Sales of equity-indexed annuities (EIAs) have rapidly increased, but the growth rates in sales have recently shown signs of slowing down because the current volatile equity market increases the costs of guarantees in EIAs. New EIAs need to be designed that are similar to existing EIAs but have a cheaper guarantee and a higher participation rate. This paper proposes three types of EIAs with higher participation rates: up-and-in barrier EIA, aulual reset EIA with up-and-in barriers, and partial-time lookbackEIA. It also presents a probability distribution and the method of Esscher transforms, with which explicit pricing formulas for these EIAs are derived.
This study was conducted to evaluate work environment monitoring program(WMP) under Industrial Safety and Health Act in Korea. WMP was evaluated by focusing on five key elements, such as purpose, subject, scope, method and workers' participation. The operation status of WMP was evaluated by using questionnaire to workers and data published by Ministry of Labor(MOL). Compliance rate of WMP was less 13 % in manufacturing workplaces. Over-exposure rate was steady state by annual trend. The degree of workers' satisfaction to WMP was just 24 %. A critical problem with the current WMP is that the employer and workers are not acting as main players. For a fundamental improvement in working condition to take place, participation of workers should be expanded and be guaranteed by law.

This study aimed at examining participation rate in taking health examinations. abnormal findings. and recognition and responses for re-examination recommendation among junior students at a university. Data were collected by interviews and self-reports between March and April. 2000. five months after receiving findings of health examinations. Question items in the questionnaire were made by the researchers. Participation rate for the health examination was $22.5\%$ of all registered junior students: $25.4\%$ for men and $16.6\%$ for women. College of medicine ranked the first in the participation rate. Of the examinees. $22.8\%$ showed abnormal findings. Of those students with abnormal findings. 149 students who were registered at the time of data collection became the subjects of the present study. The average age of the subjects was 23.7 years. The proportion of those with very good or. good self-evaluated physical health was $24.1\%$. while the proportion for mental health was $55.1\%$. The most prevalent problem for men was liver problem and for women anemia. More than $92\%$ of the subjects were aware of their abnormal findings. Those who sought advice were $71.8\%$ and their parents were most frequently asked for advice. As for the contents. $33.7\%$ were advised to visit a hospital. Of the 65 students recommended for re-examination. $60.9\%$ with liver problems took re-examination. while $37.2\%$ with urine problems. The multiple responses of the reasons for not following the recommendation for re-examination were 'not a serious problem $(63.9\%)$,' 'having no time $(22.2\%)$,' Students' recognition of the importance of health examination should be raised to increase their participation rate. When abnormal findings were detected. parents need to be informed for achieving adequate follow-up. All the students with abnormal findings need to be consulted by university health personnel to facilitate proper actions.
As a result of the sudden change of our society and the increasing employment of married women, it is necessary for men to participate in household works. The purpose of this study was to investigate consciousness of and participation in meal management of 30 to 50 years old Korean married men, living in Incheon and Ganghwa. The younger and the lower the education, consciousness about the meal management was lower. More than half of the subjects responded ‘Men can do participate in preparation of meals if necessary’ and the lowest of the subjects responded ‘Men should not participate in preparation of meals’. It showed that the consciousness of participation in meal management was changing positively. Although the consciousness of participation in meal management was positive, the real rate of meal management participation was not that high. Men were participated in grocery shopping, dish washing, cooking and menu planning in order. The average score of nutrition knowledge was high but there was no significant correlation between the nutrition knowledge and the participation in meal management. There were no correlations between the consciousness of and the participation in meal management. But there were strong correlations among each other in meal management behaviors such as grocery shopping, dish washing, cooking and menu planning. Our results suggested that nutritional education should be carried out in menu planning and cooking demanding knowledge and training.

This study contributes to the existing literature by empirically exploring the causes of child labor in the Indonesian labor market. Factors identified include rate of poverty, average wages, education participation, and quality of education. This study utilized an aggregate data of 301 districts and cities across 34 provinces sourced from the National Labor Force Survey and the National School/Madrasah Accreditation Board of the Republic of Indonesia. Using a multiple regression analysis, the study found strong evidence of the positive effect of poverty on child labor. Conversely, the study documented the adverse impact of average wages on child labor in Indonesia. Similarly, the participation in the education system also contributed negatively to the child labor. Finally, the quality of education services is found to have a negative effect on child labor in Indonesia. The findings of this study suggest that, in efforts to reduce the involvement of children in the workforce, the poverty eradication program should be enhanced. The wages should be continuously improved, at least, in par with the changes in prices. Finally, the quality of education and its services ought to be further enhanced to attract more child student participation rates across junior high schools nationwide.
