The slow and regular pacemaking activity of midbrain dopamine (DA) neurons requires proper spatial organization of the excitable elements between the soma and dendritic compartments, but the somatodendritic organization is not clear. Here, we show that the dynamic interaction between the soma and multiple proximal dendritic compartments (PDCs) generates the slow pacemaking activity in DA neurons. In multipolar DA neurons, spontaneous action potentials (sAPs) consistently originate from the axon-bearing dendrite. However, when the axon initial segment was disabled, sAPs emerge randomly from various primary PDCs, indicating that multiple PDCs drive pacemaking. Ca²⁺ measurements and local stimulation/perturbation experiments suggest that the soma serves as a stably-oscillating inertial compartment, while multiple PDCs exhibit stochastic fluctuations and high excitability. Despite the stochastic and excitable nature of PDCs, their activities are balanced by the large centrally-connected inertial soma, resulting in the slow synchronized pacemaking rhythm. Furthermore, our electrophysiological experiments indicate that the soma and PDCs, with distinct characteristics, play different roles in glutamate-induced burst-pause firing patterns. Excitable PDCs mediate excitatory burst responses to glutamate, while the large inertial soma determines inhibitory pause responses to glutamate. Therefore, we could conclude that this somatodendritic organization serves as a common foundation for both pacemaker activity and evoked firing patterns in midbrain DA neurons.

본 논문에서는 실제 응급상황센터에 접수된 신고전화의 음성분석을 통하여 발화자의 연령을 분류하고자 한다. 2가지 발화행태적 특징요소인 무성휴지(Silent Pause), 대화반응시간(Turn-taking latency)를 활용하여 성인과 노인을 분류할 수 있는 특징에 대한 분류기준을 선정하고, 이를 기계학습 분류기인 SVM(Support Vector Machine)을 활용하여 분류정확도를 확인하였다. 먼저, 응급상황센터의 실제 신고전화에 대하여 발화행태적 특징 요소를 기반으로 청취분석을 통하여 발생길이에 대하여 성인과 노인사이에 통계적으로 유의하다는 것을 확인하였다(p<0.05). 또한, 성인과 노인 각 100개, 총 200개의 음성데이터를 5차 교차검증방법을 사용하여 기계학습을 실행한 결과, 2가지의 발화행태를 모두 사용한 복합기준(무성휴지+대화반응시간)일 경우, 70%의 가장 높은 분류정확도를 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구의 결과는 음성에 기반한 연령을 분류하는 연구에 있어서, 기존의 음성정보와 더불어, 새로운 발화행태적 특징요소와의 결합을 통하여 연령구분을 가능하게 하는 새로운 방법으로 제안할 수 있을 것이다. 또한, 향후 음성기반 상황판단 시스템 기술 개발에 있어서 기초자료로 적용이 가능하며, 이를 통하여 신속한 연령분류를 판단을 통한 상황대처가 가능하도록 하는 데에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

This study analyzes different types of pauses in French language - silent pauses and filled pauses -, focussing on their distribution and duration in utterances from a radio interview. Pauses combined with intonation which precede and succeed influence the variability of intonation patterns; initial rising and penultima rising of French intonation. These two patterns characterize contemporary French, specially in face-to-face situation.

We have developed a PVR (Personal Video Recorder) chip that is capable of simultaneous playback and recording of HD quality MPEG-2 streams for digital TV. it provides viewers with some advanced features as well as pause, instant replay, skip forward and fast forward/rewind found in conventional PVRs for analog TV. This paper describes the enhanced and innovative features that art implemented on our PVR.

사용자의 고화질 요구와 사업자의 차별화된 서비스 제공 노력의 결과로 기존의 MPEG-4 기반이 아닌 고화질 전용의 MPEG-2 화질을 사용하는 VOD 서비스가 새로운 대안으로 제시되고 있다. MPEG-2 비디오는 높은 네트워크 대역폭을 요구하는 단점이 있는 반면, 사용자에게 양질의 화질을 제공할 수 있으며 표준의 사용으로 컨텐츠 유지. 보수에 유리하다. 본 논문에서는 상용 스트리밍 서버인 nCUBE 서버와 연동하여 MPEG-2 TS 데이터를 스트리밍 하는 VOD 시스템에 대하여 설명한다. VOD 제어 프로토콜로 RTSP(Real Time Streaming Protocol)를 사용하였으며, 스트림 전송 프로토콜로 UDP/IP 방식을 사용하였다. 지원하는 VCR 기능으로는 FF, RW, STOP. Pause가 있다.

트리 기반 모델링 기법 중 하나인 CART 방법을 이용하여, 운율구 추출과 운율구 사이의 휴지 기간을 모델링 하고자 한다. 모델링을 위한 특징 변수들의 유효성을 실험에 앞서 알아본 후, 생성된 트리들을 해석함으로써 제안하는 특징 변수들이 효과적임을 보인다. 음성 정보를 제외한 문서 정보만을 이용하여 실험한 결과, 운율구 경계 결정 오류율은 14.46% 이었고, 휴지 기간 예측 RMSE 가 132.61 msec 이었다.

This paper proposes the speech synthesis method using Korean prosodic rules as an important technique for Korean speech synthesis. The prosodic model for speech synthesis is composed of accentual phrases and intonational phrases which are derived from hierarchical structure of prosody. This prosodic model controls duration time, intonation and pause of synthesized speech. Synthesis units constitute of demi-syllables and VCV-triphones which can make unlimited vocabularies, and TD-PSOLA is used a sthe synthesis method.

상대방에게 의사를 전달할 때 보다 정확하게 자신의 의도를 표현하려면 대화의 흐름에 맞는 적절한 억양을 주어 발화해야 한다. 본 논문에서는 결함범주문법을 이용하여 문장을 분석하고 문장 내 정보와 문장 간 정보 즉, 문맥에 따라 강세(pitch accent), 휴지(pause), 강조 등의 억양정보를 어떻게 나타내야 하는지를 분석하여 문장의 정보구조에 추가하는 방법을 제시한다.

In this paper, a rule-based method for improving the intelligibility of synthetic speech is proposed. A 12-pole linear prediction coding method is used to model syllable speech signals. A syllable concatenation rule for pause and frame rejection between syllables is developed to improve the naturalness of the synthetic speech. In addition, phonoligical structure transform rule and prosody rule are applied to the synthetic speech by LPC. The illustrative results demonstrate that the synthetic speech obtained by applying these rules has better naturalness than the synthetic speech by LPC.

현재 무선단말기를 비롯한 많은 내장형 기기에서 자바 플랫폼을 채택하고 있다. 내장형 기기는 제공되는 메모리 용량의 제약으로 인하여 J2ME 플랫폼을 주로 사용하고 있다. J2ME 플랫폼은 CDC와 CLDC 컨피큐레이션으로 나뉘며. CDC는 JAVA 어플리케이션의 수행에 있어서 JVM보다 적은 동적 수행 메모리를 요구하는 CVM을 채택하고 있다. CDC는 CLDC에 비하여 메모리의 제약이 상대적으로 적은 셋탑박스 등과 같은 내장형 기기에서 주로 사용된다. 본 논문에서는 J2ME 플랫폼의 VM중에 하나인 CVM상에서 어플리케이션 수행에 따른 Generational GC의 특성에 대하여 알아본다. 특히 오브젝트의 life time, 가비지 컬렉션 주기 pause time 및 young generation의 크기에 따른 동작 특성을 중점적으로 고찰한다.
