The purpose of this study is to provide the improvement idea for an school uniform styling that better satisfies female high school students' changing demands, through evaluating images differences according to design variation in school uniforms. This study was carried out with a between-subject design by using the stimulant materials of school uniform design and image assessment scale. The stimulant materials used for this study were 27 designs with blazer/skirt ensemble and 21 designs with vest/skirt ensemble. The survey materials were collected through a questionnaire from a total of 192 female high school students living in Gyeongsangnam-do. As a result of analyses on a image of blazer/skirt ensembles, 4 factors were extracted such as neatness, uniqueness, activeness, and attractiveness. Blazer was the only variables that exerted significant effects on neatness, uniqueness, and attractiveness. As a result of analyses on a image of vest/skirt ensembles, 4 factors were extracted such as attractiveness, neatness, uniqueness, and activeness. Skirt was the only variables that exerted significant effects on attractiveness, neatness, and uniqueness. Neat image was perceived to be high in ensembles of standard blazer/standard collar/horizontal-seam skirt, standard vest/skirt with horizontal color combination, and buttons-down vest/horizontal-seam skirt. Unique image was perceived to be high in ensembles of blazer with bindings/standard collar/solid skirt, and vest with pockets/skirt with vertical bindings. Also, active image was perceived to be high in ensembles of vest with pockets/skirt with vertical bindings, and buttons-down vest/skirt with vertical bindings. Attractive image was perceived to be high in ensembles of blazer with bindings/peaked lapel/skirt with vertical bindings, and standard vest/horizontal-seam skirt. In conclusion, this study reveals that different items and pieces of school uniforms can be combined in many different ways to create quite diverse looks. Thus, this study provides important basic data for research on teenagers' fashion and clothing.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of perceived medical service quality by outpatient on hospital image, satisfaction, and re-use intention in a general hospital. A total of 176 questionnaires were administered to outpatients who presented to a S general hospital in Daejeon. The results of this study are as follows. First, medical service quality had significant effects on re-use intention, satisfaction, and hospital image. Second, the mediating effect of satisfaction on the relationship between medical service quality and re-use intention was not significant but the mediating effect of hospital image on the relationship was significant. Third, satisfaction and hospital image had significant effects on re-use intention. Consequently, this study verified the influence of perceived medical service quality by outpatient on hospital image, satisfaction, and re-use intention in a general hospital. Further, considering that hospital image, rather than satisfaction, mediates the relationship between perceived medical service quality and re-use intention, it suggests that much more general satisfaction is required in the marketing activities of hospitals.
Purpose - This study presents the relationships between parent brand-self image congruence, parent brand -functional congruity, perceived fit between parent brand and extension product, and consumer's attitude toward extension product using the structural equation model. As for preceding concepts having a direct effect on consumer's attitude toward brand extension, the study focuses on parent brand-self image congruence and parent brand-functional congruity. It also looks at the effect of parent brand-self image congruence and parent brand-functional congruity on the consumer's attitude toward extension product and identifies if the perceived fit between parent brand and extension product is a concept playing a mediating role between parent brand-self image congruence or parent brand-functional congruity and consumer's attitude toward brand extension product. Research design, data, and Methodology - SPSS for Windows 18.0 and AMOS 18.0 were used for data analysis. Then, the Cronbach's α coefficient was obtained using SPSS for Windows 18.0 to measure reliability. In addition, the convergence and discriminative measures of the measured items were statistically verified using AMOS 18.0. Finally, we have validated a path model and a parameter model in which brand personality-self-matched attitude toward brand extension. Results - Studies have shown that the impact of parent brand-self image consistency and parent brand-functional consistency on the attitude of extended products was positive. Perceived fit between parent brand and extension products has been shown to play a role of intermediary between parent brand-self image congruence and consumer attitudes to extended products. However, perceived fit between parent brand and extension products did not play a role as intermediary between the parent brand-functional congruity and the attitude toward the extended product. Finally, in relation to the causal relationship between parent brand-congruity (self image/functionality) and attitudes to extended products. The effect of parent brand-functional coherency on attitudes toward extended products was found to be greater in groups with higher involvement than in those with lower involvement. Conclusions - Although few studies have been done on what variables mediated when parent brand-self image consistency and parent brand-functional coherency affect consumer attitude, this paper is significant in finding whether perceived fitness between the parent brand-congruity and the extension product is mediated.
Exoticism, by definition, is 'the charm of the unfamiliar', usually because of associations with a distant country. In the western-centric world, exoticism implies non-western or oriental style. The purpose of this study was to identify Koreans' perception of "Exoticism", and to compare the perception of exotic fashion image according to gender and education differences. Empirical study was composed of two parts focusing on gender and education effects respectively. For the first part, data were collected by self-administered questionnaires distributed to 280 respondents at 2 universities and 2 high schools during August and September 2005. The sample was consisted of 140 male and 140 female. A measurement, including 24 image adjectives to evaluate 16 fashion stimuli, was developed. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, correlations, t-test, and MDS. There was no difference in the perception of exotic fashion image according to gender. Both gender groups perceived exotic image as western image and non-exotic image as oriental image. Thus it could be said that Koreans perceive western-based fashion as foreign and exotic. This finding implies the relativity of "Exoticism." In the second part, the measurement and the analysis methods were the same with the first part. The respondents were consisted of 70 fashion majored female students and 70 non-fashion majored female students. There was considerable difference between fashion and non-fashion major groups in their perception of exotic fashion image. Whereas non-fashion major group perceived exotic image as western image and non-exotic image as oriental image, fashion major group perceived exotic image as both western and oriental image. This result suggested that fashion major group have western-centered conception as well as general perception character of Korean.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the degree of obesity and dietary self-efficacy scale and to identify factors that affect obesity in upper-grade elementary school students. Methods: A total of 458 fifth to sixth grade elementary school students in Seoul and Chuncheon city, and rural areas of Gangwon Province, were included in this study. The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2$-test, t-test, ANOVA, and logistic regression. Results: The results revealed significant differences in the obesity region, perceived body image, experience of weight loss, family member of mother's age, mother's job and father's job between 'not obesity group' and 'obesity group'. The logistic regression analysis revealed that obesity was related with gender, region, and perceived body image. Conclusion: Gender, region, and perceived body image showed a relationship with obesity in upper-grade elementary school students. Thus, to develop obesity management program for upper grade elementary school students, we should be considered the gender, region, and perceived body image should be considered.
