  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to verify influencing factors affecting service quality provided by caregivers working for the elderly with dementia. Methods: Data were collected using a self-reported questionnaire from 214 caregivers in a long-term care facility in D city. The data were analyzed with service quality, dementia knowledge, work value, and job performance confidence. For data analysis, the descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression were performed using SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results: There were significant differences in service quality depending on the health status. Factors influencing service quality were work value, and job performance confidence with R2 value of 38%. The highly influencing factors were work value, and job performance confidence. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that the effort to improve the service quality of caregivers should focus on work value and job performance confidence.

  • Purpose: The study is aimed to identify the national cultural dimensions that are affecting the quality management (QM) maturity level and the project quality performance, and analyze their relationships. Methods: This study collected the data of QM Maturity level based on Crosby's QM maturity model and the project quality performance using the Iron Triangle (Quality, Time/Schedule and Cost) from the employees who are participating in the ITER Project across the major 8 countries (China, France, Italy, Japan, Korea, Russia, U.K. and U.S.A.). Three research hypotheses are proposed concerning the national cultural dimensions in this study and Hofstede's five cultural dimensions framework are used for the statistical test. Results: The results are two folds in the study: First, there is a significant positive correlation between the QM maturity level and the project quality performance. Second, three cultural dimensions (Collectivism, Large Power Distance and Strong Uncertainty Avoidance) and five cultural dimensions (Collectivism, Large Power Distance, Strong Uncertainty Avoidance, Feminity and Long Term Orientation) have a positive impact on the QM maturity level and the project quality performance respectively. Conclusion: From the results, the understanding and consideration of the culture difference among the countries participating International Collaboration R&D project are recommended.

  • As having analyzed an advance research that had looked into how characteristics of information system affect use and success of the concerned system, the study determined that system quality, information quality and service quality are the fundamental requirements for a good accounting information system. In addition, based on perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use that have been selected as major variables related to information system acceptance proposed by Davis[10], the study conducted an empirical analysis on how such factors would influence performance of the accounting information system. According to the results from the analysis, the system quality one of the characteristics of the accounting information system was observed to have a significant influence on the perceived ease of use while both the information quality and the service quality would positively affect the perceived usefulness. Not only that, the perceived ease of use and the perceived usefulness were confirmed to be a significant factor to the performance, and with those results, all the theses of the study have been selected. As proved even with the information system success model, the system quality, the information quality and the service quality are definitely the most necessary elements for business management, and it also turned out that those elements would play an important role in several stages of the information system.

  • Information technology and the Internet have had a dramatic effect on education method and individual life. Universities and companies we making large investments in e-Learning applications but are hard to pressed to evaluate the success of their e-Learning systems. e-Learning can be seen as not only one of Internet based information systems which can provide education services but also one of teaching-teaming methods which can implement self-directed teaming. This paper tests the updated model of information system success proposed by Delone and McLean using a field study of a e-Learning. The five dimensions - information quality, system quality, service quality, user satisfaction, net benefit - of the updated model are parsimonious framework for organizing the e-learning success metrics identified in the literature. Questionaires are collected from 107 students who are enrolling a e-learning class using online survey. The model is tested using SPSS and LISREL. The results show that information quality and service quality are significant predictors of user satisfaction with the e-Learning system but system quality is not. Also user satisfaction is found to be a strong predictor of the learning performance. This strong association between user satisfaction and teaming performance suggests that user satisfaction may serve as a valid surrogate for teaming performance. Empirical testing of the updated DeLone & McLean model should therefore be extended to cover a wider variety of systems.

호텔, 급식 및 외식업소 조리부서에서의 6시그마 기법이 조리품질성과, 업무몰입 및 고객충성도에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of 6 Sigma Program on Culinary Quality Performance, Work Commitment, and Customer Loyalty in the Culinary Division)

  • A recurrent theme within the literature on the 6 Sigma program is the study of its effect on organizational performance. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of 6 Sigma on culinary quality performance, work commitment, and customer loyalty in the culinary division of hotels and family restaurants. The samples of this study included the employees of the culinary division of hotels and family restaurants that implemented or were about to implement the 6 Sigma program. A total of 248 questionnaires were analyzed with statistical methods of factor analysis, reliability test, and regression analysis. The findings of this study showed that the 6 Sigma program affected the culinary quality performance and work commitment of culinary division employees. Also, the 6 Sigma program, culinary quality performance and work commitment affected customer loyalty. Furthermore, work commitment affected culinary quality performance. Based on these research findings, it is required that the culinary division of hotels and family restaurants should incorporate the 6 Sigma program. For this purpose, good quality data should be collected with sufficient preparation procedures, and task force team should be made. Moreover, experts in this field should be cultivated, with the training of employees in mind. It is also crucial that the current quality of product and services be measured and that all the employees of the culinary division participate in the implementation of the 6 Sigma program. The intervention and heavy participation of the top management and head of the culinary division is expected for the successful implementation of 6 Sigma program.

