L2 Learning Motivation in Technology Enhanced Instruction: A Survey from Three Perspectives

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the ways in which CALL apply to enhance the motivational aspects of second language learning. Theories relevant to social, cognitive, and affective foundations of motivation are first reviewed to demonstrate the important role of motivational influences in improving learners' affect and achievements. Then, implications arising from such theories in strengthening the motivational aspects of CALL are explicated in the second part. With the spread of computer technology in language classrooms, the innovative role of CALL in the development and maintenance of intrinsic motivation can be illustrated. Specifically, CALL may provide cognitively supportive instruction geared towards improving students' performance. Also, it has been reported from the affective perspective that CALL can captivate learners' attention, promote their feelings and expectations of success, improve perceptions of control, and increase positive attributions to effort and ability. Finally, from a social learning perspective, CALL may enhance learners' self-efficacy and foster their achievement and positive affect through social interactions, proximal goal-setting, and attributional feedback. In the framework of CALL, students seem to be benefited by the immediacy and authenticity of contact with target languages and cultures made at their choices and decisions.

Success Factors of Immigrant-Owned Informal Grocery Shops in South African Townships: Native Shop-Owners' Account

  • Purpose - This paper explores the perceptions held by native grocery shop-owners of their foreign counterparts to ascertain if there are lessons to be shared especially regarding operational/survival strategies. Research design, data and methodology - A questionnaire was used to collect data from 121 subjects who were purposively selected. The data was processed and analysed with the aid of Statistical Package for the Social Sciences(SPSS) software. Results - The study found that native South Africans hold the perception that immigrants have operational advantage over them. The study also found that with bulk buying, immigrants' stores stock a larger variety of groceries while their items are sold cheaper. It is also arguable from the standpoint of the findings that immigrant grocery store owners avoid expensive lifestyles which often is common among natives who own informal grocery shops. Conclusions - It is the position of this paper that adopting the strategies utilized by immigrant entrepreneurs, informal grocery shops owned by native South Africans are likely to see an improvement in their township-based grocery stores. A major merit of this study beyond its novelty is its potential to advance learnership and collaboration between immigrant entrepreneurs and their native counterparts.

  • Many companies are now studying these generational conflict issues and seeking countermeasures. As seen in the recent performance-based pay issue, the MZ generation is boldly showing their intention unlike the previous generation. This study focuses on LX Hausys' education program to overcome the generation gap. As a representative field education program of LXHausys, it is a longevity education program that was developed and operated at the end of 14 years and has been in operation so far. By acknowledging and understanding the generation gap through this educational program, it was possible to see that they could sympathize and accept each other one step further, and that trust in each other was formed on the basis of it. The success factors of the generation empathy program were identified as the willingness to share perceptions between labor and management, participatory education programs, active participation of members, and overcoming generation empathy. Through such education, the organization should continuously raise the issue of generational empathy and allow members to recognize it as an object to overcome. To this end, efforts should be made to overcome generational differences.

Research on the Continuous Use Intention of Mobile Bus Payment App from the Perspective of user Quality Perception

  • 본 연구는 D&M 모델과 ECM모델을 기반으로 소비자가 대중교통 모바일 결제 앱을 지속적으로 사용하는 데 영향을 미치는 연구 모델을 구축하였다. 온라인 설문조사를 통해 중국 베이징지역에서 264개의 유효한 설문지를 획득하여 Smartpls3.0으로 분석하였다. 연구 결과는, 지각된 정보의 질, 지각된 시스템의 질, 그리고 지각된 인터페이스 설계의 질은 지각된 유용성과 만족을 통하여 소비자 지속적 사용의도에 유의한 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 지각된 기능의 질은 단지 지각된 유용성만을 통해 지속적 사용의도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것이다.

노인학대 인식과 도움요청 태도에 관한 연구: 여섯 가지 노인학대 시나리오를 중심으로 (Perception and Help-Seeking Behavior among Older Persons: Six Hypothetical Elder Mistreatment Scenarios)

  • 본 연구는 노인학대 유형에 따른 여섯 가지 시나리오를 사용하여 60세 이상 일반 노인이 생각하는 노인학대 인식과 도움요청 태도를 살펴보고, 노인학대 인식과 도움요청 태도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 춘천시에 거주하고 있는 60 - 80세 미만 노인으로 성별, 연령대별 동일비율로 할당 표집하여 총 124명에 대해 1:1 면접 조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 여섯 가지 시나리오 상황에서 노인학대에 대한 인식을 살펴본 결과, 신체적 학대, 재정적 학대, 정서적 학대를 비교적 높게 노인학대로 인식한 반면, 노인부부간의 신체적 학대, 며느리에 의한 방임, 노인의 자기방임에 대해서는 학대로 인식하는 비율이 낮게 나타났다. 둘째, 도움요청 태도에서는 신체적 학대와 재정적 학대 상황에서는 도움을 요청하겠다는 의사를 강하게 나타낸 반면, 자녀에 의한 방임 및 자기방임 상황에서는 도움요청에 소극적인 태도를 보였다. 셋째, 노인학대 인식에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 신체적 학대에서는 성, 연령, 교육수준이, 며느리에 의한 방임에서는 재정상태, 사회활동참여, 노인부양태도가 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 파악되었다. 넷째, 노인의 도움요청 태도에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 노인학대 인식여부가 모든 학대상황에서 도움요청 태도에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 성, 교육수준, 자녀수, 효만족도, 재정상태, 사회활동참여, 노인학대 태도, 노인부양태도가 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다. 본 연구를 통해 한국의 사회문화적 요인이 노인학대 연구에 중요한 영향을 미치는 요인으로 나타났으며, 이를 바탕으로 노인학대 예방교육 등 노인복지현장에서의 구체적 실천방안을 제시하였다.

