Tungsten/Copper Functionally Graded Materials : Possible Applications and Processing through the Powder Metallurgy Route

  • Processing of W-Cu graded materials from attritor-milled W-CuO mixtures is described. The powder reduction steps are investigated by TG and XRD analyses and by microstructural observations (SEM, TEM). Sintering of reduced powder with different compositions is analysed by dilatometry. Sintering behaviour of the graded component processed by co-compaction of a 10/20/30wt%Cu multi-layer material is briefly discussed. Liquid Cu migration is observed and smooths the composition gradient. Perspectives to control this migration are discussed.

Problem solving and teaching 'group concept' from the point of symmetry (대칭성' 관점에서 본 '문제해결' 및 '군' 개념지도)

  • The purpose of this paper is as follows: $^{\circleda}$ to disclose the essence of symmetry $^{\circledb}$ to propose the desirable strategy of problem-solving as to symmetry $^{\circledc}$ to clarify the relationship between symmetry and group $^{\circledd}$ to propose a way of introduction of 'group' in school mathematics according to its fundamental characteristic, symmetry. This study shows that the nature of symmetry is 'invariance under a transformation' and symmetry is the main idea of 'group'. In mathematics textbooks and mathematics education literature, we find out that the logic of symmetry is widespread. We illustrate two paradigmatic problem related to symmetrical logic and exemplify a desirable instruction of Pascal's triangle. This study also suggests a possibility of developing students' unformal and unconscious conception of group with sym metry idea from elementary to secondary school mathematics.

  • This thesis reports the development of a Computer-Aided Process Planning system for rotational parts. The developed system ultimately generates process plans for rotational parts through a knowledge-base. The knowledge-base and decision-making algorithms are represented by Pascal computer programming language. We have developed a process planning system which adjusts the sequence of processes by itself to ensure the quality of the parts. This system generates more detailed job sequence and descriptions than other well-known process planning systems. We present realistic and efficient process plans through the integration of process planning and scheduling. This system optimizes flow time of parts by decreasing the number of machine set-ups.

  • Recently the wide use of the microprocessor requests the UPS systems to have various functions. This paper describes the action of peripheral anti internal controller, and the display for current conditions and self-diagnosis such as over load and system fault, and the control algorithm design of UPS system with 1-1.5KW ratings. IBM PC/AT is used as the control system and Turbo PASCAL Ver 5.5 as control language.

  • A robust control intended for a nonholonomic mobile robot is considered to guarantee good tracking a desired trajectory. The main drawbacks of the mobile robot model are the existence of nonholonomic constraints, uncertain system parameters and un-modeled dynamics. in order to overcome these drawbacks, we propose a robust control based on Lyapunov theory associated with sliding-mode control, this solution shows good robustness with respect to parameter variations, measurement errors, noise and guarantees position and velocity tracking. The global asymptotic stability of the overall system is proven theoretically. The simulation results largely confirm the effectiveness of the proposed control.

  • This paper discusses the processing of the wind loads measured in wind tunnel tests by means of multi-channel pressure scanners, in order to compute the response of 3D structures to atmospheric turbulence in the time domain. Data compression and the resulting computational savings are still a challenge in industrial contexts due to the multiple trial configurations during the construction stages. The advantage and robustness of the bi-orthogonal decomposition (BOD) is demonstrated through an example, a sail glass of the Fondation Louis Vuitton, independently from any tentative physical interpretation of the spatio-temporal decomposition terms. We show however that the energy criterion for the BOD has to be more rigorous than commonly admitted. We find a level of 99.95 % to be necessary in order to recover the extreme values of the loads. Moreover, frequency limitations of wind tunnel experiments are sometimes encountered in passing from the scaled model to the full scale structure. These can be alleviated using a spectral extension of the temporal function terms of the BOD.

  • 최근 딥러닝 기반의 다양한 물체 검출 알고리즘이 제안되어 높은 성능을 보이고 있다. 본 논문은 이러한 딥러닝 기반 물체 검출의 성능을 향상시키기 위해 입력영상에서 추출된 특징 지도를 강화하는 비지역적 특징 융합과, 이를 이용한 물체 검출 기법을 제안한다. 제안 기법은 입력영상에서 CNN 을 통해 추출한 특징 지도를 비지역적 특징 강화 블록을 통해 강화한다. 해당 블록 내에서 입력된 특징 지도는 먼저 여러 리셉티브 필드를 갖는 특징 지도로 분기된다. 그리고 분기된 특징 지도들은 비지역적 특징 융합 모듈에 의해 융합되어 강화된다. 이러한 과정을 통해 강화된 특징 지도는 비지역적 문맥 정보가 강화된 특성을 가지며, 해당 특징 지도를 이용하여 최종적으로 물체 검출을 수행한다. Pascal VOC 공인 데이터세트를 통한 실험 결과, 제안 기법은 기존 비교 기법 대비 향상된 검출 성능을 보인다.

Saliency-Assisted Collaborative Learning Network for Road Scene Semantic Segmentation

  • Semantic segmentation of road scene is the key technology of autonomous driving, and the improvement of convolutional neural network architecture promotes the improvement of model segmentation performance. The existing convolutional neural network has the simplification of learning knowledge and the complexity of the model. To address this issue, we proposed a road scene semantic segmentation algorithm based on multi-task collaborative learning. Firstly, a depthwise separable convolution atrous spatial pyramid pooling is proposed to reduce model complexity. Secondly, a collaborative learning framework is proposed involved with saliency detection, and the joint loss function is defined using homoscedastic uncertainty to meet the new learning model. Experiments are conducted on the road and nature scenes datasets. The proposed method achieves 70.94% and 64.90% mIoU on Cityscapes and PASCAL VOC 2012 datasets, respectively. Qualitatively, Compared to methods with excellent performance, the method proposed in this paper has significant advantages in the segmentation of fine targets and boundaries.

A Study on the Automatic Placement System for Standard Cell (스텐다드 셀의 자동배치 시스템에 관한 연구)

  • This paper describes a standard cell placement strategy which consists of three kconsecutive steps` initial placement, iterative placement improvement, and string placement. In the initial placement step, cell placement was done by solving the linear ordering problem for a one-dimensional layout of standard cells and then zigzaging the resultant linear order width in the chip plane. The iterative placement improvement step is based on the iterative pairwise interchange using the estimated total routing length as a figure-or -merit. The string placement is used to reorder cells and terminals in each etandard cell row such that channel routing in the adjacent channels is not blocked by cyclic constraints and needs fewer routing tracks. The placement program is coded in PASCAL and kimplemented on a VAX-11/750 computer. Experimental results for several examples are included.

  • This paper proposes a new algorithm for logic minimization to optimize the area of a PLA chip. All minterms are expressed in the form of decimal number, and sets of minterms which are not included in the essestia cube are deleted prior to cube generation, ther by making cube generation easy. Also, for reduction of computation time, the properties of multioutput functions are considered. That is, only the combinations of functions correcsponding to common minterms are minimized. The proposed algorithm is implemented on VAX 11/780 using Pascal and compared with conventional methods.
