The aims of automation efforts in libraries are the rationalization of interval work and improvement of user services. After a period of exclusive internal computer utilization, later voluntary contact with the computer (e.g., circulation control with self services), patrons of American libraries now have to go to a computer terminal if they want certain information. Online public access catalogs(OPAC) have been used in American libraries since the end of the seventies. But OP AC are accepted by patron only if they have a useful and flexible user interface. This paper briefly describes the use of online catalogs in different type of libraries, categories of user (user, non-user), aspect of catalog use in context with computer experience etc. The disscussion then focuses on the characteristics of the final report of online catalog use study of Council on Library Resources and user problems in searching, as reported in many other catalog use studies.

To achieve public library services for all by including those with disabilities, librarians have to think of them in new ways, and be knowledgeable about various types of disabilities and how to best assist the patron. And public libraries must provide them with services designed by types of disability. This study analyzed the characteristics of Korean disabled people by types of disability and proposed the directions to develop of public library services for people with disabilities by types of disabilities.

From the 1978 Seasat synthetic aperture radar(SAR) to present systems, spaceborne SAR has demonstrated the capability to image the Earth's ocean and land features over broad areas, day and night, and under most weather conditions. The application of SAR for surveillance of commercial fishing grounds can did in the detection of illegal fishing activities and provides more efficient use cf limited aircraft or patron craft resources. In the area of vessel traffic monitoring for commercial vessels, Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) which uses the ground-based radar system has some difficulties in detecting moving ships due to the limited detection range cf about 10 miles. This paper introduces the field testing results of ship detection by RADARSAT SAR imagery, and proposes a new approach for a Vessel Monitoring System(VMS), including VTS, and SAR combination service.

This survey was undertaken to evaluate the correlationship between the nutrients intakes and the environmental factors that was assumed to influence to them in the preschool children in Masan city. Their average energy intake was met with the korean recommended dietary Allowance(RDA), and the other nutrients intakes exceeded to. The percentage of carbohydrate, fat and protein among daily total energy intakes was showed 67 : 18 : 15 in order and it is similar to the proposal-value of RDA. The higher socioeconomic level of family, and educational degree of their parent were, the more amounts of nutrients intakes inc4eased. Especially educational level of mother can affect the amounts of nutrients intakes greatly. It is considered that the development of nutritional program for the more concrete and various education for their patron should be done.

Foreign bodies in airway and food passage commonly occur by accident, and in most cases they get removed without delay. But sometimes, because of patron's ignorance and lack of physician's eagerness in examination, the possible presence of foreign body is overlooked. And patient with subsequent symptoms is transferred to ENT department after managed by non-otolaryngologist for a long time. We had experienced and studied two cases of foreign bodies which had been lodged for a long period.

The purpose of this survey was to understand the attitudes, consumption patterns and preferences of domestic consumers relating to ginseng products in general. This study involved 1,305 people (420 agents, 742 ginseng farmer, 143 staff of Korea Tobacco and Ginseng Co.). The results obtained are summerized as follows. 1, Preferences for ginseng were very high for the majority of the respondents. 2. Most (80%) of the respondents had experience in taking ginseng. They expected ginseng to have efficacy as remidy for the hang-over syndrome, gastronil troubles and high blood pressure, in that order. 3. The patron of ginseng were, for the most part, men in the prime of manhood and old age. The favored products and the preferences regarding the organic condition of the ginseng products differed by sex and age. 4 To sum up the results of this study, we conclude that moderate priced ginseng products, not only easy to use and carry but also attractive to age and sex, should be developed without losing the efficacious components and characteristics.

As instances of private information leak increase, taking steps to protect such information becomes a necessity. In this study of public library patrons, we strove for a comprehensive understanding of library usage records to suggest viable solutions for private information safety in public libraries. To this end, we investigated the patrons' understanding of library usage records and determined the relationship between different user characteristics and privacy knowledge or leaks. The results show that a high number of patrons perceived these records as their own private information, but that there was no necessity for legal procedures or consent for the use of these records. Also, even though the understanding of these usage records showed that there was a relationship between the frequency of library visits and leaks of personal information, the correlation was not particularly strong.

Social networking services that connect a person to other people are attracting our attention and various types of on-the-network services are provided. Library has been playing a role of social media by providing with materials such as books and magazines, and with a place for reading, studying, getting lectures, etc. In this paper, we present a method for finding candidates of groups of the library's patrons who share interest areas by utilizing the loan records, which are obtainable by every library. Such a homogeneous group can become a candidate for a study group, a community for exchange ideas, and other activity group. We apply the method to a collection of loan records of a university library, find some problem to be solved, and propose measures for more detailed solutions. Even though the potential group finding problem still remains a lot of problems to be solved, its potential importance is very high and thus to be studies even more for future applications.

본 논문은 광역 이동컴퓨팅 환경에서 계층적인 네트워크 확장에 적합한 새로운 계층적 위치수정(Location Update)과 경로설정(Routing) 방안을 제안한다. 제안된 방안은 통신을 가장 빈번하게 요구하는 고객영역(Patron Area)의 경계에 있는 일단의 방향선회(Redirection)에이전트들로 위치수정을 제한하기 때문에 위치수정의 수를 줄이게 된다. 계층적 방향선회 개념의 적용으로 고객영역 내에서 호스트 이동에 대한 위치수정 부담이 없어진다. 가벼워진 위치수정에도 불구하고 이동호스트의 홈(Home) 네트워크의 홈 에이전트를 거치지 않고 대부분의 통신이 이루어지기 때문에 최적에 가까운 경로설정을 제공한다. 제안된 방안은 위치수정 및 경로설정의 효율성 관점에서 기존의 계층 및 비 계층 위치수정 방안과 비교 분석하였다.

Foreign bodies in esophagus occur unexpectedly in environment, and in most cases they get removed without delay. However, because of patron's ignorance, patient's age and lack of physician's eagerness in examination, the possible presence of the foreign body is overlooked. Recently the authors had experienced a case (5 months aged male infant) of the foreign body which had been lodged at a level of the second esophageal constriction portion for 2 months.