Evaluation of the Effects of a Combination of Silicate Minerals in Duck Diets on Growth Performance and Litter Quality

  • An experiment was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of a mixture of bentonite and illite as feed additives on the growth performance and litter quality of 90 Pekin ducks. The ducks were individually weighed and randomly divided into two treatments (control and 1% combination of silicate minerals), with three replicate pens per treatment, and 15 ducks per pen. Growth performance was not significantly affected (p>0.05) by the combination of bentonite and illite, but a trend of increased growth performance was observed in the control groups. Total nitrogen content and pH in the litter decreased following supplementation with the combination of bentonite and illite (p<0.05) when compared with the control group. This data indicates that the dietary supplementation with the combination of bentonite and illite (1% level) has no positive effect on the growth performance and litter quality of Pekin ducks.

IPA분석을 통한 미취학 아동 급식의 급식서비스 품질특성 및 급식운영 평가 - 한국·중국·일본의 미취학 아동을 자녀로 둔 부모를 대상으로 - (An Evaluation of the Foodservice Quality and Management of Preschool Foodservice Establishments by IPA - Focusing on Parents of Preschoolers in Metropolitan Area of Korea, China and Japan -)

  • This study was targeted on the Korean, Chinese, and Japanese parents of preschoolers to investigate the importance and satisfaction of foodservice quality and the importance and performance of foodservice management of the preschool foodservice establishments. The present study conducted a survey on 390 randomly chosen parents of preschoolers (130 Korean, 130 Chinese, and 130 Japanese). Respondents' importance-satisfaction of foodservice quality characteristics and their importance-performance of foodservice management were measured. In order to test for differences between the groups, paired t-test, one way ANOVA, and IPA (Importance-Performance Analysis) were performed. The results were as follows. The importance of foodservice quality was significantly higher than the satisfaction on all items, according to the parents of Korea, China, and Japan. The importance of foodservice quality was higher in Korean parents than in Chinese and Japanese parents. According to ISA results with foodservice quality characteristics, the characteristics with relatively low satisfaction but high importance (II quadrant) was 'Diversity of menu' in both Korean and Chinese parents, and 'Sanitation of tables and chairs' in both Korean and Japanese parents. The importance of foodservice management was significantly higher than performance on all items in Korean, Chinese and Japanese parents. The performance of foodservice management was higher in Chinese than in Japanese and Korean parents. According to IPA results with foodservice management, the management with relatively low performance but high importance (II quadrant) was 'Preparation' in Korean parents, and 'Facility and equipment' in Japanese parents. Therefore, the items with relatively low satisfaction (performance) and high importance should be well-managed.

The effect of communication quality on team performance in digital main control room operations

  • A team of operators is required for nuclear power plant operation, and communication between the operators is an important aspect of the team's ability to successfully carry out tasks. It has been difficult to evaluate the quality of this communication though, and as the relationship between communication quality and team performance has yet to be clarified, it has not been applied to most human reliability analysis (HRA) methodologies. This study investigates the relationship between the quality of communication and team performance using data from a full-scope training simulator of a digital main control room (MCR). Two important characteristics of communication were considered to determine quality: each operator's ability to self-confirm the status of a given task in a digital MCR, and the type of communication, as divided into 1-way, 2-way, and 3-way between operators. To measure team performance, the concept of an unsafe act was employed, which is defined as a human error that has the potential to negatively affect plant safety. Analysis results showed that the communication quality and team performance were related to each other. With this more clearly defined relationship, the results of this study can be applied to related performance shaping factors to improve HRA.

Fast and Efficient Search Algorithm of Block Motion Estimation

  • Among the previous searching methods, there are the typical methods such as full search and three-step search, etc. Block motion estimation using exhaustive search is too computationally intensive. To apply in practice, recently proposed fast algorithms have been focused on reducing the computational complexity by limiting the number of searching points. According to the reduction of searching points, the quality performance is aggravated in those algorithms. In this paper, We present a fast and efficient search algorithm for block motion estimation that produces better quality performance and less computational time compared with a three-step search (TSS). Previously the proposed Two Step Search Algorithm (TWSS) by Fang-Hsuan Cheng and San-Nan sun is based on the ideas of dithering pattern for pixel decimation using a part of a block pixels for BMA (Block Matching Algorithm) and multi-candidate to compensate quality performance with several locations. This method has good quality performance at slow moving images, but has bad quality performance at fast moving images. To resolve this problem, the proposed algorithm in this paper considers spatial and temporal correlation using neighbor and previous blocks to improve quality performance. This performance uses neighbor motion vectors and previous motion vectors in addition, thus it needs more searching points. To compensate this weakness, the proposed algorithm uses statistical character of dithering matrix. The proposed algorithm is superior to TWSS in quality performance and has similar computational complexity

  • 본 연구는 건설업자 들이 건설산업 환경변화에 대응해 지속적인 성장과 보완해야 할 경쟁력 요소는 무엇인가에 대한 해답을 제시함으로써, 생존 및 성장 전략수립을 위한 지침을 제공하는데 목적을 두고, TQM의 구성요인을 리더십과 교육 훈련 그리고 참여로, 기업성과는 품질로 인식하여 이들 변인들 간의 인과관계를 규명하고자 하였다. 그 결과 첫째, TQM성공요인 중 종업원의 참여는 품질이라는 기업성과에 직접적인 경로를 통해 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다 둘째, TQM성공요인과 기업성과(품질)간 인과관계가 정(+)의 인과관계를 가지고 있다. 이를 종합해 볼 때, 기업성과를 극대화시키기 위해서는 기업성과에 영향을 미치는 TQM을 성공적으로 정착시켜야 할 것이다.
