Analysis and Application Methods of Patent Map for Performance Diffusion of Translational Research in Health Technology Research and Development (보건의료 R&D 연구성과 활용·확산을 위한 특허맵 분석 및 활용방안 연구)

  • Translational research (TR) as high quality research can accelerate collaboration strongly between biotechnology-based researchers and clinical-research experts for overcoming diseases. TR facilitates basic science translated to clinical efficacy and effectiveness from bench (basic science) to bedside (clinical practice) for the enhancement of human health. Disease-oriented TR programs were defined as unilateral, bilateral and multilateral TR in this patent performance analysis. Patent performance was measured in a R&D project on Health and Medical Technology to enhance the productivity of R&D investment on disease-oriented TR in Health Technology (HT). Patent Map (PM) analysis and Bibliometrics were conducted to collect information for the assessment of research patents of TR programs. Futhermore, PIAS (Patent Information Analysis System) and Thinklear programs were applied for quantitative and qualitative analysis successfully. These indicate that multi-dimensional analysis of patent performance for disease-oriented TR could promote the connection of R&D-IP (Research and Development-Intellectural Property) and R&BD (Research and Business Development) supporting system significantly.

The Fabrication and Characterization of Diplexer Substrate with buried 1005 Passive Component Chip in PCB (PCB내 1005 수동소자 내장을 이용한 Diplexer 구현 및 특성 평가)

  • Today lots of investigations on Embedded Passive Technology using materials and chip components have been carried out. We fabricated diplexers with 1005 sized-passives, which were made by burying chips in PCB substrate and surface mounting chip on PCB. 6 passive chips (inductors and capacitors) were used for the frequency divisions of $880\;MHz{\sim}960\;MHz(GSM)$ and $1.71\;GHz{\sim}1.88\;GHz(DCS)$. Two types of diplxer were characterized with Network analyzer. The chip buried diplexer showed extra 5db loss and a little deviation of 0.6GHz at aimed frequency areas, whereas the chip mounted diplexer showed man. 0.86dB loss within GSM field and max. 0.68dB within DCS field respectively. But few degradations were observed after $260^{\circ}C$ for 80min baking and $280^{\circ}C$ for 10sec solder floating.

  • Reduced nasal breathing can influence the growth at)d development of facial structures. It nay have many causes, and enlarged adenoid is the most frequent one. To investigate the effects of adenoids to jaw growth, we must first understand the normal growth of adenoids and jaws, and the relationship between size of adenoids and the values lot the jaw variables. The purpose of this study is to present a more objective standard of nasopharyngeal size and jaw dimension at each bone age, by using Cervical Vertebrae Maturation Index(CYMI) of Hassel, from normal occlusion children aged 6 to 17. The results of this study suggests as follows : 1. At same bone age, female's chronologic age was about 2 year older than male. 2. There was a growth peak of nasopharyngeal(NP) height and depth between CVMI 1 to 2 in male, hut in female NP height and depth gradually increase through CVMI 1 to 6. 3. Relative airway of nasopharynx increases the most between CVMI 1 to 2 period in both gender 4. Among adenoid measurements, Ad2-related variables and upper pharynx, and among dentofacial measurements inter canine width in both arch, maxillary intermolar width and palatal depth had high correlation coefficient with adenoid percentage.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to recognize the frequency of near-hanging patients with elevated Troponin-I (Tn-I), to obtain information necessary for treatment and prediction of prognosis by analyzing the clinical feature of near-hanging patients, and to evaluate the relevance of elevated Tn-I to abnormal result of other cardiac-related examinations. Methods: A retrospective review for the near-hanging patients, clinical record was conducted at two urban training hospitals between April, 2001 and December, 2011. We divided included patients into two groups, which one with elevated Tn-I level ($Tn-I{\geq}0.1ng/dL$) and one without it, and compared the differences in initial vital signs, cardiac enzyme tests, an electrocardiogram, echocardiography, chest X-ray, and the clinical outcomes. Results: A total of 39 patients were included, out of them, 14 patients showed rise in Tn-I level. The length of hospital stay and ICU hospitalization was more prolonged in the patient group with elevated Tn-I level than non-elevated group. As well as the incidence of endotracheal intubation and abnormal findings in echocardiography or chest X-ray was higher in the Tn-I elevated group, which is statistically significant. Conclusion: The rising of serum Tn-I level in near-hanging patients were not uncommonly observed. We believe that the cardiac-related test including Tn-I is necessary for near-hanging patients, and those who are shown abnormal result in cardiac-related test may need close observation and intensive care.

Growth Characters and Productivity of Italian Ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum L.) New Variety 'Hwasan 104' (이탈리안 라이그라스 신품종 '화산 104호'의 생육특성과 수량성)

  • This experiment was carried out to breed the cold-tolerant variety of Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) in Grassland and Forage Crops Division, National Livestock Research Institute, RDA, Suwon from 1997 to 2002. Hwasan 104 as a tetraploid variety was dark green in leaf color and had semi-prostrate and medium growth habit in late autumn and early spring, respectively. Hwasan 104 was 19th May in heading date as a late-heading variety. Especially, Hwasan 104 was broader in flag leaf and longer 7 cm in plant length, and thicker in stem width than those of control variety, Hwasan 101. Cold tolerance of Hwasan 104 was better than that of Hwasan 101 registered as a cold-tolerant variety. Dry matter (DM) yield of Hwasan 104 was $5\%$ more than DM 9,348 kg/ha of Hwasan 101. In vitro dry matter digestibility and total digestible nutrient of Hwasan 104 were 74.3 and $63.1\%$ which are 3.3 and $1.5\%$ lower than those of Hwasan 101, respectively. Acid detergent fiber and neutral detergent fiber of Hwasan 104 were 32.6 and $55.8\%$ which are 1.9 and $2.4\%$ higher than those of Hwasan 101, respectively.

