Recently the biometric recognition technology is intensively studied and the standardization of the technology has been highly demanded for its commercialization. Currently many blometric recognition products are being developed based on the BioAPl(Biometric Application Program-ming Interface) specification. However, the reliable testing tools (or scenarios) to evaluate performance and conformance of the products are not shown yet. In this paper, a conformance testing method is presented, which verifies a biometric recognition system to meet the requirements of the BioAPl standard. Two different testing procedures are used in the proposed method. The first procedure evaluates that each functions offered in the BioAPl specification are correctly implemented and that the functions are actually used in the system. Through the Procedure, a BSP(Biometric Service Provider) system is executed on the framework of the BioAPl functions. It requires selection of parameters and prece-dent functions that should be executed first. The second procedure evaluates the abilities of module management, handling operations and ver-ification process by the analysis of the test cases. It tests the correctness of the system operation when a testing scenario is given. The proposed testing method is applied on a fingerprint verification BSP using the sample BSP provided by the BioAPl consortium. The experimental results shows the benefits of the proposed testing method.

This study deals with the precedents regarding music works among 'The suits to claim an infringement of copyright' and 'Suits to claim indemnification for damage' that have been filed in Korea up so far in order to establish clear criteria to judge plagiarism based on the ground of legal judgment and judge the similarity of two works that have been in controversy previously. The study has been performed through literature review and also precedents. According to the study result, 'criteria to judge music works on plagiarism' are largely classified into (1) creativity, (2) access, and (3) substantial similarity. It is almost the same to judge creativity and substantial similarity. With the components of music works, say, melody, harmony, and rhythm, comparative analysis is conducted. About creativity, the original composer's song is analyzed with another object to be compared whereas about substantial similarity, two songs in controversy get to be analyzed. Regarding the current criteria to judge creativity, it is needed to set the number of objects to be compared which have been regarded similar. And access has limitations in setting up objective criteria for it. Lastly, we should develop digitized criteria for substantial similarity based on the preliminary review system of the Committee on Performance Ethics in the past.
The objectives of this research were to develop fish-habitat relationship models which can be used to estimate fish species riclmess of small and medium rivers in Korea, and test the accuracy of the models. The models are based on the Aquatic GAP Analysis model in the New York Cooperative Fish & Wildlife Research Unit (19%), and they employ three habitat factors; river size, physical habitat, and water quality of each river segment. Model 1 and model II are based on the water quality standard for life support of EP A and the water quality class of Korea, respectively. Test sites for this study include one urban stream and three less spoiled tributaries of the Han River. The results of this research can be summarized as follows. First, the number of habitat types identified by model I and model II are nine and 14, respectively. Second, the average accuracy of the three distribution maps of rare or endangered fish species are 80.6% (model 1) and 81.2% (model II). Third, the accuracy of fish species richness are 94% (model 1) and 95% (model II), and the water quality is the most important factor affecting fish species richness. Fourth, the accuracy of fish species list are 50.5% (model 1) and 68.7% (model II), but the accuracy of less spoiled stream segments and that of polluted stream segments are 67.1% and 86.5%, respectively. Finally, it can be concluded that the overall performance of model II is better than that of model I at our test sites.

Digital X-ray imaging devices using a TFT based flat panel array has been used in medical field. But, recently, lots of research on the photon counting sensor has been reported. In this study, we evaluated the physical properties of the photoconductor by suggesting the standard and testing method for quantitative performance evaluation of photon counting x-ray imaging sensor. First, we measured the leakage current and the sensitivity of photon counting x-ray imaging sensor and we evaluated the characteristic of rising time for determining the signal shaping time. In addition, the set-up study was conducted on the basis of the IEC 62220-1-2 recommendations to define the number of incident photons per unit area. And the efficiency of the charge collection was also evaluated. As a result, the characteristic was measured as $200pA/mm^2$ of the leakage current, $7{\mu}C/cm^2R $ of the X-ray sensitivity, and $0.765{\mu}s$ of the rising time.

