입자상물질과 VOCs 동시제거 실증장치에서 자동차 페인트 부스 발생 paint aerosol과 VOCs의 동시제거 성능 특성 (Performance characteristics of simultaneous removal equipment for paint particulate matter and VOCs generated from a spraying paint booth)

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the performance characteristics of the paint particulate and volatile organic compounds(VOCs) simultaneous removal from the spraying paint booth in the laboratory and real site by sticky paint particulate and VOCs simultaneous removal demonstration unit. The sticky paint particulate and VOCs simultaneous removal unit is composed of the horizontal type pleated filter modules and the zig-zag type granular activated carbon packing modules. The test conditions at the laboratory are $50.15g/m^3$ of average paint aerosol concentration and 300 ppm of VOCs concentration which were same as the working conditions of spraying paint booth in the real site. But, the demonstration conditions at the real site are varied according to the working condition of spraying paint booth for the kind of passenger car bodies. The test results at the laboratory obtained that 99% of total particulate collection efficiency at 0.62 m/min of filtration velocity and 84% at 1.77 m/min of filtration velocity. The VOCs removal efficiencies are 97% at $3500hr^{-1}$ of gas hour space velocity and 59% at $10,000hr^{-1}$ of gas hour space velocity. In the real site test, the average removal efficiency of PM10 was measured to be 99.65%, the average removal efficiency of PM2.5 was 99.38%, the average removal efficiency of PM1 was 98.52%, and the average removal efficiency of VOCs was 89%.

  • 원자력 발전소 설비의 건전성 확인을 위해서 주기적일 초음파탐상검사가 수행되고 있다. 수동 초음파탐상검사는 검사자의 경험 및 현장여건에 따라 균일한 검사 품질에 영향을 주게 되나, 자동 초음파탐상검사는 스캐너의 적용으로 검사 결과의 일관성을 유지하고, 디스크에 저장된 검사결과는 제3자에 의한 검토가 가능하다. 국내 원자력발전소에서 사용 중인 상용 초음파검사 시스템은 장비 구매, 교육 및 교정 등을 해외에 의존하고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 초음파 하드웨어, 배관 스캐너 및 초음파검사 프로그램(SonicWizard)으로 구성된 초음파검사 시스템을 개발하였다. 개발된 시스템의 검증을 위해 원전 배관 용접부의 자동 초음파검사 기량검증을 응시하여 인증을 획득하였으며, 현장 배관 감육 자동 초음파검사를 수행하여 정확한 감육상태를 확인함으로써 개발된 자동 초음파검사 시스템의 유효성을 확인하였다.

Lifespan assessment of piezoelectric sensors under disposal condition of high-level nuclear waste repository

  • A high-level nuclear waste (HLW) repository is designed for the long-term disposal of high-level waste. Positioned at depths of 500-1000 meters, it offers an alternative to the insufficient storage space for spent fuels, providing a long-term solution. High-level waste emits heat and radiation, causing structural deterioration, including strength reduction and cracks. Therefore, the use of piezoelectric sensors for structural health monitoring is essential for evaluating the safety of the structure over time. Unlike other structures, the HLW repository restricts human access after the disposal of HLW, rendering sensor replacement impossible. Therefore, it is necessary to assess both the lifespan and suitability of sensors under the disposal conditions in the HLW repository. This study employed an accelerated life test (ALT) to assess the sensor's lifespan under disposal conditions. Failure modes, failure mechanisms, and operational limits were analyzed through accelerated stress test (AST). Additionally, the parameters of the Weibull life probability distribution and the Arrhenius accelerated life model were estimated through statistical methods, including the likelihood ratio test, maximum likelihood estimation, and hypothesis testing. Results confirmed that the sensor's lifespan decreases significantly with the increase in the temperature limit of the HLW repository. The findings of this study can be used for improving sensor lifespan through shielding, development of alternative sensors, or lifespan evaluation of alternative monitoring sensors.

Effect Analysis for Frequency Recovery of 524 MW Energy Storage System for Frequency Regulation by Simulator

