해성점토지반에서 CPT를 이용한 응력이력(OCR, $\sigma$를 p)의 산정 (Profiling Stress History(OCR, $\sigma를$p) of Marine Clay Using Piezocone Penetration Test)

  • 국내 남해안 해성점토 지반의 응력이력(stress history)에 대하여 피조콘 관입시험 방법을 이용하여 통계분석과 사례 연구을 통하여 조사하였다. 경험식과 피조콘 관입시험으로 산정한 선행압밀응력과 과압밀비는 이론적, 경험적 상관관계를 찾고자 회귀분석을 수행하였고 기준값은 실내 표준압밀시험 결과를 토대로 하였다. 표준압밀시험에서 나타난 조사 지반의 응력이력 상태는 전체적으로 해수면 아래 표층 l0m까지는 과압밀된 상태였으나, 표층 l0m 아래 깊이에서는 과압밀비(OCR)가 0.3까지도 존재하여 전반적으로 지층상태는 불안정한 구조를 가지고 있었다. 응력이력에서 선행압밀하중의 결정은 Chen과 Mayne(1996)의 경험방법과 Konrad와 Law(1987)의 이론공식을 사용하였다. 산정결과, Chen과 Mayne(1996)의 경험공식중에서 간극수압을 이용한 예측방법이 가장 신뢰성이 높았다. 그리고 과압밀비도 Chen과 Mayne(1996)의 경험식이 가장 높은 신뢰성을 보였다. 하지만 Mayne과 Holtz(1988), 그리고 Mayne과 Bachus(1988)방법은 각각 OCR이 1.0이하인 미압밀 지반에서 좋은 결과를 제시하였다. 그러므로 피조콘 관입시험으로부터 지반의 응력이력을 산정하는 다양한 방법은 대부분 지반조건과 위치에 따라 그 결과가 크게 다르므로 지역과 현장특성을 반영한 적합식을 개발하여 지반 설계에 활용하는 것이 타당한 것으로 판단되었다.

선체 Shell FE 모델 내 용접부의 Solid 요소변환 자동화 시스템 (Pre-processing System for Converting Shell to Solid at Selected Weldment in Shell FE Model)

  • FE analyses for weldment of ship structure are required for various reasons such as stress concentration for bead tow, residual stress and distortion after welding, and hydrogen diffusion for prediction of low temperature crack. These analyses should be done by solid element modeling, but most of ship structures are modeled by shell element. If we are able to make solid element in the shell element FE modeling it is easily to solve the requirement for solid elements in weld analysis of large ship structures. As the nodes of solid element cannot take moments from nodes of shell element, these two kinds of element cannot be used in one model by conventional modeling. The PSCM (Perpendicular shell coupling method) can connect shell to solid. This method uses dummy perpendicular shell element for transferring moment from shell to solid. The target of this study is to develop a FE pre-processing system applicable at welding at ship structure by using PSCM. We also suggested glue-contact technique for controlling element numbers and element qualities and applied it between PSCM and solid element in automatic pre-processing system. The FE weldment modeling through developed pre-processing system will have rational stiffness of adjacent regions. Then FE results can be more reliable when turn-over of ship-block with semi-welded state or ECA (Engineering critical assessment) of weldment in a ship-block are analyzed.

터널내 온도조건을 고려한 콘크리트 포장의 거동 및 성능 평가 (Behavior and Performance Evaluation of a Concrete Pavement Considering the Temperature Condition in a Tunnel)

  • PURPOSES: This paper investigates behavior and performance of concrete pavement in tunnel based on temperature data from field. METHODS : In this study, there are 4 contents to evaluate concrete pavement in tunnel, First, Comparison for distress was conducted at outside, transition, and inside part of tunnel. Secondly, temperature data was collected in air and inside concrete pavement in outside and inside tunnel. Thirdly, FEM analysis was performed to evaluate stress condition, based on temperature data from field. Finally, performance prediction was done with KPRP program. RESULTS: From the distress evaluation, failure of inside tunnel was much less than it of outside tunnel, Temperature change in tunnel was less than out side, and also it was more stable. According to result of FEM analysis, both curling stress status of inside tunnel was lower than it of outside tunnel. Based on KPRP program analysis, performance of inside tunnel was longer than outside. CONCLUSIONS : Through all study about behavior and performance of concrete pavement in tunnel, condition in tunnel has more advantages from environmental and distress point of view. Therefore, performance of inside tunnel was better than outside.

안내궤도 차량 부품의 피로 수명 예측에 관한 연구 (A STUDY ON THE FATIGUE LIFE PREDICTION OF GUIDEWAY VEHICLE COMPONENTS)

  • A guideway vehicle is used in automobile, semiconductor and LCD manufacturing industries to transport products efficiently. Since the operating speed of the guideway vehicle should be increased for maximum productivity, the weight of the vehicle has to be reduced. This may cause parts in the system to fail before the life of the system. Therefore estimation of the fatigue life of the parts becomes an important problem. In this study, the fatigue life of the driving wheel in the guideway vehicle is estimated using a S-N curve. To obtain the fatigue life of a part, the S-N curve, load time history applied on a driving wheel and material property are required. The S-N curve of the driving wheel is obtained using the fatigue experiment on wheels. Load time history of the wheel is obtained from multibody dynamics analysis. To obtain the material properties of the driving wheel, which is composed of aluminum with urethane coating, a compression hardware testing has been done with the static analysis of the FE model. The fatigue life prediction using computational analysis model guarantees the safety of the vehicle at the design stage of the product.

