  • 2008년 우리나라 휴대폰 가입자는 4500만 명을 넘어서 1인 1휴대전화 시대에 돌입했다. 그래서 휴대폰을 이용하여 건강을 체크한다면 현대인들의 식습관, 만성질병, 생활습관이 개선될 전망이다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 건강관리 서버는 사람들의 건강을 손쉽게 체크하여 미리 병을 예방하고 건강관리를 할 수 있도록 설계 되었으며, 휴대폰에 적용된 가속도 센서를 이용하여 걸음 수, 이동속도, 이동 거리 등의 사용자 운동량 정보를 파악 할 수 있다. 휴대폰에서 수집된 운동량 정보를 바탕으로 건강정보를 관리하므로, 사용자가 별도의 건강기기를 소지하지 않아도 손쉽게 웰빙을 추구할 수 있다.

  • 본 논문은 안드로이드 플랫폼의 내장 센서 중 만보기 기능을 구현할 수 있는 걸음 횟수 센서(Step Counter Sensor)와 걸음 감지 센서(Step Detector Sensor), GPS 센서, Google Map API, 공공 데이터 포털 Open API를 활용하여 국내 여행지 및 국내 지역 축제 정보를 제공하는 애플리케이션을 설계하고 구현한다. 이 애플리케이션은 특정 걸음 수를 달성했을 때 국내 여행지를 무작위로 추천하여 추천 지역까지의 걸음 수를 카운트하는 방식으로 사용자에게 목표를 부여하고, 추천 국내 여행지 방문 및 축제 참여 기회와 성취감을 얻도록 한다.

스마트폰 vs 웨어러블, 실제 걸음 수 산출을 위한 보정계수의 발견 - 두 기기의 In-situ 활용 행태 비교를 바탕으로 - (Smartphone vs Wearable, Finding the Correction Factor for the Actual Step Count - Based on the In-situ User Behavior of the Two Devices -)

  • 최근 모바일 헬스케어 서비스에서 걸음 수를 활용한 건강 관리가 보편화되고 있다. 또한 다양한 액티비티 트래커를 통해 더 정확하고 간편하게 걸음 수를 측정할 수 있게 되었다. 그럼에도, 액티비티 트래커가 대중화 되지 못하고 스마트폰의 페도미터 센서를 대체 활용하는 추세이다. 그래서 본 연구에서 실제 걸음 수 대비 스마트폰이 수집한 걸음 수가 실제 얼마나 차이가 나는지, 어떤 요인이 차이를 만드는지 밝히고자 하였다. 이를 위해 21명을 대상으로 7일간 스마트폰과 웨어러블 디바이스를 동시 활용한 걸음 수를 수집 하는 실험을 시행하였다. 그 결과, 웨어러블 대비, 스마트폰이 평균 62%의 걸음 수를 측정하는 것과 사용자별 편차가 큰 것을 발견하였다. 또한, 스마트폰 휴대 자각 정도가 높을수록 스마트폰의 측정 정확도가 높아지는 회귀모형을 도출하였다. 이를 통해 스마트폰 단독으로 걸음 수를 활용하는 헬스케어 서비스에서 실제 걸음 수와의 차이를 보정하는 계수로 활용할 수 있으리라 기대한다.

Development of Livestock Monitoring Device based on Biosensors for Preventing Livestock Diseases

  • Outbreaks of highly contagious livestock diseases can cause direct and indirect economic impacts such as lower productivity of cattle farms, fall in tourism in damaged areas and countries, and decline in exports. They also incur tremendous social costs associated with disease elimination and restoration work. Thus, it is essential to prevent livestock diseases through monitoring and prediction efforts. Currently, however, it is still difficult to provide accurate predictive information regarding occurrences of livestock diseases, because existing cattle health monitoring or forecasting systems are only limited to monitor environmental conditions of livestock barns and check activities of cattle by using a pedometer or thermal image. In this paper, we present a biosensor-based cattle health monitoring system capable of collecting bio-signals of farm animals in an effective way. For the presented monitoring system, we design an integrated monitoring device consisting of a sensing module to measure bio-signals of cattle such as the heartbeat, the breath rate and the momentum, as well as a Zigbee module designed to transmit the biometric data based on Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). We verify the validity of the monitoring system by the comparison of the correlations of designed device with a commercial ECG equipment through analyzing the R-peak of measured signals.

