This study investigated the effect of housing poverty in childhood on adolescents' subjective well-being. Specifically, this study examined whether the major factors that have been known to affect adolescents' well-being (i.e., family relationships, peer relationships, school adjustment etc.) mediated the relationship between housing poverty and adolescents' well-being. And then this study aimed to present an empirical evidence for establishing policies against housing poverty in order to enhance adolescent's subjective happiness. Data were derived from the $1^{st}$, $4^{th}$, and $7^{th}$ surveys of the Korea Welfare Panel Study(KOWEPS), and the sample included. 512 high school children in the $7^{th}$ survey. This study utilized structural equation modeling. Housing poverty was measured by the sub-minimum standard housing condition and the household's burden of housing expenditure. Family relationship, as a mediator, was measured by parental involvement in education, parental monitoring, and family conflicts. Another mediator, school adjustment was measured by school environment and school bonding, and the last mediator, peer relationship was measured by friend attachment and peer attachment. The results showed that housing poverty had significant negative effects on the adolescents' subjective well-being. The sub-minimum standard housing condition with inadequate size and facilities negatively affected adolescents' relationships with family directly and subjective well-being indirectly. In addition, the negative family relationships due to the sub-minimum standard housing condition negatively affected adolescents' subjective well-being through school adjustment and peer relationships. The greater the proportion of income a household spends on housing expenditure, the less likely for adolescents to report positive well-being. The sub-minimum standard housing condition had indirect effects through family relationships, whereas the household's housing expenditure directly affected adolescents' subjective well-being. This study suggested the necessity of interventions to alleviate housing poverty for adolescents' families and lays the groundwork for housing poverty policies in Korea.
Jurassic granitoids in the northeastern part of the Yeongnam Massif are possibly the result of intensive magmatic activities that occurred in response to subduction of the proto-Pacific plate beneath the northeast portion of the Eurasian plate. Geochemical studies on the granitic rocks are carried out in order to constrain the petrogenesis of the granitic magma and to establish the paleotectonic environment of the area. Whole rock chemical data of the Uljin granitoids in the northeastern part of the Yeongnam Massif indicate that all of the rocks have the characteristics of calcalkaline series in subalkaline field. The overall major element trends show systematic variations in each granitic body, but the source materials of each granitoids seem to have different chemical composition. The Uljin granitoids are different from other granitic rocks, which distributed vicinity of the study area, in the contents of $Al_2O_3$ and trace elements such as Cr, Co, Ni, Sr, Y and Nb. The Uljin granitoids have geochemical features similar to slab-derived adakites such as high $Al_2O_3$, Sr contents and high Sr/Y, La/Yb ratios, but they have low Y and Yb contents. The major ($SiO_2$, $Al_2O_3$, MgO) and trace element (Sr, Y, La, Yb) contents of the Uljin granitoids fall well within the adakitic field. The Uljin granitoids have similar geochemical characteristics, paleotectonic environments and intrusion ages to those of the Yatsuo plutonic rocks of Hida belt located on northwestern part of Japan. Chondrite normalized REE patterns show generally enriched LREEs ($(La/Yb)_{CN}=10.6-103.4$) and are slight negative to flat Eu anomalies. On the ANK vs. A/CNK and tectonic discrimination diagrams, parental magma type of the granites corresponds to I-type and volcanic arc granite (VAG). Interpretations of the chemical characteristics of the granitic rocks favor their emplacement in a compressional tectonic regime at the continental margin during the subduction of Izanagi plate in Jurassic period.
In this study, we delve into the potential for innovative cultural education techniques that utilize the timeless tales of Princess Bari and The Tale of Shim Cheong as tailored for the upcoming generations of overseas Korean learners. With a rising number of young overseas Koreans born and raised in their host countries, there emerges a pressing need to craft an educational framework that resonates with the evolving dynamics of their generation. Our endeavor revolves around proposing educational strategies that help solidify identity while carefully considering the intrinsic motivation prevalent among most overseas Koreans. Naturally, the choice of employing the classic epics Princess Bari and The Tale of Shim Cheong as educational resources was deliberate. These narratives are rich in rites of passage and offer profound insights into the transformative journey of their protagonists. Both characters are affluent women in patriarchal societies, and both embark on quests to redefine themselves through new relationships, liberating themselves from the confines of parental ties. This narrative framework provides a unique opportunity for overseas Koreans who are often adrift in the social fabric of their adopted countries. These stories inspire them to introspect and contemplate their own identities. By intertwining their personal narratives with the empowering stories of characters, students are provided a chance to reaffirm their authentic selves. Therein, a paradigm shift can occur that allows individuals to embrace the core elements that define them. Our ultimate objective was to enable students to explore their own stories and immerse themselves in the intricate narratives of classical works. This immersive experience fosters a profound sense of unity with the characters and paves the way for a comprehensive educational plan. This plan not only celebrates the hybrid nature of identity but also cultivates a deep sense of positivity within amalgamated 'subjects.' Such an approach not only fosters a stronger connection with one's heritage but also sparks a genuine curiosity about and affinity for the rich cultural tapestry of one's home country. It's not just education; it's a transformative journey that enriches the lives of overseas Koreans and nurtures a profound bond with their cultural roots.
