Fabrication of H2 Gas Sensor Based on ZnO Nanarod Arrays by a Sonochemical Method

  • We report a simple method for fabricating ZnO gas sensors via a sonochemical route and their $H_2$ gas sensing properties. Vertically aligned ZnO nanorod arrays as a sensing material were synthesized on a Pt-electrode patterned alumina substrate under ambient conditions. The advantage of the proposed method is a high speed of processing. The gas sensor based on ZnO nanorod arrays with large specific surface area showed a high response to $H_2$ and a detection limit of 70 ppm at $250^{\circ}C$. Also, their response and recovery time were relatively short and a complete regeneration was observed. A mechanism for sensing $H_2$ gas on the surface of ZnO nanorods is proposed.

  • Organic semiconductors based on conjugated thiophene oligomer have great potential to be utilized as an active layer far electronic and optoelectronic devices. In this study, $\alpha$ -sexithiophene($\alpha$-6T) thin films and various electrode materials were deposited by Organic Molecular Beam Deposition(OMBD) and vacuum evaporation respectively. Those films were photolithographically patterned fur measurements. Electrical characterization of the thin film transistor with various channel length were measured, and field effect mobility is calculated by formula.

Transparent Conducting Nanodomes for Efficient Light Management

  • Transparent conducting nanoscale-domes were periodically patterned on a Si substrate by nanoimprint method. Transparent conductor of indium-tin-oxide (ITO) was shaped as a nanodome, which effectively drives the incident light effectively into a light-absorber and therefore induces a substantially enhanced photo-response. An ITO nanodome is electrically isolated from the neighboring nanodomes. This structure benefits to provide a low contact between a Si substrate and a front metal electrode giving an efficient electrical path. The ITO nanodome device showed a significantly enhanced photo-response of 6010 from the value of 72.9 of a planar ITO film. The electrical and optical advantage of an ITO nanodome is suitable for various photoelectric applications.

Observation of saturation transfer characteristics in solution processed vertical organic field-effect transistors (VOFETs) with high leakage current

  • Unlike ordinary organic field-effect transistors (OFETs), saturation current is hardly to be found in vertical OFETs (VOFETs). Moreover, the fabrication process of patterned sourced for VOFETs is quite complex. In this current work, a simple solution processed VOFET with directly deposited intermediate silver source electrode has been demonstrated. The VOFET exhibits a high leakage current that induces an inversion polarity of its transistor behavior. Interestingly, a well-defined saturation current was observed in the linear scale of transfer characteristic. The VOFET operated with high-current density > $280mA/cm^2$ at $V_d=5V$. Overview potential of the fabricated device in display application is also presented. This preliminary work does open-up a new direction in VOFET fabrication and their application.

단일전극을 가진 마이크로 가스센서의 제작 및 특성 (Characteristics and Fabrication of Micro Gas Sensor with Single Electrode)

  • 센서의 안정도와 감도를 개선시킬 수 있는 단일전극을 가진 열선형 마이크로 가스센서를 제작하였다. 일반적으로, 금속산화물 반도체를 이용한 가스센서는 히터전극과 감지전극의 두 개의 전극을 가지고 있다. 제작된 센서는 히터전극위에 감지물질을 형성하여 단일 전극을 가지는 구조를 가지고 있다. 히터와 감지전극으로 사용되는 Pt는 glass 기판위에 스퍼터링법으로 형성하였으며 $SnO_2$ 감지물질은 제작된 Pt 전극위에 열증착시켜 형성하였다. $SnO_2$ 막은 lift-off 공정을 이용해서 패턴을 형성하고 1시간 동안 산소분위기에서 열산화하였다. 제작된 소자의 크기는 $1.9{\times}2.1\;mm^2$이다. CO 가스에 대한 감지특성을 조사한 결과 1,000 ppm에 대해 100 mV의 출력변화를 나타내었으며, 넓은 농도범위($0{\sim}10,000\;ppm$)에서 선형적인 전압출력을 나타내었다. 또한 가스 반응 전과 반응 후의 전압출력을 비교해 볼 때, 1% 이내의 편차를 나타내는 우수한 회복성을 나타내었다.

  • The patterned vertical alignment (PVA) display showed good electro-optic properties such as wide viewing angle, fast response time, high Contrast Ratio. However, the device has patterned electrode on both top and bottom electrodes which requires high accuracy of assembling of top and bottom substrates in order to exhibit a high performance. So, they have disadvantage about low yield. In order to resolve these problem, in this paper, we studied about top substrate pattern free vertical alignment device associated with surface polymer stabilization using the UV curable monomer. This method shows simple progress, low cost and good electro-optic properties such as high transmittance and fast response time.