빠르게 걷기 운동이 과체중 태음인 대학생의 피로, 혈중지질 및 신체조성에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Power Walking Exercise on Fatigue, Blood Lipids, and Body Composition in Overweight Korean College Students with Taeumin Constitution)

  • Purpose: To examine the effects of power walking exercise on fatigue and overweight in college students with Taeumin constitution. Methods: According to results of the constitution diagnosis (QSCC II), 58 students who were identified as Taeumin, whose BMI was over 23 were assigned to one of three groups. The power walking group walked fast at a speed of 7,000 steps per hour using a pedometer, and the walking group walked at a speed of 5,000 steps per hour. There was no treatment with control group. Each group's fatigue level, blood lipids and body composition before and after the experiment were compared and analyzed. Results: Total fatigue and total cholesterol decreased significantly in the power walking group compared to the walking group and the control group. Weight decreased significantly in the power walking group compared to the control group, and percentage of body fat decreased significantly in both the power walking group and the walking group compared to the control group. Conclusion: When power walking exercise was used with overweight Taeumin students, fatigue, blood lipid, weight and percentage of body fat decreased significantly.

  • The GPS can provide accurate position information on the earth. But GPS receiver can't give position information inside buildings. DR(Dead-Reckoning) or INS(Inertial Navigation System) gives position information continuously indoors as well as outdoors, because they do not depend on the external navigation information. But in general, the inertial sensors severely suffer from their drift errors, the error of these navigation system increases with time. GPS and DR sensors can be integrated together with Kalman filter to overcome these problems. In this paper, we developed a personal navigation system which can be carried by person, using GPS and electronic pedometer. The person's footstep is detected by an accelerometer installed in vertical direction and the direction of movement is sensed by gyroscope and magnetic compass. In this case the step size is varying with person and changing with circumstance, so determining step size is the problem. In order to calculate the step size of detected footstep, the neural network method is used. The teaming pattern of the neural network is determined by human walking pattern data provided by 3-axis accelerometer and gyroscope. We can calculate person's location with displacement and heading from this information. And this neural network method that calculates step size gives more improved position information better than fixed step size.

남성과 여성 사무직 근로자의 신체활동에 미치는 영향요인 비교 (A Study on Gender Differences in Influencing Factors of Office Workers' Physical Activity)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine gender differences in effects of self-efficacy, exercise benefits and barriers, and demographic factors on the physical activity. Methods: Seventy sedentary office workers, 35 male and 35 female, from a major airline company, completed a questionnaire from March 28 to April 5, 2012. Steps and body mass indices were measured using a CW-700/701 (Yamax) pedometer and Inbody 720 (Biospace), respectively. Data were analyzed using t-test, $x^2$-test, multiple linear regression, and simultaneous quantile regression. Results: For male workers, exercise self-efficacy had a significant effect on physical activity, but only when respondents were at 10%(3,431 steps/day, p=.018) and 25%(4,652 steps/day, p=.044) of the physical activity distribution. For female workers, marital status was significantly related to physical activity, but only when respondents were at 10% (3,537 steps/day, p=.013) and 25%(3,862 steps/day, p=.014) of the physical activity distribution. Conclusion: Quantile regression highlights the heterogeneous effect of physical activity determinants among office workers. Therefore intervention strategies for increasing physical activity should be tailed to genders as well as physical activity levels.

운동에 영향을 끼치는 피트니스 앱 요인 연구 (What Makes People Walk Using a Fitness App?)

