  • This paper presents an automatic conversion of machining data from the orthographic views of press mold by feature recognition rule. The system includes following 6 modules : separation of views, function support, dimension text recognition, feature recognition, dimension text check and feature processing modules. The characteristic of this system is that with minimum user intervention, it recognizes basic features such as holes, slots, pockets and clamping parts and thus automatically converts CAD drawing details of press mold into machining data using 2D CAD system instead of using an expensive 3D Modeler. The system is developed by using IBM-PC in the environment of AutoCAD R12, AutoLISP and MetaWare High C. Performance of the system is verified as a good interfacing of CAD and CAM when applied to a lot of sample drawings.

  • This paper deals with the experiment to obtain quantitative information about conditions of the interface between a water drop and surrounding oil. Velocity distributions in very close region of the interface are measured by introducing a new illumination technique and a telecentric lens. It enables precise measurements of velocity distributions in the close region to the interface. Although the measured velocity distributions exhibit strong influence from the solid wall of an experimental tube, the coincidence of inner and outside velocities on the interface is clearly confirmed for the clean interface. The shearing stresses on the interface, which are proportional to the velocity gradient normal to the interface, clearly show conditions of contaminated interface, which can be divided into two parts. From front stagnation point to somewhere near a separation point, the distribution of shearing stresses is well coincide with that of the Hadamard's analytical solution, while the distribution on the latter part of the interface sows quite different feature, which is supposed to be strongly influenced by contamination of the surface.

  • The chromatographic separation of n-BuOH extract of the aerial parts of Prunus padus (Rosaceae) led to the isolation of two cerebrosides, and six phenolic compounds. Their structure were identified to be pinelloside (1), soyacebroside I (2), $quercetin-3-O-{\beta}-D-galactopyranoside$ (3), nudiposide (4), (+)-isolarisiresinol $9'-O-{\beta}-D-xylopyroanoside$ (5), khaephuoside A (6) and icariside F2(7) by physicochemical and spectroscopic methods. The compounds $1,5{\sim}7$ are first isolated from the genus Prunus.

  • Purpose - The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a corporate training program. The case study of HCL Technologies was used to investigate how training programs improve the performance of employees on the job, as well as to identify unnecessary aspects of the training for the purpose of eliminating these from future training programs. Research design, data, and methodology - An exploratory research design was used to conduct the study. The research sample size included 50 HCL employees. The sampling technique for the data collection was convenience sampling. Results - Training is a crucial process in an organization and thus needs to be well designed. Specifically, the training programs should provide adequate knowledge to all employees, ensure correct methods are used for the selection of trainees, and avoid any perception of biasness. Conclusions - Employees were not fully satisfied by the separation of the training program into two parts, on the job and off the job training, but if sufficient data is provided to employees in advance, this could help them during the training process.

  • The chromatographic separation of the MeOH extract from the aerial parts of Syneilesis palmata led to the isolation of a new sesquiterpene glycoside 4, together with four known compounds. Their structures were characterized to be 4$\beta$,5$\beta$-epoxy-caryophill-8,(15)-ene (1), 3$\beta$hydroxy-gultin-5-ene (2), 4$\alpha$,5$\beta$-dihydroxy-caryophill-8,(15)-ene (3), (-)-oplopan-4-one-10-$\alpha$-O$\beta$-D-glucose (4) and 3-hexenyl-1-O-$\beta$-D-glucopyranose (5), based on spectroscopic and chemical methods. Compound 2 showed moderate cytotoxicity against five human tumor cell lines in vitro with its EDso values ranging from 5.90-1 0.83 $\mu$g/mL.

  • Seven sesquiterpene lactones were isolated by the chromatographic separation of the MeOH extract of the aerial parts of Saussurea calcicola (Compositae). Their structures were determined spectroscopically to be cynaropicrin (1), arguerin B (2), cebellin F (3), 8${\alpha}$-hydroxy-11${\alpha}$, 13-dihydrozaluzanin C (4), desacylcynaropicrin (5), 3${\beta}$-hydroxy-8${\alpha}$-epoxymethylacriloiloxy-4(15), 10(14), 11(13)-trien-guaian-6, 12-olide (6), and kandavanolide (7). Compounds 1 and 2 showed significant cytotoxicity against five cultured human tumor cell lines with $ED_{50}$ values ranging from $0.23{\~}1.72\;{\mu}g/mL$.

  • In this paper, we present an improvement of a closed-form formula for mutual impedance computation. Depending on the center-to-center spacing between two rectangular microstrip patch antennas, the mutual impedance formula is separated into two parts. The formula based on synthetic asymptote and variable separation is utilized for spacings of more than 0.5 ${\lambda}_0$. When the spacing is less than 0.5 ${\lambda}_0$, an approximate formula is proposed to improve the computation for closely spaced elements. Simulation results are compared to computational results of mutual impedances and mutual coupling coefficients as functions of normalized center-to-center spacing in both E- and H-plane coupling configurations. A good agreement between simulation and computation is achieved.

  • In this study, in terms of the exercise vehicles of the weapon systems having negative buoyancy, the analysis on the operation concepts was performed and the new methods of floating to surface were proposed. In case of having negative buoyancy, the additional methods for recovering the exercise vehicle have to be considered. As parts of recovering the exercise vehicle, for floating to surface the new methods of weight discharge, weight separation and sea water discharge were proposed. The conceptual design about sea water discharge method was performed. It was confirmed that those methods could be applied to the design of the exercise vehicle having negative buoyancy.

  • In this paper, we descried a bottom-up document structure analysis method in bilingual Korean-English document. We proposed a character segmentation method based on the layout information of connected component of each character. In many researches, a document has been analyzed into text blocks and graphics. We analyzed a document into four parts: text, table, graphic, and separator. A text is recursively subdivided into text blocks, text lines, words, and characters. To extract the character in bilingual text, we proposed a new method of word of word separation of Korean or English. Futhermore, we used a character merging and segmentation method in accordance with the properties of Hangul on the Korean word blocks. Experimental results on the various documents show that the proposed method is very effectively operated on the document structure analysis and the character segmentation.
