  • This paper is about a personal identification algorithm using an ECG that has been studied by a few researchers recently. Previously published algorithm can be classified as two methods. One is the method that analyzes of ECG features and the other is the morphological analysis of ECG. The main characteristic of proposed algorithm can be classified the method of analysis ECG features. Proposed algorithm adopts DSTW(Down Slope Trace Wave) for extracting ECG features, and applies SVM(Support Vector Machine) to training and testing as a classifier algorithm. We choose 18 ECG files from MIT-BIH Normal Sinus Rhythm Database for estimating of algorithm performance. The algorithm extracts 100 heartbeats from each ECG file, and use 40 heartbeats for training and 60 heartbeats for testing. The proposed algorithm shows clearly superior performance in all ECG data, amounting to 93.89% heartbeat recognition rate and 100% ECG recognition rate.

  • This study apprehends the effect of primary causes that form civic consciousness, which mature local residents should have. Moreover, it tries to contribute to the development of mature civic consciousness with regard to the situations and conditions of local community, by observing how the extent of local problem recognition, personal viewpoints, and participation in social activities affect formation of civic consciousness. The research was conducted to 600 local residents, ages 20 and above, with proportional stratified sampling method. The study showed that high recognition of environmental, social, economic and aging issues, fulfillment on social achievement, self-perception, culture orientation, and higher frequency on participating on social activities have positive effects on formation of sound civic consciousness.

  • Context-aware computing has been attracting the attention as an approach to alleviating the inconvenience in human-computer interactions. This paper proposes a context-aware system architecture to be implemented on an UoC (Ubiquitous system on Chip). A new proposed technology of CRS (Context Recognition Switch) and DOS (Dynamic and Optimal Standard) based on Context-awareness system architecture with pre-processor, HPSP(High Performance Signal Processor) in this paper. And proposed a new algorithm using in network topology processor shows for Ubiquitous Computing System. implementing in UoC (Ubiquitous System on Chip) base on the IEEE 802.15.4 WPAN (Wireless Personal Area Network) standard. Also, This context-aware based UoC architecture has been developed to apply to mobile intelligent robots which would support human in a context-aware manner.

  • Smart city, which employs information and communication technology (ICT) to resolve urban problems, is gaining more research attention in the innovation research. However, most previous studies regard citizens as merely passive accepters of the smart city services, focusing on individual private values. The present study aims to expand existing limited perspectives by applying public value management theory. Drawing from the literature review, we developed a dual perspective that a smart city service should encompass: private and public value. Then we set up a causal relationship between the value recognitions and intention to adopt smart city services. We further related antecedent variables to the dual value recognition in terms of citizens' characteristics: prior knowledge, personal innovativeness, and citizenship. Two case subjects among currently operating smart city services in South Korea were selected to empirically investigate our hypothesis. Results confirm the recognition of both public and private value is significantly related to the citizens' personal characteristics and resultant attitude towards acceptance and support for diffusion of the smart city services. This study is expected to provide useful implications for a new angle for the recipient of the smart city services, value orientation of the services, citizen's participation, and method selection for promotion.

  • In this paper, we describe the implementation of a microphone input level control algorithm and the speech improvement with this level controller in personal computer environment. The volume of speech obtained through a microphone affects the speech recognition rate directly. Therefore, proper input volume level control is desired fur better recognition. We considered some conditions for the successful volume controller implementation firstly, then checked its usefulness on our speech recognition system with common office environment speech database. Cepstral mean subtraction is also utilized far the channel-effect compensation of the database. Our implemented controller achieved approximately 50% reduction, i.e., improvement in speech recognition error rate.

  • The need to protect a main information and control a personal access using Biometrics in the intelligent building system is extended with growing the information and communication technologies in recent years. The fingerprint recognition technology is one of the biometrics methods available that has been widely used in various applications. But the present architecture of fingerprint recognition system has many of the problems because of centralized control network architecture. But we can solve the problems with distributed control network architecture. In this paper, the fingerprint recognition system uses the merit of the LonWorks. it is able to easily modularize the system and make up for the weak points in the typical fingerprint recognition system.

  • This paper presents a lip print recognition by the pattern kernels for a personal identification. A lip print recognition is developed less than the other physical attribute that is a fingerprint, a voice pattern, a retinal blood-vessel pattern, or a facial recognition. A new method by the pattern kernels is pro for a lip print recognition. The pattern kerne function consisted of some local lip print p masks. This function identifies the lip print known person or an unknown person. The results show that the proposed algorithm the pattern kernels can the efficiently realized.

  • The purposes of this study are to investigate the degrees of husband's and wife's recognition and the difference between those degrees about the husbands' authoritarian communication to develop the typology of recongnition of husband and wife and also to find group differences caused by the personal variables spousal variables family-environmental variables. The subjects of this research were 328 married couples living in Seoul. The major findings of this study can be summarized as follows: 1) The degrees of husband's and wife's recognition about the husbands' authoritarian communication were not high and there was no significant difference between husband's and wife's recognition. 2) The recognition of husband and wife about the husband's authoritarian communication is classified into 5 types; type of high agreement of both husband and wife(34 married couples) type of middle agreement of both husband and wife(167 married couples) type of low agreement of both husband and wife 26 married couples) type of disagreement with husband's high recognition(51 married couples) type of disagreement with husband's high recognition(51 married couples) are type of disagreement with wife's high recognition(50 married couples) 3) The variables which have significance on the types of recognition of husband and wife about the husband's authoritarian communication were husband's educational level husband's birth order husband's self-esteem husband's alienation husband's sex-role attitudes wife's self-esteem wife's alienation the rights of decision-making between couples household income subjective social class authoritarian behavior of father of husband.

  • In this paper, a Korean word recognition method which usese Neural Network and Hidden Markov Models(HMM) is proposed to improve a recognition rate with a small amount of learning data. The method reduces the fluctuation due to personal differences which is a problem to a HMM recognition system. In this method, effective recognizer is designed by the complement of each recognition result of the Hidden Markov Models(HMM) and Neural Network. In order to evaluate this model, word recognition experiment is carried out for 28 cities which is DDD area names uttered by two male and a female in twenties. As a result of testing HMM with 8 state, codeword is 64, the recognition rate 91[%], as a result of testing Neural network(NN) with 64 codeword the recognition rate is 89[%]. Finally, as a result of testing NN-HMM with 64 codeword which the best condition in former tests, the recognition rate is 95[%].