과업기술적합도(TTF)가 그룹지원시스템(GSS)의 사용 및 성과에 미치는 영향 : 전유방식동의 정도와 전유 충실도의 조절효과를 고려하여 (The Influence of TTF on GSS Usage and Task Performance : Focusing on moderating effect of COA and FOA)

  • 본 연구에서는 조직 구성원의 협업을 위하여 도입되는 GSS(Group Support System)를 대상으로 과업과 기술의 적합도(TTF: Task-Technology Fit)가 GSS의 사용과 성과에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구를 수행하고자 하였다. 특히 조직구성원들의 상호작용 영향을 고려하기 위해 적응구조화이론(AST: Adaptive Structuration Theory)에서 제시하고 있는 그룹 구성원들 간의 전유방식의 동의정도(COA)와 사용자와 설계자 간의 일치(FOA)의 조절효과를 고려하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 GSS를 도입하여 사용하고 있는 기업을 대상으로 2005년 6월 2일부터 6월 27일까지 약 1달 간 총 303부의 설문지를 회수하여 분석하였다. 연구결과, 과업기술적합도는 GSS 사용과 성과에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 전유방식의 동의정도가 강할 경우 GSS사용에 강력한 영향력을 행사하였다. 또한, 전유의 충실도역시 과업기술적합도와 GSS 사용과 성과 간의 관계에 모두 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 위해 개인의 정보시스템 성과에 대한 연구에서 보편적으로 널리 사용되어 온 과업기술적합도 모형과 정보시스템에 구성원들이 적응하는 과정을 설명하는 적응구조화이론 이론을 통합함으로써 GSS 사용에 따른 개인의 성과를 보다 구체적으로 파악할 수 있을 것이다.

김유신 관련 사료를 통해 본 시기별 인식 (Periodical Perceptions from Historical Materials for KIM Yoo-Shin)

  • 김유신은 살아 있을 때는 물론이고 죽은 뒤에도 신라에서 높은 평가를 받았다. 살아 있을 때는 태종과 문무왕을 보필하여 '일통삼한'의 대업을 이룩한 최고의 신하로 평가받았다. 당나라는 물론이고 고구려와 일본에서도 김유신의 정치적 위상을 높이 평가했다. 김유신은 죽은 뒤에도 태종을 도와 대업을 이룬 '좋은 신하' 또는 '성스런 신하'라고 인식되었다. 또, 문무왕과 함께 '두 명의 성인'으로 추앙되었으며, 불교적으로 33천의 한 사람이 내려온 것이 김유신이라고 인식되었다. 신라 하대에는 '흥무대왕'으로 추봉되어 '무(武)를 일으킨 대왕'이라는 극찬을 받았다. 고려시기에는 신라에 이어서 진천현 태령산의 사당에서 국가제사로 받들어졌다. 김부식은 김유신과 태종무열왕 문무왕의 관계를 빗대어 자신의 처지를 보여주려 했는데, 김유신을 두 왕의 절대적인 신임을 받아 큰 공을 이룬 인물로 평가했다. 또 윤관은 김유신이 신령스러운 기적을 많이 일으킨 장군으로 인식했고, 이승휴는 김유신이 오묘한 병서를 얻어 무예에 뛰어났다고 말했다. 고려 말의 정추도 김유신이 기이한 능력을 가진 장수이고 큰 무공을 세웠다고 인식했다. 조선시기에서도 태종무열왕 문무왕과 신하 김유신의 절대적인 신임관계로 인해 김유신이 큰 공적을 세웠다는 평가가 지속되었다. 그리고 김유신은 신라의 무(武)를 대표하는 인물이거나 신라 왕조 전 역사에서 가장 뛰어난 인물이라고 보았다. 나아가 중국의 인물에 견줄만한 능력과 공훈이 있는 인물이라고 인식되었다. 조선에서도 김유신이 병법에 뛰어났고 쇠뇌와 같은 훌륭한 무기를 활용했다고 보았으며, 특히 임진왜란을 겪으면서 그들은 김유신이 왜적을 소탕해주기를 바랐다. 김유신은 우리나라 역사에서 무(武)를 대표하는 인물로 평가되었다. 그리고 성리학적 관점에서 이러한 김유신의 행적을 통해 그를 충신이라고 인식했다.

