In multiphase flne the bubble size and velocity. To achieve this, one of approaches is to utilize laser phase-Doppler anemometry. However, it was found that the second order refraction has great impact on PDA sizing method when the relative refractive index of media is less than one. In this paper, the problem of second order refraction is investigated and a model of phase-size correlation to eliminate the measurement errors is introduced for bubble sizing. As a result, the model relates the assumption of single scattering mechanism in conventional phase-Doppler anemometry. The results of simulations based on this new model by using Generalized Lorenz Mie Theory (GLMT) are compared with those based on the conventional method. An optimization method for accurately sizing air-bubble in water has been suggested.
The characteristics of liquefied butane spray are expected to be different from conventional diesel fuel spray, because a kind of flash boiling spray is expected when the back pressure is below the saturated vapor pressure of the butane(0.23MPa at 298K). The ambient pressure was held at a pressure above(0.37MPa) and below(0.15MPa) the fuel vapor pressure. The axial velocities, radial velocities, and size distributions in butane sprays were measured with PDPA(Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer) system. The PDPA measurement showed a smaller SMD at the 0.15MPa chamber pressure, compared to the 0.37MPa case. Log-hyperbolic density function for the droplets size distribution can be fitted to the experimental results of a liquefied butane spray.

Nickel base brazes containing boron and silicon as melting point depressants are used extensively in the joining and repair of hot-section components in next generation nuclear reactor and aero-engine. Therefore, the present study has investigated the preliminary applicability of nickel based alloying nano powders. Nano Ni-based alloying powders synthesized by Pulsed Wire Evaporation (PWE) method. It's powder morphology and phase transformation temperature were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and differential scanning calorimeter(DSC). The powder particle size was approximately 10${\sim}$100nm and exhibits a quite even equiaxed shape. The results of DSC measurement show that both the nano Inconel 625 nano powder and Inconel 718 nano powder presents similar liquidus temperatures approximately $1373^{\circ}C$ and $1380^{\circ}C$ respectively.
The concentration and particle size distribution of non-metallic inclusions which suspended in the molten aluminum at $700^{\circ}C$ were measured by using LiMCA apparatus. The result revealed that the number of inclusions increased with increasing the applied current or decreasing the orifice diameter, while decreased with increasing the purity of aluminum. And also, it was found that the number of inclusions increased with increasing the amount of boron added to molten aluminum. This was found to be attributed to the formation of the inclusions of TiB and $V_3B_2$. It was investigated that the average concentration of inclusions in a constant volume of 20ml of molten aluminum was increased in the order of pure molten aluminum, molten aluminum containing 20ppm of boron and molten aluminum used repeatly in the experimental casting in this study.

For the present study, the cryogenic ball milling process was applied to make Ibuprofen microsized. The cryogenic ball milling was performed at low temperature of about -18$0^{\circ}C$ for 6 hours. The particle size distribution was determined before and after the cryogenic process. X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurement was made to determine the effect of cryogenic process on the crystallinity of Ibuprofen. The results showed that the size of Ibuproffn was reduced about 10 times by the cryogenic process. The degree of crystallinity of Ibuproffn was slightly reduced by the cryogenic process.