This study examines whether and how ages of child affect accessibility experiences of women and men differently. Space-time accessibility measures based on Time-geographic framework with activity-travel diary datasets in Portland Metro, US were calculated using GIS-based geocomputation, and spatial-temporal patterns of accessibility of dual-earner couples by ages of their youngest child were compared. The results are as follows. (1) Although more women than men work part-time, which would render women more spatial-temporal autonomy, accessibility levels of women are not higher than men's. It implies that there exists another constraint placed on women which largely stems from gender inequality. (2) It is distinctively women with child under age 6 of which accessibility spaces are found to be restricted doser to home compared to men. Women with no child or with child aged over 6, however, show more or less similar spatial-temporal patterns of accessibility with men's which are quite unvarying regardless of parental status and their child age. Women's accessibility experiences characterized by spatial-temporal entrapment, thus, can be seen as problems associated with gender rather than sex. (3) Intensified spatial-temporal entrapment of women with young child are associated with the significant spatial pegs shaping their accessibility spaces, which are located much closer to home compared to men's: workplaces and child's daycare centers.
This paper is a review of findings from studies that have used vignettes to identify salient characteristics that have been found to influence individuals' perceptions of child sexual abuse. Vignette studies finding avoid to unreliable and biased self-reports. A review of the literature revealed that factors influencing the perception process are divided into two groups. One group of factors relates to the details of the abuse situation including characteristics of sexual act (intrusiveness of the sexual act and the frequency of acts), characteristics of victim (age of victim, the gender of victim and victim resistance), and characteristics of perpetrator (age of perpetrator, gender of perpetrator and the relationship of the perpetrator to the child). The other group of factors focused on in research reflects individuals background variables that affect personal interpretations of the abuse situation. These factors include professional affiliation of the respondent and various other. demographics (e.g., gender of respondents, age, education, marital status, parental status, number of children, the length of experience, etc.), along with respondents own child sexual victimization experiences. Based on theses findings vignette studies have allowed researchers to learn how individuals vary their perceptions of various situational aspects of child sexual abuse situations, and how background characteristics of the respondents as observers may influence these perceptions.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the risk factors of childhood obesity and the characteristics of the parents of obese children. Methods 110 children of 5years old living in Seoul and Kwangju were surveyed by questionnaire about the children(birth weight, birth order, type of feeding, eating behavior, daily habit) and the parents(weight, height, education). The behaviors of mothers about eating restriction were assessed by three factor eating questionnaire(TFEQ). Children's weight and height were examined and the obesity indeces were calculated. Result: 1) The prevalence rate of obesity among 5 years old children was 20.1%, and male had significantly higher prevalence rate. No significant difference was found in birth weight, birth order, and type of feeding between two groups. 2) The obese group showed significantly more cases of "eat rapidly" 3) fathers of obese children were significantly older and showed higher educational levels. No significant difference was found among parental body mass indeces between two groups. 4) Mothers of obese children showed significantly higher scores of cognitive restriction factor and disinhibition factor in TFEQ. There was no difference in hunger factor, The score of mothers TFEQ was significantly correlated with children's obesity indeces. Conclusion : Children's eating behavior and mother attitude about food restriction have influence on children's obesity among 5 years older children.