산업장 근로자들의 건강진단에 대한 지식 및 태도 조사연구 -강원도 영서지역을 중심으로- (A Study on the Knowledge, and Attitude of Health Examination of Industrial Workers -In Kangwon Province-)

  • There has been a rapid growth in Korea since 1962 because of the success of the 5-year Economic Plan. The number of industrial work and workers has also made had a rapid increase. Consequently, the management of occupational health for the purpose of promoting health in industrial workers is needed especially in the health examination program. The purpose of this study was to analyze the Knowledge, and Attitude among industrial workers of health examination programs. The target population was 402 industrial workers from 4 factories in Kangwon province. A survey was conducted to collect data by a self administered questionnaire from October 29 to November 5. A sixty four item questionnaire was designed to collect data concerning Knowledge, and Attitude of health examination of industrial workers. The data was analyzed by means of percentage, mean, T-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient. The major findings were as follows : 1. The respondents presented the following picture : The male population was 88%. 57% of respondents were age 25-34 years old. 69.4% of respondents were married. 73.4% of respondents were high school graduates. 80.8% of the respondents were working over 48 hours per week. The respondents with over 10 years on the job were 31.9% of the respondents. Health examination were given to the respondents as: pre-employment health examination 90.5%, general health examination 91.5%, and special health examination 31.5%. 2. The Knowledge level was different in health examination items. 80.5% of respondents had knowledge about hearing test, body weight, visually, chest X-ray like simple things. Below 50% of respondents had knowledge of urine test, liver function test, and career history. 3. Attitude status about health examination showed an average score 36.5(median 33) of satisfaction, 26.93(median 21) of importance, 13.84 (median 21) of content, 10.46(median 12 of reliability on health examination results. 4. The level of Attitude on health examination was significantly different than the Knowledge level. 5. The relationship among stated variables such as satisfaction, the perceptions of importance on health, health examination, the result and follow up after health examination were shown to reflect neither positively nor negatively on each other.

진료정보교류 인센티브사업에 대한 이해관계자 조사연구 (Stakeholder Survey on the Incentive Program to Promote the Adoption of Health Information Exchange)

  • Health Information Exchange (HIE) is expected to improve the quality and efficiency of care by allowing providers online access to healthcare information generated by other providers at the point of care. However, the adoption of the technology in Korea has been slow since its pilot program in 2007~2010 at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital. The objective of this study was to survey stakeholders on the incentive program for the facilitation of HIE adoption. We surveyed 39 experts representing 6 categories of stakeholders-provider, insurer, government, information service firms, customers, and medical informatics experts for the interviews. Interview questions included program objectives, program participation requirements, incentive payment method, and administrative burden for program participation. Experts indicated that the quality of care was the most important value the program should aim to achieve through the HIE adoption. They suggested that the requirements and administrative burden for participation should be kept at minimum to recruit a large number of providers to the program, which is an indicator of program success. Experts were divided on the payment method whether the incentive should be paid as a part of the fee payment scheme operated by the National Health Insurance (NHI) or should be a payment made independent of the NHI. The source of the divide was conflict of interest among stakeholders as to who pays for the program, and the insurer and consumer groups were against the NHI taking the financial burden. It appeared to be the most significant factor for the successful program launching to resolve the gap in perceptions about benefits of the technology among stakeholders and to win the willingness to pay for the program.

  • The objective of this study is to establish a theoretical framework of factors and strategies for success , by probing into design management strategies and the resulting product development details of firms from many parts of the world that improved their images and competitiveness through industrial design. As a means for a company to successfully develop products and to survive, strategies for successful product development were unfolded by many leading businesses of industrial design, whose methods and strategies were respectively unique. International companies such as Philips, Sony, Braun, Ford, and Alessi employed industrial design to not only renew their brand perceptions, but also added values to human life by embedding exclusive designs that customers prefer in their products. They have used design as a business strategic tool, whose elemental processes are, planning, organizing, directing, and controlling. In conclusion, the successful strategies of the leading global companies' design management and product development share the following First, these companies seek design strategies that foresee upcoming changes and are ahead of their time. Second, the CEO is aware of the importance of design, has an appreciative eye for design, and puts in effort into supporting and developing his or her design sector. Third, the director is provided with the conditions in which he or she can take control of one's tasks, and has the abilities and qualities to provide visions for the future. Fourth, the product development team uses original and logical processes and is highly organized. Fifth, the design organization effectively utilizes necessary experts of internal and external company. Sixth, the firm produces innovative products that meet the customers' demand and predict the future. Seventh, the products developed shall employ cutting-edge technologies and are new and original. Eighth, the product must have an identity as a product that represents the company.