Chalcopyrite-type Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) is one of the most attractive compound semiconductor materials for thin film solar cells. Among various approaches to prepare the CIGS thin film, the powder process offers an extremely simple and materials-efficient method. Here, we present the mechano-chemical synthesis of CIGS compound powders and their use as an ink material for screen-printing. During the synthesis process, milling time and speed were varied in the range of 10~600 min and 100~300 rpm, respectively. Both phase evolution and powder characteristics were carefully monitored by X-ray diffraction (XRD) method, scanning electron microscope (SEM) observation, and particle size analysis by scanning mobility particle spectrometer (SMPS) and aerodynamic particle sizer (APS). We found the optimal milling condition as 200 rpm for 120 min but also found that a monolithic phase of CIGS powders without severe particle aggregation was difficult to be obtained by the mechano-chemical milling alone. Therefore, the optimized milling condition was combined with an adequate heat-treatment (300oC for 60 min) to provide the monolithic CIGS powder of a single phase with affordable particle characteristics for the preparation of CIGS thin film. The powder was used to prepare an ink for screen printing with which dense CIGS thin films were fabricated under the controlled selenization. The morphology and electrical properties of the thin films were analyzed by SEM images and hall measurement, respectively.
Poly(methyl methacrylate)/poly(butyl acrylate) PMMA/PBA core-shell composite particles were prepared by the emulsion polymerization of MMA and BA in the presence of different concentration of sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS). The following conclusions are drawn from the measured conversion and particle size distribution, morphology, average molecular weight distribution, observation of film formation and particle formation, glass transition temperature and physical properties of polymerized core-shell composition particles for using adhesive binder. When the concentration of 0.03 wt% surfactant, the conversions of PMMA and PBA core polymerization are excellent as 95.8% for PMMA core and 92.3% for PBA core. Core-shell composite particles are obtained 90.0% for PMMA/PBA core-shell composite particles and 89.0% for PMMA/PBA core-shell composite particles. It is considered that the core and shell particles are polymerized to be confirmed FT-IR spectra and average molecular weight measured with a GPC, formation of the composite particles is confirmed by the film formation from normal temperature, and composition of inside and outside of the composite particle is confirmed by TEM photograph. The synthesized polymer has two glass transition temperatures, suggesting that the polymer is composed of core polymer and shell polymer unlike general copolymers. It is considered that each core-shell composite particle can be used as a high functionality adhesion binder by the measurement of tensile strength and elongation.
The concentration and composition of particulate matter (PM) in the atmosphere can directly reflect the environmental pollution. The atmospheric pollution in some Cameroonian cities is increasing with the industrial development and urbanization. Air pollution is inherently complex, containing PM of varied size and composition. This PM exists as a dynamic cloud interacting with sunlight and is modified by the meteorology. The reflectometer and the EDXRF spectrometry are applied to determine the concentration of some specific elements at four sites in the city of Yaound$\acute{e}$. The particular aim of the present work is to put in place data base on air pollution in urban area and elaborate regulations on the emissions issued to industrial and vehicle activities. This study provides an overview of the concentration of black carbon and some specific elements in the air, which have impacts on human health. The measurement was done by distinguishing the size of particle. So that, the particle with aerodynamic diameter between $2.5-10{\mu}m$ (so-called coarse particle) and aerodynamic diameter < $2.5{\mu}m$ (so-called fine particle) were considered to obtain more information about levels of the inhalable fraction of the location. The results obtained in four locations of the city of Yaound$\acute{e}$ show that the black carbon concentration is very considerable, the element sulfur is a major pollutant and the concentration of fine particle is very greater. The results obtained of fine and coarse filters range from $5-17{\mu}g/m^3$ and $10-18{\mu}g/m^3$ for the black carbon. S, Cu, Zn, Pb, Cd, As, Se and Hg are the specific findings of this work. The pollutants with a greater concentration are S, Pb, and Zn. These later seem to be non-uniformly, non-regular in some location and high compared to other countries. This work allows us to make a potential relation between pollutants and emission sources. In this framework, some suggestions have been proposed to reduce emissions for an improvement of the air quality in the environment and thus, the one of the city of Yaound$\acute{e}$.
This study evaluated the effects of the human activity and outdoor air on concentrations of size-selective particulate matters (PM) by conducting a realtime measurement in classrooms and on roofs at 4 elementary schools, 3 middle schools and 3 high schools in Incheon City. PM concentrations featured repetitive pattern of increasing during break time (including lunch hours) and cleaning time while decreasing during class hours. This trend was more prominent with inhalable PM and PM10 than fine PMs (PM2.5, PM1.0). The indoor/outdoor (I/O) ratio of inhalable PM and PM10 exceeded 1 while that of fine PMs was close to or below 1. The PM2.5 (out)/PM10 (out) ratio stood at 0.59 (${\pm}0.16$) and the PM2.5 (in)/PM10 (in) ratio was 0.29 (${\pm}0.09$), suggesting that occupant activity had a greater effect upon coarse particles (PM10-PM2.5) than upon fine particles (PM2.5, PM1.0). The correlations between the indoor and the outdoor PM concentrations showed a stronger positive correlation for fine particles than that of coarse particles. The linear regression analysis of PM concentrations indoor and outdoor indicated a higher determinant coefficient ($r^2>0.9$), and consistency for fine particles than in case of coarse particles. In conclusion, the results of this study suggest that the indoor coarse particle concentration is more attributed to occupant activity and the indoor fine particle concentration is more influenced by outdoor air pollution.

A technique to measure the adsorption characteristic of surface area and pore size distribution is proposed and its performance is examined. While the existing equipment utilizes liquid nitrogen, the proposed uses carbon dioxide at the room temperature leading to the small measuring device with easy operation and short measurement time. The performance of the device has been examined with micro-particle carbon cryogel and bamboo activated carbon. The results from the proposed device compared with those of the adsorption apparatus indicate that the measurement of meso-porous material is comparable but micro-porous material gives some error.
