Pigment particle size distribution이 백판지 품질에 미치는 영향

  • 지난 수년간 유럽을 중심으로 Carbonate의 PSD (Particle Size Distribution)가 도공지 의 백색도, 불투명도, Coverage등에 미치는 영향에 대하여 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔다. 현재 국내의 Coating Pigment System 역시 Carbonate 위주로 구성되어 있으나, 입자 분포에 따른 실증적 연구가 선진국에 비하여 부족한 상태이다. 본 연구는 최근 유럽에서 사용 중인 Narrow PSD Carbonate가 도공지 품질에 미치는 영향을 검토한 것으로서, 특히 Multiple Coating에서의 도공층 구조변화와 그에 따른 백지물성 및 인쇄적성의 변화를 연구한 것이다. 실험의 Case는 Broad PSD CaC03와 Narrow PSD CaC03를 비 교하였 다 .. Color F Formulation은 Pre Color에서 #1 Clay 30 p따t와 각각 CaC03 70 p따t를 사용하였다. 그리고 바인더와 첨가제는 동일하게 사용하였다 .. Top color Formulation 또한 동일하 게 사용하였다. 코팅방식은 speed 450rrνmin, pre rod coating, top blade coating 방식 으로 CLC (Cy lindrical Laboratory Coater)를 사용하여 코팅하였다. 백지품질은 백색도, 평활도 ,광택도, 거칠음도, Bum Out Test와 Coverage( SEM 사 진 Z -direction) 등을 측정하였다. 인쇄품질은 인쇄 광택도, 인쇄 Picking strength와 2 도 인쇄 농도를 측정하였다. 백색도는 Narrow PSD CaC03를 사용한 것이 Broad PSD CaC03를 사용한 것 대비 약1% 우수하였다. 이것은 Narrow PSD CaC03를 사용한 것이 filter cake이 많이 open 되 어 있어 dewatering이 빠르고, Wet void volume이 증가되 어 부동화점 의 농도가 낮 아져 원지 층으로 침 투되 는 pigment가 작고 표층에 잔류하는 pigment와 void volume의 증가로 인해 기공층이 증가한 것으로 판단된다. 그리고, 백지광택도, 거칠음도 등 또한 Narrow PSD CaC03를 사용한 것이 우수하였 다. 이는 Pre color에서 coverage의 개선으로 top color층의 도공량 uniformity가 개선 된 이유라고 생각한다. 그러나 인쇄품질은 백지와 비교하여 차이가 없었다. 이것은 top 칼라 Formulation이 동일하고, 인쇄시 잉크흡수 거동은 top color 층에 주로 영향을 받기 때문이라고 판단 된다. 향후에는 인쇄품질의 향상을 위하여 Case 2의 CaC03 100% 사용가능성 및 Pre Color 는 Case 2로 고정하고, Top칼라를 변경하는 방법을 또한 생각할 필요가 있다고 판단된다.

포장지역 강우유출수에서의 입자성물질의 입도 분포 및 중금속 특성에 관한 연구 (Characteristics of Particle Size Distribution and Heavy Metal Concentration in Pavement Road Runoff)

  • 본 연구는 고속도로 강우 유출수에서 입도 크기 분포 특성(PSD)을 이해하기 위하여 수행하였다. 경기도내 4곳의 포장도로 지역에서 2번의 강우사상동안 강우유출수 샘플 모니터링을 수행하였고, 시료내 입자의 크기분포를 분석하였다. 또한, 강우량, 유량 및 각 오염물질들을 분석하였다. 시료내 입자의 시간별 변화농도는 강우유출수의 시작 시 높은 값을 보였다가 급속히 감소하였으며 탁도, 총부유물질, BOD, 총질소 및 총인과 같은 오염물질과 유사한 유출경향을 보여주었다. 특히 총부유물질과 탁도와의 높은 상관성을 보여주었다. 강우유출수와 퇴적물내에 포함된 중금속에 있어서 구리, 납, 아연은 높은 농도를 보였으며 대부분의 중금속은 넓이에 대한 부피의 비율이 큰 세립입자에 강하게 결합된 형태로 존재한다.