The simple bacteria cooperative optimization (sBCO) algorithm that we developed as one of optimization algorithms has shown relatively good performances, but their performances were limited by step-by-step movement of individuals at a time. In order to solve this problem, we proposed a new method that assigned a speed to each individual according to its rank and it was confirmed that it improved the performances of sBCO in some degree. In addition to the assigning of speed to the individuals, we employed a new mutation operation that most existing evolutionary algorithms used in order to enhance the performances of sBCO in this paper. A specific percent of bad individuals are mutated within an area that is proportion to the rank of the individual in the mutation operation. That is, Gaussian noise of large standard deviation is added as the fitness of individuals is low. From this, the probability that the individuals with lower ranks can be located far from its parent will be increased. This causes that the probability of falling into local optimum areas is decreased and the probability of fast escaping the local optimum areas is increased. From experimental results with four function optimization problems, we showed that the performances of sBCO with mutation operation and individual speed were increased. If the optimization function is quite complex, however, the performances are not always better. We should devise a new method for solving this problem as a further work.

Recently, interest for environmental pollution in various fields is on the increase, and the researches on the life cycle assessment of environmental performance assessment method for calculating the environmental loads are currently most performed. It is expected to have a significant influence on the environment, since SOC infrastructures are go through a variety of materials, manufacturing process, however it is judged that researches and measures for environmental pollution is insufficient. In this study, we build the data for 204 of steel bridge designed after 2000 year, and the 100 of bridge which were selected to from obtained results were calculated the environmental loads at the planning stage based on the life cycle assessment. In addition, standard classification systems in work type for steel bridges were established. Based on this, the basic design data and input materials for the bridges are applied to the LCI DB, and the environmental load for required material is evaluated and is shown as Eco-point. Environmental loads obtained from this study, it is judged that can be utilized as a basic data for the process of the life cycle assessment in future steel bridge design.

