  • Nowadays, Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry is a well-established measuring technique with a wide range of industrial applications, particularly in the fields of deformation measurement and vibration analysis. Comparing with holographic interferometry, it has some attractive features, which are rapid recording and reconstruction, satisfiable automation etc. The Time-Average ESPI is used to provide vibration mode shape of an object whose vibration amplitude is given as a fringe pattern. Its merit is rapid and simple measurement for vibrating object. However, it is not possible to determine the direction of motions of a point on the object at any given time, because it does not give any information about the phase of vibration. But, Stroboscopic ESPI can measure the amplitude and phase of vibrating surface. In this paper, loudspeakers were tested by these two methods. As a result, we can assume that these techniques will be applied directly in the loudspeaker industry.

  • ESPI(Electronic Speckle Pattern Interfermetry) is an optical technique to measure surface deforamtion of engineering components and materials in industrial ares. This optical method is capable of providing full-field results with high spatial resolution, high speed and is the non-contact technique. One of important application aspects using electronic speckle pattern interferometry is to generate contours of a diffuse object in order to provide data for 3-D shape analysis and topography measurement. The contouring method by modified dual-beam speckle pattern interferometry is proposed. We introduce a shift of the illumination beams through optical fiber in order to obtain the contour fringe patterns. The speckle pattern correlation technique is suitable for providing measurement range from millimeters to several centimeters. The complete geometric analysis of the contoretical and experimental results are obtained.

  • The partial discharge has been blown as the chief breakdown of power equipments. The analysis and the recognition is much difficult because the partial discharge signal is very small and has complex aging pattern. Recently, insulation aging diagnosis based on pattern of phase(Ф), partial discharge magnitude(q), number(n) has been very important. Owing to depreciate the reappearance of aging progress at the electrical tree pattern and to be difficult to analyze visually, the study on partial discharge pattern is suggested to normalizing analysis method of partial discharge signals. This parer is purposed on prediction of life-time measurement of cv-cable, on decision of risk degree with normalization and real-time measurement of partial discharge signals for aging diagnosis of cv-cable. As normalizing the aging signals of electrical tree in cv-cable, it is able to confirm risk degree of insulation material with the distribution of Ф-q-n and recognize the process of aging pattern using neural network.

  • This research proposes a pattern design method for 24 pleated skirts in order to develop an automatic draft program for pleated skirts that will enhance fit and enable mass production. The research method and results are outlined as follow. 1. Three-dimensional body measurements were conducted on 30 randomly selected women in their 20s. By using 34 body measurement items and 6 types of calculations among the items, the items required in the designing of an original pleated skirt were extracted. They were then interpreted through correlation analysis, variance analysis, a t-test, linear regression analysis and multiple regression analysis. 2. An extra amount was added to the waist measurement and external capsule measurement according to the number of times the pleats coincided and the thickness of the fabric by the degree of polymerization of the horizontal cross section (the test of this research: 0.518mm). The extra amount of waist measurement was 3.6cm while the hip measurement was 4.3cm larger than the hip measurement combined with the external capsule measurement and the extra amount. 3. Based on the ${\pm}$standard deviation/2 as the average of the difference between the external capsule measurement and waist measurement, the subjects were classified into 3 somatotypes. Somatotype 1 presented an average total length of waist darts of 23.6cm while that of somatotype 2 was 26.2cm and that of somatotype 3 was 30.2cm. It has been confirmed that there is a significant difference among somatotypes in the total length of waist darts from the front center to the front side and the total length of waist darts from the side to the back center in terms of the average amount of waist darts for every 12 parts on the WL.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the sizing system fur women's glove. The combination of anthropometric and engineering aspects of glove pattern-making is difficult problem in engineering clothing. And the traditional measurements is not enough for glove. Therefore, to develop the hand measurement method and dimension for glove, a comprehensive list of candidate measurements was reviewed and the manufacturers (Their career was over the 15years.) were interviewed on the method of glove pattern-making. This study was conducted traditional and creative 88 two-dimensional anthropometric measurements and 4 photometric measurements for glove pattern-making. In addition, 16 creative measurements were instrumented using a special hand measuring board for measuring of landmark locations on the hand. The subjects were 260 women's right hand in the age group of 18 to 35 years old in Korea.

  • An artificial neural network(NN) technique is developed for hardware redundant sensor validation. Since the measurement space is a continuous space with many operating regions, it is difficult to train a NN to correctly detect failure in an accurate measurement system. A conventional backpropagation NN is modified to include an additional preprocessing layer that extracts classification features from scalar measurements. This feature extraction means transform the measurement space to parity space. The NN is independent of the state variable being measured, the instrument range, and the signal tolerance. This NN resembles the parity space approach to signal validation, except that analytical parity equations are unneeded and the NN pattern recognition capability is utilized for decision making.

  • The elasticity of the contact wire is one of important static parameters for the catenary system. This paper presents how to analyse the elasticity of the catenary system using both simple string model method and finite element method with their formula. Analysis results obtained by these two methods for KTX catenary system are compared. A measurement of the elasticity for the KTX catenary under construction which is located near Kumkang bridge is made for the comparison with the analysis results. Both a dynamic and a static methods are tried for the measurement. Because of wave propagation, the dynamic method with 5 km/h running presented an asymmetric variational pattern of the elasticity while the static method presented a symmetric pattern of the elasticity in the span. Measured elasticity using the static method is found to be a little higher than the analysis results. But, the static method can presented us a variational pattern of the elasticity in the span similar to the analysed results. Therefore, the static method can be used for evaluating the elasticity of the catenary system

  • In the present study a new measurement technique has been developed, which uses an ultrasonic transmission signal in order to identify the vertical two phase flow pattern. The ultrasonic measurement system developed in the present study not only provides the information required for the identification of vertical two phase flow patterns but also makes real time identification possible. Various vertical two phase flow patterns such as bubbly, slug, churn, annular flow etc. have been accurately identified with the present ultrasonic measurement system under atmospheric condition. In addition, the present test apparatus can practically simulate the ultrasonic propagation characteristics under high temperature and high pressure systems. Therefore, it is expected that the present ultrasonic flow pattern identification technique could be applicable to the vertical two phase flow systems under high temperature and high pressure conditions.

  • An efficient torso pattern has been developed to cope with the future trend of order-based, individualized production like the E.C.(Electronic Commerce) in the apparel industry, and to make a database foundation of automatic garment pattern drafting. For this purpose, a non-contact three-dimensional anthropometric measurement system was used to provide a lot of accurate body data for better individual fit, and an automatic pattern drafting system that can easily generate various size patterns and construct a pattern database has been developed too. The subjects of this research were 18 to 24 year-old women whose data had been gathered through the Korean national investigation of anthropometry for industrial standards in 1997 and various body shapes were analyzed by the measurements. And a special software system has been developed to verify the validity of newly proposed drawing rules. The results of sensory evaluation for appearance and moving fitness of the new torso pattern showed a significant improvement in individual fit even for the figures with large deviation from standard shape compared with the results of the traditional one.
