Rework in the construction industry can adversely affect project cost and schedule performance. Based on direct rework costs recorded on 359 construction projects, this paper presents an assessment of the magnitude of rework by various types of projects and sources of rework. The results from this paper establish that on average 4.5% and 2.5% of actual construction costs were spent on rework for owner and contractor projects, respectively. Furthermore, this paper determines that the direct rework costs differ by project types and sources of rework. Finally, it permits the development of rework reduction initiatives. By quantifying and recognizing the different magnitude of rework, the industry can be aware of the waste from rework and develop effective plans for managing rework, ultimately improving project cost performance.

This study empirically tests post-M&A performance through competitiveness variables based on extensive firm-based panel data over the past 26 years in the world steel industry. Different measures of profitability, productivity, efficiency, market share, and growth rate which are considered as critical factors of competitiveness are used in the analysis. In particular, this paper tries to separate M&A samples into two cases; horizontal integration (between steel makers) and vertical integration (between steel makers and iron ore suppliers/steel consuming firms). Merged firms show significant improvement in competitiveness relative to other individual firms in the steel industry.

In this paper, we proposed a new robust control scheme to implement stable control of robot manipulators including nonlinear perameters The proposed robust controller is composed of a nonlinear controller and linear compemsation controller. It shows a good robust performance in reaching mode which does not possess invariance property. Thus, the proposed nonlinear controller showed a good robust performance in the whole region, It was illustrated that the proposed control showed a good transient response and trajectory tracking performance for robot manipulator with four joint by experiments.

Six sigma has been the most influential management innovation program since 1996 in Korea. As a result of successful implementation of 6 sigma, there have been a number of dramatic quality improvement cases. However, no empirical study of 6 sigma implementation study has done especially in the service industry of Korea. This article reviews status of finance companies which implemented 6 sigma programs in Korea and then demonstrates the relationship between 6 sigma problem solving tools such as analysis of variance and graph techniques, etc and project success and operational performance. Customer survey tools, process analysis, and documentation tool are identified as influential tools on project success. Tools of measure steps, customer survey tools, and documentation tool are found as influential tools on operational performance.

This paper introduces the combined test results of the traction system for KHST(Korean High Speed Train: hereafter refer to KHST). The main purpose of this combined test is to verify the performance of the traction system that is designed to operate up to maximum 350km/h speed. Combined test system consists of a traction transformer, two AC-DC PWM converters, a PWM Inverter, two traction motors and flywheel system. Flywheel system represents equivalent model of the train inertia. Also traction control system and MASCON Interfaces are included. Various kinds of experiments are performed to prove total traction system performance and detail waveforms are described

The construction industry has the most safety accidents among domestic industries. Special care must be taken because disasters in the construction industry lead to social problems caused by huge property losses and casualties. As a result of this, there is a growing awareness of disasters occurring in the construction industry, and government departments are tightening regulations on safety management. In particular, the OSHA(Occupational Safety and Health Agency) focuses on the expansion of protection targets and the clarification of responsibility in the full amendment OSHA. As a result, a study that focuses on safety management by client's responsibility is needed. In this study, the project performance capability assessment of construction project management contractors, which is being carried out with uniform assessment criteria without considering the characteristics of the construction project, is considered and all the amendments to the OSHA are considered, and the factors were derived for improvement measures.

The diffusion of smart devices has greatly influenced the market dynamics of the telecommunications industry. The competition paradigm has shifted from individual firm-based competition to ecosystem-based competition. To satisfy the diverse needs of market customers, it has become more important for telecommunications companies to form alliances with complementary partners in the ecosystem. This study empirically investigates the influence of ecosystem-based alliance formations on the financial performance of firms in the Korean telecommunications market. Specifically, the impact of a CPND (Content, Platforms, Networks, and Devices) alliance in the ICT (Information and Communications Technology) sector on firms' profitability is examined using a structural equation model. The results indicate that before the diffusion of smart devices, ecosystem-based alliance formations with other firms in the ICT ecosystem were not effective for enhancing profitability. However, after this diffusion, alliance formation between members of the value chain in the ICT ecosystem contributed significantly to firms' financial performance. This implies that recent alliances with firms that are constituents of the ICT ecosystem are an important element of profit generation in the ICT market in Korea.

With the advent of a recent knowledge-based society, interest in patents is steadily increasing. The patent is an important indicator that can capture the level of R&D investment and technology development. In an era of deepening new protectionism and the pandemic of COVID-19, patents play an important role in sustainable economic development and establishing a strong domestic industrial ecosystem. In this paper, we analyze the impact of patent applications on the corporate performance of the Korean manufacturing industry over the past 21 years from 1999 to 2019. We divide patents into overseas patents and domestic patents and analyze the respective effects on the entire manufacturing industry, ICT industries, and non-ICT industries. Major findings are summarized as follows. First, patents have a positive effect on both exports and sales of Korean manufacturing companies. Second, overseas patents have a greater impact on corporate performance than domestic patents. Third, Patents have a more positive effect on ICT industries than on non-ICT industries.

The purpose of this study was to compare the performance using multiple regression models to predict the energy consumption of steel industry. Specific independent variables were selected in consideration of correlation among various attributes such as CO2 concentration, NSM, Week Status, Day of week, and Load Type, and preprocessing was performed to solve the multicollinearity problem. In data preprocessing, we evaluated linear and nonlinear relationships between each attribute through correlation analysis. In particular, we decided to select variables with high correlation and include appropriate variables in the final model to prevent multicollinearity problems. Among the many regression models learned, Boosted Decision Tree Regression showed the best predictive performance. Ensemble learning in this model was able to effectively learn complex patterns while preventing overfitting by combining multiple decision trees. Consequently, these predictive models are expected to provide important information for improving energy efficiency and management decision-making at steel industry. In the future, we plan to improve the performance of the model by collecting more data and extending variables, and the application of the model considering interactions with external factors will also be considered.

본 연구에서는 연쇄창업자를 대상으로 창업자의 창업경험을 통한 학습, 이전 창업기업의 성과, 산업의 전문성, 재창업을 위한 준비(창업커뮤니티와 교육) 요인이 재창업기업의 성과에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 실증적으로 분석하였다. 또한 창업경험과 재창업기업의 성과간의 관계에서 동종산업내 재창업 여부와 창업커뮤니티 또는 교육 프로그램 참여를 통한 효과가 조절역할을 하는지도 함께 분석하였다. 분석결과, 창업경험과 이전 창업기업의 성과는 재창업기업의 매출성과에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤으며 동종산업내 재창업 여부와 창업커뮤니티 또는 교육 프로그램의 효과는 직접적인 유의미한 영향은 없었으나 창업경험에 대한 조절효과를 나타냈다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 연쇄창업자가 산업의 전문성을 자산화 시켜 활용하고 재창업을 위한 커뮤니티와 교육프로그램 참여를 통해 재창업에 도전할 수 있으며 궁극적으로 재창업기업의 성과를 향상시킬 수 있다는 시사점을 제시하였다.
