강제대류에서 펠티에 소자를 이용한 내부터널 구조를 가지는 히트싱크에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Heat Sink with internal structure using Peltier Module in the Forced Convection)

  • 전자 장비에서 발생하는 열은 장비의 성능을 저하시킨다. 이러한 장비의 열을 외부로 방출하기 위한 방법으로 히트싱크가 사용된다. 본 연구에서는 내부터널의 형상을 가지는 히트싱크에 대한 냉각 및 히팅성능을 강제대류 상태에서 열전달 특성에 대하여 고찰하였다. 또한, 시간에 따른 히트싱크의 열전달 특성 및 온도분포의 변화에 따른 실험을 수행하였다. 냉각실험에서 전압이 10V일 때, A형상이 B형상 보다 온도가 낮게 나타났고, 가장 좋은 냉각효과를 나타내었다. 히팅실험에서 전압이 13V일 때, 온도가 A형상이 B형상 보다 높게 나타났고, A형상이 효율이 더 좋은 것으로 판단된다.

광분광기의 노이즈 감소를 위한 암전류에 대한 실험적 고찰 (Experimental Study on Dark Current Noise to Reduce Background Voltage Level of Optical Emission Spectroscopy)

  • As semiconductor devices become highly integrated and process difficulty increases, the need for highly sensitive sensors that can detect micro leaks is increasing. However, the noise contained in the CCD sensor itself acts as an obstacle to detecting fine leaks. In this study, integration time was changed for each condition, the sensor was cooled to 0℃, and the dark voltage level was measured to confirm through experiment the characteristics of the temporal noise included in the CCD sensor, a component of OES (Optical Emission Spectroscopy). When integration time was reduced from 30msec to 10msec, the dark voltage level decreased by about 20.5 % from an average of 151.5mV to 120.5mV. In the case of cooling device, Peltier elements were selected because of their simple structure and small size. During temperature cooling, the target temperature was controlled to within ±0.5℃ through PID control. When cooled from 20℃ to 0℃ using this cooling device, it was confirmed that the dark voltage level decreased by about 7% from an average of 147.0mV to 137.0mV.

급속냉각·가열장치에 따른 사출성형품의 휨에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Warpage of Injection Molded Parts for the rapid Cooling and Heating Device)

  • 플라스틱 제품의 휨을 개선하기 위한 방법은 사출성형 공정에서 일어나는 불균일한 냉각을 균일하게 만들어 플라스틱 제품의 잔류응력을 제거하는 방법이다. 본 연구는 균일한 냉각을 위하여 펠티에 소자를 사용하여 급속가열 냉각 장치를 개발하였다. 급속냉각 가열 장치(RCHD)를 제작하여 전통적인 수냉 장치(TWCD)방식과 급속냉각 가열 장치방식에 따른 휨을 비교 분석하였고, 비결정성 수지인 ABS 수지를 사용하였다. 사출성형 조건인 보압시간, 금형온도, 냉각시간, 보압에 따라 휨의 변화량을 측정 비교하였고, 비결정성 ABS 수지에서 급속가열 냉각 장치 냉각방식이 전통적인 수냉방식 보다 휨이 더 적게 발생하고, 위의 결과들로 보아 조금 더 균일하게 냉각되는 것을 알 수 있었다. ABS 폴리머의 분포 상태를 SEM 사진을 통해서 확인하였다. 전통적인 수냉방식은 폴리머의 분포상태가 조밀하게 분포되어 있고, 급속냉각 가열 방식은 전통적인 수냉방식 보다 넓게 분포되어 있었다. 이것은 냉각이 균일하게 이루어지고, 금형의 온도가 서서히 진행되면서 폴리머의 입자가 커지게 되는데, 이것은 내부응력이 줄어든 것을 의미한다.

전자 소자를 이용한 연소열 측정 (Measurement of Calorific Value Using Flame Calorimeter)

  • Calorific value of mixed gas, like liquefied natural gas (LNG), is strongly depends on its compositions which are affected by the mining place and producing time. The variation in calorific value have an direct influence on the combustion characteristics and performances of boiler, burner, vehicle, power plants etc. Thus, developing experimental method to measure exact calorific value is becoming an issue in the related industrial fields. Flame calorimeter is developed to get calorific value at the dynamic equilibrium state using electric substitution method. Refrigerant-11 carries heat from combustor and/or heater to the Peltier elements which pumped it out to the cooling water. It is found out that error in the measured calorific value of methane is 2.86% compared with the theoretical one. Developed design technique and the experimental data will be applied to design the national standard gas calorific value measuring apparatus.