  • To test the effectiveness of using an energy storage system for frequency regulation, the Energy New Business Laboratory at KEPCO Research Institute installed a 4 MW energy storage system (ESS) demonstration facility at the Jocheon Substation on Jeju Island. And after the successful completion of demonstration operations, a total of 52 MW ESS for frequency regulation was installed in Seo-Anseong (28 MW, governor-free control) and in Shin-Yongin (24 MW, automatic generation control). The control system used in these two sites was based on the control system developed for the 4 MW ESS demonstration facility. KEPCO recently finished the construction of 184 MW ESS for frequency regulation in 8 locations, (e.g. Shin-Gimjae substation, Shin-Gaeryong substation, etc.) and they are currently being tested for automatic operation. KEPCO plans to construct additional ESS facilities (up to a total of about 500 MW for frequency regulation by 2017), thus, various operational tests would first have to be conducted. The high-speed characteristic of ESS can negatively impact the power system in case the 500 MW ESS is not properly operated. At this stage we need to verify how effectively the 500 MW ESS can regulate frequency. In this paper, the effect of using ESS for frequency regulation on the power system of Korea was studied. Simulations were conducted to determine the effect of using a 524 MW ESS for frequency regulation. Models of the power grid and the ESS were developed to verify the performance of the operation system and its control system. When a high capacity power plant is tripped, a 24 MW ESS supplies power automatically and 4 units of 125MW ESS supply power manually. This study only focuses on transient state analysis. It was verified that 500 MW ESS can regulate system frequency faster and more effectively than conventional power plants. Also, it was verified that time-delayed high speed operations of multiple ESS facilities do not negatively impact power system operations. It is recommended that further testing be conducted for a fleet of multiple ESSs with different capacities distributed over multiple substations (e.g. 16, 24, 28, and 48 MW ESS distributed across 20 substations) because each ESS measures frequency individually. The operation of one ESS facility will differ from the other ESSs within the fleet, and may negatively impact the performance of the others. The following are also recommended: (a) studies wherein all ESSs should be operated in automatic mode; (b) studies on the improvement of individual ESS control; and (c) studies on the reapportionment of all ESS energies within the fleet.

다단연소사이클 엔진 기술검증시제 개발 현황 (Development Status of Technology Demonstration Model for Staged Combustion Cycle Engine)

  • 다단연소사이클 엔진은 가스발생기 기반의 개방형 엔진에 비해 성능이 좋기 때문에 현재 한국형발사체사업(KSLV-II)의 후속사업의 일환으로 선행연구가 진행 중이다. 기술검증시제 명칭의 TDM0A, TDM0B를 통해 다단연소사이클 엔진의 시동 조건과 연소 특성을 이해하고, 산화제 과잉 예연소기와 연소기 개발을 위한 연소 성능 시험이 수행되었다. 시험 데이터를 토대로 엔진 형상 모델 TDM1A를 제작하여 연소 시험을 수행했으며, 주연소기 연소압 91 bar, 터보펌프 회전수 28,000 rpm의 안정적인 결과로 개발요구조건을 만족하였다. 본 논문에서는 TDM0A부터 TDM1A까지의 개발과정과 특징에 대해 논하고자 한다.

고준위방사성폐기물 심층처분에 미치는 황산염과 황화물의 영향에 대한 고찰 (A Review of the Influence of Sulfate and Sulfide on the Deep Geological Disposal of High-level Radioactive Waste)

  • 원자력발전소의 사용후핵연료(Spent Nuclear Fuel: SNF)에 대한 최종처분은 지하 심부의 지질학적 저장소에서 이루어진다. 사용후핵연료를 감싸는 금속처분용기는 주철과 구리 등으로 제작되어 방사성핵종을 장기간 격리할 예정이며, 공학적방벽과 천연방벽으로 구성된 다중방벽처분시스템에 의해 보호를 받도록 설계된다. 지하 심부의 환경(심층처분환경)은 점차 무산소의 환원환경으로 바뀌게 되며, 이러한 환경에서 구리처분용기의 부식을 일으킬 수 있는 유력한 물질 중 하나는 황화물이다. 황화물에 의한 응력균열부식은 구리처분용기의 안정성을 크게 저하시켜 처분장의 장기안전성에 큰 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 심층처분환경에는 황산염이 다양한 형태로 존재 또는 유입될 수 있으며, 황산염환원미생물에 의해 황화물로 전환되어 구리처분용기의 부식에 기여할 수 있다. 완충재와 뒤채움재의 유력한 후보물질인 벤토나이트에는 주로 석고(CaSO4)와 같은 산화형태의 황산염 광물이 포함되어 있다. 심층처분환경 내에 미생물이 생장할 만한 공간이 있고 유기 탄소 등 전자공여체가 충분히 공급된다면 미생물 활동에 의해 황산염이 황화물로 환원될 수 있다. 하지만 근계영역에서 생성된 황화물과 지권으로부터 유입되는 황화물 중 대부분은 완충재에 의해 차단되어 극히 일부만이 처분용기에 도달할 것이다. 처분환경에서 존재가능한 황화철 광물 중 하나인 황철석은 용해과정에서 황산염을 발생시켜 구리처분용기의 부식에 기여할 수 있다. 하지만 황철석의 극히 낮은 용해도로 인해 산화 생성물의 양은 매우 적을 것이고 포화된 벤토나이트의 낮은 수리전도도로 인해 처분용기로 산화 생성물의 이동은 제한될 것이다. 우리는 심층처분환경에서 황산염의 존재와 환원 그리고 황화물과 황철석의 형성 및 거동 특성 등에 관한 주요 연구 사례 등을 종합적으로 분석, 정리하였고, 고준위방사성폐기물 처분장의 장기안전성에 대한 황산염과 황화물의 영향을 이해하고자 하였다.

