To evaluate the acute effects of fine particles on pulmonary function, a longitudinal study was conducted. This study was carried out for the schoolchildren (3rd and 6th grades) living in Beijing, China. Children were asked to record their daily levels of peak expiratory flow rate using portable peak flow meter (mini-Wright) for 40 days. The relationship between daily PEFR and fine particle levels was analyzed using a mixed linear regression models including gender, height, the presence of respiratory symptoms, and daily average temperature and relative humidity as extraneous variables. The total number of students participating in this longitudinal study was 87. Daily measured PEFR was in the range of $253{\sim}501L/min$. On the daily basis, a PEFR measured in the morning was shown to be lower than that measured in the evening (or afternoon). The daily mean concentrations of $PM_{10}$ and $PM_{2.5}$ over the study period were $180.2\;{\mu}g/m^3$ and $103.2\;{\mu}g/m^3$, respectively. The IQR (inter-quartile range) of $PM_{10}$ and $PM_{2.5}$ were $91.8\;{\mu}g/m^3$ and $58.0\;{\mu}g/m^3$. Daily mean PEFR was regressed with the 24-hour average $PM_{10}$ (or $PM_{2.5}$) levels, weather information such as air temperature and relative humidity, and individual characteristics including gender, height, and respiratory symptoms. The analysis showed that the increase of fine particle concentrations was negatively associated with the variability in PEFR. The IQR increments of $PM_{10}$ or $PM_{2.5}$ (at 1-day time lag) were also shown to be related with 1.54L/min (95% Confidence intervals -2.14, -0.94) and 1.56L/min (95% CI -2.16, -0.95) decline in PEFR.

In the low level radioactivity measurement, such as environmental radioactivity, there were used commonly cylindrical and Marinelli type beakers by means of measurement container. If there are differences in the matrix density or sample height between standard source and sample, it must be determined full energy peak efficiency considering self absorption effect. In this paper, we compared measured efficiency with calculated full energy peak efficiencies in the HPGe detector using the Monte Carlo method. For cylindrical container, we calculated the variation of the efficiency with sample height. Also, we calculated the variation of the detection efficiency with apparent density in the cylindrical and Marinelli container. It was seen that it need to be corrected for self absorption in the energy range of below 1000keV. Also, in order to verify the validity of calculation, we compared the calculated value with reference value using NIST SRM 4353 reference soil.