Temperature Controllable HPLC Column for Preparative Fractionation of Polymers

  • An HPLC column with a self-contained temperature control device was constructed for preparative temperature programmed interaction chromatography. Two Peltier plates were attached to a large bore column ($120{\times}22\;mm$ i.d.) and the column temperature was controlled by PID mode feed back control. At a flow rate of 1.5 mL/min, the column temperature could be increased and decreased at a rate as high as $50^{\circ}C/min$ and $10^{\circ}C/min$, respectively, which is much faster than using a column jacket and bath/circulator. The rapid heating and cooling rates allows a high repetition rate of chromatographic fractionation. The performance of the temperature controllable column was demonstrated successfully by the fractionation of homo-polymer precursors from diblock copolymers.

  • This paper presents the effects of thermoelectric module arrangement on the cooling performance of an air conditioner using thermoelectric module. A prototype of air cooling system, employing several thermoelectric modules, has been designed and built. The evaporative cooling technique is adopted for hot side of the module. The number of thermoelectric module in the system has been varied in the range of $2{\sim}8$. The optimal operation conditions, such as input power to the thermoelectric module, fans and pump, have been determined for each arrangement of the system and the cooling performance has been compared under the optimal operation. It is found that both cooling capacity and COP are increased as the number of thermoelectric module increased. It is also found that cooling capacity can be improved by connecting the thermoelectric modules in series than in parallel, while the COP is little affected.

열전냉동기용 열전요소의 최적화 (Optimization of Thermoelectric Elements for Thermoelectric Coolers)

  • A theoretical investigation to optimize thermoelectric elements for thermoelectric coolers was performed using a new one-dimensional analytic model. Mathematical expressions for the optimum current and the optimum length of a thermoelectric element, which maximize the coefficient of performance of thermoelectric coolers, were obtained. The optimum current is expressed in terms of the cooling load for a thermoelectric element, the hot and cold side temperatures and thermoelectric properties, but not the length of a thermoelectric element. The optimum current is proportional to the cooling load and decreases as the temperature difference between the hot and cold sides decreases. It is also shown that the optimum length of a thermoelectric element decreases as the cooling load increases.

  • This study is concerned with air-conditioning system in use of thermoelectric device. It is introduced that the well designed structures for better cooling & heating performance with high efficiency. And also it is performed that the system performance test of four types trial products for the use of hybrid commercial vehicle. System performance is affected by many component parts, especially heat sink design & power control method. It is applied that dual extrusive fin tube with buffer zone for the effective radiating of circulating liquid in tube. And also it is applied that power supply method with constant-current system. It is attained that system cooling capacity is 1.2kW, COP is 0.95.

Fundamental Study on the Probability of Oyster Shell Desiccant Cooling System Driven by Renewable Energy of Photo-Voltaic Effect

  • This paper has dealt with the probability of oyster shell desiccant cooling system driven by renewable energy of photo-volatic effect with fundamental experiment. The test materials for desiccant are activated charcoal, silica-gel, hi-dry, and oyster shell. The experiments were mainly performed with focusing on the observation of surface features, adsorption amounts of the adsorbent species, and the effect of temperature. Oyster shell has sufficient probability for using as desiccant in a air-conditioning system. Moreover, the heat releasing device would be attached in the system, the system based with oyster shell can be operated with high efficiency.

  • This paper presents development of an special metal hydride(SMH) actuator system using a peltier module. The newly developed simple SMH actuator, consisting of the plated hydrogen-absorbing alloy as a power source, Peltier elements as a heat source and a cylinder with metal bellows as a functioning part, has been developed. The SMH actuator is characterized by its small size, low weight, noiseless operation and a compliance similar to that of human body. A new SMH actuator that uses reversible reactions between the heat energy and mechanical energy of a hydrogen absorbing alloy. It is well known that hydrogen-absorbing alloys can reversibly absorb and desorb a large amount of hydrogen, more than about 1000 times of their own volume. To improve the thermal conductivity of the hydrogen-absorbing alloy, an electro-less copper plating has been carried out. For this purpose, the effects of the electro-less copper plating and the dynamic characteristics of the SMH actuator have been studied. The hydrogen equilibrium pressure increases and hydrogen is desorbed by heating the hydrogen-absorbing alloys, whereas by cooling the alloys, the hydrogen equilibrium pressure decreases and hydrogen is absorbed. The SMH actuator has the characteristic of being light and easy to use. Therefore, it is suitable for medical and rehabilitation applications.
