect and diagnose faults in Automated Manufacturing Systems(AMS) is proposed. In AMS, it is necessary to monitor the process-status. The detection and diagnosis of faults are often difficult in monitoring level with given passive data. We propose the model-based monitoring system for faults detection and diagnosis using Petri Nets to model AMS efficiently and easily. Simulation results show the validity of proposed method with example of Reverse Mill Process in Automated Mill Lines.

  • This paper presents an approach to multiple objective scheduling of flexible manufacturing systems(FMS). The approach is an extension of the scheduling method that formulates scheduling problems using Petrinets, and applies heuristic search to find optimal or near-optimal schedules with a single objective. New evaluation functions are developed to optimize simultaneously the makespan and the total operating cost. A scheduling example is used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

  • Achieving situation awareness is especially challenging for real-time data stream applications because they i) operate on continuous unbounded streams of data, and ii) have inherent realtime requirements. In this paper we showed how formal data stream modeling and analysis can be used to better understand stream behavior, evaluate query costs, and improve application performance. We used MEDAL, a formal specification language based on Petri nets, to model the data stream queries and the quality-of-service management mechanisms of RT-STREAM, a prototype system for data stream management. MEDAL's ability to combine query logic and data admission control in one model allows us to design a single comprehensive model of the system. This model can be used to perform a large set of analyses to help improve the application's performance and quality of service.

  • We consider, in this paper, a UML-based design support system for real-time systems. However, the UML does not include any notion for verification of timing constraints. We presents transformation algorithms, as a function of the support system, of UML descriptions into Petri nets and Interval Temporal Logic models, which are very powerful for the verification. This paper shows also transformation example for simple elevator system.

  • In this paper, we suggests a WIP (Work In Process) of FMC (Flexible Manufacturing Cell) analysis methods based on the TPN (Time Petri Nets) unfolding. Unfolding of PN is a partial order-based method for the verification of concurrent system without the state space explosion. The aim of this work is to formulate the general cyclic state scheduling problem to minimize the WIP to satisfy economical constraints. The method is based on unfolding of the original net into the equivalent acyclic description.

An analysis methodology based on a reachiabilitylike approach is prestented efficiency to find out the behaviour of these nets in terms of performance. And the proposed extended timed prtri net models are simulated to show practicability of the accuracy of the extended model in representing system specification.

  • Timing Constraint Petri Nets(TCPN) extend petri nets by adding timing constraints, it is provide a formal method for the modeling and analysis of real-time system. A real-time schedulability analysis decide that a set of concurrent processes will always meet its deadline. In this paper, we present TCPN model for real-time system include timing constraints and propose a schedulability analysis algorithm using them. Also, When the TCPN model is unscheduleable under the imposed timing constraints, we propose a recovery technique that will be scheduleable by the system specification modifying or timing constraints relaxing in the optimized time.

  • In this paper, the structure of the Aladdin system was modeled by Petri nets for performance evaluation of 40G bps class Aladdin system which was developed in ETRI as the high-speed DDoS defensive tool. The efficiency analysis of the system architecture according to the input traffic of the Aladdin system was performed based on the modeling.
