  • In this paper, we propose an automatic displacement system for testing stability of structure. Photogrammetry is a method which can measure accurate 3D data from 2D images taken from different locations and which is suitable for analyzing and measuring the displacement of structure. This paper consists of camera calibration, feature extraction using coded target & retro-reflective circle, 3D reconstruction and analyzing accuracy. Multi-view camera which is used for measuring displacement of structure is placed with different location respectively. Camera calibration calculates trifocal tensor from corresponding points in images, from which Euclidean camera is calculated. Especially, in a step of feature extraction, we utilize sub-pixel method and pattern recognition in order to measure the accurate 3D locations. Elucidation of the Molecular Interaction between miRNAs and the HOXA9 Gene, Involved in Acute Myeloid Leukemia, by the Assistance of Argonaute Protein through a Computational Approach

  • Acute myeloid leukemia is a well characterized blood cancer in which the unnatural growth of immature white blood cell takes place, where several genes transcription is regulated by the micro RNAs (miRNAs). Argonaute (AGO) protein is a protein family that binds to the miRNAs and mRNA complex where a strong binding affinity is crucial for its RNA silencing function. By understanding pattern recognition between the miRNAs-mRNA complex and its binding affinity with AGO protein, one can decipher the regulation of a particular gene and develop suitable siRNA for the same in disease condition. In the current work, HOXA9 gene has been selected from literature, whose deregulation is well-established in acute myeloid leukemia. Four miRNAs (mir-145, mir-126, let-7a, and mir-196b) have been selected to target mRNA of HOXA9 (NCBI accession No. NM_152739.3). The binding interaction between mRNAs and mRNA of HOXA9 gene was studied computationally. From result, it was observed mir-145 has highest affinity for HOXA9 gene. Furthermore, the interaction between miRNAs-mRNA duplex of all chosen miRNAs are docked with AGO protein (PDB ID: 3F73, chain A) to study their interaction at molecular level through an in silico approach. The residual interaction and hydrogen bonding are inspected in Discovery Studio 3.5 suites. The current investigation throws light on understanding of AGO-assisted miRNA based gene silencing mechanism in HOXA9 gene associated in acute myeloid leukemia computationally.

A Comparative Study on Cognition and Consumption Patterns of Korean Rice Cake Classified by Age in Busan (부산지역 주민의 연령별 떡에 대한 인식 및 이용실태 조사)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the Korean rice cake cognition and consumption patterns classified by age in Busan. The survey was conducted from November 21 to December 26, 2007 by questionnaires and data were analyzed by SPSS program. The results are summarized as follows: Forty one point two percent of the elementary school group, 29.0% of the high school group, 35.0% of 2,30's, 44.5% of 4,50's and 39.5% of over 60's took Korean rice cake once or twice per month. Sixty two point eight percent of elementary group, 44.0% of the high school group, 43.0% of 2,30's, 42.5% of 4,50's and 49.5% of over 60's preferred Korean rice cake. The most important basis for selecting rice cake was 'taste' in all of the subjects. The improvements for rice cake were indicated as taste, preservation and packing. As their age decreased, the score of preference for Gaepiduk, Danja, Dootupduk, Bookumi, Soemuriduk, Julpyun, Jorangi and Jungpyun were decreased. Songpyun, Garaeduk, Injulmi, Siruduk and Moojigaeduk were highly recognized as Korean rice cakes. There was a significant positive correlation between preference of rice cake and age, sex, obesity and recognition degree (p < 0.01). Therefore the understanding of the requirements of the subjects according to age and sex is needed to encourage them to choose Korean rice cake.

  • For the fault diagnosis of three-phase induction motors, we construct a experimental unit and then develop a diagnosis algorithm based on pattern recognition. The experimental unit consists of machinery module for induction motor drive and data acquisition module to obtain the fault signal. As the first step for diagnosis procedure, preprocessing is performed to make the acquired current simplified and normalized. To simplify the data, three-phase current is transformed into the magnitude of Concordia vector. As the next step, feature extraction is performed by kernel principal component analysis(KPCA) and linear discriminant analysis(LDA). Finally, we used the classifier based on radial basis function(RBF) network. To show the effectiveness, the proposed diagnostic system has been intensively tested with the various data acquired under different electrical and mechanical faults with varying load.

  • Big data analysis is a technique for effectively analyzing unstructured data such as the Internet, social network services, web documents generated in the mobile environment, e-mail, and social data, as well as well formed structured data in a database. The most big data analysis techniques are data mining, machine learning, natural language processing, and pattern recognition, which were used in existing statistics and computer science. Global research institutes have identified analysis of big data as the most noteworthy new technology since 2011. Therefore, companies in most industries are making efforts to create new value through the application of big data. In this study, we analyzed using the Social Matrics which a big data analysis tool of Daum communications. We analyzed public perceptions of "Internet of things" keyword, one month as of october 8, 2017. The results of the big data analysis are as follows. First, the 1st related search keyword of the keyword of the "Internet of things" has been found to be technology (995). This study suggests theoretical implications based on the results.