Background: A recent WHO data report on mortality attributable to tobacco use including cigarette smoking indicated a very high burden of deaths in Asia and that people often initiate smoking as early as young adolescents. The objectives of this study were to systematically review peer-reviewed articles on cigarette smoking initiation among Asian adolescents and to develop a conceptual model of factors influencing smoking initiation by integrating all relevant factors based on existing data. Materials and Methods: Following a PRISMA guideline, a systematic review of articles published between 2005 and June 2015 was conducted using 5 databases on cigarette smoking initiation among adolescents (aged 10-19 years) living in Asia. We summarized the main findings of each study according to our research questions and data that emerged during the data extraction process. Analysis and categorization were based on the TTI and TPB models and classification of factors extracted from the study, were as follows: personal factors, social factors, broader environmental factors, mediators, and intention to initiate smoking and smoking behavior. Results: Of 1,227 identified studies, only 20 were included in this review. Our findings found that the mean age of cigarette smoking initiation ranged from 10 to 14 years and those who are more likely to initiate smoking are male, older adolescents, adolescents with low parental SES, individuals with low parental monitoring, low parental education level and having no discussion on smoking at home, those living in public housing and those exhibiting health-risk behavior. Our study also revealed that the risk of smoking initiation increased when they are exposed to smokers, influenced by peers, exposed to tobacco advertisements, receive pocket money, have lack of knowledge about smoking, have poor school performance, have a family conflict and have psychological problems. The conceptual model developed demonstrated complex networks of factors influencing initiation. Conclusions: This systematic review presents various factors influencing smoking initiation of the Asian adolescents and provides a conceptual framework to further analyze factors. Future studies should have a standard measure of smoking initiation, should analyze interactions and the intensity of relationships between different factors or variables in the conceptual model. This will in turn consolidate the understanding of the different factors affecting smoking initiation and will help to improve interventions in this area.
Objectives : Dementia has emerged as a leading public health problem in elderly persons, and its early detection is important for the treatment of curable cases, and in the educational support for other family members. Although dementia screening tests are available, they have not gained widespread use in community or primary care settings. Our goal was to validate the Tine and Change (T&C) Test, -including its validity and reliability in patients, and to assess it as a simple, standardized method for the screening of dementia in the rural elderly. Methods : The participants in this study comprised of 59 patients from an urban hospital and 405 persons from a rural community aged 65 years or older. The time test evaluated the understanding of clock hands indicating 11:10, and the change test the ability to make 1,000 Won from a group of coins, consisting of one 500, seven 100, and seven 50 Won coins. The T&C ratings were validated against a reference standard based on the physician's diagnosis of the patients. The convergent validity in relation to other cognitive measure, test-retest agreement, and inter-observer reliability were assessed. To assess the relationship between the Korean Mini-Mental State Exam (K-MMSE) and the T&C Test, the mean K-MMSE scores were compared with the results of the T&C Test in the elderly from a rural community. Results The T&C Test had a sensitivity and specificity of 73.0, and 90.9%, and positive and negative predictive values of 93.1, and 66.7%, respectively. The test-retest and inter-observer agreement rates were both 95%. The K-MMSE scores and T&C Test were significantly related in the elderly from a rural community (p<0.01), The T&C Test was not influenced by the educational status. The Time and Change Tests took a mean of 6.3 and 12.7 seconds, respectively, to complete Conclusion : The T&C Test is a simple, accurate and reliable, performance-based tool in the screening for dementia. Because it is quick, and easy-to-use, it is hoped the T&C Test will be used for the widespread cognitive screening of aging populations.
In this study, the visual grading based on the visual characteristics and structural timber bending test were conducted for domestic yellow poplar dimension lumber. Structural performance of domestic yellow poplar dimension lumber was conducted through the evaluation of strength and stiffness. Visual grading rule of yellow poplar dimension lumber did not exist in Korea. Visual grading of yellow poplar dimension lumber was performed according to the NSLB (Northern Softwood Lumber Bureau) standard grading rules including several hardwood dimension lumber. The allowable bending stress was calculated from the results of a visual grading. Compared with NDS (National Design Specification), the yellow poplar dimension lumber showed enough strength for structural uses. In addition, the visual grading was performed according to the KFRI (Korea Forest Research Institute) grading rule to calculated allowable bending stress and to evaluated the feasibility. The yellow poplar was classified into the pine groups by the KFRI criteria regulated by specific gravity. Allowable bending stress based on weibull distribution had became highly than KFRI criteria, as No. 1 (10.0 MPa), No. 2 (7.4 MPa) and No. 3 (4.1 MPa). And the availability of yellow poplar dimension lumber for structural uses had been confirmed. The Modulus of Elasticity (MOE) of domestic yellow poplar dimension lumber had not met the NDS and KFRI criteria. However, for the use of domestic yellow poplar, average values of MOE which obtained through this test were suggested as design value for domestic yellow poplar. Design values were supposed No. 1, 2 (9,000 MPa) and No. 3 (8,000 MPa).

This study presents a method validation for extraction and quantitative analysis of levulinic acid in soy sacues using high performance liquid chromatograph-photodiode array detector (HPLC-PDA). The levulinic acid in samples were extracted with distilled water, and then purified with C18 Sep-Pak cartridge. The calibration curves showed good linearity (R > 0.999) in a relatively wide concentration range ($2.5-400{\mu}g/mL$). Mean recoveries and relative standard deviation (RSD) of levulinic acid spiked in soy sauce samples at different spiking levels ($2.5-400{\mu}g/mL$; 6 point). Recoveries were 87.58-97.26 % with RSD less than 15 %, and limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) were 0.64 and $1.64{\mu}g/mL$, respectively. According to monitoring result with the established method, levulinic acid was found in 43 of 59 domestic commercial soy sauces, soy sauce based sauces and seasoned meats. The contamination levels were 0.44-1.23 mg/mL for soy sauces, 0.03-0.83 mg/mL for soy sauce based sauces and 8.43-38.94 mg/mL for seasoned meats. The results indicated to be rapidly and accurately qualifying levulinic acid and can be used as a suitable quality control method for soy sauce and soy sauce related commodities.
