  • In this paper, the low-temperature sintering of $TiO_2$ is approached to solve the problem of high temperature sintering which decreases the interconnection between particles or between substrate and particle. $TiO_2$ paste is prepared with Titanium (IV) isopropoxide as the precursor material and calcinate at different conditions (low temperature). In the results, since the changing of temperature and time of sintering, crystalline phase do not change and the intensities of anatase, rutile phase are higher. At $110^{\circ}C$, 7 h sintering condition, crystalline size of anatase and rutile phase are the smallest which are 13.07 and 17.47 nm, respectively. In addition, the highest zeta potential is about 32.77 mV and the repulsive force increases thus leading to the best of the dispersion characteristics between $TiO_2$ particles. Futhermore, DSSCs at that condition exhibits the highest efficiency with the values of $V_{oc}$, $J_{sc}$, FF and ${\eta}$ are 0.69 V, $8.60mA\;cm^{-2}$, 67.93% and 4.06%, respectively.

  • Evaluation of the solid surface properties by an analysis of the liquid penetration rate into powder beds is very important in applications of powder products. The penetration rate is related the surface property in powder beds. In order to analyze the surface property of powders, the contact angle values of several powders were obtained using the Washbun equation and the Wicking method. The surface free energy value ${\gamma}S$ was divided into a polar component ${\gamma}S^p$ and a dispersion component ${\gamma}S^d$. Inorganic powders such as calcite were used as test samples. The effects of the particle size and the type of experimental liquid on the penetration rate were measured. It was confirmed that the surface free energy of the grinding sample is smaller than that of the classification sample.

  • A copper matrix composite reinforced by turbulent in-situ $TiB_2$ nanoparticle was Prepared by reactions of boron ana titanium. The microstructure, mechanical and electrical properties of the as-drawn composites were investigated. The results showed that the formed $TiB_2$ particles, which had a size of about from 50 to 200nm, exhibited a homogeneous dispersion in the copper matrix. Due to their reinforcement, the hardness and Young's modulus of $Cu-TiB_2$ composites were enhanced with increasing the cooling rate. Moreover, the electrical conductivity of the composites were improved with increasing the cooling rate.

  • Li-ferrite powders were prepared from mixture of Fe and Li salts using a hydrothermal method. Their crystal structure, microstructure and magnetic property were investigated with X-ray diffraction analysis, chemical analysis, SEM, and VSM. In the case of using FeCl3 as a precursor, Li-ferrite powders were synthesized. However, Fe3O4 was formed when the precursor was a divalented Fe2SO4 or FeCl2. The precipitation rate of Li-ferrite was increased as the reaction temperature increased. The optimum conditions of synthesis were the mole ratio of Fe+++/Li+=2, pH 13, the reaction temperature of 25$0^{\circ}C$ and the reaction time of 120min. With this condition, the spherical particles with good dispersion were obtained with average particle size of 0.4${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and saturation magnetization of 65 emu/g.

  • Effects of the dosage change, from 0 to 2.0 wt% based on cement weight, of naphthalenic (NSF) and polycarboxylic(NT-2) superplasticizers, on the fluidity of cement paste substituted by 10 wt% II-anhydrite and fly ash respectively as well as II-anhydrite and fly ash itself were investigated. Dispersion properties between particles in suspension were investigated by zeta potential test. Initial fluidity and slump loss in the paste system were observed through mini-slump and apparent viscosity changes with elapsed time. Zeta potential on the particle surface was a tendency to increase according to increasing of NSF dosage. Especially, zeta potential of fly ash has the highest value among all particles equivalent to NSF dosage. In the fluidity of cement paste substituted by inorganic particles, the specimen with substitution of 10 wt% II-anhydrite and fly ash for cement was more effective than cement itself to improve initial fluidity and retain stable fluidity of cement paste. In addition, effect of NT-2 and NSF to improve the fluidity of cement paste, addition of 1.0 wt% NT-2 was more effective than 1.5wt% NSF.