  • Resources of the sea cucumber, Stichopus japonicus in the west coast of Korea are decreasing sharply due to overfishing and severe marine pollutions. Artificial seed production and release of this species need to be conducted to maintain sea cucumber stock in the region. In this study, to provide basic information for such works, reproductive cycle of sea cucumber collected from Anmyondo in the region was histologically studied for a year from October 2004 to September 2005. This species was dioecious, and its gonads was composed of a number of gametogenic follicles. The gonadosomatic index (GSI) was reached the maximum in June (7.91), and the minimum in October (0.42). The main spawning occurs between June and August. The reproductive cycle of the sea cucumber could be divided into five stages: multiplicative stage (January to March), growing stage (March to April), mature stage (April to July), spawning.

  • Idiopathic CD4+ T-lymphocytopenia is defined as a depletion of CD4+ lymphocytes below $300/mm^3$ in the absence of HIV infection or other known causes of immunodeficiency. Many infectious diseases have been reported to be associated with idiopathic CD4+ T-lymphocytopenia, and there have also been a few cases of mycobacterial infection in idiopathic CD4+ T-lymphocytopenia. Until now, it has been unclear as to whether CD4+ T-lymphocytopenia is a predisposing factor for or a consequence of the mycobacterial infection. Pulmonary alveolar proteinosis is an uncommon disease characterized by the intraalveolar deposition of amorphous granular material that stains positive with PAS, and its association with mycobacterial infection has rarely been reported. Recently, we experienced a previously healthy young man who had been diagnosed as idiopathic CD4+ T-lymphocytopenia with disseminated mycobacterium kansasii infection and pulmonary alveolar proteinosis, and report this case.

Effects of Mesh size and Material of Cages on Growth and Survival rate of the Scallop (Chlamys farreri Jones & Preston, 1904) cultured in Hanging culture in the West coast of Korea (비단가리비, Chlamys farreri 수하양식에서 채롱의 망목 및 재질에 따른 성장과 생존)

  • We studied that the effects of mesh size and material of cages on the growth of C. farreri (initial shell height 38.6 mm and shell total weight 7.2 g) held in suspension cage from September 2005 to October 2006. The experiment was performed with two mesh sizes (1 cm and 2 cm) and two materials (net and plastic) of cages in same densities. After 13 months from culture beginning, ranges of shell height and total weight were from 69.7 mm to 73.9 mm and from 36.1 g to 47.0 g, respectively. The survival rate was from 93% to 100%, respectively. The growth rates of the scallop were positively correlated with the mesh size. In the growth rate according to culture material, the growth of scallop in the plastic cage was faster than that in the net cage from September 2005 to June 2006, but the growth in the plastic was slower than that in the net cage for obstruction by attaching organisms from June to October 2006.

Effect of Stocking density on Growth and Survival rate of the Scallop, Chlamys farreri (Jones & Preston, 1904) cultured in Hanging culture in the West coast of Korea (비단가리비, Chlamys farreri 수하양식에서 수용밀도에 따른 성장과 생존)

  • We studied that the effect of stocking density on growth and survival rate of the scallop, Chlamys farreri (initial shell height 32.97 mm and total weight 5.63 g) from June 2002 to October 2003 in the west coast of Korea. C. farreri is usually the west coast of Korea and northern China in the natural habitat of the coastal species. Range of surface water temperature in the study area was $4.3^{\circ}C$ to $25.3^{\circ}C$, salinity 29.2 psu to 32.1 psu, dissolved oxygen 5.32 mg/L to 7.51 mg/L and pH was 7.84 to 8.12, respectively. The stocking densities were 20, 30, 40 and 50 individuals per a compartment of suspension cage in culture beginning. After 16 months from initiation, ranges of shell height and mean total weight were from 64.35 mm to 76.23 mm and from 41.53 g to 64.85 g. The survival rate was from 82% to 100%. The growth rate of the scallop was negatively correlated with the stocking density. The growth of the shell height and total weight were decreased with decreasing of water temperature. Most of mortality of scallop occurred during March to April and September to October. Survival rate in the stocking density was decreased by density increase and was highest in 20 individual a compartment.

Quality Characteristics of Dried Radish (Raphanus sativus) by Drying Methods (건조방법에 따른 마른 무말랭이의 품질 특성)

  • In recent, Kimchi is produced in the scale of industry, Consumers show increased demand of safety and high quality and hygienic process control. So, sun drying, hot air drying and cold air drying methods were investigated to compare the demand Sun drying took 96 hrs, hot air drying took 4 hrs at $70^{\circ}$ and cold air drying took 102 hrs at $10^{\circ}C$ in removing water to $90\%$ from radish. Brownness of radish was expressed as absorbance. Absorbance were 0.20, 2.04 and 1.87 and also Vit-C contents were 0.14 mg/g, 0.12 mg/g and 0.096 mg/g in dried radish according to cold air drying, hot air drying and sun drying, respectively. From overall experimental results, cold air drying method was found as superior drying method to other drying methods.