The traditional cuff-based method for BP(Blood Pressure) measurement is not suitable for continuous real-time BP measurement techniques. For this reason, the previous studies estimated various blood pressures by fusion with the electrocardiography (ECG) and photoplethysmogram (PPG) sensor signals. However, conventional techniques based on PPG bio-sensing measurement face many challenging issues such as noisy supply fluctuation, small pulsation, and drifting non-pulsatile. This paper proposed a novel BP estimation methods using PPG and ECG sensors, which can be derived from the relationship between PPG and ECG using PTT(Pulse Transit Time) and PWV(Pulse Wave Velocity). Unlike conventional height ratio features, which are extracted on the basis of the peaks in the PPG and ECG waveform. The proposed method can be reliably obtained even if there are missing peaks among the sensed PPG signal. The increased reliability comes from periodical estimation of the peak-to-peak interval time using ECG and PPG. After 250,000 times trials of the blood pressure measurement, the proposed estimation technique was verified with the accuracy of ±28.5% error, compared to a commercialized BP device.
We have theoretically investigated torque curve shapes of simple uniaxial magnetic materials by considering conditions for round peaks to exist. These conditions are functions of an applied field, anisotropy field, ans lowest critical field $h_0$ for a domain wall to move or nucleate. The peak having a height of 2h appears when h is lower than h$_1$, the peak having a height of 1 appears when h is higher than h$_2$, ans two peaks having heights of 1 and -1 appear when h is higher than h$_3$. It was found that torque curves of simple uniaxial magnetic materials could be classified into 8 distinct types depending on the existence of hysteresis, the number of the round peaks, and the reversal mechanisms. Simple uniaxial magnetic materials also found to be classifed into the 5 groups depending on $h_0$.
Objective : The aim of this study was to develop the non-powered horse riding device and was to evaluate the elaborate its applicability throughout static structural and transient structural analysis of the outdoor core strength exercise equipment. Method : Fifteen college students (mass: $69.55{\pm}13.38kg$, height: $1.69{\pm}5.61m$, age: $21.42{\pm}1.83yrs$) rode the powered horse riding device and 14 college students (mass: $71.12{\pm}9.74kg$, height: $1.73{\pm}3.31m$, age: $22.50{\pm}1.47yrs$) rode the non-powered horse riding device for the comparison. All motion capture data was collected at 100 Hz using six infrared cameras and the muscular activities were collected using a Delsys Trigno wireless system. The peak forward/backward lean angle, range of motion anter/posterior and vertical COM(Center of mass) movement of trunk and pelvis segment, and muscle activities of six muscles were compared between the two devices by using independent t-test (p<.05). Results : Several kinematic variables (peak forward-backward lean angle and vertical COM movement of trunk and pelvis segment, range of motion of trunk) significantly different between non-powered and powered horse riding device. The muscle activities of Rectus abdominis and External oblique of abdomen on the non-powered horse riding device were significantly greater than those of the powered device. Conclusion : It was concluded that non-power horse riding device could give the effect of core strength exercise as well as the body motion which can simulate the powered horse riding device.
In this paper, 50V power U-MOSFET which replace the body(PN) diode with Schottky is proposed. As already known, Schottky diode has the advantage of reduced reverse recovery loss than PN diode. Thus, the power MOSFET with integrated Schottky integrated can minimize the reverse recovery loss. The proposed Schottky body diode U-MOSFET(SU-MOS) shows reduction of reverse recovery loss with the same transfer, output characteristic and breakdown voltage. As a result, 21.09% reduction in peak reverse current, 7.68% reduction in reverse recovery time and 35% improvement in figure of merit(FOM) are observed when the Schottky width is $0.2{\mu}m$ and the Schottky barrier height is 0.8eV compared to conventional U-MOSFET(CU-MOS). The device characteristics are analyzed through the Synopsys Sentaurus TCAD tool.
We identified four new bovine tri-nucleotide microsatellite loci and analyzed their sequence structures and genetic parameters in 105 randomly selected Korean cattle (Hanwoo). Allele numbers of the loci B17S0808, B15S6253, B8S7996, and B17S4998 were 10, 11, 12, and 29, respectively. These alleles contained a simple or compound repeat sequences with some variations. Allele distributions of all these loci were in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (P > 0.05). Observed heterozygosity and expected heterozygosity ranged from 0.54 (B15S6253) to 0.92 (B17S4998) and from 0.599 (B15S6253) to 0.968 (B17S4998), respectively, and two measures of heterozygosity at each locus were highly correlated. Polymorphism information content (PIC) for these 4 loci ranged from 0.551 (B15S6253) to 0.932 (B17S4998), which means that all these loci are highly informative (PIC > 0.5). Other genetic parameters, power of discrimination (PD) and probability of exclusion (PE) ranged from 0.783 (B15S6253) to 0.984 (B17S4998) and from 0.210 (B15S6253) to 0.782 (B17S4998), respectively. Their combined PD and PE values were 0.9999968 and 0.98005176, respectively. Capillary electrophoresis revealed that average peak height ratio for a stutter was 13.89% at B17S0808, 26.67% at B15S6253, 9.09% at B8S7996, and 43.75% at B17S4998. Although the degree of genetic variability of the locus B15S6253 was relatively low among these four microsatellite markers, their favorable parameters and low peak height ratios for stutters indicate that these four new tri-nucleotide microsatellite loci could be useful multiplex PCR markers for the forensic and population genetic studies in cattle including Korean native breed.
Rheological properties of the dough made from milled wheat products of various particle size, i.e., wheat shorts, girls and flour, and their effect on the loaf-volume potential of whole wheat bread were investigated in this study. One Korean wheat variety 'Cho-Kwang' was tested for suitability in whole wheat bread. The percent ash and protein content of the milled wheat products were 2.3% and 13.7% respectively. Ranges of 7.3, 5.6 and 4.8 mixograph peak-height were observed in Fraction 1(wheat flours), Fraction 2 (wheat girts) and Fraction 3(wheat shorts), respectively. Dought stability of Fraction 1 did not decreased appreciably as compared to that of commercial first grade baker's flour. Bread-baking test employing a standard formula showed that the wheat grits (0.2-0.5 mm in diameter) appeared to be the limit beyond which a rapid decrease in loaf-volume potential was noted. Optimum loaf volume and crumb characteristics were obtained in 80% wheat grits/20% wheat flour blend.
The changes of magnetic flux density distribution and the degree of magnetic anomaly on the ground surface by underground fracture zones and empty spaces had been investigated through the variations of the measuring heights. The magnetic flux density distributions were monitored for the ground surfaces of fracture zones, empty spaces and tunnels by fluxgate-type magnetometer. The fracture zones showed the magnetic anomaly with (+) and (-) peak-pairs in the magnetic flux distribution measured at 0.15 m height from the ground surface, and this anomaly disappeared at the height of 1.15 m. The underground empty spaces and tunnels showed the decrease of magnetic flux densities, where the degree of this density decrease diminished with the increase of the underground depth. And, the existence and size of underground empty spaces, such as tunnels and sink holes, could be monitored by the phenomena of this decreasing flux density.

The bow flare structure of a ship is designed considering wave impact loads largely caused by relative motion of the ship and wave at rough sea. Empirical design is still used because impact phenomenon and structural behaviour due to wave impact load can not examined accurately. The objective of this study is, as the first step, to predict wave impact loads giving the structural damages to the bow flare structure from the damage data inversely, using dynamic nonlinear finite element code LS/DYNA3D, and to perform various parametric studies of wave impact pressure curve for its characteristics, such as peak height, duration time, tail height, rise time, etc.. The followings were obtained from this study: Dynamic structural responses against wave impact loads are largely affected by impact pressure impulse whose amount during duration time until peak deformation is very important.