  • Casting behavior of Zr(Y,Ce)O2 TZP/Mullite suspension during pressure filtration was investigated to prepare multi-layered Functionally Gradient Materials(FGM). The dispersion stabilities of each layer suspension were investigated by examination of zeta potential and viscosity. The each suspensions with 20 vol.% solid loading and 100 첸 of viscosity was prepared after fix of the dispersing agent (Sodium hexa-meta phosphate) and the binder (Hydroxyethyl cellulose), and then the cakes were formed at the 2.5 MPa~10.0MPa pressure range. The cake thickness of all suspensions was increased with the square root of time at the constant pressure, and the relations between filtration pressure(P)a nd dehydration rate (Q=dh/dt) showed that the flows of filtrates in the consolidated layers were laminar. The permeabilities were nearly constant during filtration, and kozeny constants(Kc) of the suspensions were 4.8~6.7. These valumes were seen as close to 5, which might be homogeneous particle packing during filtration. On the basis of those data, the multi layered compaction with 9 mm thickness and 52.5% green density was prepared by continuous pressure filtration.

  • The piezoelectric composite film of ferroelectric PZT ceramic ($PbZr_xTi_{1-x}O_3$) and polymer (PDMS, Polydimethylsiloxane) was prepared to improve the flexibility of piezoelectric material. The bar coating method was applied to fabricate flexible nanocomposite film with large surface area by low cost process. In the case of using metal electrode on the composite film, although there is no problem by bending process, the electrode is usually broken away from the film by stretching process. However, the well-attached, flexible CNT electrode on PZT/PDMS film improved flexibility, especially stretchability. PZT particles was usually settled down into polymer matrix due to gravity of the weighty particle, so to improve the dispersion of PZT powder in polymer matrix, small amount of additives (CNT powder, Carbon nanotube powder) was physically mixed with the matrix. By stretching the film, an output voltage of PZT(70 wt%)/PDMS with CNT (0.5 wt%) was measured.

  • Using Diesel-Water Emulsion fuel in commercial diesel engine can reduce NOx and soot when it is injected through the injector. Because water in Diesel-Water Emulsion fuel is vaporized ahead of diesel particle and it cause decrease of combustion temperature. Furthermore, research about the possibility of applicating Diesel-Water Emulsion fuels to commercial diesel engine is demanded in order to prove that Diesel-Water Emulsion fuel is able to apply commercial diesel engine without any replacement of equipments. This research analyzed applicable possibility of Diesel-Water Emulsion fuels to commercial diesel engine's fuel injection system refering injection and spray characteristics. In this research, there are 3 experiments, that is injection quantity, spray visualization, and injection rate. Diesel-Water Emulsion fuel has less injection quantities compared to diesel fuel, and spray penetration length is more longer than diesel. Furthermore, emulsion fuels have less dispersed than diesel fuel. In conclusion, comparing with diesel fuel with only spray characteristics, Diesel-Water Emulsion fuel has bad effects about dispersion and vaporization.

  • Transparent nanosized $TiO_2$ sol has been made by sol-gel method, using Titanium(IV) isopropoxide precursor. To promote hydrolysis for titania is needed excess water, Oil bath and temperature about $80^{\circ}C$. $TiO_2$ sol is peptized ranging from pH 1 to 1.5 using hydrochloric acid for the stability of sol during a condensation reaction. The average particle size of $TiO_2$ sol was approximately 20nm. $TiO_2$-sillane sol was synthesized by surface treatment using MTMS to the $TiO_2$ sol. TEM analysis has been used to check the degree of dispersion and FT-IR analysis has been used to see if the sillane has been chemically bonded on the surface of $TiO_2$.

  • The titanium $diboride(TiB_2)$ has high strength(750MPa), high melting point $(3225^{\circ}C)\;and\;10\%$ IACS electrical conductivity. On this account, the dispersion hardening $Cu-TiB_2$ composites(MMCs) are a promising candidate for applications as electrical contact materials. MMCs for electrical contact materials can reduce material cost and resource consumption caused by wear, due to its good mechanical and electrical property. In this study, we attempt to prepare MMCs with various volume fraction and particle size of $TiB_2$ by means of hot extruded and cold drawn process. Dry sliding wear tests were performed on a pin-on-disk type wear tester, sliding against SM45C under the different applied loads. After wear testing, the microstructures of the worn surfaces were observed by SEM and the microhardnesses of the subsurface zone were measured.