Multiaspect-based Active Sonar Target Classification Using Deep Belief Network (DBN을 이용한 다중 방위 데이터 기반 능동소나 표적 식별)

  • Detection and classification of underwater targets is an important issue for both military and non-military purposes. Recently, many performance improvements are being reported in the field of pattern recognition with the development of deep learning technology. Among the results, DBN showed good performance when used for pre-training of DNN. In this paper, DBN was used for the classification of underwater targets using active sonar, and the results are compared with that of the conventional BPNN. We synthesized active sonar target signals using 3-dimensional highlight model. Then, features were extracted based on FrFT. In the single aspect based experiment, the classification result using DBN was improved about 3.83% compared with the BPNN. In the case of multi-aspect based experiment, a performance of 95% or more is obtained when the number of observation sequence exceeds three.

An Automatic Diagnosis System for Hepatitis Diseases Based on Genetic Wavelet Kernel Extreme Learning Machine

  • Hepatitis is a major public health problem all around the world. This paper proposes an automatic disease diagnosis system for hepatitis based on Genetic Algorithm (GA) Wavelet Kernel (WK) Extreme Learning Machines (ELM). The classifier used in this paper is single layer neural network (SLNN) and it is trained by ELM learning method. The hepatitis disease datasets are obtained from UCI machine learning database. In Wavelet Kernel Extreme Learning Machine (WK-ELM) structure, there are three adjustable parameters of wavelet kernel. These parameters and the numbers of hidden neurons play a major role in the performance of ELM. Therefore, values of these parameters and numbers of hidden neurons should be tuned carefully based on the solved problem. In this study, the optimum values of these parameters and the numbers of hidden neurons of ELM were obtained by using Genetic Algorithm (GA). The performance of proposed GA-WK-ELM method is evaluated using statical methods such as classification accuracy, sensitivity and specivity analysis and ROC curves. The results of the proposed GA-WK-ELM method are compared with the results of the previous hepatitis disease studies using same database as well as different database. When previous studies are investigated, it is clearly seen that the high classification accuracies have been obtained in case of reducing the feature vector to low dimension. However, proposed GA-WK-ELM method gives satisfactory results without reducing the feature vector. The calculated highest classification accuracy of proposed GA-WK-ELM method is found as 96.642 %.

  • This paper reports a novel structural health monitoring (SHM) technique for detecting de-bonding between a concrete beam and CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer) sheet that is attached to the concrete surface. To achieve this, a multi-scale actuated sensing system with a self-sensing circuit using piezoelectric active sensors is applied to the CFRP laminated concrete beam structure. In this self-sensing based multi-scale actuated sensing, one scale provides a wide frequency-band structural response from the self-sensed impedance measurements and the other scale provides a specific frequency-induced structural wavelet response from the self-sensed guided wave measurement. To quantify the de-bonding levels, the supervised learning-based statistical pattern recognition was implemented by composing a two-dimensional (2D) plane using the damage indices extracted from the impedance and guided wave features.

The Relationship between Yangsaeng and General Health Status : Based on 2008-2010 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2008-2010년 국민건강영양조사 자료를 활용한 한의학 양생법과 전반적인 건강수준과의 관계)

  • Objective : The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between Yangsaeng and general health status. Methods : In this study, we used data from the combined 2008-2010 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(KNHANES). Mental Yangsaeng was measured by stress recognition and depression. Food Yangsaeng was measured by breakfast skipping and mixed grain diet. Life style Yangsaeng was measured by sleeping time and working pattern. Exercise Yangsaeng was measured by walking and exercise. We defined general health status as EQ-5Dindex, EQ-5Dvas, frequency and day of lying in a sickbed in last one month and activity limitation. Results : Mental Yangsaeng, food Yangsaeng, life style Yangsaeng and exercise Yangsaeng have 8 factors. Most of factors significant correlation with EQ-5Dindex, EQ-5Dvas, frequency and day of lying in a sickbed in last one month and activity limitation. Conclusion : Yangsaeng and general health status have positive correlation.

  • International exchange gets active in nations with the increase of Internet use and heading toward digital age. Thus the communication conveying image of nations effectively plays an important role in an international society. Sports events are regarded as important international exchange events and good opportunities for public relations of one's own country and taken as tools of planting good images in other nations. This study surveyed the concept and history of uniform through the documents and previous studies in order to find the aesthetic characteristics of sportswear uniform applying the image of national ensign and investigates the origin and start time in Korea of selected 6 sports items. As a result of finding the expression way of ensign image and drawing the aesthetic characteristics by analyzing the use and variation of ensign colors, the use of colors other than ensign and reflection of ensign form in collected 60 sports uniforms, this study could draw the symbolical beauty, beauty of variation and beauty of brevity. First, symbolical beauty is the aesthetic characteristics expressing uniforms by using the pattern ensign symbolizes and ensign colors themselves or enlarging a part of ensign. Second, beauty of variation is the aesthetic characteristics creating geometrical new patterns in uniform through the distortion and exaggeration of ensign shape, or transforming the colors themselves of ensign. Third, beauty of brevity is the aesthetic characteristics using other colors only as decorative factor while applying the main colors of ensign to the most part of uniform, or unifying the uniforms with only one color of ensign. As a result of survey, the proportion of the symbolical beauty was highest in summer season and beauty of brevity and beauty of variation followed and the proportion of beauty of variation was highest and the symbolical beauty and beauty of brevity followed after that in winter season. This study found the way of expressing image of one's own country in sports uniform through this article, expecting the exact recognition on sports uniform and the diversity of sports uniform design in which the images of the nation are expressed more variously.
