This study reports a field study that examined the citizens' needs and perceptions of library services at a municipal public library system of Mapo-gu, in an attempt to develop a comprehensive service plan that can satisfy the diverse public needs in the changing social environment. We administered a self-reported questionnaire to 800 library users and 300 non-users in the area to examine their reading habits, library use, and perceptions of library services and programs. As a result of the analysis, 53.7% of Mapo-gu residents used one or two libraries among all 16 municipal libraries, and the primary criterion for selecting the main library was accessibility(63.9%). And only 53.8% of library users had experience participating in the library programs. The respondents also showed strong perception that the library is an essential place for the community and the children. Study results indicate that the library system should further expand the collection size, diversify information contents, improve the physical space including library facilities, and build more libraries. In order to fulfill the role of public libraries as the central place of the community, the municipal city should further invest in enhancing accessibility, spatial innovation, and diversifying service contents and media.

During the COVID-19 period, public libraries produced and provided a variety of online contents to users as an alternative to offline services. The purpose of this study was to analyze the overall management of online contents in public libraries in the post COVID-19 period and to provide a methodological basis for improving online contents management. This study surveyed the overall current state of online content management in 305 public libraries in terms of production, services, and preservation. We also analyzed the librarian's perception of the online contents management process. As a result of the analysis even after the COVID-19 period, public libraries are efficiently producing and providing online contents and are actively providing this through the library website and social media. In addition, librarians recognized that online contents produced by public libraries are valuable as library resources and predicted that the online content would be produced more in the future. Also, they faced difficulties in production and management due to a lack of professional capabilities and extra workload, but they have recognized the high need for online contents management. Online contents is leading a paradigm shift in public library services. Therefore, attention and effort to activate online content is no longer an option but a necessity.

The purpose of this study is to discuss the developmental direction of public library specialization by investigating the library specialization and the perception and opinions on the theme specialized librarians. A total of 69 directors have responded to the survey, and the main result was that while there are difficulties in terms of manpower and budget in providing the specialization services, they have been fully aware of the need and value of the libraries' specialized services and were willing to maintain and develop the services in the future. In addition, more than half of the respondents said that the provision of specialized services and the placement of theme specialized librarians at the public libraries are essential. The qualification for the theme specialized librarians was said to be higher than a master's degree and 4 to 7 years or longer of relevant work experience and must be managed as a national qualification system. Based on these results, suggestions were made that the discussions of the specialization service comprised of the training system for specialized librarians, the establishment and operation of the theme specialized librarian qualification system, and the cooperation with the theme related organizations for the qualitative improvement of the specialization service, among others.

The present study is a descriptive study to investigate nurses’perception of barriers to research utilization. A total of 274 participants in this study consisted of registered nurses working in a large, urban and academic medical center. A questionnaire packet containing the Barriers Scale, and a demographic profile was distributed to nurses and they were asked to return the packet to a return-box in the Nursing Office after completion. The greatest barrier was insufficient time on the job to implement new ideas. Next was ‘implications for practice are not made clear'. Also the item of the English language in research articles was considered to be the ninth barrier. The greatest mean score of each of the sub-scales was the communication factor. The were followed by the organization, research, and nurse factors. Compared with the means from other studies, the mean scores of the communication and research factors were higher in this study. Nurses who had not taken a class of research methods found the communication and research factors as a higher barrier than those who did. Also, nurses who did not participate in a conference last year perceived the research factor as higher than those who did. It is recommended that English and research classes should be strengthened in educational nursing programs. The researchers should also describe the section of implication for practice as more detail and clearer for the understanding of nurses; Lastly journals in a libraries or online journal systems should be easily accessible.

To develop a policy for effective and efficient information services, it is necessary to perform studies that reflect multi-dimensional perspectives of various groups. For this, a literature review on the information service policies of other national digital libraries, focus group interviews of professionals from related fields, and a survey of library users and librarians are needed. This study is based on a survey that asks library users and librarians for their opinions regarding the NDL as a part of research projects to develop the NDL information service policy.

There has been low use of local information services that public libraries provide, and most of those services are limited only through in-house reading or checkout. Motivated by these issues, the study has developed a mobile application (app, hereafter) entitled as LibPass (a combination of Library and Pass) to propose new local information services that reflect the information needs of users. Regarding the design of LibPass, contents of LibPass are composed of the characteristics of local resources so that users can easily search for information about local culture and tour resources through mobile app. That is, it aims to provide efficient information services on local resources by providing information on accommodations, outdoor programs, and specialized libraries, as well as introducing tour resources. Above all, the services are provided with a single card issued by the National Library of Korea and is convenient to use anywhere in the country. It not only secures reliability and currency by utilizing various contents developed by public institutions, but also provides functions to facilitate specialized services for the local information of libraries. Based on the previous research, the present study derives the factors of quality evaluation of mobile tour information services; it constructs objects of LibPass application by analyzing existing applications and develops the prototype based on logical entity relationship model. This model can contribute to the increased use of local information services and, promotes the public's positive perception of the libraries through user-friendly applications.

This study was conducted to discuss concrete ways to contribute to the sustainability of the planet by actively applying and using digital and IT resources in libraries. To this end, a survey was conducted for librarians of public libraries, and the results were as follows. First, librarians' awareness of the seriousness of environmental problems and the degree of eco-friendly activities were very high, but their awareness of library green IT and familiarity with eco-related terms were very low. Nevertheless, there was a high degree of agreement on the importance of applying green IT to libraries. Second, the areas evaluated as having the highest contribution to eco-friendliness and greening of the library were found in the equipment and product operation area, followed by the service area and the network and system area. Third, how do you think library green IT will have a social impact? The highest opinion was given that it could increase the awareness of the library's social responsibility as a social infrastructure. In conclusion, it seems that the library's green IT can contribute to improving library perception by making the public perceived as an institution that has a social responsibility as a social infrastructure.

The research aims to investigate immigrants', librarians' and multicultural experts' information needs and perception on current multicultural services in Korean libraries, and to suggest the directions for providing multicultural library services. The research collected the data through conducting both in-depth interviews and focus group interviews with immigrants, librarians and multicultural experts. The research found the significant and emergent features on immigrants' and librarians' requests and perception about current library multicultural services. On the analysis of the findings, the research discussed the implications of the policies for library multicultural services and the alternatives to improve library multicultural services and librarians' multicultural competencies.

The purpose of this paper based on the preliminary research is to dove)or the standard job models for children's service of public and children libraries in Korea. To do so, the author surveyed and analysed the perception of library staff of current jobs for children's service using the online questionnaire. And author proposed the standard models(importance difficulty, professionalism, and performance requirements) of library jobs for strengthening children's services. In addition, the this study suggested a plans to enhance professionalism of children's librarian and to introduce its qualification system.

본 연구는 일반 시민이 공공도서관에 가지는 역할 이미지의 유형과, 그러한 역할 이미지들이 어떠한 경로를 통해 형성되는지 파악하고자 하였다. 연구는 다양한 공공도서관 이용정도를 보이는 서울특별시 시민 6명을 대상으로 한 개별심층면담을 통해 이루어졌다. 면담 내용을 분석한 결과, 다양한 경험 중 직접 도서관을 이용해 본 경험이 공공도서관에 대한 인식을 형성하는 가장 큰 경로로 나타났다. 특히 응답자들의 사서에 대한 이미지와 도서관에 느끼는 이미지가 매우 유사하였다. 간접적인 경험 중에서는 주변인의 공공도서관 경험이 가장 큰 영향을 미쳤으며, 홍보물, 언론, 웹사이트 등은 큰 영향을 미치지 못한 것으로 판단된다.