  • An end beam is one of the most important structural members supporting uncovered freight under in-service loading. In general, it needs to endure over 25 years. However fatigue fracture has occurred at dynamic stress concentration location of the end beam because user's specifications demanded high speed and vehicle manufacturer made the uncovered freight car with comparatively low strength and stiffness. For durability analysis, finite element analysis is performed to evaluate the problem of uncovered freight structure and local strain. The uncovered freight car was operated on actual problematic railroad line to measure dynamic stress versus time history on the critical part from which a crack is initiated often. Rainflow cycle counting method was used to estimate fatigue damage at dangerous area under operating condition. Therefore, this study shows that analytical fatigue life at the end beam can be predicted on the basis of S-N curve and structure analysis and has a fairly good correlation with experimental fatigue life.

  • The analysis of dynamic forces is essential to the design of systems, stress analysis, or life prediction of part of machine. Calculation of dynamic forces has very close relations with multibody dynamics algorithm. In this paper, an algorithm which calculates joint reaction force/moment of flexible multibody dynamic systems is proposed by using inverse dynamic algorithm and velocity transformation technique.

AISI 304 스테인리스강의 동적 재결정립 예측 (Prediction for the Dynamically Recrystallized Grain Size of AISI 304)

  • The evolution of dynamic recrystallization (DRX) was studied with torsion test for AISI 304 stainless steel in the temperature range of $900-1000^{\circ}C$ and strain rate range of 0.05-5/sec. The evolution of DRX was investigated with microstructural analysis and change of flow stress curve slope. The investigation of serrated grain boundaries using electron back scattered diffraction (EBSD) analysis indicated that the nucleated new DRX grain size was similar to the size of bulging part. Before the steady state, the dynamically recrystallizing grains do not remain a constant size and gradually grow to the size of fully DRX grain at steady state. The calculation of grain size was based on $X_{DRX}$ and the assumption, which the nucleated DRX grains are growing to the steady state, continuously. It was found that the calculated results agreed with the microstructure of the alloy.

  • The ASF(Automatic Sheets Feeders) part of the printer has many bosses supporting gear-trains. Steel-pin bosses are substituted for plastic mold bosses because of advantages such as cost reduction, convenience of manufacturing and accuracy in dimension, but they have a weak point such as fatigue fracture due to low material strength, which causes a serious problem in the reliability of product. To prevent the fatigue fracture of bosses, we should exactly estimate the life to failure of the various shapes of bosses. We take the linear FEM analysis and the statistical method in this paper to figure out the life to failure of bosses. The maximum stress and life to failure of bosses can be easily estimated by this method. This paper specifies how to figure out the life to failure of bosses.

  • Tube hydroforming process is generally consisted with pre-bending, preforming and hydroforming processes. Among forming defects which may occur in tube hydroforming such as buckling, wrinkling and bursting, the wrinkling and bursting by local instability under excessive tensile stress mode were mainly caused by thinning phenomenon in the manufacturing process. Thus the accurate prediction and suitable evaluation of the thinning phenomenon play an important role in designing and producing the successfully hydroformed parts without any failures. In this work, the formability on hydroformed part for automobile, i.e. engine cradle, was evaluated using finite element analysis. The initial tube radius, loading path with axial feeding force and internal pressure, and preformed configuration after preforming process were considered as the dominant process parameters in total tube hydroforming process. The effects on these process parameters could be confirmed through the numerical experiments with respect to several kinds of finite element simulation conditions. The degree of enhancement on formability with each process parameters such as initial tube radius, loading path and preform configuration were also compared. Therefore, it is noted that the evaluation approach of the formability on hydroformed parts for lots of industrial fields proposed in this study will provide one of feasible methods to satisfy the increasing practical demands for the improvement of the formability in tube hydroforming processes.

SSI를 이용한 건물과 인접지하구조물의 내진 안정성에 대한 기초 수치해석 연구 (A preliminary numerical analysis study on the seismic stability of a building and underground structure by using SSI)

  • 현재까지 대부분의 내진해석 연구는 지상과 지하구조물을 개별적으로 분석하는 데 제한되어왔기 때문에 그 상호거동이 효과적으로 분석되지 못했다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 기반암과 표층으로 이루어진 지반에 건물과 인접지하구조물이 설치되는 복합지하시설물을 대상으로 지반과 구조물을 동시에 고려한 동적해석(SSI)을 수행하였다. 내진안정성이 층간변위비와 구조부재의 휨응력에 근거하여 분석되었다. 그 결과, 초고층건물이 저층건물보다 인접지하구조물의 영향을 더 많이 받지만, 지상구조물은 내진안정성이 양호한 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 건물의 지하부와 인접지하구조물에서 발생한 휨인장응력이 허용값을 초과하여 지상부보다는 지하구조물이 더 취약할 수 있다고 나타났다. 따라서 대도시에서의 건물은 주변에 다양한 구조물이 존재하기 때문에 내진해석 시 지상 및 지하구조물을 동시에 고려해야 상호거동을 정확히 예측할 수 있다고 판단된다.