시멘트 유동성과 물성에 미치는 영향인자에 관한 연구 (A Study of Effecting Factor in the Reology and Physical Properties of Cements)

  • The reology and several physical properties of cements are studied by varying the different mineral composition and particle size distribution(PSD) of cements with closed circuit ball mill for high workability, low heat of hydration, and high strength. In this study, we found that the workability of concretes is related to the viscosity of cement, and affects to strength. Here, this workability is affected by mineral composition (C3A) and the PSD. Especially, rosin-rammer index and 44${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ residue in the PSD of cements are affected to water demand, casting property, slump loss, strength of cements. From the above results, the conditions of cement for high workability, low heat of hydration and high strength are to use low C3A clinker, 5-10% slag addition, and to grind cement below 0.7 rosin-rammer index, above 3.5-4.5% 44 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ residue, 4000$\pm$100 $\textrm{cm}^2$/g blaine. Such cements are, therefore, supurior to super low heat cement and slag-blended cement in comparing the physical properties of strength, slump, slump-flow, adiabetic temperature, etc.

  • The present work was aimed to examine the changes of the shape and particle size distribution(PSD) of ${\delta}^{\prime}$ particles on ageing in Al-Li-(Cu, Zr) alloys which had low density, high specific strength and stiffness, Increasing ageing time and temperature resulted in particles whose aspect ratio tended toward 1. The aspect ratio of ${\delta}^{\prime}$ particles was not dependent upon the ageing temperature and time in Al-Li-Cu alloy but was dependent upon them in Al-Li-Zr alloy. The PSD of ${\delta}^{\prime}$ particles in Al-Li-Zr alloy skewed to the right hand compared with that in Al-Li-Cu alloy, because $Al_3Zr$ phase in Al-Li-Zr alloy formed before ageing promoted the precipitation and growth of ${\delta}^{\prime}$ phase. Therefore, the PSD of the ${\delta}^{\prime}$ particles was found to be affected by the presence of $Al_3Zr$ particles. The growth rate of ${\delta}^{\prime}$ phase was not affected by the existence of the third transition phase $T_1$ formed by the addition of Cu in Al-Li alloy but was affected by the existence of $Al_3Zr$ formed by the addition of Zr in Al-Li alloy.

스티렌/노말 부틸 메타크릴레이트와 알루미나의 분산 공중합에서 중합인자에 따른 입경변화 연구 (A Study on Particle Size with Polymerization Factor in Dispersion Copolymerization of Styrene/n-Butylmethacrylate and Alumina)

  • 분산중합법에 의해 무기물을 포함하는 고분자 미립자를 합성하기 위해 styrene과 n-butyl methacrylate가 알루미나와 함께 중합되었다. Styrene과 n-butylmethacrylate의 무게 비는 3:1이었고, 입자안정제는 poly(N-vinyl pyrrolidon), 중합 개시제로는 2,2'-azobis(isobutyronitrile)를 사용하여 개시제의 농도, 분산매의 종류, 분산매의 혼합 용해도 상수 (${\delta}_{mix}$), 커플링제의 종류와 농도에 따른 입자경을 조사하였다. 개시제의 농도가 증가함에 따라 입자경이 소폭 상승하였고 분산매의 극성이 증가할수록 입경이 증가하였고, 분산매로서, 이소프로판올과 이온교환수를 조성비에 따라 사용한 경우, $[{\delta}_{mix}]^{-4.01}\;{\propto}$ 평균 입자경과 $[{\delta]_{mix}]^{-0.83}\;{\propto}$ 입경 분포의 관계를 얻을 수 있었다. 커플링제의 종류와 농도변화에 따른 입자경 및 입자경 분포는 뚜렷한 차이가 없었다.

입자 발생 챔버를 이용한 Andersen과 총분진 시료채취기의 특성 비교 (Characteristic comparison of Andersen and total suspended particulate samplers in a particulate matter generation chamber)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the performance characteristics of Andersen and total suspended particulate (TSP) samplers in terms of particle size distribution (PSD) and mass sampling efficiency. In the present study, two Andersen and four TSP samplers were selected and tested to quantitatively estimate human exposure to fly ash representing industrial particulate matter (PM) in a carefully controlled chamber. The PSD characteristics, a mass median aerodynamic diameter and a geometric standard deviation, were found from the sampled PM of airborne samplers in the chamber. An Andersen sampler was compared with a TSP sampler quantified by a coulter counter multisizer, as a reference sampler, to describe the correlation of mass sampling efficiencies between two types of samplers. Overall results indicate that Andersen samplers overestimated small PM due to particle bounce phenomena between impaction stages. There was reasonably good correlation ($R^2$ = 0.89 and 0.91) between the mass sampling efficiencies of Andersen and TSP samplers during the two tests. However, the lower values of slope (0.71 and 0.72) in two tests showed that the Andersen sampler underestimated PM (> AD $10.1\;{\mu}m$) with sufficient inertia due to a relatively lower Andersen inlet velocity at 0.8 m/s comparing with the operating air velocity at 2.1 m/s in the sampling zone of a chamber.

