The purpose of this study was to explore the effect of maternal perception of children's temperament on parenting stress. The subjects of this study were 303 mothers of four to six-year-old. Evaluations of Parent and Teacher temperament questionnaire for Children 3-7 years of age(Tomas, Chess, & Kom, 1977)(korean version) was used to measure children's temperament, and PDH(Parenting Daily Hassles) was used to measure maternal perception of parenting stress. Data were analyzed by descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Peasons's Correlation and multiple regression analysis and Duncan test for post test by SPSS WIN program. The results of this study were as follows; First, the average level of maternal perception of children's temperament was the highest in the category of adaptability and the lowest in the category of threshold of responsiveness. Second, maternal perception of children's temperament was significantly different according to children's sex. Boys were perceived higher than girls for the category of activity level. Third, the degree of daily hassles was explained by adaptability, the quality of mood, and activity level relatively, while the intensity of parenting stress could be predicted orderly by adaptability, threshold of responsiveness, attention span & persistence, regularity, and activity level. Fourth, mother's daily hassles was explained 22% valiance by children's temperament such as adaptability, the quality of mood, and activity level. Future research should be done to identify the interaction of temperamental factors.
Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the levels of ego-identity and related factors in middle-aged women who lived in G city. Methods: The participants in this descriptive study were 437 middle-aged (40-60 year old) women. Data were collected from January to February, 2006. Personal interviews with a structured questionnaire (9 items of general characteristics, 30 items of subjects' characteristics related to health and 56 items of ego-identity) were conducted used. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and multiple linear regression analysis. Results: Ego-identity was significantly associated with the variables of age, educational level, monthly income, living with the parents of the subject's husband, number of children, smoking. exercise, depression, perceived health status, and satisfaction of marital status (p<0.05). In multiple linear regression analysis of the subjects' characteristics which were significantly associated with ego-identity, monthly income, living with the parents of the subject's husband, and depression were significant variables (p<0.05). Conclusion: It is necessary to study the depression of middle-aged women in Geoje city and develop programs with consideration for the significant factors which can improve their ego-identity.
The transition from manufacturing to service-based economies in highly developed societies during the post-industrial period resulted in the decline of the industrial landscape, leaving it abandoned or underutilized. In pursuit of revitalizing the obsolete industrial space, innovative design techniques based on adaptive reuse are applied to retrofit modern functions to create a new cultural space and preserve the historical, symbolic, and cultural importance of the abandoned industrial facilities. Design considerations based on facade redesign have proven to be one of the most adopted techniques that can help in recreating a new function for the vacant industrial buildings and integrating them into the present-day urban fabric. This paper examines the facade renovation elements used for the adaptive reuse of 15 abandoned industrial buildings presently used as multi-purpose facilities in South Korea. Through a questionnaire survey, this study analyzes the respondents' preference for different facade renovation elements in the 15 sites according to age and gender. The study found that both genders showed similar preference patterns between most elements. But on some elements, females were keener and expressed a stronger opinion than males. There were much more females than males who perceived color and material as the most important exterior elements. The findings of this study can be used for the adaptive reuse of industrial buildings according to user preferences for different facade renovation elements.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the relationships among parenting role sharing, parenting stress, happiness, and parenting behavior of mothers with 6-year-old children. Methods: This study used data from the seventh Panel Study of Korean Children, which began collecting longitudinal data on a sample of newborn households nationwide in 2008 and will continue yearly until 2027. The participants were 1,560 mothers of children aged 6 years. We conducted statistical analyses using descriptive statistics, the t-test, analysis of variance, Pearson correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The mean age of the mothers was 36.8±3.7 years. The mothers' perceived parenting role sharing (r=.07, p=.007), parenting stress (r=-.54, p<.001), and happiness (r=.38, p<.001) were significantly correlated with warm parenting behavior. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that parenting stress (β=-.47, p<.001), happiness (β=.15, p<.001), and parenting role sharing (β=.11, p<.001) were significant predictors for warm parenting behavior by mothers. Conclusion: It is essential to reduce mothers' stress and increase their positive emotions (happiness). Fathers should actively share parenting roles in raising children to enhance mothers' warm parenting behavior.
Objective: The reason why it is important to look at the benefits of exercise-music experience perceived by the elderly is that the satisfaction of life in old age is a meaningful reflection of the subjective perception of the life of the elderly. This is because it must be understood as the center. Design: A qualitative study. Methods: Participants are senior citizens attending senior citizens' college located in Eumseong city. Those who have taken an exercise-music song program for at least one semester served as the participants. Individual interviews were conducted by selecting 10 people through purposeful sampling. The collected data were analyzed by applying Colaizzi's method among phenomenological methods. The exercise-music program was conducted for 12 weeks, for a total of 50 minutes for each time (10 minutes for introduction, 35 minutes for music, 5 minutes for finishing). Results: As a result of the study, the experience of the exercise-music program was derived into 6 categories and 13 subjects. These 6 main categories are 'Changes from the developmental crisis', 'Freedom from the confines of others', 'Positive emotions found through songs', 'Feeling of peer and fellowship relationships', 'Changes in self-awareness', It appeared as a 'Change in the way of life'. Conclusions: In conclusion, the experience of the exercise-music program brought about a positive changes in life of doing one's best by improving confidence and confirming presence. Therefore, this study suggests activation of senior college programs to find a sense of presence for each level by using exercise-music programs with good accessibility.
Aging brings color-weakness to the eye due to yellowed eye sight. The 87% of information required for human behavioral decisions are visually perceived. Therefore, the color-weakness will affect behavior in many ways. Most of previous research regarding color planning for the aged focuses on discovering their preferred colors and reflecting the colors on facility color planning. But such research failed to identify the confused range of color cognitions due to the color weakness of the aged. The purpose of this study is to propose a design guide for fee-charging residential facilities for the elderly, reflecting upon color perception characteristics. An experimental simulation on aged vision using the UV filter and Y-2 filter, YA-3 filter alternating for general eyesight, 70 year-old and late 80 year-old was conducted. The results of this study are as follow : color perception is changed by crystalline lens aging process and yellowed eye sight. The recognition arrangement of colors was preferred to contrast harmony rather than similarity harmony and the dominant color is a warm color rather than a cool color.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the smoking status and related factors among adolescents in Korea. Methods: We used data from the 5-7th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. The distribution of smokers and smoking status according to general characteristics was analyzed using complex chi-square tests. Multiple logistic regression was used to analyze the relationship between smoking experience and general characteristics by calculating the 95% confidence intervals. Results: There were 618 subjects who had experience smoking one or two puffs, the starting age of one or two puffs on smoking was 14.37 years old, the number of smoking days per month was 12.42 days, and the amount of smoking per day in a month was 7.59. Gender, residential area, income level, drinking experience, subjective health status, perceived stress level, continuous depression for more than 2 weeks, suicidal thoughts within a year, and age were significantly related to smoking experience.
