VDCN계 공중합체의 비선형 유전 특성 (Nonlinear Dielectric Properties of VDCN Copolymers)

  • Linear and nonlinear complex permittivities were measured for copolymers of vinylidene cyanide(VDCN) with vinyl acetate(VAc), vinyl propionate(VPr), vinyl bezoate(VBz), styrene(St) and methyl methacrylate(MMA). Experimental results are well fitted by the function (equation omitted) except at low frequency where dc conduction dominates. The analysis of dielectric relaxation mechanism by combined knowledge about linear and nonlinear dielectric permittivities and dipoles give us informations about electrical and thermal motions in these copolymers. According to the analysis it could be found that the variation for temperature of the dielectric relaxation strength in these copolymers is related to the interaction between dipoles and the nonlinear dielectric effect factor R$_{s}$ is proportional to square of the dipolar correlation factor R$_{p}$././.

  • In this study forty-five X-bnd rectangular microstrip patch antennas fed by microstrip line using ${\lambda}$/4 transformer were fabricated on teflon substrates with low high permittivities and varous thickness (substrate thickness : 0.6 ~ 2.4 mm, permittivities : 2.15 ~ 10.0), and effects of permittivity and electrical thickness on antenna characteristics were studied with measured return loss (1/S$_{11}$) and resonant frequencies. When substrate electrical thickness was greater than 0.060 ${\lambda}_{0}$return loss was very good and genrally more than 20 dB, but resonance characteristics was somewhat unstable. The more than 0.088 ${\lambda}_{0}$ the thickness was, the more unstable it was. As a result, in the rest range except 12, 13 GHz we had very good mesured return loss iwth greater than 20 dB, and in the range 7 to 9 GHz resonant frequencies were within $\pm$2 % error, on ${\epsilon}_{r}$=5.0, height = 2.4 mm substrate.

전파흡수능 최적화 설계 (An Optimal Design of Microwave Absorbing Material)

  • A research for the optimal design of microwave absorbing material featuring for the broadband has been conducted to apply to warship. A multilayered structure was suggested using wave absorbing layers and resistance layer to perform high performance in broadband frequencies. For the optimization of the wave absorbing characteristics, the thickness and permittivities of the absorbing layers as well as the surface resistance of the resistant layer were determined using genetic algorithm. The data base of permittivities related to the density of the dielectric materials and loss materials was obtained by the experiments for the dielectric constants of the absorbing layers, furthermore, the results were numerically expressed and used for the optimization.

Sol-Gel 법으로 제작된 PZT 박막의 전기적 성질에 조성과 하부전극이 미치는 영향 (The effects of the composition and the lower electrode on the properties of PZT thin films prepared by Sol-Gel method)

  • We studied the effects of the Zr/Ti ration and the bottom electrode (Pt or ITO) on the electrical properties of PZT thin films prepared by sol-gel method. Their permittivities and tagent losses with the variation of frequencies were measured by the LCR meter and their maximum polarizations, remanent polarizations, and coercive fields were obtained from the hysteresis loops measured by the Sawyer-Tower circuit. For the PZT thin film of the Zr/Ti ration of 53/47, permittivity at 10kHz, coercive field, maximum and remanent polarizations ere measured as 952, 20.7kV/cm, 10.43${\mu}C/cm^{2}$ and 4.3${\mu}C/cm^{2}$, respectively. For the film of the Zr/Ti ration of 25/75, coercive field, maximum and remanent polarizations were measured as 33.12kV/cm, 5.59${\mu}C/cm^{2}$ and 1.5${\mu}C/cm^{2}$, respectively. For the film of the Zr/Ti ratio of 75/25, they were measured as 23.8kV/cm, 7.45${\mu}C/cm^{2}$, and 3.5${\mu}C/cm^{2}$, repectively. Our investigation into the effects of the lower electrode on the electrical properties of PZT films showed the following results. The permittivities of the PZT films deposited on the ITO electrode decreased more quickly than those of the PZT films on the Pt electrode. The tangent losses of the former films increased more quickly than those of the latter. These may be due to the degradation of the quality of the interface between the electrode and the film, which results from the diffusion of Pb. It is also noticeable that permittivities and tangent losses of the PZT films deposited on the ITO electrode varied differently with the Zr/Ti ratio. This may indicate that the quality of the interface between the electrode and the film changes with the Zr/Ti ration of the PZT film.

