The primary purpose of this study is to inquire into the characteristic of exposure presented in fashion, identify the correct concept of exposure from an aesthetic perspective, and grasp the contemporary meaning of exposure presented in fashion. As a result of study, the following findings were obtained: First, the surrealist style of fashion exhibited representations such as the relocation of the partial details, the harmonization of the natural and the artificial, the emphasis or expansion of each part of the body, and the like. It used highlighted the genital region with ornamentations or used the technique of paradoxically exposing the part of the body always covered. And it exbibited the paradoxical relationship of exposure and concealment by exposing the concealed part of the human body. Second, the post-modern style showed the complicated phenomenon that the values of several meanings such as the historic, the folk, and the like appeared in its fashion. It shares in spatiotemporal eclecticism, pluralistic characteristics and the like found in the post-modern culture. Third, the deconstructive style gets rid of the distinction between the external space and the private space by translating underwears into outer garments. It destroys clothing by tearing or perforating clothing whereby it represents the poor image. Coupled with women‘s psychology of exposure and the new generation’s way of thinking indifferent to others‘ eyes, this fashion of deconstruction occupies the great current of fashion. Deconstructive fashion gets away with the rule of ‘having to wear clothing to suit TPO(Time, Place and Occasion), the traditional norm of wearing clothing.

How much do we know about the biology of aging from cell culture studies Most normal somatic cells have a finite potential to divide due to a process termed cellular or replicative senescence. A growing body evidence suggests that senescence evolved to protect higher eu-karyotes, particularly mammals, from developing cancer, We now know that telomere shortening due to the biochemistry of DNA replication, induces replicative senescence in human cells. How-ever in rodent cells, replicative senescence occurs despite very long telomeres. Recent findings suggest that replicative senescence is just the tip of the iceberg of a more general process termed cellular senescence. It appears that cellular senescence is a response to potentially oncogenic in-sults, including oxidative damage. In young orgainsms, growth arrest by cell senescence sup-presses tumor development, but later in life, due to the accumulation of senescent cells which se-cret factors that can disrupt tissues during aging, cellular senescence promotes tumorigenesis. Therefore, antagonistic pleiotropy may explain, if not in whole the apparently paradoxical effects of cellular senescence, though this still remains an open question.

This paper is to analyze how Walt Whitman developed the theme and structure of Leaves of Grass with his ideal of democratic vistas. Whitman established his identity as an inspired poet, having faith in the divinity of man based on transcendental belief. After being awakened to the transcendental truth, he practiced his own common world view--his democratic vistas. Whitman searched for the unity with nature and identified his self with "common man and his nation." The poetry expresses "cosmological and national ideology" dedicated to the creation of an ideal nation united in eternal freedom and peace. By portraying common cosmic and national theme in terms of his individual personality, he brought various paradoxical and controversial ideas into one thing, namely "democracy", fusing diversity into unity. As in the symbol of the grass, there is a unity in variety reflected by democracy in a cosmological and political compound. With the form of free verse, he could express his liberal unrestrained and mystical thoughts of democracy. This new form has been associated with the poet's strong consciousness of the need for modernization in his country. He willingly assumed "the role of prophet and public voice for American democrat" with the rolling catalogues and I-persona which formed a sense of the common man and common things of America. Whitman pioneered a democrat literature with simple and dynamic tone and style. He successively pursued the democratic vistas in his Leaves of Grass.

This study is for detecting the Braess Paradox by stable dynamics in general transportation networks. Stable dynamics, suggested by Nesterov and de Palma[18], is a new model which describes and provides a stable state of congestion in urban transportation networks. In comparison with user equilibrium model based on link latency function in analyzing transportation networks, stable dynamics requires few parameters and is coincident with intuitions and observations on the congestion. Therefore it is expected to be an useful analysis tool for transportation planners. The phenomenon that increasing capacity of a network, for example creating new links, may decrease its performance is called Braess Paradox. It has been studied intensively under user equilibrium model with link latency function since Braess[5] demonstrated a paradoxical example. However it is an open problem to detect the Braess Paradox under stable dynamics. In this study, we suggest a method to detect the Paradox in general networks under stable dynamics. In our model, we decide whether Braess Paradox will occur in a given network. We also find Braess links or Braess crosses if a network permits the paradox. We also show an example how to apply it in a network.

Surgical treatment of partial endocardial cushion defect was accomplished in Feb. 1984 in this department. The 5 year old male patient had history of frequent upper respiratory tract infection and since his age of 3 years dyspnea on exertion and palpitation were noted but there were no cyanosis and clubbing. A thrill was palpable on the apex and grade IV/IV harsh systolic ejection murmur and diastolic murmur was audible on it. Liver was palpable about 3 finger breadths and no ascites. Chest X-ray revealed increased pulmonary vascularity, moderate cardiomegaly [C-T ratio; 0.69], and enlarged left atrium. EKG showed first degree heart block, RVH, LVH, and LAD. Echocardiogram showed paradoxical ventricular septal movement and abnormal diastolic movement of the anterior leaflet of mitral valve. Right heart catheterization resulted left to right shunt [Qp:Qs:2.1:1 ] and moderate pulmonary hypertension [60/40 mmHg]. Left ventriculogram showed mitral regurgitation [Grade III/IV] and filling of left atrium and right atrium nearly same time. Operative findings were: 1.Primum type atrial septal defect [3x2 cm] 2.Cleft on the anterior leaflet of mitral valve. 3.No interventricular communication and cleft of tricuspid valve leaflet. The mitral cleft was repaired with 4 interrupted sutures. The primum type atrial septal defect was closed with Dacron patch intermittently at endocardial cushion and continuously remainder. The post operative course was uneventful and discharged on 22nd postoperative day in good general conditions.

