Young children facilitate their social and emotional development by doing a lot of play activities with their peers. As an empirical survey study, this study is aimed at analyzing how the peer play interaction influences peer competency and self-regulation. To achieve that, a questionnaire survey was conducted with 271 young children aged 5 years who were going to the kindergarten in the G district of Seoul. With the data collected in the survey, frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, reliability test, correlation analysis and regression analysis were conducted by SPSS program. The analysis results are presented as follows: firstly, peer play interaction positively influenced young children's sociability, pro-sociality, and leadership as their peer competency factors; secondly, peer play interaction positively influenced their patience, endurance of waiting, and adaptation as their self-regulation factors. This study drew the conclusion that peer play interaction is a critical variable to predict young children's peer competency and self-regulation. Therefore, it will be necessary to continuously develop a variety of play activity programs which young children can join in the inside and outside of kindergarten in order to helps young children improve their peer competency and self-regulation, and to actively connect the programs with Nuri curriculum.

The summary of this study are as follows; First, the more negative expressivity was shown as mother's academic career was higher and the more positive one was appeared as family income was greater according to the background of socio-demography. Female children showed the higher self-regulation, and the self-decision and action control were greater as their age was higher. Children's peer competency was higher as they were social and friendly personality. Objectives : This study analyzed the concordance between student self-assessment and peer-evaluation in a role play using the Clinical Performance Examination (CPX) scenario developed based on Korean medical syndrome differentiation. Methods : The subjects of this study are first-year-students majoring in Korean Medicine. The role play based on clinical case was performed in the class of Korean Medicine Classics. Feedback on clinical skill competency got through student self-assessment and peer-evaluation, and this study was compared and analyzed of result. Results : A simple comparison of the results of self-assessment and peer-evaluation in the evaluation results of clinical skill competency may appear to be consistent. However, it was not statistically significant. It is necessary to enhance the discriminative ability in the evaluation of clinical skill competency. It will be possible to improve a bit by relatively increasing the weight of the scores on the items that students expect to respond differently among the evaluation items. In addition, in order to dramatically improve the systemicity and reliability of the evaluation of clinical skill competency itself, it is necessary to introduce the Introduction to Clinical Traditional Korean Medicine (ICTKM) course. Conclusions : Student's self-assessment and peer-evaluation as feedback on clinical skill competency are suitable for the purpose of education and training. However, the reliability of the evaluation was not statistically significant.

Core fundamental nursing skills competency showed statistical differences based on gender, major satisfaction, practice satisfaction, pre-learning and satisfaction with the peer evaluation. Core fundamental nursing skills competency was positively correlated with learning attitude(r=.295, p<.001), critical thinking was positively correlated with core fundamental nursing skills competency(r=.384, p<.001) and learning attitude(r=.623, p<.001), and finally, self-leadership was positively correlated with core fundamental nursing skills competency(r=.353, p<.001), learning attitude(r=.529, p<.001) and critical thinking(r=.690, p<.001). Purpose: This study was done to identify fundamental data on competency reinforcement programs to prevent adolescent risk behavior by developing and examining a competency model. Methods: In this study, competences on prevention of adolescent risk behavior were identified through competency modeling, and a competency model was developed and tested for validity. Results: Competences for prevention of adolescent risk behavior defined by the competency model included the following: self-control, positive mutual understanding between parents and adolescents, and positive connectedness with peer group. Validation of the competency model showed the model to be appropriate. Conclusion: The competency model for prevention of adolescent risk behavior through competency modeling is expected to be the foundation of an integral approach to enhance competency in adolescents and prevent adolescent risk behavior. This kind of approach can be a school-centered, cost-efficient strategy, which not only reduces adolescent risk behavior but also improves quality of adolescent resources.
The purpose of this study is to explore the growth and development process of peer counselors in the field of disability. The field experiences of 19 peer counselors with disabilities and peer counselors who parents of children with disabilities were analyzed using the grounded theory method. As a result, first, central phenomenon were 'assuming the role of a peer counselor' and 'motor of role performance'. Intervening conditions were 'the perception that counseling is difficult', 'self-consciousness deriving from the lack of competency' and 'the status of insufficient peer counseling'. Action/interaction strategies were 'strengthening inner capacities' and 'promoting external activities'. Consequences were 'change and growth as a peer counselor', 'an expansion of activities other than peer counseling', and 'propose development tasks for peer counseling'. Second, their growth and development process was confirmed in four stages: 'the stage of introductory counseling education beyond disability', 'the stage of growth through change', 'the stage of career exploration through Competency Enhancement', and 'the stage of entry through role challenge'. Third, main theme was 'growth and development as a peer counselor is based on capacity building'.
This study firstly focused on development of an after-school program for school-aged children, and secondarily exploring the relationship between the after-school program and social competency of school-aged children. The program was composed of 10 two-hour sessions. The main goal of the program was to instill a sense of self-acknowledge, self-worth, responsibility and belonging to society and social activities. The subjects of this study were 29 children of first, second and third glades at the elementary schools in Seoul. This program was administered from March to May 1999. The data were analysed by frequency, mean, and paired t-test using the SAS program package. The major findings of this study were summarized as follows; There were significant differences in the degrees of social competency between before and after participating in the program(t=1,92 p<.05). The after-school program for school-aged children affect social competency variable as ‘initiative’(t=3,52 p<.001), but do not affect ‘sociability’, ‘responsibility’or ‘self-disclosure’. These results lead us to conclude that an after-school program of this type would be useful for developing peer-interation and for later social competency.
