Grid-Enabled Parallel Simulation Based on Parallel Equation Formulation

  • Parallel simulation is an efficient way to cope with long runtimes and high computational requirements in simulations of modern complex integrated electronic circuits and systems. This paper presents an algorithm for parallel simulation based on parallelization in equation formulation and simultaneous calculation of matrix contributions for nonlinear analog elements. In addition, the paper describes the development of a grid interface for a parallel simulator that enables a designer to perform simulations on distant computer clusters. Performances of the developed parallel simulation algorithm are evaluated by simulation of a microelectromechanical system.

병렬구조형 차량운전 모사장치의 성능평가 및 분석 (Analysis and performance evaluation of the parallel typed for a vehicle driving simulator)

  • The vehicle driving simulator expects vehicle motion with real-time simulation arise from driver's steering, accelerating, stopping and simulates motion of vehicl with visula, audio and washout algorithm. And it gives a vivid feeling to driver in reality. Vehicle driving simulator with vehicle integration control system is used for analysis of analysis of vehicle controllaility, steering capacity and safety in various pseudo environment alike. basides, it analyzeds vehicle safety factor dirver's reaction and promotes traffic safety without driver's own risks. The main proceduress of development of the vehicle driving simulator are classified by 3 parts. first the motion base system which can be generated by the motion queues, should be developed. Secondly, real-time vehicle software which can afford the vehicle dynamics, might be constructed. The third procedure is the integration of vehicle driing simulator which can be interconnected between visual systems with motion base. In this study, we are to study of the motion base for a vehicle driving simulator design and that of its real time control and using an extra gyro sensor and accelerometers to find a position and an orientatiion of the moving platform except for calculating forward kinematics. To drive the motion base, we use National Instruments corp's Labview software. Furthemore, we use analysis module for the vehicle motionand the washout algorithm module to consummate driving simulator, which can be driven by human in reality, so we are doing experimentally process about various vehicle motion conditon.

6-자유도 Eclipse-II 모션 시뮬레이터의 최적 원점 복귀 알고리즘 (Optimal Home Positioning Algorithm for a 6-DOF Eclipse-II Motion Simulator)

  • This paper describes the optimal home positioning algorithm of Eclipse-II, a new conceptual parallel mechanism for motion simulator. Eclipse-II is capable of translation and 360 degrees continuous rotation in all directions. In unexpected situations such as emergency stop, riders have to be resituated as soon as possible through a shortest translational and rotational path because the return paths are not unique in view of inverse kinematic solution. Eclipse-II is man riding. Therefore, the home positioning is directly related to the safety of riders. To ensure a least elapsed time, ZYX Euler angle inverse kinematics is applied to find an optimal home orientation. In addition, the subsequent decrease of maximum acceleration and jerk values is achieved by combining the optimal return path function with cubic spline, which consequently reduces delivery force and vibration to riders.

Dynamics of moored arctic spar interacting with drifting level ice using discrete element method

  • In this study, the dynamic interaction between an Arctic Spar and drifting level ice is examined in time domain using the newly developed ice-hull-mooring coupled dynamics program. The in-house program, CHARM3D, which is the hull-riser-mooring coupled dynamic simulator is extended by coupling with the open-source discrete element method (DEM) simulator, LIGGGHTS. In the LIGGGHTS module, the parallel-bonding method is implemented to model the level ice using an assembly of multiple bonded spherical particles. As a case study, a spread-moored Artic Spar platform, whose hull surface near waterline is the inverted conical shape, is chosen. To determine the breaking-related DEM parameter (the critical bonding strength), the four-point numerical bending test is used. A series of numerical simulations is systematically performed under the various ice conditions including ice drift velocity, flexural strength, and thickness. Then, the effects of these parameters on the ice force, platform motions, and mooring tensions are discussed. The simulations reveal various features of dynamic interactions between the drifting ice and moored platform for various ice conditions including the novel synchronous resonance at low ice speed. The newly developed simulator is promising and can repeatedly be used for the future design and analysis including ice-floater-mooring coupled dynamics.