무정형 고분자 재료의 비선형 유전특성 (Nonlinear Dielectric Properties of Amorphous copolymers)

  • Linear and nonliear complex permittivities have been measured for amorphous copolymers of vinylidene cyanide (VDCN) with vinyl acetate (VAc), vinyl propionate (VPr), vinyl benzoate (VBz), styrene (St) and methyl methacrylate (MMA). It is found that the third order permittivity ${\varepsilon}_3$ depends upon frequency according to a function ${\Delta}_{{\varepsilon}_3}/(1+i{\omega}{\tau}_^3)$ while the linear permittivity obeys a Debye function ${\Delta}_{{\varepsilon}_1}/(1+i{\omega}{\tau}_1)$. Experimental results are well fitted by the above predicted functions except at low frequencies where dc conduction dominates. The ${\tau}_1$ and ${\tau}_3$ are nearly equal, and depend upon temperature according to a WLF form. The relaxation strength ${\Delta}_{{\varepsilon}_1}$ depends upon comonomers ranging from $130_{{\varepsilon}_0}$(VAc) to $20{{\varepsilon}_0}$(MMA). The ${\Delta}_{{\varepsilon}_3}$ is negative and depends more strongly upon comonomers. Combined knowledge about linear and nonlinear permittivities predicts very large correlation factors which indicates strongly cooperative dipolar motions in those amorphous copolymers.

  • Linear and nonlinear complex permittivities have been measured for an alternating copolymer of vinylidene cyanide(VSCN) with vinyl propionale(VPr). It is found that the third order permittivity ${\varepsilon}_3$ depends upon frequency according to a function V ${\varepsilon}_3$/ ${1+(j{\omega}{\tau}_3)^{\beta}}^3$ while the linear permittivity ${\varepsilon}_1$obeys a Debye type function ${\nabla}{\varepsilon}_1$/ {1+$(j{\omega}{\tau}_1)^{\beta}$}. Experimental results are well fitled by predicted functions except at low frequency where dc conduction dominates. The relaxation times ${\tau}_1$ and ${\tau}_3$ at same teperature are nealy equal and depend upon temperature according to WLF form. The relaxation strengths ${\nabla}{\varepsilon}_1$ and ${\nabla}{\varepsilon}_3$ have a peak at the vicinity of glass transition temperature (Tg). The strength ${\nabla}{\varepsilon}_1$ has a value of -9 order and ${\nabla}{\varepsilon}_3$ has a negative value of -25 order. The analysis of mechanism by combined knowledge about linear and nonlinear permittivities and dipole moment gives us an imformation of the electrical and thermal dipolar motions in this copolymer.

개방단말 동축선 프로브의 개선된 환산모델에 대한 FDTD 검증 (FDTD Verification of an Improved Conversion Model for an Open-Ended Coaxial Probe)

  • 개방단말 동축선 프로브를 사용하여 0.2∼2.0 ㎓에서 측정된 메탄올의 복소 유전율을 문헌에 주어진 값과 비교해 본 결과 많은 차이를 보였다. 본 논문에서는 실험에 사용된 메탄올 용액의 복소 유전율이 측정치와 주어진 값 중에 어디에 더 가까운지를 조사하였다. 무시할만큼 작은 측정오차에 대한 영향은 배제하고, 환산 모델 오차만의 영향을 확인하기 위해서 FDTD 기법을 도입하였다. FDTD 수치 계산된 반사계수를 우리의 환산모델에 의해 복소 유전율로 환산한 값이 주어진 값이 아닌 측정값에 더욱 근접함을 보임으로서 우리가 사용한 측정-환산 과정의 정확도와 안정도를 확인하였다.

  • 개방단말 동축선 프로브의 제작오차가 프로브에 접촉된 매질의 복소유전율 측정에 얼마나 강한 영향을 미치는 지를 살펴보기 위한 수치계산을 수행하였다. 몇 가지 종류의 유전체를 접촉시킨 개방단말 동축선 프로브의 반사계수는 FDTD 방법을 적용해 수치계산 하였다. 이러한 계산된 반사계수들을 새로운 가상의 전송선 모델에 적용시켜 복소유전율로 확산하였는데, 본 논문에서 사용한 방법은 기존의 방법보다 물리적으로 더 의미가 있는 방법이다. 개방단말 프로브에 약간의 제작오차가 있을 때에도 복소유전율에는 큰 오차가 발생함을 알 수 있었다.

  • Complex permittivities of human head simulating liquids were measured by a sample holder of terminated slotted coaxial line with a movable probe at mobile communication frequencies. The validity of the liquid measurement system was checked by experiments with the reference liquids. Liquids of ingredients for human brain suggested in IEEE draft and those made by the authors were measured by this slotted line system.