  • Purpose An increase in the number of fitness apps across the world is a testament to the growing interest in health. As focus on medical services shifted from treatment to prevention, this type of app plays an essential role in promoting one's health and exercise management. Yet little has been known about practical effects of fitness apps in existing literature thus this study searches for factors that affect daily use of fitness apps and examine the relationship between app usage and exercise patterns. Design/methodology/approach This study surveyed people who used Cashwalk, the pedometer app for a minimum of a week to analyze reasons why they used the app. Particpants' exercise patterns were also recorded. By examining survey results of fitness app users and developing a research model based on the Customer Value Theory, this study provides real-life factors to the fitness and smart health care industry that will adopt a proactive lifestyle pattern. Findings Empirical analysis proved properties such as the complexity of fitness apps, monetary rewards, exercise monitoring and the enjoyment of using fitness apps contribute to using fitness apps on a daily basis. Furthermore, more daily use of fitness apps was shown to have a greater impact on exercise. This study also confirmed that social comparison does not affect the daily use of fitness apps and the amount of exercise, and the habitual walking was proved to directly affect the amount of exercise.

스마트폰 앱과 자가보고식 설문지의 신체활동 측정 비교 (A Comparative Study on Measurement of Physical Activity between Smartphone App and Self-Reported Questionnaire)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the level of agreement between smartphone apps and self-reported physical activity questionnaires. Methods: Quantitative methods were used to assess the correlation and agreement between the number of steps counted by a smartphone app and the amount of walking reported in a survey. A total of 29 adults who used smartphones were recruited from a university, and their step counts from their smartphone pedometers and responses to the international physical activity questionnaire (IPAQ) were collected over a 10-week period. Results: An analysis of 170 data pairs with Spearman's rho correlation and a Bland-Altman plot revealed a positive correlation between step counts from the smartphone app and walking activity from the IPAQ. The Bland-Altman plot also demonstrated the agreement to be improved among female participants. Conclusion: In assessing walking activity, smartphone pedometer apps showed good correlation with the IPAQ and improved agreement with the IPAQ among women. Therefore, it is suggested that the participants' gender and activity intensity, as well as the accuracy of measurement tools, should be considered in an evaluation of the delivery of physical activity promotion programs through smartphone apps.

초등학생의 일상적 신체활동 측정 도구 개발을 위한 예비조사 (Developing an Instrument to Evaluate Habitual Physical Activity Level of Elementary School-aged Children in Large Populations: A Preliminary Study)

  • 목적: 본 연구는 초등학생의 신체활동 정도를 사정할 수 있는 도구를 개발하기 위한 탐색적 연구이다. 방법: 본 연구는 도구개발과정과 예비조사(preliminary study)로 구분되어 있다. 신체활동의 구성요인 규명, 초기문항 작성, 내용타당도 검증, 최종도구 고안, 문항분석, 신뢰도 및 타당도 분석을 통해 총 41문항의 자가 보고식 설문지를 개발하였다. 예비조사는 서울시 소재 국공립 초등학교에 재학중인 초등학생 총 28명을 대상으로 이루어졌고 만보계와 Borg's scale을 이용하여 동시타당도 검증을 실시하였다. 결과: 예비조사 결과, 개발된 도구는 높은 내적 일관성을 보였고(cronbach's alpha=.89), 준거타당도를 위한 준거지표와의 Spearman correlation coefficient analysis에서는 만보계에 의해 측정된 도보수 (r=.69, p<.001)와 주관적 운동강도를 측정한 Borg's scale 점수(r=.76, p<.001)와 각각 양의 상관관계를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 결론: 본 연구에서 개발된 도구는 초등학생의 신체활동 종류, 빈도, 강도 및 시간을 측정할 수 있도록 구성된 자가보고식 형태로 초등학생의 일상적인 신체활동을 측정할 수 있는 도구로 평가되었다. 비록 신체활동을 객관적으로 측정한 도구는 아니지만 신체활동 정도를 파악하기 위해 대규모 대상자에게 적용할 수 있는 실용적인 도구가 될 수 있을 것이다.