Current strategic trends in service distribution and software development in response to Web as a platform represent a paradoxical concurrent pursuit of 'economy of scale' and 'service'. From the software perspective, the major novel elements of the Web 2.0 era are Web as a platform and the emergence of long-tail service enabling web sites to function as an independent distribution channel. The current study analyzed the platform strategy for establishing a community of interactive developer and customers taking the issue of economy of scale into consideration. Software industry should face the new reality and utilize the open source community for cost minimization and securing customer base. Furthermore, Lego-style software development should be adopted for maintaining cost-competitiveness in customized software development.

Purpose - The purpose of the paper is to examine disconnection between supply and demand shipping market, which means shipowner has determined to raise capacity in bust period. Research design, data, and methodology - The research method to be applied is first to look into conceptual theory about shipping market, and then to study imbalance of supply and demand situations in shipping on crisis, and next, to analyses paradoxical aspects traced. Results - Shipping market is a volatile and cyclic characteristics, and its situations have to be examined very carefully. Since financial crisis has broken up in 2008, it is natural to think that world trade volumes has reduced rapidly, which means demand for shipping service has fallen, and accordingly, tonnage should be stagnated as well. However, shipping companies have put capacity into market as unexpectedly. This is because of economy of scale and time lag. Here, this can be explained in terms of paradox that is proved in this paper. Conclusions - From careful research in this paper, it is found that supply and demand are not always got along with market situations, in other words supply side could be working well, in spite of depression time of demand situations in world shipping markets.

Chemical oxygen demand (COD), phytoplankton cell number and chlorophyll-a concentration (Chl-a), sediment mean grain size and ignition loss were studied to determine their temporal trends in the study area. Historical data of COD, cell number and Chl-a were gathered from the late 1960s or early 1980s to 1997, and trends in temporal domain were obtained from a simple regression. Sediments for grain size and ignition loss (as organic contents in sediments) were sampled from the Chokchon macrotidal flat bimonthly from September 1990 to November 1996, and were analyzed using the decomposition method of time series analysis. In general, the first three data showed increasing trends based on regression analysis. The trends of sediment grain size fluctuated in a neutral pathway while those of ignition loss yielded no increasing pattern. In contrast with the suggestions from Ahn and Choi (1998) who reported a coarsening variation in sediment grain size to be a cause of the directional and remarkable changes of macrofaunal communities in this area, we could not find such a corresponding variation pattern from our samples. In diagnosing eutrophication, a paradoxical phenomenon was encountered between the trends in water column (COD, cell number and Chl-a) and sediment (ignition loss) data. In this paper, we inferred the possible processes that produce the discrepancy. Some explanations and biological responses to eutrophication were predicted and discussed.

Pseudin is a naturally occurring 24 amino-acid-residue antimicrobial peptide derived from the skin of paradoxical frog Pseud's paradoxa. It shows potency against the bacteria and antibiotic-resistant bacteria strain, but has high cytotoxicity against mammalian cell. In our previous study, substitution of $Pro^{11}$ for Gly (Ps-P) increased bacterial cell selectivity but decreased the antibacterial activity of pseudin. In this study, we designed pseudin analogue, Ps-4K-P with increased cationicity up to +7 in Ps-P by substituting Glu14, Gln10, Gln24, and Leu18 with Lys. Ps-4K-P showed improved potent antibacterial activity with high bacterial cell selectivity. We determined the tertiary structure of Ps-4K-P in the presence of DPC micelles by NMR spectroscopy and it has a hinge structure at $Pro^{11}$ followed by three turn helices from $Pro^{11}$ to $Val^{23}$ at the C-terminus. Amphipathicity with increased cationicity as well as helix-hinge-helix structural motif provided by introduction of a Pro at position $Gly^{11}$ are the crucial factors which confer antibacterial activity with bacterial cell selectivity to Ps-4K-P.

Aesthetic values reflecting the phases of the time are well represented in the clothing styles in paintings. Especially, modern German romantic artists' ideologies on the essence of nature and life are reflected in the figures of paintings. This paper aims at finding out how the sublime beauty of German romantic clothing styles is represented in the paintings of Caspar David Friedrich. The research is summarized as follows. First, the German romanticism led the modern romanticism and was especially enthusiastic about the sublime beauty of arts. Second, the sublime means the exaltation of passionately soaring souls and has the mysterious transcendence that unpleasant feeling is elevated to pleasant feeling inside men who are so feeble compared with vast nature. Third, the male and female clothing styles in his paintings represent the religious, contemplative, paradoxical, transcendental, liberating sublime beauties of the German romanticism. Accordingly, a study on the sublime beauty of the German romantic clothing styles will renew the interpretation and aesthetic values of early modern clothing.
