A Study on Creep Crack Growth Behavior of Weld Interface Crack (용접 계면균열의 크리프 균열성장 거동에 관한 연구)

  • Cracking problems which high temperature plant components suffer during long-term service, occur very often at welded locations. The crack occurs due to accumulated creep damage near fusion line or at heat affected zone (HAZ). However, most of the studies on creep crack growth behavior have been performed with matrix metal not wit welded metal due to the difficulty of interpreting the test results. In this study, creep crack growth rates were measured with C(T) specimens whose cracks were formed along the fusion line or HAZ. The measured crack growth rates were characterized by {TEX}$C_{t}${/TEX}-parameter derived for elastic-primary-secondary creeping material. Since contribution of primary creep was significant for the tested 1Cr-0.5Mo steel, its effect was carefully studied. Effects of crack tip plasticity and material aging were also discussed.

  • When launch vehicles are manufactured, one of the key points is a design of lightweight structure for reducing costs. Isogrid structure was designed to solve this topic, and many researches were carried out about buckling load because compression load is mainly applied to them. Recently, many studies are also being carried out about FEM model geometry of isogrid structure. The reason is that isogrid structure depends on size of ribs so it is difficult to modify about small changes in rib pattern. In this study, 1/8 model of cylindrical isogrid structure model was developed to analyze buckling behavior. Through parameter study, buckling analysis were performed to analyze buckling load and buckling mode depending on size of ribs.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of sleep environment on individual sleep and to calculate optimal sleep environment. The input and output data sets are selected and the optimized sleep environment information is calculated using the neuro-fuzzy technique. Provides optimal sleep environment considering sleep duration. The arousal ratio calculated by the proposed method is 12%, which is at least 5% lower than the previous studies.

  • Taguchi's robust design methodology has focus only a single characteristic or response, but the quality of most products is seldom defined by a characteristics, and is rather the composite of a family of characteristics which are often interrelated and nearly always measured in a variety of units. The multiple characteristics problem is how to compromise the conflicts among the selected levels of the design parameters for each individual characteristic. In this paper, Methodology using SN ratio optimized by univariate technique is proposed and a parameter design procedure to achive the optimal compromise among several different response variables is developed. One new case studies are solved by the proposed method and the results are compared with ones by the sum of SN ratios, the expected weighted loss, the desirability function, and EXTOPSIS model.

  • A design method of rule-based fuzzy modeling is presented for the model identification of complex and nonlinear systems. The proposed rule-based fuzzy modeling implements system structure and parameter identification in the efficient form of ``IF....,THEN...', using the theories of optimization theory , linguistic fuzzy implication rules and fuzzy c-means clustering. Three kinds of method for fuzzy modeling presented in this paper include simplified inference (type I), linear inference (type 2), and modified linear inference (type 3). In order to identify premise structure and parameter of fuzzy implication rules, fuzzy c- means clustering and modified complex method are used respectively and the least sequare method is utilized for the identification of optimum consequence parameters. Time series data for gas furance and those for sewage treatment process are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed rule-based fuzzy modeling. Comparison shows that the proposed method can produce the fuzzy model with higher accuracy than previous other studies.

  • It is essential to carry out appropriate site investigations for the accurate prediction of the geo-structure. However, the importance of the site investigation is often overlooked due to the time and expense constraints. In this study, several cases of geotechnical design perfromed in United States are introduced with the lessons about how the site investigations are planned, performed and applied for the actual design parameter determination. Based on the case studies presented herein, experienced geotechnical engineer should participate in site investigations from the planning stage through the final boring logs and utilize all the laboratory and field tests to have consistent input parameters for the soil constitutive models. Furthermore, it is also desired to have close relationship between construction industry and the academia to compensate their needs.

  • This paper studies the estimation of hazard parameters, which have a close relation with product reliability characteristics in reliability test. Among the many kinds of estimation methods, hazard Probability Paper(HPP) is commonly used. The HPP is very convenient, but it has a great disadvantage in estimation W by plotting method It is very difficult to get the same results even if one use the same data several times. A computer program for the regression method is used for the parameter estimation to reduce these errors. Especially, the computer graphic program was written in GW-BASIC 3.22 language and a couple of running examples for user's reference appears in the appendix part.

  • This paper studies the delay-characteristics using the singular values and vectors of Hankel operators for input delay systems. First, the computational method of Hankel singular values and their corresponding singular vectors are introduced, and then it is analytically provea that all the Hankel singular vlues have a monotone increasing properties as the length of delay time increases. Furthermore, through a simple numerical example, it is shown that the Hankel singular values are dependent only on the ratio of the time constant of a lumped parameter system to the length of delay , and in case that the time constant is relatively larger than the delay time, the lumped parameter characteristic has a great influence on the input delay systems.

  • Derailment is likely to have a direct connection with human life and must be eliminated. A traveling safety evaluation method based mainly on derailment coefficient has already established. But this method is very difficult because Derailment is caused by multiple factors. To evaluate the derailment factor of running train that runs on the curved track, we make use of mechanism that wheel loads and lateral forces were affected by track and rolling stock parameter. In this paper, deal with a search on the parameter and derailment factor. According to results of computer simulation value of Q/P, running safety is connected with operation velocity, curve radius, cant, track irregularity, suspension stiffness and static wheel load ratio, etc.

  • The percentage of a mountainous district in our country is comparatively high but the concern for rock mass has been disregarded for a long time. Especially for rock slope, the most important factors are geometric characteristics and their shear strength parameter. In this paper, parametric studies are performed using the distinct element computer program UDEC-BB for rock slopes. Parameters adopted in this paper are joint angle, spacing, persistence, aperture and shear strength parameters (JRC, JCS, basic friction angle). To estimate slope stability, shear strength reduction method is used. The most important factors affecting rock slope stability are joint angle and spacing. The relationship between average displacement calculated by UDEC-BB and safe factor by shear strength reduction method is researched.