Polymerization of Methyl Methacrylate in Carbon Dioxide Using Glycidyl Methacrylate Linked Reactive Stabilizer: Effect of Pressure, Reaction Time, and Mixing

  • Using glycidyl methacrylate-linked poly(dimethylsiloxane), methyl methacrylate was polymerized in supercritical $CO_2$. The effects of $CO_2$ pressure, reaction time, and mixing on the yield, molecular weight, and molecular weight distribution (MWD) of the poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) products were investigated. The shape, number average particle diameter, and particle size distribution (PSD) of the PMMA were characterized. Between 69 and 483 bar, the yield and molar mass of the PMMA products showed a trend of increasing with increasing $CO_2$ pressure. However, the yield leveled off at around 345 bar and the particle diameter of the PMMA increased until the pressure reached 345 bar and decreased thereafter. With increasing pressure, MWD became more uniform while PSD was unaffected. As the reaction time was extended at 207 bar, the particle diameter of PMMA decreased at $0.48{\pm}0.03%$ AIBN, but increased at 0.25% AIBN. Mixing the reactant mixture increased the PMMA yield by 18.6% and 9.3% at 138 and 207 bar, respectively.

Use of water retention curves predicted from particle-size distribution data for simulation of transport of Benzo[a]pyrene in soil

  • Water retention curve (WRC), one of soil hydraulic properties, is often approximated by property-transfer models (PTMs). Using the PTMs, we can estimate the WRCs from other physical properties such as particle-size distribution (PSD). The objective of this work was to investigate the performance of two PTMs with different origins for numerical simulations on transport of Benzo[a]pyrene in a soil. To do this, we chose both PTMs with different origins, i.e., (1) the lognormal distribution model (L anti NL models), and (2) the modified $Kov\'{a}cs$ model (MK model). The MK model showed tile worse performance in estimation of the WRCs. When transport of B[a]P was simulated, the MK model predicted to move farther than the L and NL models did, indicating that transport of B[a]P in a soil can be greatly influenced by the choice of PTMs.

  • 폐타이어의 증가로 인하여 환경문제가 날로 심각해지고 있다. 그러므로 효율적인 재활용을 통하여 이러한 문제를 해결하는데 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 폐타이어를 상온분쇄기를 제작하여 미세 분말화와 초음파로 처리를 통하여 기본물성을 높이는데 목적을 두었다. 폐고무 분말의 통계학적 분석에 의해서 미세화에 따른 물성의 변화와 물리적 성질을 조사하였고, 기계적 및 가교도 등의 물성을 조사하였다. 또한 광학현미경을 사용하여 표면을 확인함으로서 제품특성을 연구하였다.

  • The emission characteristics of particulate matter (PMs) and heavy metals from hazardous industrial wast incinerators were investigated. The particle size distribution (PSD) of PM-10 showed different patterns for two tripes of incinerators; stoker and rotary kiln. However both types showed bimodal form at inlet of air pollution control devices (APCD) and each peak (mode) is located at smaller than 1 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and near 10 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. It could explain the growth of fine PM by nucleation/coagulation/condensation of metal vapors for fine mode. The PSD of PM-10 after APCD was also influenced by APCD types that had different collection mechanism, and both electrostatic precipitator and bag filter showed less collection efficiency for particles ranged from 0.2 to 0.4 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and led to a mode in the range of 0.2 to 0.8 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. However the hag filter showed two modes of PSD, while the electrostatic precipitator had one peak. The PMs and heavy metals emission factors, the representative value of emission quantity for sources, for tested facilities were developed. The emission factor of uncontrolled total PM and PM-10 were 14.7 and 7.05 kg/ton waste, respectively. The emission factors from this study were a little bit different with those from US EPA AP-42. It may thus be appropriate to use these results in the course of developing national emission factors.
