Design of Synchronization Algorithms for Burst QPSK Receiver (버스트 QPSK 수신기의 동기 알고리즘 설계)

  • In this Paper we describe the design of synchronization algorithms for burst QPSK receiver, which are applicable to BWLL uplink. The demodulator consists of digital down converter, matched filter and synchronization circuits. For symbol timing recovery we ufo Gardner algorithm. And we use forth power method and decision directed method for carrier frequency recovery and phase recovery, respectively. For the sake of performance analysis, we compare simulation results with the board implemented by FPGA which is APEX20KE series chip for Alter. The performance results show it works quite well up to the condition that a frequency offset equal to 4.7% of symbol rate.

Automatic Landing Guidance Law Design for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles based on Pursuit Guidance Law (추적유도기법 기반 무인항공기 자동착륙 유도법칙 설계)

  • This paper presents a landing controller and guidance law for net-recovery of fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles. A linear quadratic controller was designed using the system identification result of the unmanned aerial vehicle. A pursuit guidance law is applied to guide the vehicle to a recovery net with imaginary landing points on the desired approach path. The landing performance of a pure pursuit guidance, a constant pseudo pursuit guidance, and a variable pseudo pursuit guidance is compared. Numerical simulation using an unmanned aerial vehicle model was performed to verify the performance of the proposed landing guidance law.

  • Geographic wireless sensor networks use position information for Greedy routing. Greedy routing works well in dense network where as in sparse network it may fail and require the use of recovery algorithms. Recovery algorithms help the packet to get out of the communication void. However, these algorithms are generally costlier for resource constrained position based wireless sensor type networks. In the present work, we propose a Void Avoidance Algorithm (VAA); a novel idea based on virtual distance upgrading that allows wireless sensor nodes to remove all stuck nodes by transforming the routing graph and forward packet using greedy routing only without recovery algorithm. In VAA, the stuck node upgrades distance unless it finds next hop node which is closer to the destination than itself. VAA guarantees the packet delivery if there is a topologically valid path exists. NS-2 is used to evaluate the performance and correctness of VAA and compared the performance with GPSR. Simulation results show that our proposed algorithm achieves higher delivery ratio, lower energy consumption and efficient path.

  • A new high performance energy-recovery circuit (ERC) for a plasma display panel (PDP) is proposed. Two different ERCs are employed on both sides of the PDP, and slow falling and fast rising times are applied. It features a zero voltage switching (ZVS), low electromagnetic interference (EMI), low current stress, high efficiency, no severe voltage notch, reduced sustaining voltage, and high energy-recovery capability.

  • One of the roles of AGC is to regulate the frequency of power systems. AGC is also used to control the frequency of Korean Power System. AGC control strategies depend on system characteristics and the requirements of the systems to which those are applied. Korean Power System consists of one control area and does not have tie-lines. In this research, an AGC control strategy is suggested to avoid conflict with governor dynamics and to enhance frequency recovery It shows good performance for regulation and frequency recovery. This control strategy is expected to be applied to New EMS in KPX to get reasonable AGC regulation and frequency recovery performance.

  • Air shift type heat pump is combined heat recovery ventilator and refrigerator, and it is installed an air shifter changing air flow. And so it is an perfect AHU(Air Handling Unit) capable to cooling, heating, ventilation and heat recovery. Therefore, an experimental study has been carried out to investigate the operating performance in winter for this system. An experimental data are room temperature, inlet/outlet temperature of condenser, evaporator and heat exchanger. They have been measured as the variation of outdoor temperature. The results, in case of rising above freezing, the air shift type heat pump system is operated normally, and the heating COP is 3.0~4.2 by varying outdoor temperature from $-3^{\circ}C$ to $15^{\circ}C$.

  • A sizing of sensible and latent energy recovery system with condensing heat exchanger is important to the design of a thermally controlled facilities. The transient system simulation program TRNSYS 14.2/IISiBat has been used to evaluate the energy consumptions of a thermally controlled facilities which consist of boiler, chiller and condensing heat exchanger, The boiler and chiller are selected based on the annual peak loads and controlled to maintain the setting temperature of $14~17^{\circ}C$. Simulation shows that the amount of sensible and latent energy recovered by heat exchanger is almost 20% of total heating load.

  • In this paper, a newsynchronization technique applied to burst-mode communication is proposed. A synchronization technique is to estimate carrier frequency and phase offsets in a noisy channel environment. A fundamental problem for estimating the parameters(carrier phase and frequency offsets) in burst-mode transmission is that the ways of pursuing estimation accuracy and transmission efficiency are always trade-off. To solve this problem, a new carrier recovery technique is proposed to improve the transmission efficiency with reliable performance especially at low S/N. In the proposed technique, the synchronization parameters are first estimated based on a data-aided feed-forward estimation scheme. Then, a phase tracker using decision-directed DPLL estimates the phase offset for the data portion of the burst data. From simulation results, it shows fast synchronization with shorter preamble maintaining reasonable BER performance at low S/N.

  • In the playback signal processing of a digital magnetic recording system, the major signal processing processes consist of pulse equalization. pulse detection, clock recovery, and data recovery. Equalizer which compensates interference occurrde between pulses recorded in high density on a magnetic media is realized by pulse slimming method, and pulse detection by a integrating detector. Clock recovery from the detector output was accomplished by using PLL. and data recovery to reduce noise effects was carried out by utilizing the three sampling clocks recovered in clock recovery process. In this paper these processes are implemented in hardware and its performance is evaluated by experimenting with a commercial DAT. It was found that the playback signal processor proposed is suitable to the practical high density magnetic recording system.
