A sample of Italian manufacturing companies was selected in order to verify the abilities and effects (relationships) of the management factors human resources, leadership and strategic planning on company performance. The Partial Least Squares (PLS) estimation method was used for analyzing the data collected, where the relationships between the management factors and performance were formalized by a Structural Equation Model (SEM). The analysis of the survey data showed unexpected result regarding the non significant direct relationship between Leadership and Performance. The effect of Leadership is obtained by an indirect relationship through Human Resources. The combination of Leadership and Human Resources has hence been identified as the management factors which have the highest impact on the performance of Italian industrial companies. Another interesting and unexpected result was that there was no significant impact of Strategic Planning on Performance. It seems that the leaders of Italian industrial companies have not understood that good strategic planning is a necessary condition for achieving excellence. So another improvement area is in fact Strategic Planning. This area should have the highest priority of any top management team and the focus should include how to establish a strong relationship between strategic planning and performance. No correlation between strategic planning and performance is a strong indication that something is wrong. It is not enough that Leadership is doing Strategic Planning-Leadership is also about studying and follow up on results in order to assure impacts on performance. This link seems to be missing in Italian industrial companies.
This paper aims to explore the strategic roles of information and strategic planning capabilities for firms' performance, and to examine the direct and indirect relationships between information capability, strategic planning capability, logistics performance and competitive advantage. The present research adopts resource based theory (RBT) to explore the relationships between a firm's specific capability and its performance and employs structural equation modelling (SEM) in order to test the validation of the measurement models and examine the relationships between construct variables. The current empirical test was conducted using the data collected from logistics managers of 101 Korean electronics companies. The empirical research presents positive influential relationships between (1) information/planning formality capability and strategic planning capability; (2) strategic planning capability and logistics performance; (3) logistics performance and competitive advantage; and (4) competitive advantage and competitive position in the market.
Purpose - The purpose of the study is to examine the relationships among the following retail operations variables: retail store operations (i.e., store management, sales personnel, promotion of merchandise), success of assortment planning, firm performance (i.e., market share, overall competitive position, profitability, product quality, consumer satisfaction), and retail buyer's demographics and firm's characteristics. Research design, data, and methodology - After conducting a pilot test, the survey was conducted in Seoul, South Korea. With using the listwise deletion method, 378 usable data sets were analyzed. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) methods were employed. Results - As evidenced from the path diagram, the relationship between retail store operations and the success of assortment planning is strong and significant. Retail store operations affect firm performance, though at a weaker significance than it affects the success of assortment planning. The relationship between the success of assortment planning and firm performance, is the strongest relationship observed by this research. Conclusions - The findings of this empirical study contribute to the retail/fashion buying/management field by confirming (a) the importance of assortment planning for retail firm performance and (b) the role of store operations for successful assortment planning and firm performance for fashion retailers.

In order to collect basic data for the plan, design, and improvement of teenager leisure space as well as to contribute to the preparation of various youth leisure spaces, this study is to examine and analyze leisure space planning factors under the consideration of leisure patterns changing rapidly in youth activities. We used sufficient amount of questionnaires and a physical environment analysis at downtown parks and Tongdaemun fashion complexes where various leisure activities of teenager are happened. In addition, an importance and performance analysis was attempted on planning factors of each derived leisure space. on sequently, effective and efficient preparation of youth leisure space for desirable youth leisure activities should be carried out after finding out characteristics of teenager leisure spaces, deriving and integrating suitable planning factors for each characteristics, and finally adapting such derived planning factors by performance and importance. The future space for youth leisure should be improved and prepared after mature consideration about importance and performance of planning factors, which are suited for leisure patterns and characteristics of teenager leisure spaces.

The study aims to investigate the mediating effect of strategic planning on the relationship between managerial skills and the performance of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Punjab, Pakistan. Stratified proportionate probability sample method was used to select the 265 SMEs. The study applied a structural equation model (SEM) to analyze the proposed research hypotheses by using PLS-SEM. This research examines the direct and indirect effects of strategic planning on the performance of SMEs using the SEM test. The results indicate the positive effect of managerial skills on SMEs' performance and also suggested that strategic planning mediates the relationship between managerial skills and SMEs' performance. In addition, the role of managerial skills on the usage of the company's resources is highly influential through strategic planning. Strategic planning has been found to impact significantly and positively on the relationship between managerial skills and performance of SMEs in Punjab, Pakistan. The findings suggested that, in devising appropriate strategies for SMEs, the effect of managerial skills on the utilization of the firm's resources can be more effective to the firm's performance. In short, the utilization of a firm's resources through a proper planning is more essential for the sustainability of SMEs.