Purpose: This study was to investigate the difference of attitude toward caring for alcoholics of nursing college students according to degree of parents' drinking problem. Methods: The subjects of this study were 281 students in the second and fourth grade students in nursing departments of 4 Universities located in G city. Data were analyzed by the mean and standard deviation, t-test. and ANOVA using SPSS 22.0 program.. Results: Parents' problem drinking perceived by the subjects was $3.70({\pm}5.85)$, $1.25({\pm}1.71)$ in the social drinking group(n=225), $8.59({\pm}2.07)$ in the alcohol abuse group(n=29), and alcohol dependence group (n=27) was $18.85({\pm}5.17)$ points. The average attitude toward caring for alcoholics was $45.25({\pm}6.49)$. The attitude toward caring for alcoholics showed a statistically significant difference depending on whether or not-they participated in the nursing practice of alcoholics. The attitude toward caring for alcoholics in nursing college students was negative as the parents' problem drinking was severe. Conclusion: The results of this study can be used as basic data for the development of psychiatric nursing education and counseling program for nursing college students whose parental drinking problems are serious in the future.

This study was conducted to analyze the effects of parents' self-esteem on preschool aged children's emotional responses and attention, mediated by their self-esteem, utilizing data from the 7th Panel Study of Korean Children. This study analyzed the main survey of the 7th year survey of the Panel Study on Korean Children and 1383 families from which both parents participated in the survey (1383 couples of parents and 1383 children). The results revealed that mother's self-esteem had a direct effect on children's self-esteem and that children's self-esteem had direct effects on their emotional responses and attention. Mother's self-esteem also had direct effects on children's emotional responses and attention, as well as indirect effects on their emotional responsiveness and attention, and these effects were mediated by parents' self-esteem. Overall, the study revealed the impact of parents' self-esteem on children's emotional responsiveness and attention and provided basic data for the development of an education program for preschool aged children and parents. Thus, it is necessary to develop educational programs to improve preschool aged children's self-esteem and to develop a program for the formation and maintenance of mother's positive self-esteem.

This study was conducted to provide basic data to understand the interaction patterns of dual-income parents' happiness by confirming the effect of work-family reconciliation recognized by dual-income parents on parental happiness. The subjects of the study were 630 pairs of dual-income parents out of 1462 pairs of parents who participated in both the main questionnaire and in the mother and father questionnaires in the 8th Panel Study on Korean Children (2015), and they were analyzed based on the Actor and Partner Interdependence Model (APIM). The results of this study show that the gain and strain of parents' work-family reconciliation had an actor effect on parents' happiness, and the gain and strain of father work-family reconciliation had a partner effect on mother's happiness. This study was meaningful in that it provides basic data on intervention and program development that could increase the happiness of dual-income parents. In order to increase the happiness of dual-income parents, it is necessary to provide intervention and education. In the future, we propose a study to confirm changes in influencing factors of parents' happiness according to time.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: A growing body of research has indicated that night eating could be associated with poor diet quality and negative health outcomes. This study examined the nutritional aspects of night eating, its related factors, and the association between night eating and body weight among Korean adolescents. SUBJECTS/METHODS: This study analysed the data from a one day 24-hour dietary recall as well as a demographic survey of 1,738 Korean adolescents aged 12 to 18-years-old obtained from the 2010-2012 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. 'Night eating' was defined as consuming 25% or more of one's daily energy intake between 21:00 and 06:00. Subjects complying with the preceding condition were classified as 'night eaters', whereas the rest were considered 'non-night eaters'. Logistic regression analysis examined factors related to night eating. Multiple linear regression analyses were used to examine the relationship between night eating and BMI z-scores, whereas multinomial logistic regression analysis was used to examine the relationship between night eating and weight status. RESULTS: About 21% of Korean adolescents appeared to be night eaters. Night eaters showed increased breakfast skipping (P = 0.001), higher energy intake from snacks (P < 0.001), greater proportion of energy intake from fat (P = 0.029), and lower Dietary Diversity Scores (P = 0.008) than non-night eaters. Male adolescents presented 1.9 times higher odds of being night eaters than females. Adolescents whose both parents were night eaters were 4.4 times as likely to be night eaters as those whose neither parents were. Female adolescents showed a significant relationship between night eating and BMI z-scores (${\beta}=0.28$, P = 0.004). However, night eating did not increase odds of being overweight or obese in adolescents. CONCLUSIONS: Night eating in Korean adolescents was related to undesirable dietary behaviours and low diet quality in general as well as higher BMI z-scores in females. Male gender and parental night eating appeared to be the factors that significantly increased odds of night eating. These results suggest that night eating should be considered when designing nutrition education or intervention programs targeting adolescents.