Gas sensing properties of polyacrylonitrile/metal oxide nanofibrous mat prepared by electrospinning

  • Polyacrylonitrile(PAN)/metal oxide(MO) nanocomposite mats with a thickness of 0.12 mm were electrospun by adding 0 to 10 wt% of MO nanoparticles ($Fe_2O_3$, ZnO, $SnO_2$, $Sb_2O_3-SnO_2$) into PAN. Pt electrode was patterned on $Al_2O_3$ substrate by DC sputtering and then the PAN(/MO) mats on the Pt patterned $Al_2O_3$ were electrically wired to investigate the $CO_2$ gas sensing properties. As the MO content rose, the fiber diameter decreased due to the presence of lumps caused by the presence of MOs in the fiber. The PAN/2% ZnO mat revealed a faster response time of 93 s and a relatively short recovery of 54 s with a ${\Delta}R$ of 0.031 M${\Omega}$ at a $CO_2$ concentration of 200 ppm. The difference in sensitivity was not observed significantly for the PAN/MO fiber mats in the $CO_2$ concentration range of 100 to 500 ppm. It can be concluded that an appropriate amount of MO nanoparticles in the PAN backbone leads to improvement of the $CO_2$ gas sensing properties.

고효율 후면 전극형 태양전지를 위한 나노 Paste의 적용에 대한 연구 (The application of Nano-paste for high efficiency back contact Solar cell)

  • In this study, we focused on our specialized electrode process for Si back-contact crystalline solar cell. It is different from other well-known back-contact cell process for thermal aspect and specialized process. In general, aluminum makes ohmic contact to the Si wafer and acts as a back surface reflector. And, silver is used for low series resistance metal grid lines. Aluminum was sputtered onto back side of wafer. Next, silver is directly patterned on the wafer by screen printing. The sputtered aluminum was removed by wet etching process after rear silver electrode was formed. In this process, the silver paste must have good printability, electrical property and adhesion strength, before and after the aluminum etching process. Silver paste also needs low temperature firing characteristics to reduce the thermal budget. So it was seriously collected by the products of several company of regarding low temperature firing (below $250^{\circ}C$) and aluminum etching endurance. First of all, silver pastes for etching selectivity were selected to evaluate as low temperature firing condition, electrical properties and adhesive strength. Using the nano- and micron-sized silver paste, so called hybrid type, made low temperature firing. So we could minimize the thermal budget in metallization process. Also the adhesion property greatly depended on the composition of paste, especially added resin and inorganic additives. In this paper, we will show that the metallization process of back-contact solar cell was realized as optimized nano-paste characteristics.

전기화학적 도금을 이용한 wrap-around 게이트 나노구조의 제작 (Fabrication of wrap-around gate nanostructures from electrochemical deposition)

  • Wrap-around 전계효과 트랜지스터는 채널과 전극간의 커플링을 매우 커서 채널길이가 짧아지면서 생기는 단채널효과(short channel effect)를 개선시킬 수 있는 이유로 많은 관심을 불러왔다. 본 논문에서는 실리콘 나노와이어를 이용하여 상향식의 wrap-around 전계효과 트랜지스터(FET)의 제작 공정을 소개한다. 소자의 제작 공정은 크게 전자빔 리소그래피, 유전영동(dielectrophoresis)을 이용한 나노와이어의 효과적 정렬 그리고 게이트 전극의 전기 화학적 도금(electrochemical deposition)을 이용한 생성 등의 방법들로 이루어진다. 전기 화학적 도금을 위한 용액은 독성을 띄지 않는 유기물 용액을 사용하였다. 액체 질소를 이용하여 polymethyl methacrylate(PMMA)가 전기화학적 도금시 형태를 잃지 않게 함으로써, 패터닝된 PMMA가 wrap-around 게이트 나노구조를 제작하기 위한 나노 템플릿으로 사용될 수 있도록 하였다.

2-beam Coupling 방법을 이용한 광 고분자 형광 패턴 형성 (Fluorescent Pattern Generation on the Fluorescent Photopolymer with 2-beam Coupling Method)

  • 아크릴레이트계 모노머를 사용한 최적화 된 포토폴리머에 안트라센 형광폴리머를 첨가하여 형광 특성을 가지는 포토폴리머를 제조하고, 514 nm 레이저를 이용하여 2-beam coupling 방법으로 형광 포토폴리머 필름 위에 회절격자를 형성하였다. 기록 시작 후 30초 이내에 선명한 fluorescent line pattern 이 형성되었으며, 회절격자 형성 뒤, 패턴이 형성된 부분에서 형광 세기의 증가가 관찰되었다. 기록 시 간섭 빔 앞에 mask pattern 을 이용하여 $50\;{\mu}m$ gap electrode 패턴을 형성하였다. 이 때 형성된 패턴은 micron scale gap패턴 안에 회절격자로부터 생성된 submicron scale의 grating line을 보였다. 이는 beam의 광 고분자 film 표면에 대한 각도($3.6^{\circ}$, $15^{\circ}$), 패턴에 사용된 광 고분자의 굴절률 등으로부터 Bragg's equation 을 사용하여 계산된 이론적인 grating 간격 ($0.6\;{\mu}m$) 과 오차범위 안에서 일치 하였다.
