  • Branch prediction accuracy is critical for system performance in modern microprocessor architectures. The use of speculative update branch history provides substantial accuracy improvement in branch prediction. However, speculative update branch history is the information about uncommitted branch instruction and thus it may hurts program correctness, in case of miss-speculative execution. Therefore, speculative update branch history requires suitable recovery mechanisms to provide program correctness as well as performance improvement. In this paper, we propose recovery logics for speculative update branch history. The proposed solutions are recovery logics for both global history and local history. In simulation results, our solution provides performance improvement up to 5.64%. In addition, it guarantees the program correctness and almost 90% of additional hardware overhead is reduced, compared to previous works.

  • A very simple and efficient scheme for jitter reduction is proposed for a carrier frequency recovery loop using phase differential frequency estimation, which estimates the current frequency offset based on the difference of the average phases of two successive intervals. Analytical and numerical results presented in this paper show that by simply overlapping the observation intervals by half for frequency offset estimations, both the steady-state and transient performances can be improved. The proposed scheme does not require any additional hardware circuitry, but results in improved performance even with reduced complexity.

  • The performance of polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) could be deteriorated when fuel contains contaminants such as carbon monoxide (CO) or hydrogen sulfide ($H_2S$). Generally, $H_2S$ is introduced in hydrogen by steam reforming of hydrocarbon which has mercaptan as odorant. $H_2S$ poisoning effect on PEMFC performance was examined on this study. Pure hydrogen injection, voltage cycling and water circulation methods were compared as performance recovery methods. The PEMFC performance was analyzed using electrochemical methods such as polarization curve, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and cyclic voltammetry (CV). Pure hydrogen injection and voltage cycling methods showed low recovery ratio, however, water circulation method showed high recovery ratio over 95%. Because anode was directly poisoned by $H_2S$, anode water circulation showed higher recovery ratio compared to the other methods. Water circulation method was developed to recover PEMFC performance from $H_2S$ poisoning. This method could contribute to PEMFC durability and commercialization.

  • On-demand routing protocol in ad hoc network is that establishes a route to a destination node only when it is required by a source node. But, it is necessary to reestablish a new route when an active route breaks down. The reconstruction process establishes another route by flooding messages from the source to the destination, cause not only heavy traffic but also long delays in route discovery. A good method for analyzing performance of protocols is important for deriving better systems. In this paper, we suggest the numerical formulas of a representative on-demand routing protocol AODV, ARMP, and RRAODV to estimate the performance of these routing protocols for analyzing the performance of these protocols. The proposed analytical models are very simple and straightforward. The results of analysis show good agreement with the results of computer simulations.

  • PURPOSES: SUPERPAVE binder grade tests including Multiple Stress Creep and Recovery(MSCR) test are applied to evaluate rheological properties of four polymer modified binders. METHODS: To evaluate grade of four modified binders, PG testing protocols, such as DSR, BBR and MSCR are employed. RESULTS: It is observed that MSCR test shows different performance grades especially on modified binders. Both DMP and EG binder show similar high temperature performance to SBS 5% modified binder. CONCLUSIONS: Binder Grading system in Korea need to be reviewed to properly reflect the performnace of modified binders. The binders modified with DMP and EG can be possible alternatives SBS 5% modified binder considering its performance and cost.

  • This paper applies a compressed algorithm to improve the spectrum sensing performance of cognitive radio technology. At the fusion center, the recovery error in the analog to information converter (AIC) when reconstructing the transmit signal from the received time-discrete signal causes degradation of the detection performance. Therefore, we propose a subspace pursuit (SP) algorithm to reduce the recovery error and thereby enhance the detection performance. In this study, we employ a wide-band, low SNR, distributed compressed sensing regime to analyze and evaluate the proposed approach. Simulations are provided to demonstrate the performance of the proposed algorithm.

  • In order to investigate the performance of carbon dioxide PSA over zeolite adsorbent, the present study showed results of isotherm measurement, cyclic operation of 3-bed apparatus, and the corresponding numerical simulation. The experiment data of bed temperature, purity, recovery were matched well with that of numerical simulation. Purity of both gas and adsorbent phase increased rapidly with rinse rate but the degree of increase was retarded for large rinse rate The total amount of adsorbed increased only 10% even if rinse rate was enlarged to 4 times. Optimal rinse rate was 7N㎥/hr in this study. The heating rinse led to augments in recovery and productivity, possibly thanks to ease of description resulting from increased volumetric rinse rate and temperature rise in the column.

  • A computer program, capable of performing thermal design analysis of the triple pressure bottoming system of combined cycle power plants, was developed. The program is based on thermal analysis of the heat recovery steam generator and estimation of its size and steam turbine power. The program is applicable to various parametric analyses including optimized design calculation. This paper presents examples of analysis results for the effects of arrangement of heat exchanger units, steam pressures and deaerating sources on design performance indices such as steam turbine power and the size of heat recovery steam generator.

  • This paper presents some useful design criteria for the turbine cogeneration system through both the design and off-design analysis. Comparative analysis of the part load performance is carried out for several gas turbines which have different design parameters represented by the turbine inlet temperature and pressure ratio. It is shown that the variation in part load efficiency considerably depends on the design parameter. The off-design operation of the heat recovery steam generator is simulated by introducing adequate assumptions for the heat transfer process. It is turned out that the design parameters of heat recovery steam generator should be determined by considering the favorable operation at the off-design conditions.

  • Loose Par Monitoring System(LPMS) is one of the fundamental diagnostic tools installed in the nuclear power plants. In this paper, recovery process algorithm and model for the corrupted impact signal generated by loose parts is presented. The characteristics of this algorithm can obtain a proper burst signal even though background noise is considerably high level comparing with actual impact signal. To verify performance of the proposed algorithm, we evaluate mathematically signal-to-noise ratio of primary output and noise. The performance of this recovery process algorithm is shown through computer simulation.