전략적 학습의 촉진을 위한.균형 성과측정시스템의 개발 (Balanced Performance Measurement System for Strategic Learning)

  • This paper suggests a dynamic balanced scorecard (DBSC) model employing the concept of system dynamics (SD), which could overcome the limitations inherent in the conventional balanced scorecard (BSC) and facilitate strategic learning process in organizations. The BSC has been a successful framework for measuring an organization's performance in various Perspectives through translating an organization's vision and strategy into an interrelated set of key performance indicators and specific actions. The BSC, while having significant strengths over traditional performance measurement methods, however, has its own limitations, due to its static nature, such as overlooking two-way causation between performance Indicators and neglecting the impact of delayed feedback flowing from the adoption of new strategies or policy changes. To overcome these limitations, we employs SD, a methodology for understanding complex systems where dynamic feedback among the interrelated system components significantly impact on the system outcomes. The SD simulation model in the form of DBSC we suggest in this paper would serve as a useful strategic learning tool for facilitating an organization's communication process through various scenario analyses as well as predicting the dynamic behavior pattern of their key performance measures over a future time frame. For the demonstration purpose, we apply the DBSC model to Korea Coal Corporation (KoCoal ) BSC case.

누출점검용 스마트가스미터의 성능시험 가이드라인 개발 연구 (Study on Development of Performance Evaluation Guidelines for Leak Test Smart Gas Meter)

  • 국내 도시가스 보급률은 크게 성장했지만, 국내 가스계량기 계량·안전점검·요금 분야는 아직 서비스 초기방식에서 벗어나지 못하고 있다. 스마트가스미터에 관한 개발과 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있지만 스마트가스미터의 도입에는 신뢰성과 안전성을 검증할 수 있는 합리적인 성능평가 방안과 기준이 필요하다. 본 논문은 스마트가스미터의 성능을 시험하기 위한 성능시험 시작품을 제작하고 시작품의 실증 운용을 통해 성능평가 방안을 최적화하여 국내에 스마트가스미터가 원활하게 확대/보급될 수 있도록 하는 것을 목적으로 한다.

도시형 자기부상열차 추진특성에 관한 성능연구 (Research of Performance for the Propulsion System of Maglev Vehicle)

  • This paper introduces the performance test of the prototype vehicle, which will be in operation for Urban Maglev Program. While common trains with steel wheels use rotary induction motors for propulsion, maglev trains gain thrust force from linear induction motors maintaining the constant airgap with levitation electromagnets. Therefore, not only the behavior of the linear induction motor should be well understood, but also the way of propulsion that minimizes its effect on the levitation system should be took into account. Performance test procedures of maglev trains are proposed and carried out, and the characteristics of acceleration and deceleration are verified to agree with the design criteria. Tests are mainly performed on the linear section of the test line, and the driving characteristics on the section with a 6‰ incline are examined additionally. As a result, the performance of the prototype vehicle in the reverse operation can satisfy the requirement about the acceleration and deceleration, 4.0$m/s^2$. And, the design modifications of the commercial vehicle and the performance specifications required on the demonstration line are investigated.

하수관거정비 BTL사업의 효과분석 및 방안 수립 연구 (Development of Evaluation Methodology on the Performance of BTL Sewer Rehabilitation Projects)

  • It requires an interim performance assessment for BTL business of the sewerage rehabilitation which continues from 2005 till now. Means, It is necessary to make an interim performance assessment and an analysis of an business effect of the sewerage rehabilitation BTL projects which still continues, and we presented an improvement method of the new sewerage rehabilitation project in future. This paper has conducted an analysis of the business effect for 3 local government BTL projects which are completed and under operation as of now in Jincheon-Gun, Cheongju-Si and Gangjin-Gun. As a method of business effect analysis, we conducted a business effect of the 3 places using the index set which we previously set for the business effect analysis. The index set in this research was sectionalized to an improvement effect of operating wastewater treatment plant, an benefit effect of the direct cost, an benefit effect of the indirect cost and an environment friendly effect. We, in this paper, conducted an business effect analysis for 3 sewerage rehabilitation BTL projects which are completed or under operation recently as a demonstration, however we judge that an business effect analysis shall be conducted in a stage that a significant time for operation has passed since the completion of the construction in order to induce an actual business effect of the sewerage rehabilitation BTL project.