This study aims to explore the relationships between strategic planning, strategic maneuverability, and firm performance in the current dynamic business environment. It employs a quantitative research method and reports on a survey, using a questionnaire, of service companies in Indonesia's oil and gas industry. Of the 337 companies selected by simple random sampling from a vendor database, responses were received from 70 companies. The analysis was performed using Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling and SmartPLS software. The analysis consisted of descriptive statistics, evaluation of the measurement model, evaluation of the structural model, and hypotheses testing. The results show that both strategic planning and strategic maneuverability have a positive relationship with firm performance. In addition, there is a positive relationship between strategic planning and firm performance through the mediating role of strategic maneuverability. The findings suggest that the organizational agility, organizational flexibility, and organizational responsiveness that constitute strategic maneuverability have a positive direct and indirect effect on firm performance, namely financial performance, customer performance, internal process performance, and learning and growth. This study contributes to the strategic management literature and the theory of maneuvers by providing empirical evidence on the relationship between strategic planning, strategic maneuverability, and firm performance.
Community Health Planning has been used in public health centers for over 10 years, but little is known about its effect and how it is utilized by public health centers. This paper examines the effect of Community Health Planning on public health centers'organizational performance through the use of the Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) technique. We conducted e-mail surveys of chiefs, people in charge of planning and other staff members in all the public health centers in the country. The instrument measured self-evaluated levels of Community Health Planning, implementation and the effect on the public health centers. The model of the SEM technique has five latent constructs: requirements of planning, plan formulation, implementation, organizational capacity and performance. The SEM technique validated the instrument used in the study and exhibited a relatively good fit. Results of this study were as follows. First, the requirements of planning have positive effects on plan formulation. Second, plan formulation has positive effects on organizational capacity but plan implementation doesn't. Third, there was no statistically significant path between plan formulation, implementation and performance. Fourth, organizational capacity has positive effects on performance. Consequently, this study revealed that Community Health Planning has a positive influence on organizational performance through organizational capacity.
Recently, IT outsourcing has been one of the major concerns of many companies. This study proposes a model which composed the outsourcing planning and operational risks affecting the outsourcing performance. Especially, this study focused on the contractors perspective, because the outsourcing risk relative researches are recently performed on the service receivers perspective, contractors perspective researches were relatively lacked. The result of this study, outsourcing planning risks had not affected the outsourcing performance but it had positively affected the operational risks. And also, the outsourcing operational risks had negatively affected the outsourcing performance. For this reason, It is necessary to reduced planning risk induction for the outsourcing performance improvement. Because the planning risks positively affect the operational risks, it is necessary to reduced planning risk induction for the outsourcing performance improvement.
This study was conducted to compare the characteristics of high performane areas for family planning with that of low performance areas and to find factors which strongly affected contraceptive practice behavior. For the study, eight areas were selected from 274 rural family planning canvassing areas of Korean Population Policy and Program Evaluation Study, which was an action study operated in all areas of Cheju Island from July 1, 1976 until December 31,1979. As a first step of the action study, Cheju Island was devided up 318 family planning canvasser areas Each area was consisted of 200 households in rural district and 300 households in urhan one Duriog the period of project, each canvassing area had been managed by a female family planning canvasser, selected by director of health center considering several individual conditions needed for family planning activities Basic activities of canvassers were to counsell all the eligihie couples in own charged area about family planning methods and also to distribute contraceptives such as condoms and oral pills. In case couples desire to accept sterilization including vasectomy and tubal-ligation, the canvassers played a linking role connecting potential client with family planning field workers. Canvassng areas shows significant differentce in performance for family planning, nevertheless they are supposed to have almost the same conditions regarding family planning distribution channel. Because the purpose of the Cheju project was to eliminate all the problems that existed in governmental distribution system, that is to remove geographic, economic, cognitive and administrative barriers Accumulated performances of family planning methods accepted by residents in each area were calculated by eligible women aged 14-49. And then canvassing areas were ranked according to performance score. Consequently, 4 areas in extremely high and low family planning performance areas were selected respectively. Major results were obtained by comparing characteristics of high performance area with that of low performance areas, which are as follows: 1. The mean number of living children was about the same both in high and low performance areas for family planning. But respondents' mean age (38.5) in high performance areas was higher than that (37.0) in low performance areas 2. Respondents' perception in the expectant educational level of others' children in high performance areas was higher than that in low performance areas, although respondents educational level, monthly expenditure and ratio of children in high school and above was not different. 3. Ratio of ownerships of TV and newspaper in high performance areas was highen than that in low performance areas 4. The duration of canvasser' charge in high performance areas was longer than that of low performance areas, showing the fact that canvassers didn't move cut in high performance areas 5. In high performance areas, canvassers' houses were relatively located in the center part of the village. And so villagers resided in near distances from the anvasser's house 6. 4H clubs' activities in high performance areas were more active than those in low performance areas Therefore it was assumed that cohesiveness of community in high performance areas were stronger than that in low areas. 7. Canvassers' family planning practice rate was higher than that in low performance areas, and also canvassers' human relationship was more sociable than that of canvassers in low performance areas. 8. Fourteen variables which showed relatively high significance level in $X^2$ and F test were selected as independent variables for stepwise regression analysis. According to the results of regression analysis. five of 14 variables-distributors education level ($R^2$=.4439), duration of distributor's charge ($R^2$=.6166), 4H club activities ($R^2$=.6697), canvasser's contraceptive practice ($R^2$=.7377) and location of distributions house ($R^2$=.8010) explained 80.1 percent of total variance.

The purpose of the research is to propose an integrated project planning process and its implementation method. Although there is increasing interest in the application of the Earned Value Management(EVM) method in the project management area, the progress and maturity of the technical performance have not been included in assessing the Earned Value. The main concept of the planning process is to use cost, schedule, as well as the technical performance in the assessment of the Earned Value Management for Military R&D project management practices. The resulting process can enhance the efficiency of the project work by eliminating the currently duplicated activities between traditional project planning process and the newly implemented Earned Value Management process and by shortening the early planning process duration of projects adopting EVM practices.
