A new hybrid variety of pasqueflower, 'Yeonhong', was derived from an interspecific cross between Pulsatilla davurica and P. koreana at the Jeollanamdo Agricultural Research and Extension Services (JARES) in Naju, Korea. The original cross was performed in 2001, and the 'Yeonhong' hybrid was established in 2003 after two years of selective breeding. 'Yeonhong' is characterized by deep pink flowers and is self-incompatible. The inherent characteristics of the variety are deep yellow anthers, a deep pink stigma, six petals, and green leaf color. 'Yeonhong' blooms twice a year. The agronomic characteristics of the variety are 26.5 flowers per plant, 58.6 cm in flower height, 46.8 cm in cut flower length, 11.5 cm in bract width, and 34.4 cm in leaf length. Flower characteristics include 8.4 days of longevity for cut flowers and 34 days of longevity for bracts. The new variety is suitable for use as a cut flower.

A new pasqueflower (Pulsatilla koreana) variety, 'Gyeobi,' was derived from a mutation of native P. koreana at the Jeollanamdo Agricultural Research and Extension Services (JARES) in Naju, Korea. The 'Gyoebi' was obtained by treating seeds with 3 mM of a chemical mutagen, sodium azide, for 16 hr in 2001. The variety was established in 2005 after two years of selective breeding. 'Gyeobi' is characterized by reddish purple flowers with 12 double petals. The inherent characteristics of the variety are deep yellow anthers and reddish purple stigmas. The agronomic characteristics of the variety are 6.3 flowers per plant, 26.4 cm in flower height, 14.2 cm in leaf length, 7.5 cm in flower width, and 11.0 cm in bract width.

This study explores the original text of a Korean recipe book written in the 17th century, which is hitherto unknown to food-related societies, and analyzes the characteristics of the recipes in this book. Choi's recipes in Jasonbojoen (子孫寶傳) are significant, as it is a rare instance of a Korean cookbook written by a woman-few pre-17th century recipe books of this type are known to have survived. This study made some important discoveries after analyzing this book. First, by using pasqueflower and cockscomb, it was possible to identify the era-specific characteristics of kimchi recipes from the 1400s until after the 1700s. Second, this book has historical value, as it shows that the combination of kimchi with cockscomb and the recipe for stuffed eggplant kimchi made only with a small portion of garlic and salt have existed for longer than was previously believed. Third, this book can serve as a valuable database for studies on historical changes in Korean food recipes, as the recipes in this book besides those related to kimchi are representative of recipes in cookbooks before the 17th century. Additionally, it appears that some recipes in the book use very unique minor ingredients that cannot be found in other books.
