We present a high speed pitch estimation algorithm that is based on peak detection and average magnitude difference function (AMDF). A few pitch candidates are first estimated from the low-pass filtered (800 Hz) speech by a peak detection algorithm. AMDF values of the pitch candidatestare then calculated, and the pitch candidate that yields the minimum AMDF value is chosen as the desired pitch period. The new method requires far less computation time than other pitch estimation algorithms, while it yields fairly accurate results.
In this paper, a hand-operating method (tiled test method) of the wool-blending sample is made out, and make use of the method, the test of wool-blending bundle in different blending ratio is accomplished. According to the test data, the synthesis method of the stretch curve is worked out and the synthesis software for the typical stretch curve of wool-blending bundle is designed. Through laboratory hand-operating method, the blending fasciculus applying to fiber bundle test can be obtained in a short time. Calculation for sampling is accomplished in the article. We bring up 9 new signs to describe the characteristics of the curve behind peak for the first time: elongation behind peak (HE), elongation percentage behind peak (HEP), relative elongation rate behind peak (RHE), total break work $(W_a)$, break work behind peak (HW), break work coefficient behind peak (HWC), elongation percentage of half-load behind peak (HEL), load percentage of half-elongation behind peak (HLE), break efficiency behind peak (HEC).
There have been numerous studies that extract the R-peak from electrocardiogram (ECG) signals. All of these studies can extract R-peak from ECG. However, these methods are complicated and difficult to implement in a real-time portable ECG device. After filtration choosing a threshold value for R-peak detection is a big challenge. Fixed threshold scheme is sometimes unable to detect low R-peak value and adaptive threshold sometime detect wrong R-peak for more adaptation. In this paper, a simple and robustness algorithm is proposed to detect R-peak with less complexity. This method also solves the problem of threshold value selection. Using the adaptive filter, the baseline drift can be removed from ECG signal. After filtration, an appropriate threshold value is automatically chosen by using the minimum and maximum value of an ECG signals. Then the neighborhood searching scheme is applied under threshold value to detect R-peak from ECG signals. Proposed method improves the detection and accuracy rate of R-peak detection. After R-peak detection, we calculate heart rate to know the heart condition.
Background: An inappropriate Q angle may affect the biomechanics of the canine patellofemoral joint. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of changes in quadriceps angle (Q angle) on patellofemoral joint pressure distribution in dogs. Methods: Eight stifles were positioned at 45, 60, 75, 90, 105, and 120° of flexion in vitro, and 30% body weight was applied through the quadriceps. Patellofemoral contact pressure distribution was mapped and quantified using pressure-sensitive film. For the pressure area, mean pressure, peak pressure, medial peak pressure, and lateral peak pressure, differences between groups according to conditions for changing the Q angle were statistically compared. Results: Increases of 10° of the Q angle result in increases in the pressure area (P = 0.04), mean pressure (P = 0.003), peak pressure, and medial peak pressure (P ≤ 0.01). Increasing the Q angle by 20° increases the pressure area (P = 0.021), mean pressure (P ≤ 0.001), peak pressure (P ≤ 0.01), and medial peak pressure (P ≤ 0.01) significantly, and shows higher mean (P ≤ 0.001) and peak pressures than increasing by 10°. Decreasing the Q angle increases the mean pressure (P = 0.013), peak pressure, and lateral peak pressure (P ≤ 0.001). Conclusions: Both increases and decreases in the Q angle were associated with increased peak patellofemoral pressure, which could contribute to the overloading of the cartilage. Therefore, the abnormal Q angle should be corrected to the physiologically normal value during patellar luxation repair and overcorrection should be avoided.
The changes of properties were studied for the polypropylene(PP)/Nylon6 blends containing different kinds of compatibilizer made by either reactive extrusion of solution reaction. The compatibilizers were PP grafted with maleic anhydride (MAH) made by reactive extrusion and solution reaction. The grafted MAH contents were 0.3 wt %, and 2.7 wt %, respectively. The composition of the PP/nylon6 blend was fixed at 75/25 by weight. Blending was carried out with twin-screw extruder (L/D=30, ${\psi}=30$) at 300 rpm. As the content of PP-g-MAH was increased, the crystallization peak of Nylon6 decreased gradually then finally disappeared. Disappearance of crystallization peak of Nylon6 was mostly affected by grafted MAH content rather than the preparation method and the amount of compatibilizer. The portion of Nylon6 that could not crystallize in its normal crystallization temperature crystallized together with PP at the crystallization temperature of PP. So called concurrent crystallization was observed. Meanwhile two more peaks were observed during heating cycle. One was exothermic peak at $193^{\circ}C$ near to crystallization temperature of Nylon6, the other was endothermic peak at $215^{\circ}C$ that was $5^{\circ}C$ lower than normal endothermic peak of Nylon6. To analyze the peaks, nylon6 was annealed in the differential scanning calorimeter. As a result, the peak at $193^{\circ}C$ was crystallization peak of imperfect crystalline of Nylon6 and the other peak at $215^{\circ}C$ was melting peak of imperfect crystalline of nylon6.