This study investigated the effect of offering eco-friendly fashion items on consumers' perceived image of stores and their intention to purchase food in a hybrid cafe setting. The data were collected using an online survey of 465 adults aged 20 to 49 years. In order to compare 'a general cafe' where only food is sold and 'a hybrid cafe' which offers eco-friendly fashion items as well as food, we developed two store types (general×hybrid) with two store designs (modern×eco-friendly) as stimuli, resulting in four scenarios. The results indicated that offering eco-friendly fashion items at a cafe did not significantly affect consumers' perceived eco-friendly image of the store. Further, this negatively affected consumers' perceived healthy and tasty images of the store and intention to purchase food. Such negative effects on the healthy and tasty images of the store increased in the store with a modern design. In conclusion, offering eco-friendly fashion items at cafes may not contribute to enhancing the stores' images or sales.
Purpose - The purpose of this study is to determine consumers' awareness of hygiene and the perceived risks in the service areas of coffee shops and diners, or simply coffee shops. Research design, data, and methodology - A literature review was conducted on related publications, essays, and periodicals to find correlations among the variables. We developed a research model and hypothesis, and conducted empirical research for statistical data analysis. Results - The results satisfied adequacy standards, with GFI=0.926, AGFI=0.901, RMR=0.020, NFI=0.941, X2=403.197, and p-value=0.120. The results also displayed satisfied adequacy standards for the moderating effects of shop types, with GFI=0.998 (≥0.9 desirable), AGFI=0.998 (≥0.9 desirable), RMR=0.004 (≤0.05 desirable), NFI=0.999 (≥0.9 desirable), X2=1.572, and p-value=0.814 (≥0.05 desirable). Conclusions - A higher consumer hygienic awareness results in a better brand image. Moreover, greater perceived risk results in a worse brand image. Perceived risk is a vital determinant of brand image and it deeply influences customers' decisions to visit. Therefore, perceived risk is a vital determinant of forming a brand image and must be incorporated when devising strategies.
Purpose - This paper tried to identify the impact of electronic word of mouth (eWOM) on purchase intention (PI) of Korean-brand cars in the context of Russian consumers, taking into consideration the credibility, quality, and quantity of eWOM while also considering the mediation effects of brand image (BI) and perceived quality (PQ). Although there is a considerable number of studies discussing the impact of eWOM determinants on PI, not many studies were conducted focusing on the Russian market. Design/methodology - This paper is considered to fill this gap between eWOM and (PI) and, in order to do so, 211 Russian respondents were randomly selected. Descriptive analysis, factor, and reliability analysis were conducted using SPSS version 22.0. While structural equation modeling was conducted using AMOS version 24.0. Findings - The results display that, in terms of Russian consumers' perception, eWOM credibility, quality, and quantity for Korean-brand cars show a substantial impact on PI. The mediation effects of brand image, as well as perceived quality, were also supported by analysis. In the final part of the paper, theoretical and managerial implications alongside limitations with further research suggestions are presented. Originality/value - This study endeavored to explore the degree of impact of eWOM and mediating roles of BI and PQ on Russian customer intentions to buy Korean-brand cars.
The main attractant of portable multimedia player(PMP), is often their versatility : being able to load and play different formats of video, audio, digital images, and interactive media. In this paper, we investigate the factors influencing the usage the PMP, based on the extended version of the Technology Acceptance Model. Using the data collected from online survey, we show that perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and perceived enjoyment are the major determinants for using PMP. Factors, including ubiquitousness, community, and image are shown to directly or indirectly determine the level of perceived usefulness and ease of uses. In addition, we classify PMP users into two groups, users seeking hedonic value and utilitarian value, and examine the differences in path coefficients. Properties of the causal paths, including standardized path coefficients, the significance of difference, in the hypothesized model, are also presented, so that we can investigate the relative influences of different dominants, demonstrating how two groups differ in their decision-making processes regarding the PMP usage.
One of the biggest change in the distributive market recently is that the development of private brand is progress actively since consumers purchasing behavior is tend to shift to resonable and practical planned purchase from brand image or brand name. Once the development of private brands is done successfully, the independent merchandising distinguished from other distribution companies is established, store image through customer satisfaction is strengthen and volume of sales and profit are increased. However, the existing studies in this field have not dealt with this matter systematically. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to propose an integrated framework within which to view private brand proneness. Factors found to influence private brand proneness included perceived cost, with private brand, perceived value for money, store fame, perceived risk, perceived quality variation between national and private brand products. Foe empirical analysis, the data were collected from 211 consumers who purchased the private brands in discount store and department store. With the collected survey data, reliability test, factor analysis for validity test and regression analysis for hypotheses test were conducted. Most hypotheses were accepted but on hypotheses were rejected negative relation of perceived cost and private brand proneness. Research results indicate that private brand proneness is affected by perceived value, perceived fame and there are negative relation between private brand proneness and perceived quality variation.