알고리즘 적용이 용이한 시뮬레이터 개발 지원 도구에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Support Tool for Simulator Algorithm Development)

  • 시뮬레이터는 다양한 형태와 기능을 갖춘 여러 장치들로 구성되어 있으며, 이 장치들이 네트워크로 연동된 복잡한 구조를 이루고 있다. 이러한 이유로 시뮬레이터 개발 및 유지보수 과정에 많은 시간과 비용이 소요된다. 시뮬레이터의 성공적인 개발을 위해서는 관련 전문가들이 협력하고 업무를 분담하여 병렬적으로 수행하는 것이 이상적이지만 업무의 상호 의존성이 이를 어렵게 한다. 본 논문에서는 시뮬레이터 개발 업무를 알고리즘 구현과 이를 제외한 시스템 구현으로 나누어 두 업무의 상호 의존성을 낮추고 전문가를 지원하는 방안을 검토하였다. 특히 알고리즘 구현을 담당하는 도메인 전문가의 요구 사항을 분석함으로써 시뮬레이터 개발 지원 도구를 설계하고, 이를 활용한 시뮬레이터 개발 절차를 제안하였다. 또한 도메인 전문가의 알고리즘 개발 지원과 유연한 데이터 관리를 위해 데이터셋 개념을 도입하였고, 시뮬레이터 장비들이 유연하게 재구성될 수 있도록 네트워크 구조를 설계 하였다. 시뮬레이터 개발 지원 도구를 통해서 도메인 전문가는 알고리즘 개발에 전념할 수 있고, 효율적인 협업이 가능할 것으로 기대된다. 또한 개발 절차가 체계화 되고 더 명확해지기 때문에 개발 계획 및 관리가 용이해질 것으로 예상 된다.

SGI Origin 2000/Cray T3e /IBM SP2 시스템에서 병렬 분산 VHDL 시뮬레이터의 개발 (Development of Parallel Distributed VHDL Simulator on SGI Origin 2000/Cray T3e/IBM SP2 Systems)

  • 본 논문에서는 시뮬레이션 속도 향상을 위하여 VHDL(Very high speed integrated circuit Hardware Description Language)로 기술된 디지털 회로 시뮬레이션을 위한 병렬 분산 VHDL 시뮬레이터(Parallel Distributed VHDL Simulator : PDVS)를 개발한다. 개발된 프로그램을 대규모 병렬 프로그래밍 환경에서도 수행될 수 있도록 하기 위해서 표준 통신 라이브러리인 MPI(Message Passing Interface)를 이용하여 구현된다. PDVS 의 전체적인 시스템구성도, PDVS 에 사용된 시뮬레이션 프로토콜, 전역가상시간 계산 메카니즘 및 논리적 프로세스의 내부 구성요소들간의 관계와 PDVS의 제어 흐름도를 제시한다. 그리고 본 연구에서는 병렬 분산 시뮬레이션의 병렬성 정도를 분석하기 위하여 디지털 회로의 크기 변화와 처리되는 사건수(grain size)의 변화에 따른 성능 결과를 제시한다. 이 연구에서 4배크기의 디지털 회로를 적용한 경우는 프로세서를 12개 사용할 때에 8배의 속도향상을 얻었다. 그리고 처리되는 사건의 수가 200인 경우는 프로세서를 32개 사용할 때에 12배의 속도향상을 얻었다. 또한 동일한 방법을 SGI Origin 2000, Cray T3e 및 IBM SP2에 적용함으로서 그 성능의 간접적인 비교결과도 제시한다.

스튜어트 플랫폼 방식 운동재현기의 다변수 견실제어에 관한 연구 (A study on robust multivariable control of stewart platform type motion simulator)

  • The Stewart platform is one example of a motion simulator which generates 6 DOF motion in space by 6 actuators connected in parallel. The present SISO controllers are designed to track displacement command of each actuator computed from reference 6 DOF motion of platform by Stewart platform inverse kinematics. But this type of control can't cope with external load variation, geometric configuration of motion simulator, and different dynamic behavior of 6 DOF motion. In this paper, a multivariable controller using H- optimal control theory is designed for linerized simulator model with each actuator driving force as control input and platform 6 DOF motion as measured output. Nonlinear simulation result of the H$_{\infty}$ MIMO controller is not satisfied in steady-state characteristics. But the proposed H$_{\infty}$ + PI control scheme shows acceptable performance.e.e.

  • This paper presents the efficiency measurement and energy analysis for a parallel HEY. Using the HEV test rig, the efficiency of each powertrain component is measured for a given driving cycle including the regenerative braking system. Accompanied by the efficiency measurements, a detailed energy analysis is performed. Based on the efficiency measurement and energy analysis, a HEV performance simulator is developed. Using the simulator, the HEV performance is evaluated for a mild hybrid system. It is expected that the HEV simulator developed can be used to obtain further optimization potentials.

  • Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC)-based HVDC power transmission using a real-time simulator is one of the key technologies in power electronics research. This paper introduces the design methodology of a physical MMC-HVDC control system based on a Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), which has the advantage of high-speed parallel operation, and validates the accuracy of MMC-HVDC control when operated with a Real-Time Digital Simulator (RTDS). Finally, this paper compares and analyzes the characteristics of capacitor voltage balancing methods such as Nearest Level Control (NLC), NLC with a reduced switching frequency, and tolerance band modulation implemented on physical control system.