Capillary electrophoresis (CE) with rice proteins was used to discriminate 10 domestic rice cultivars in less than 25 min. Most cultivars were differentiated quickly and easily using P-ACN buffer system. CE of rice prolamins allowed classifying ten varieties of Korean rice into three groups. Peak h was characteristic peak for Dongjinbyeo, Gaehwabyeo and Yongnambyeo which were classified into the group of Dongjinbyeo. Chuchungbyeo, Odaebyeo, Mangeumbyeo and Bonggwangbyeo easily differentiated from the group of Dongjinbyeo by the absence of peak h which were classified into the group of Chuchungbyeo. Peak g typical for Illpumbyeo, Hwaseungbyeo and Hwayoungbyeo accounted for 70% of total peak area. They belong to the group of Illpumbyeo. Some cultivars showed specific peak patterns among ten cultivars, Illpumbyeo was differentiated from others by several peaks between peak c and peak f, and the peak d was apparently detected in Odaebyeo not in others. Other minor differences were also found within each group. The result of the study showed that CE has potential for discrimination of rice cultivars. It also possesses the inherent advantages such as low mass requirements, fast seperations, and quantitative analysis through on-capillary UV detection.

When CBR source traffics are loaded to ATM switch and broadband network termination, CTD values of ATM switch and broadband network termination are measured and then the values of CTD in the domestic region arc estimated. The estimation values of CTD satisfy the objective of CTD in the domestic region allocated by allocation rules of 1.356. The peak-to-peak CDV allocation method based On Chernoff accumulation method is proposed and applied to the nodes of national portion. From the result of numerical analysis, the proposed method is more accurate than the equal allocation method for peak -to-peak CDV in case that the CDVs at each node and the number of ATM nodes on the path increase.
In this paper, inverse building modeling was applied to building perimeter zones which have different window orientation. Two test zones of east-facing and west-facing zones in ERS(Energy Resource Station) building, which is representative of small commercial building, was used to test performance of cooling load calculation and peak cooling load reduction. The dynamic thermal load model for the east and west zone was validated using measured data for the zones and then it was used to investigate the effect of peak cooling load reduction by adjustment of indoor cooling temperature set points during on-peak time period. For the east zone, the peak load can be reduced to about 60% of the peak load for conventional control even without any precooling. For the west zone, PLR is nearly independent of the start of the on-peak period until a start time of 1pm. Furthermore, PLR has a small dependence on the precooling duration. Without any precooling, the peak cooling load can be reduced to about 35% of the peak load associated with conventional control.
In this paper, we consider the problem of robust peak-to-peak controller design of linear system. The goal is to design a controller which minimizes the maximum peak value of the measured output subjects to the peak bounded disturbance. The control is obtained by checking the feasibility of the derived matrix inequalities. Finally, we shows the usefulness of our result comparing to $H_{\infty}$ and $H_{2}$ control by an example.
This study concerns the constraints of English Poetic Meter. In English poems, the metrical pattern doesn't always match the linguistic stress on the lines. These mismatches are found differently among the poets. For the lexical stress mismatched with the weak metrical position, $*W{\Rightarrow}{\;}Strength$ is established by the concept of the strong syllable. The peaks of monosyllabic words mismatched with the weak metrical position are divided according to which side of the boundary of a phonological domain they are adjacent to. Adjacency Constraint I is suggested for the mismatched peak which is adjacent to the left boundary of a phonological domain; *Peak] and Adjacency ConstraintII for the mismatched peak which are adjacent to the right boundary of a phonological domain. These constraints are various according to the poets(Pope, Milton and Shakespeare) : *[Peak [-stress], $W{\Rightarrow}{\;}*Strength$ and *Peak] in Pope; *[+stress][Peak [-stress] and *Peak] in Milton ; *[+stress][Peak [-stress], $W{\;}{\Rightarrow}{\;}*Strength$ and ACII in Shakespeare.