Rapid spread of intermittent renewable energy has amplified the instability and uncertainty of power systems. The Korea Power Exchange (KPX) promoted efficient management by opening the power brokerage market in 2019. By combining small-scale intermittent renewable energy with a flexible facility through the power brokerage market, the KPX aims to develop a virtual power plant system that will allow the conversion of existing intermittent renewable energy into collective power plants. However, the participation rate of renewable power owners in the power brokerage market is relatively low because other markets such as the small solar power contract market or the Korea Electric Power Corporation power purchase agreement are more profitable. In this study, we used a choice experiment to determine the attributes affecting the participation rate in the power brokerage market for 113 renewable power owners and estimate the value of the power brokerage market. According to the estimation results, a low smart meter installation cost, low profit variations, long contract periods, and few clearances increased the probability of participation. Moreover, the average value of the power brokerage market was estimated to be 2.63 million KRW per power owner.
Objectives: This study aimed to examine how the relationship between socioeconomic factors at the macro level and suicide mortality rate of Korea was different from that of other OECD countries. Methods: We created OECD panel data of 29 OECD countries from 1985 to 2006 and analyzed the relationship between socioeconomic factors and suicide mortality rate for separate age and sex groups using a fixed-effect model. Economic factors included per capita GDP, per capita GDP growth rate, unemployment rate, and women's economic participation rate. Social factors included birth rate, alcohol consumption, and the percentage of population 65 and older. Results: Unemployment rate had a positive relationship with suicide in other countries but it had a negative relationship in some groups of Korea. Women's economic participation rate was both positively and negatively related with suicide in Korea but it did not relate to suicide in others. The negative relationship of birth rate and the positive relationship of alcohol consumption with suicide were evident in Korea, which were not found in other countries. The percentage of population 65 and older was negatively correlated in some female groups in Korea, while no significant relationship was found in other countries. Conclusions: Korea was substantially different from other OECD countries in the relationship between socioeconomic factors and suicide mortality rate.
This study was aimed to investigate the actual condition of the performance of the occupational health nursing services, and to analyze a main cause which affects on the execution of its duties for occupational health nurses in occupational group health service. In performance of occupational health nursing services by the number of assigned plant, participation rate of health examination tended to significantly increase with decreasing the number of assigned and it was observed that the visiting rate of every month was also significantly higher on touring inspection of work plant, recommendation of facility improvement for work environment, understanding the modification of manufacturing process, and inspection of welfare and sanitation facilities. 2. While they executed their nursing services according to duration of service, the more, their duration of service was, the higher, participation rate of health examination, health check in returning to work for injured workers, talk with other health managers on promoting welfare, service evaluation for a year plan, record of health statistic, and experience of first aid service were. And it was found out that the visiting rate of every month was also significantly higher on touring inspection of work plant. 3. In regard to occupational health nursing services by age, the participation rate of health examination and the experience of first aid service were significantly higher as the age increased. And also the visiting rate of every month was significantly higher on touring inspection of work plant, compared with young ones. 4. In performance of occupational health nursing services by the time required visiting plant, The shorter, the time required visiting plant was, the higher, the visiting rate of every month was, on time of health consultation for diseased workers, and inspection of welfare and sanitation facilities. 5. The subjects of health education were mostly liver disease and occupational hearing loss and video tape was used mostly in health education, monthly health education was the highest in 1-3 times(74.5%) and its duration was the highest in about 60 minutes(33.3%). 6. Vaccination of hepatitis among the specific health services was the highest accounting for 64.7%.
Purpose: The number of patients suffering from depression is rapidly increasing worldwide, and by 2030, it is expected to pose a severe social and economic burden. Reports suggest that approximately 30% of subjects with symptoms of depression do not attempt treatment. Therefore, predicting the characteristics of subjects with depressive symptoms who have not even attempted counseling treatment is essential to increase the participation rate for such treatment. This study intends to predict the participation rates for psychological counseling treatment for depression among subjects with depressive symptoms. Methods: This study used data from the 2021 Korea Community Health Survey (KCHS). Data analysis was carried out using a decision tree to design a model that predicted participation in psychological counseling for depression. Results: The results showed that subjects aged 65 to 74 had difficulty understanding the explanations of medical staff even though they did not have cognitive impairment. Only 11.1% of this group received psychological counseling, which was the lowest rate among the various age groups. Among the subjects, 62.4% of those aged 19-44 or 45-64, who had suicidal thoughts and attempted suicide, received psychological counseling and this was the highest rate among the age groups surveyed. Conclusion: The identification of people showing depressive symptoms is crucial for encouraging them to undertake treatment. Also, proper depression-oriented medical services should be developed and implemented for people with depressive symptoms who exhibit a blind spot towards attempting treatment.
